Reviews (page 8 of 8)
1. Okay i've heard this song before, it's alright. I think I heard in dazed and confused maybe? That's what I associate it with. It's alright. 2. I just heard it and I COULD NOT be able to pick it out of a line-up, absolutely zero defining melody, lyric, or moment. I've already forgotten what it sounds like. 3. Sorry, had to skip this one. 4. Wow. oKAY. nothing. 5. I do not love a saxaphone in the middle of a rock album. It just sounds wrong. 9. I skipped all the way to grande finale because it sounds cool. And I was right JUST KIDDING this sucks. It's just noise im sorry I can't.
Another boring album of little consequnece
Meh
there is one decent song on this
Meaningless music, maybe important in terms of show and shocking an american conservative public.
oh fuck fuck fuck my username wasnt unique fuck FUCK fuck fuck
Not my vibe didn’t really enjoy it can’t see myself coming back to it
a proper struggle
Nope. Pass.
Corny garbage
i couldn't get past the second song i'm so sorry this album is not for me
Fuck me! It's like a rock opera
1. zkull - 2 2. tune - 1 3. jettz - 0 4. Fight -0 5. Turk - 1.5 6. Stars - 0 7. Animal -1 8. Alma - 0 9. Finale -1.5
I know it's supposed to be humorous and throwing off the shackles of expectations with its rock, jazz, psych, and what the fuck ever. But it a miserable blast of Alice Cooper vomit in congealed record form and no, thanks, I will forever and ever pass.
this sucks. was probably cool to hear in 1971 though. i have no further comments at this time please get out of my house
Forgettable
nope
Wildly random album. Musical genre changes every song. Lyrics are generally terrible. One of these songs has something to do with being a cat and fighting the Jets from West Side Story? A lot of weird nonsense stuff. Some of the songs are interesting musically. Notable tracks include School’s Out, Blue Turk…..maybe My Stars. This album definitely should not be on this list.
Nope
I liked the song School’s Out for a brief period in the 80s when I was at school - it’s definitely a song you grow out of but I can still just about appreciate its charm. It’s never really occurred to me to listen to anything else by Alice Cooper though - in fact, I’d never listened to anything else by him until today when I heard a whole album. A whole album! Who knew such a thing existed? Anyway, it was all pretty awful so I can see why he only has one famous song. There were moments when I quite liked some of the music but they were few and far between. He sounds like he needs a Strepsil.
Off the cuff remark: ooh this'll be fun, I thought, knowing only the throwaway "Schools Out". What a dull disappointment. Standout track: disposable "School's Out" just about bears repeat listening Revisit?: no ta
Schools out is OK and pretty fun. But the rest of the album just did not do it for me. Its a bit dorky, always themes about American high school. 2/10
1/5. I loved Alice Cooper's following album from this list, I thought he nailed the theatrics mixed with the songwriting aspects very well. Unfortunately, it seems he and his band were still figuring it out here because I don't think I liked a single song on here, except maybe the opener and closer, but they did not save this one. It kind of felt like discount Rolling Stones meets an American Kinks cover band. I wish I liked this more but it really was all over the place and not in a good way. A jack of all trades, master of none. Best Song: School's Out, Grand Finale
Alice Cooper, School's Out ⭐️ My first single star review! Early 70s had to be rough. Either you're a master of your craft, like Led Zeppelin or The Who. Or you're rebellious and powerful, like Iggy Pop. Maybe you're pioneering and on the fringe like Gram Parsons. Orrrrrr. You could be mixed in with this mediocrity of the age. Your Foghats and other such stuff that doesn't really even rise to the level of, say, Mountain. Bands that, sorry not sorry, you can guess their quality by the name and logo: Average White Band for instance. And you don't have the easy-going feel of what's to come, like Tom Petty and Fleetwood Mac. To be honest you don't even come close to the sinister feel of Black Sabbath and the in-your-face metal-adjacent rock of Guns'n'Roses and The Cult is still 15 years off. So you're stuck. You're Alice Cooper doing your best poor man's Ozzy. And hey. We all have limited time here. Go listen to Oz instead. Or The Eagles. Or Taylor Swift. Anything, really. Watch the movie Frank and you'll have come closer to quality rock'n'roll. Peace.
I was thinking about the scope of this project, arguably spanning over 50 years with 1000 albums, which calculates to like 20 albums per year. Perhaps that explains how this one snuck through. I line Alice Cooper and it opens with a classic rock anthem, but then it’s mostly crap. Maybe there’s an interesting backstory here, but I don’t even think this is representative of the somewhat innovative artist that Alice Cooper was. Is Britney Fox going to make this list? What about Silverchair?
God help us.
unlistenable
This was weird and surprising and juvenile. I only know Alice Cooper from Schools out and waynes world. I had this impression if hard rock, but this was not that. Its really poppy and fake, with weird kiddy lyrics. I was surprised at how 70's and kitsch it sounded and really found it jarring
Horrible
While the title track is memorable, the rest is pomp-rock at its most vapid. Complete shite
I think I'm gonna hate dad rock as much as the other music snobs by the end of this list. I didn't mind the last two tracks.
dnf. this may have been edgy back in the day but it sounds like clown music now
it started off weird to the point where I /almost/ liked some of it but then it turned into boomer shit again. I feel a great fatigue
Fuck this shit
School's Out, and so am I.
heavily dissapointed the lead singer is not a woman. assumed this was a woman artist not a band by the name lol meh music also i got a headache from the super high pitched whine present throughout this album
Back in 72 I was still in grade school and "School's out" was all the rage at that time, the rebellious lyrics and vocals probably stuck a chord with many kids so I’m not surprised that it made it to No. 3 on the Canadian charts. However, I didn’t think it was such a big deal then and 50 yrs later I still don’t see the appeal. The same goes for the rest of this album.
Nein
I think I would be better served going back in time, to high school, to listen to this record. I still don't think I would like it, but thematically it would make more sense. I think I would prefer instrumental tracks. It was the lyrics that kept pulling me out of the moment.
Not a fan.
Cat: this is the second time I’ve had to listen to Alice Cooper 🙄 I have always liked School’s Out. The cat one is lame af. I guess it’s supposed to be fun and tongue in cheek. More trashy sex rock. Cool horns here and there. Just not for me. Was groovin a little to Public Animal 9 AJ: School’s Out is a cool song, always makes me think of Dazed & Confused. Other than that? Fuck off with this shit.
Just never liked this album
When I was a kid and saw photos of Alice cooper, I always thought his music would be so dark and scary but really it’s symphonic kids bop for a children’s spooptastic Halloween party and I’m sorry but I hate it
Okay, this was unintentionally hilarious. He’s just soooooo SCARY. The makeup, the spooky tunes, the Wayne’s World Cameo… everything adds up to one SCARY guy. 2/5 just because I got a good laugh. Wait, on second thought, he utilized a children’s choir so that brings it back down to 1/5.
poopy shit
The title track definitely runs away with the album and then you hit a string of WTF. Blue Turk is like an awful Doors song would sound if you had your head under water. I deeply regret that I had to listen to this twice to pen these conclusions.
Thought it was a bit shit really. Other better classic rock albums
Barely noticed this album was on.
This was apparently shock rock in the 70's. School's Out is a good track on it's own, but the rest of the album sucks. The lyrics are all so cheesy and cornball. Not an album I'll want to listen to again, stick to Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits.
Everyone has heard School’s Out the song but as an album I find it largely forgettable. There isn’t another track on here I’d see myself playing again. Alice Cooper has a mystique that isn’t represented on this album at all besides some lyrics here and there about graveyards in your soul. I’d skip this and listen to something else.
Teatralsk, shock-rock
Schools out
mmm i don't understand it :c
