A classic with the occasional mediocre song
Hard to say how much I liked it. Graveyard train was such a slog in such a short album, but penthouse pauper was great.
Surprisingly, I liked it quite a bit despite not being a huge country fan - overall pretty solid.
Some pleasant parts in the first song but not very easy to listen to.
Great album the whole way through - loved 2 weeks
A classic. I’m prejudiced against led zepplin as a whole but still loved the songs on this album. Ill come back to a few of them for sure.
Had a few redeeming songs, so I wouldn’t mind listening to parts of it again, but overall pretty bad. I think I just do not like British accents and this form of a more spoken “rap”. Beats were not as bad though
Loved the ideas on this album and they were executed beautifully- some notable highs and lows for me though - especially in the latter half of the album.
Low three for me. Thought the first song was great but it got fairly experimental in some places. Very listenable but a little harder to thoroughly enjoy.
A great hip hop record. Never knew Q-tip had it in him. I loved “Move” as it felt like the best version of what he was trying to get at throughout the album.
Some great songs and some very forgettable ones like Love song and whatever the last song was. I loved the 80s pop sound - like a Michael Jackson. Low 4 for me.
Love this album. Not my favorite from the Beatles, but that’s not saying much
This was a hard one to rate because of how uptempo and over the place it was. I loved Santiago and America the best, but there were plenty of replay able songs. The combination of rap and Spanish pop(?) was a novel idea to me, and I can’t say that it disappointed.
Unique sound with the keyboard but some of the songs (Alabama song) are simply not great. Glad I listened to it but not a game changer.
Songs were great, but blended together because they were based on stories, which I had a hard time picking up the first listen. Still a wonderful album with great guitar and harmonica
Some songs that I really did not like, but some blew me away. Mr. Bright side is a pop classic of course, but it works so well with their style. I really liked on top.
I loved the latter half of the album, but the first four songs were very mediocre to me. Sounds like something that I might listen to after a while has passed. The Message is solid though.
So great! Absolutely loved the sound and I have nearly no complaints, especially with how cohesive it feels as an album.
Some great songs and a lot of mediocre ones. They knew which were the best and gave them remixes, though, which I have to appreciate.
I generally love jazz, but the combination of instruments did not work well for me. Strings, accordion, and vibraphone? Sounds like they were trying to prove a point that it could be done. On top of this, they repeated the same phrases many times, which worked well occasionally. I did like some songs, though, like little Italy and Laura’s Dream. Border btwn two and three star.
High three to low four for me. The rock style seemed so classic to me for many of the songs - so much so that it was almost like listening to comfort music in the same way that people would eat comfort food. Despite this, there were definitely a few songs on here that I did not particularly like (like Sunday Sunday) and some of the rest started to blend together. Overall pretty solid.
Quintessential 80s - I kinda liked it. More than my dad I think. Not something I’ll come back too though.
This is what I imagine smell the glove would sound like - really not my thing.
I thought that this album was really great. I had only known Elvis Costello from Alison before this album, and I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the production seemed strange, but it seemed to work in a lot of the songs with the melodies.
Didn’t blow me away but didn’t really dislike it either
Beats were pretty classic, but the lyrics really kept me from getting into it… Probably not gonna listen again.
Great beats like most early hip hop, but the length made them blend together. Comparing it with the last album, the grooves were overall slightly worse but I couldn’t really hear the lyrics so they didn’t put me off
Seems to me like a very standard rock live performance. I didn’t know that live albums were being used, which surprised me. I enjoyed listening but it’ll have to be a high three because it seemed pretty standard.
Yet another 80s album
Wonderful album
Despite never listening to Springsteen in depth, I really liked this album. It was consistent all the way through. Even though nothing blew me away, I would definitely listen again.
A little worse than the wall But the wall is pretty good I just wish this album was a bit shorter
Absolute stunner of an album!
A beautiful album - definitely will be coming back to. It got repetitive at some points, but it is so calm that it didn’t really matter I hate to give low fives, but this album definitely deserves the five
It seemed average at first, then the last three songs got very experimental and did not sound too pleasant to say the least. At least the beginning was ok
I was not excited to listen to more specials after listening to the specials by the specials earlier this year, and while there was still not much special about this album, It was significantly more digestible than the other.
I love jump
Absolute classic from start to finish - such a beautiful unique sound
Some parts I liked, and some that were very very 80’s that I very much did not like.
I liked how interesting it was, but that’s about all I have good to say about this album.
Unique sounds on this album - don’t think I particularly enjoyed it though
I thought that the music was great but the lyrics were not my thing. I hate to bed too heavy on the lyrics though as I loved to listen
I don’t know. It all sounds like the dark side of you’ve got a friend in me.
A little too much smooth and melodic slow songs, but I really like them in small doses
I’m not a big metal guy, but I was jammin
A lot of the time I think that Hendrix’s guitar is sloppy, but there were a lot of good songs on here
I really liked it. I was a little suprised, because I thought the vocals would put me off like they had before, but they really didn’t.
High four from me, a truly electric album that just sounds really great.
Really just not my thing
I actually really liked this one. Photograph is fantastic and the whole things got a lotta energy.
I really loved this album - almost a five four me. Before, I had only heard about the weight, but I learned that there are really so many more good songs on the album.
I love this album so much, and I don’t really know why. It is definitely very authentic.
I wish every song could be as good as Under the Bridge
Couldn’t be as good as songs in the key of life but it still is a classic. I was gonna go high four, but the last three songs brought it back for me.
I generally like this style of old hip-hop, but this album didn’t really do it for me.
Pretty normal album but I liked it - high 3
I liked it much more than I thought I would.
Super high four star, I had no clue Chicago was this good. Pleasantly surprised
Not my thing
Unique sound. I really liked certain parts, but others were a bit much for me
Low 4
Great pop album
Solid hip hop record. Didn’t expect Kanye to show up but there he is. I liked faithful
Pretty bluesy, I liked it.
Classic hip hop
Not my thing, but I really appreciated it
Classy
It has its niche uses, like background music for working, but not much outside of that
