The Last Of The True Believers

Lullabies for adults.
Starts really slow in my opinion but closer to the end the better. Last two tracks (Moving in Stereo and All Mixed Up) are cherry on top of this record. Solid four stars.
Perfect? No. Good? No. Mediocore? No. Bad? No. Garbage? Yes.
Everything is a matter of perspective. I've listened to this album three times and took my time to rate it because I really liked it (average score 2,71). Next day I listened to Chelsea Girl by Nico (average score 2,61) and hate that garbage. Similar score, different energy and style. Anyway, never heard of Drive Like Jehu before but for me this is the biggest surprise I had pleasure to discover via this site after listen to almost two hundread albums.
White Winter Hymnal is the best song, suprising after the first one which I didn't like at all. Funny thing is I didn't even know that Fleet Foxes exist. But in the end it's not my cup of tea. Only Your Protector caught my attention and great closing Oliwer James, rest of the album is bland to me. 3/5.
Chinese Bombs!
Great production, nice flow, good throwback to the 90s.
Very interesting cause this album feels like it's from modern era, when I saw 1981 I was pretty shocked. Spellbound and Monitor best tracks for me.
Lullabies for adults.
'Regiment' and 'Help me somebody' - yes. Rest of the album - no.
Enjoyable listen, very simple, every track is short but intense, there is no room for catch a breath.
Boring and easy forgettable.
Chills from the very first note. Best song: Come On! Feel the Illinoise! John Wayne Gacy, Jr, Chicago, The Seer's Tower are also fabulous.Simply amazing album, I think with a couple more listen it could be 5 out of 5. Right now 4,5/5.
First half of the album is iconic, I didn't even realised that so many songs from this record went mainstream. But the other half is only ok, I feel whet you cut maybe two songs and shorten the album a little bit it would be better.
That's my jam but when listen to one 20 minutes track you keep wondering is this for real or somebody making fun of you.
A masterpiece? I've listened to this album a couple times in a row and i understand the hype but not quite see it yet. 5 stars cause I'm sure it will grow on me.
First song is mesmerizing, rest of the album not so much.
Fuck yeah, that was exactly what I needed to hear on Monday's afternoon.
I didn't enjoy this album at all unfortunately.
4,5/5 I guess?
Great bass, great melody but overall not a single song caught my attention as a highlight. Solid album but not for me.
Ms. Jackson truly timeless song. 4,5/5
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart is beautiful, Let's Stay Together also. But the rest of the album is medium.
Waste of time. Only Sham is worth listen.
Quite interesting. 3,5/5
First half of the album is perfect, I had to remember that I know Porcelain and Why Does My Heart Feel so Bad? Memories unlocked right away.
Bland and dull. When you listening to this album you constantly try to remember what song was a minute ago, that's how forgettable it is.
Relaxing therapy session.
Production, funk, disco, Prince, dear Lord, that was a superb album. Slow Love, U Got the Look and Hot Thing are gems here. 4,5/5.
Yeah, I kinda liked it.
Nothing special in my opinion.
Couple of big hits that we all heard before. I remember listening to this album in 2014 and I really liked it, nine years later and I think it won't stand the test of time. I'm afraid that twenty plus years in time this would be consider as equal as other albums from this decade.
Simplicity at its finest. Leaving the Table is pure perfection.
Quick and boring.
Liquid sex dripping from music. Also this album feels like it was made yesterday. Classic.
Too long to listen again in one day but this is nothing special. Besides Layla of course.
Yeah. Right. Keep wondering why is this the album to be listened to before die? Why?
Well I guess I'm on Bob Dylan's hypetrain now. 4,5/5
Second Bob Dylan's album day by day, couple of mid songs on this one so 4/5.
From the very first notes you know that this is an amazing record. Timeless classic.
So here's the thing. I hate U2. I always thought their music is so bland like a sheet of paper without writing. But to be fair I've never listened to any of their albums as a whole. That was the first time. I constantly keep in mind that this is their tenth album and I'm guessing the style changed a lot since debut but I'm not a fan and I can't tell if this is true. And what's the best part and really suprising (especially after reading reviews here) I don't despise this. Really think that couple first songs are great, some of them are straight garbage that sounds like an elevator music from Mass Effect but in the end that was an enjoyable listen. 3/5 and I'm really curious how The Joshua Tree will sounds when time will come to finally listen to it.
So much noise on this one. Really try to find a good tracks here but songs that I liked in the first listen didn't catch on second try. Therfore whole album is kinda rubbish to me, nothing stands as a solid point here. On Your Own best, Brainstorm Interlude worst track on the album.
Nothing special at least for me, listened couple of times but I wasn't impressed.
I don't know any of Muddy Waters songs, it was new to me, also this is live album so 3 stars is all I can give.
That was interesting for first two minutes, something way different than usual. Then extremely repetitive.
Damn, I know so many songs from this album, yet I didn't know that band called Dire Straits even exist.
So that music is playing when you are waiting for doctor's appointment.
Fuck me, indeed this is perfect album. 5/5
Perfect dose of energy.
This was all over the place, sounds more like a random playlist.
Strong start, mid finish.
No. Just no.
Interesting.
You can feel this is something extraordinary.
I kinda felt like they are singing one line over and over again in every song. That was annoing.
I kinda feel that you have to be in a certain mood to appriciate this album cause I've listened to it twice and first time I really liked it but second time I almost fell asleep. 3/5
Lightnin' Hopkins alone sells the album.
Yeah, some of the songs aged terribly. It's a sin still slaps, tho.
Listened to it twice and that one star is a reminder not to listened to it again.
I remember walking back to my house from studies. It was December, snow and cold everywhere. Headphones on my ears while i was listening to music, shuffle playlist. Suddenly I realized there was no one around me. Not a single person walking or cars driving by. World stopped at this moment. I call it moment of silence and peace. And then interlude to All Of The Lights starts playing. That was 13 years ago, yet I remember this like it was yesterday. My masterpiece. 5/5
Straight up elevator music. Only Fade Away is worth listen.
Not gonna lie I was little afraid seeing another psychedelic genre album but that was a nice surprise.
Editors of 2021 edition: Look, we have a tough decision to make, we need to pick an album that's gonna be timeless, people who will be listening to this in 2060 gonna be losing their minds how remarkable it is. Also editors of 2021 edition:
Yeeeesssss!
Quick test. Play three or four random sections of each track and you will notice that they sound pretty much the same. For almost two hours.
This is story. This is art.
That's a nice surprise.
Boring.
Expecting more from this.
Great sampling but is that really what music is about?
I know I'll be going back to this album a lot.
Very dark, heavy, unique album with godly production, I enjoyed every minute of it.
Classic.
Good representation of modern album on this list.
Strange but two or three songs were listenable.
I didn't feel the connection.
Weird mix.
That didn't age well.
Science/Visions is best track from this, Lungs and Recover close. But I can't understand how they choose You Caught The Light to be closing track - that's a big no no for me. Great album and Screen Violence (2021) is even better.
Judge by the score I expected something great but overall I wasn't impressed.
Never been a The Cure fan but this is an amazing record.
So this is DC's versions of The Beatles?
Fuck no.
For the first David Bowie album on this list I think this is solid 4 stars.
Second half of this is much stronger than first, Mrs. Robinson and A Hazy Shade of Winter are by far the best tracks from the album. Overall strong 4 stars, would listen to it again.
This is masterclass, album that everybody should listen because of unique style that many albums on this list simply lack.
Maybe when this came out it was great but right now I'm amazed how awful this album is. Two stars only because of Mr. Cab Driver and Flower Child which you can actually listen.
Beautiful album and Famous Blue Raincoat is one of the most mesmerizing song I've ever heard, I had to stop what I was doing, sit down for a minute and listen closely to it. Masterpiece.
5 Nothing more. Nothing less.
Listen to this couple days after hearing The Number Of The Beast is little unfair because you can tell that this record is slightly weaker. Nevertheless another solid dose of metal.
Never heard of Def Leppard before and listening to this, somehow I constantly felt that they trying too hard, I don't know.
Strong start and not so strong finish. But I really enjoyed it, I didn't feel this was repetitive at all.
I usually listen to album two times in a row and most of the time I know what my rating will be. This time however, I've been listening to this for five hours straight and still finding something new, which keep me thinking about it. Last time I had identical case with Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Judging by the pretty average score (3,46 today) I think that many listeners share the similar: they didn't listen long enough to this record. Because ladies and gentleman, this... this is one of the best albums ever created.
Remain in Light is one of the best albums ever made so this record must be slightly worse. In the end it's still a solid dose of music.
I've been listening to this album whole week, never heard of Arcade Fire before. I know this album is long and not everything is perfect but for me this is huge surprise. Ready To Start and Suburban War are best songs at least for now, I'm sure I'm gonna listen to this a lot.
I have to agree it's mediocore, at least for me. I didn't remember anything after listening, nothing caught my attention.
Listen and forget. All of the songs lack energy, I don't know. Even Drop The Pressure - highlight compare to other tracks here feels like a wasted potential to kick with more power. And of course title track Destroy Rock & Roll. Man. That. Sucks. Balls. I haven't heard such a shit song in a while.
Make You Feel My Love and Not Dark Yet are amazing but the rest no so much. It's kinda unfair to listen Dylan's discography in random mode, but that's what I can't help with.
Nothing special with this one.
So simple, yet so powerful. And it hit me hard, amazing album.
One Man Show.
Great rap, amazing skills, untouchable flow from Biggie. And that's it, that's true power of this album. Have to agree that skits are sometimes awful and production in nowadays album is far more sophisticated but I can imagine that back to the 90's that was out of this world.
Voodoo Bitch!
Well, that's a great discovery. Never heard of Fugazi before but that was really enjoyable listen.
This by any means is not a perfect album. Adele voice is amazing, no question about it but I kinda feel that production is boring and often sounds the same. I mean singles are great but the rest of the album sounds more like a filler. Enough said to my surprise that Lovesong is the best from entire record and this is cover of course.
Stellar start of the album but the end was a little let down.
Being Boring. Yep, that's exactly what I constantly felt throught listen to that album.
I am really surprise that I really liked it.
Great listen, album reaches peak almost at the end of the record. Maps and Y Control easily the best tracks.
Little too long for me, if you cut two last songs it would be perfect. Nevertheless it was nice listen.
Well, that was surprisingly shit.
2.99? Damn, I really liked this album.
I've always considered Eminem as a person who always speaks his mind and tells things that sometimes I wanted to say but I'm too much of a pussy to do so. Still think that The Eminem Show is his magnus opus where he reaches his ultimate form. Nevertheless this album is of course very good.
1,5 h? Even as a curiosity, it's a waste of time to listen to this album.
Stop wastin' my motherfucking time with shit like this. I don't have any joints or else which I can use to make this listenable.
Monday morning. Your oldest daughter is sick, younger has erupting teeth. You didn't sleep much whole weekend and right now have to get up and start a day. It's 5:20 in the morning, pitch black because of December. You try to do what you normally do, morning routine but energy is low as fuck. Opening 1001 app and writing review to yesterdays bullshit album that you had to grade thinking 'you better give me something good this time'. Bam. Prodigy. Bam. The Fat of The Land. Quickly pick up one headphone just to listen a little bit. When Smack My Bitch Up starts playing you know it's gonna be a good day. 5/5
5 stars. Mainly by concept itself and execution. I've listened to couple of albums on this list so far but this is the biggest surprise, I'm sure that I wouldn't listen to this type of music by my choice.
The Experience. Amazing storytelling which I imagine is not for everybody. If you looking for songs you can't find many here but boy, if they actually play they're masterclass. 5 stars for whole concept.
Never heard of Nick Drake before and this album sounds very interesting, unique, like every track is something that I don't expect to happen, even structure of the songs are not what I am used to. And this cover. I feel like it's have nothing in common with the substance of a album and I kinda know that was on purpose. 4/5
Not worth of your time.
Great classic, must listen on Christmas time and unfortunately only then.
Immigrant Song - classic, great opening. Since I've Been Loving You - amazing song, mesmerizing, best on the album. But the rest is really annoying, I felt like they drilling into my skull with this repeatedly high guitar notes.
I know this isn't a perfect album but for me many songs here are incredible and I'm sure that twenty years from now I will have goosebumps hearing The Scientist.
The more I listen to it the more I like it. Strong 4 stars.
Lazy, slow, viby and smooth, kinda liked it. Drew Barrymore is outstanding track. Did I forget about something? Ah, yes. A pussy.
After hearing The Bones of You I thought this is gonna be masterpiece but my sky-high expectations were tempered as the album went on.
Big, great album with massive hits. I strongly recommend listen to Knights of Cydonia on HAARP (Live from Wembley Stadium) - one of the best live performance I've ever heard.
I've been listening to this album since it came out and it's still sounds amazing and fresh. I don't think it's gonna be all time classic but on the other hand I laughed a lot while reading some reviews stated that this is generic pop, I mean c'mon, seriously? Also cover of this album is so eye-catching, like a work of art of it's own. In the end, this is my list so light 5 stars from me.
Listened to it three times and in the end I had to skip most of the songs because how boring the were. Listen to whole thing for over hour that's not for me unfortunately. Kinda let me down, judging by the reviews I expected something more.
Perfect? No. Good? No. Mediocore? No. Bad? No. Garbage? Yes.
Good album with some big tunes like Lost, Pyramids (with legendary beat switch) and of course Pink Matter. The only downside is that Blonde (2016) is simply better than this.
I feel like this album is little too long, they should finished after Slipping Throught My Fingers. Anyway it's very enjoyable, had a good time with it.
I chills out so quickly when listening to this album, absolutely love that feeling. Great discovery.
1982 1999 2024 2057 Sit down, very good. 4
Yeah, not worth mentioning.
Easiest five stars so far on this list. I believe that everybody knows songs from this album and that alone deserve praise. Legacy.
Alright, Alright, Alright
Boring.
I know plenty of songs from here but overall if you think about it, that's pretty average music, especially with production and sound - mainstream success didn't help in this case.
What the fuck is this, I mean seriously? I like it.
It's that kind of album that you wish it ends sooner.
It's great album, no doubt about it but these are mostly covers and I just simply can't rate them five stars.
Music For The Last Couple is the only song here worth listen and it takes a whole damn minute to start it.
Starts really slow in my opinion but closer to the end the better. Last two tracks (Moving in Stereo and All Mixed Up) are cherry on top of this record. Solid four stars.
- Mum, I want a Nirvana CD. - Son, but we have Nirvana at home. Nirvana at home:
Man, I gotta admit that everytime I hear Yellow starts playing I have goosebumps.
To be quite honest it's a shame that I had to start my music journey with Talking Heads by listening to 'Remain in Light' which in my opinion is one of the best albums ever created. Then I had a chance to listen to More Songs About Buildings and Food and right now their debut album. And you know what, it's also great record, I mean not as good as Remain in Light but Dear God, when you look at Talking Heads discography, you pretty much can't say nothing wrong. 5/5
Funny but the first thing I saw was the thumbnail of The Shamen on Spotify where they look like a members of a Nazi rave gay club. Album itself isn't worth your time. If you think otherwise I guess you are gonna get invited to annual club meeting.
Achtung kurwo! I was very surprised rating 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' by U2 three stars. I was wondering that maybe all the time I'm too harsh to them. But no, this album is garbage to me. For entire record I thought that band is playing in one room and Bono is a fucking mile away from them, music and singing don't match. And I had to write it again, their music is so bland like a sheet of paper without writing. Painful listen.
