Great cover design, very nice vibe!
Je ne m’attendais pas à cette proposition là. Je vais être généreux avec un 3 étoiles. C’est bon mais jamais j’écouterais ça dans mon auto.
Eipä ole ennen tullut kuunneltua. Jotenkin hämmentävä levy, en päässyt kärryille. Jotain kiinnostavaa tässä kuitenkin on, että voisi antaa toisen mahdollisuuden.
This album is like being stuck on a french exchange trip where the host school puts on a drama show and you're sat cross legged wishing you were on the coach home

This was kind of an unexpected surprise. I really enjoyed the variations on a theme throughout the album. The subtle changes to those thematic elements gave them each a unique mood that I'm sure tied to the relative scene in the movie. Good stuff.
Ei oikein innostanut, eikä auennut mulle. Tylsää ja välillä jopa suorastaan masentavaa musiikkia.
Antoi ymmärtää vähän enemmän kuin mitä lopulta ymmärsi antaa. Osin mielenkiintoinen, mutta liian suurilta osin heikko semi.
Lukioaikoina pari kaveria fiilistelivät Airia, mutta itse en sen hienoutta tuolloin ymmärtänyt, enkä vieläkään ymmärrä. Leppoisaa mollikasta taustamusaa tämä on. Konseptina tietty tällainen yhden bändin soundtrack-albumi on jännä, mutta siinä sarjassa esim Yann Tiersenin Amelie-soundtrack on ihan omaa luokkaansa. Ja ehkä Belle & Sebastianin Storytelling-levykin keulii tästä etupyörän mitalla ohi. Sofia Coppola- ja nuoruusmuistoilla kuitenkin kolmonen.
Did not really like it. It was mellow
This was not a good album. I feel like even if it's so perfect for the movie, that does not make it a good album on its own (as you said Kix). Lame!

Maybe one song held up on it's own but as a whole it was so dark and the last song really spooked me/got to my bad feelings :( Maybe goes well with the movie, but wouldn't keep it on the list. 2 stars because production was p good but boring
Ambient and wonderful!
I usually don't mind Air (I own Moon Safari) but I found this tedious. Maybe it helps to see the film...
The proper songs are neat, but there are obvious songs used for scene-setting in the film that don't necessarily translate to a great standalone listening experience, and it ends up feeling like Lidl Pink Floyd. Still overall enjoyable, 3/5
This is nice. Compared to their other albums I'm familiar with, it's more subdued and background-y (like a movie soundtrack). Though I can play Dead Bodies over and over again!

I was totally blown away.
This starts out great with Playground Love, it imbues such a languid chill-out mood, but then it kinda drifts off into a pretty typical movie score. The soundtrack to this movie is actually much better with classics by 10CC, Todd Rundgren, Al Green, and Sloan. Lovely film too.

Oh man I loved this movie. This is a wild album that is definitely bringing images from the movie into my head, but is still a really solid fascinating album all on it's own.

I mean it was fine. I didn’t dislike it. It just doesn’t bring anything that stands out and doesn’t have replay value.
I like this one a bit. It's mostly instrumental atmospheric stuff, with some vocals here and there. The song "Dead Bodies" has some great drums. Still not a "must add to my library" album, though.
First time there has been a movie soundtrack on here, interesting. End result seems to be more instrumental-only tracks. They all seem to have a unifying musical theme and are "unobtrusive", though it's hard to put into words. I think I might have guessed this was a soundtrack as a result. Overall very pleasant background listening music.

This had a great mood and drifted into an instrumental feel of yoshimi and the pink robots. i think i was 100% on board and into it and then the last song hit. though it adds depth/interest, i think all future listens will stop 1 track short.
i like air but this movie is overrated and the album seems silly as a standalone listen. the last track is straight-up bad
uhhh.....lush sounding but not overwhelming....gets better as it progresses. Like the psychedelic flourishes in the Word Hurricane.

Good atmospheric music to put on the background if doing other things
This is the first soundtrack I encountered on the list, a "genre" that I didn't even consider finding here. I wonder when I will get my first country album? Anyway, I never saw The Virgin Suicides, and I suspect I would have liked this album more if I did. I also suspect that these songs actually made a pretty great soundtrack for the movie. However, I did not see the movie, and I am judging this as everything else on the list: a music album, listened to in one sitting. And with that method, well, this didn't blow my hair back. Air is a French electronic band I had never heard of. The songs were mostly instrumental, with some spoken word vocals from the movie toward the end. The music itself was fine. There were some good drum and bass grooves. One song really sounded like one track from the Final Fantasy X soundtrack. Basically, this was good music to have in the background. Which as a soundtrack makes it a resounding success? I guess I question why this is on the list? 1001 albums sounds like a lot, but there are quite a few bands with 3 or more albums on the list. What's going to happen is by the end of this there are going to be some omissions that I take issue with, and I suspect this album will be one of the first I would take off the list to make room for those. My personal enjoyment: 3/5 Did it belong on this list: 2/5

Great Movie...Meh Soundtrack. I Liked the voiced interludes that painted scenes of the movies but other than that I found it mostly mediocre and boring
Well made, but often very slow (not in a good way) and somewhat repetitive.
Just a less good Daft Punk. Too mellow for me.
So good. It really helped concentrate post-lunch. The afternoons are the hardest for me while I work, I definitely hit a slump. I also love that it's the soundtrack for one of my favorite movies.
Clouds Up is my jam. Otherwise ethereal.

Airin muita levyjä tuli fanitettua joskus nuoruudessa. Tähän levyyn jäi tutustumatta, kenties koska en ottanut leffan soundtrackia vakavasti heidän ”omiin” levyihin verrattuna. Taso jääkin kauas esim Moon Safarista tai 10000hz Legendista. Ehkä vaatisi elokuvan mukaan katsottavaksi jotta tunnelmaa osaisi enemmän arvostaa.
Ist...okay, aber kein Bringer. Ich finde kaum Gründe, diese Platte noch mal zu hören.

I’ve always liked Air, and parts of this album are gorgeous, but I gotta admit, this is like easy-listening music for hipsters. Both Steph and I independently thought parts of it were indebted to Richard Wright-led instrumentals from Pink Floyd. -Kris
It was an interesting narrative. Made me want to look into the movie (which I haven't watched). Good background music for working along to and such. Nothing too exciting, in my opinion.

Ambient elektronisk film score. Første nummer med vokal er godt. De andre er ok, men megrt filmiske i udtrykket, med nogle gode instrumenteringer. Nok bedre hvis man har set filmen 3.5 stjerne

I like it, Air is a great band
I already know and love this album. I love the opening track, it's this melancholic affair, then it's a dream from there after. Would it be pompous to declare that Air is the OG of this excellent dreamy ~v i b e~ genre that I like so much? There's only one track on this that prevents it from being a 5 star, and that's the last track. For me at least. It probably works better if you're watching the film, but we out here on Spotify my mans. To cap an album off with this distorted spoken word affair after Air has literally made love to your ears for the last 35 minutes; what are you doing?

Ok it's kinda soft indie rock, but I'm ok with that right now. Mostly instrumentals? It's like if Radiohead wasn't fucking awful. 3/5.
Incidental at times... but then again it is a soundtrack. Not the air album I’d put in 1001ATHBYD! Still enjoyed it mind.
