Cat: Some of the tracks musically are a lot of fun and maybe were trendy or groundbreaking at the time. The lyrics are mostly terrible. Madonna has a beautiful, distinct voice. AJ: Totally agree. The two singles were the two best songs. Couple random acoustic guitar songs thrown in with more random electronic noises. She sounds great, but the writing is elementary at best. 🤣

AJ: An Al Taddei all-timer. “Never mind the wah-wah.” Cat: George noodles are the best and make any song great. The production is awesome, layering with horn and string synthesizer lines makes it sounds so full. Poetry. AJ: Too many songs! George got shot down by the Beatles so much he exploded when he left. Can hear his excitement in certain vocals. (What is life? chorus) Maybe not the best Beatle, but certainly my favorite.
AJ: Care Bears on LSD Weird for the sake of being weird. Musically pretty cool, though. Keys stand out. Not sure i’d ever just sit and listen to them. Race for the Prize was my favorite song.
“They’re on the pot!” ✨🇺🇸✨ AJ 😂😂😂 They were absolutely on the pot. Some nonsense. But poetry, really. Ton of imagery. Zoo song had me in a bus from the east side to capron park. Had never heard Fakin It. Great tune. A surprising jaunt in a lot of slow melodic weirdness. Mrs Robinson is one of my favorite songs to sing along to. I forget about that, but remember every time I hear it. Cat: They were absolutely on the pot!! A lot more rockin and a lot more full sounding than I expected. Fakin It was my favorite. Also liked Old Friends and Punky’s Dilemma. Embarrassed I didn’t know they did Hazy Shade of Winter!
Cat: um, I kinda love this?!?! A little bit weird for the sake of being weird, but also brilliant. Talking Heads meets Styx meets the Cars. Funny, Spotify played Talking Heads right after this album! AJ: Energy is through the roof. Rhythm section is a fucking truck. Lead singer annoys the fuck out of me. If I had to see them live and they played anything besides Uncontrollable Urge and Gut Feeling, I would leave angry. Uncontrollable Urge is a rippah, though.
Cat: funny this followed Devo- similar but not at all! More poppy, but the songs don’t really stick out at all. They kinda happen and then they end. But I still love the groove. Don’t Worry About the Government 100% makes me think of my dad. He knows all the words. AJ: Talking Heads and Devo. Art kids. Visual bands I’d imagine. Last two songs on this album are awesome. Seems for me, with the Heads, that I love the songs I love and really have no use for anything I haven’t heard. Spotify went into And She Was after this ended and I was way less worked up (lol) and so happy it was on. Stop Making Sense and a few other gems and I’m good. Like them much more than Devo, not saying much. Just sound better to me. I like what I like. The rest kinda pisses me off. Lol
AJ: “RED YELLOW SASSAFRAS AND MOONSHINE!!” 🫠wtf!? What a voice. Had never heard of her before. Slow songs and high notes had me rolling my eyes a few times but her voice is ridiculous. Fucking weird, but ok. Horns and piano and vox soul picnic. Fucking New York hippies. Cat: This album is so much better if you picture Jan Levinson-Gould singing it. I’m normally all for the cheesy stuff, but her voice was killing me. Eli’s coming is the only one that made me move. Decembers Boudoir was pretty. AJ: December Boudoir has the word boudoir in it. 🚮 Cat: Decemberry? You made that up.
Cat: booooooo some stuff was cool but then the vocals ruined it or it just went on forever with no change. Boooooo. Weird creepy lyrics. Boo. AJ: I loved it. All these 80s singers really know how to ruin it for the rest of us. Loud fart noise.
AJ: Musically… 80’s pop madness. MORE 80’s pop madness. Ridiculous. Catchy af. Like herpes. This dude had to sing this crap his whole life!? Tour hotel room, sun’s coming up and no one’s slept yet….we can get down then. Other than that, keep guessing, Georgie. Yikes. Cat: I’m having fun. AJ: 🙄
AJ: it’s a gas!!! Weed helps. Very cool album. Cool to read he hung out with Hendrix. 13 minute The Ocean, yo. Wicked cool. Weed helps. Cat: this is great! Heavy rock elements with sitar and minor modes, complex rhythms. Love the additional instruments too (especially clarinet)!
Cat: I really like how they sampled music and the beat they matched them with. He’s a talented guy. I liked Kick, Push, Daydreamin, Hurt Me Soul and Pressure. Good lyrics, paints a picture. Not my favorite but it’s good! He talks about not being into the standard hip hop message. I liked how he did his thank yous as a track. Not gonna listen to it but that’s nice. AJ: Feel like the last person who should have something to say about a hip hop record, but here goes. Really dig the music and sounds. Really dig that he seems to have something to say about things he should have something to say. Smart kid. I can hear what he saying. Is Jay-Z the goat? Every time I hear him I get excited. Feel like if Jay is hanging then we should be too. Skateboard track was really cool. Storyteller. The imagery in Daydreaming had me slowing down to feel the sunshine. The Instrumental was on a video game I played a lot, probably knew every word at one point. He’s cool. Not The Cool, but cool.
AJ: Excellent. Don’t know much about or written by Santana. “The hits” are cool, and I randomly got to see him live and he was great. The band is of the Earth. So much soul and energy. Love the first track feeling like the band is getting him going. Didn’t hear alot of guitar, until black magic woman. Like he’s gathering energy from the band and then saying “ok, vamos.” I loved it. ❤️ Cat: this album is fucking amazing!! Mood music for sure. Latin, jazz, rock n roll all fused together. And they’re all so good! Highly recommend listening with headphones. The stereo effects are wild.
Cat: this is a really great album. Just really like their sound. I love how they can go from beautiful to grunge rock to power ballad. I get a little tired of Billy Corgan for a full hour, but the music is so good AJ: the most alternative album I’ve ever heard. Whatever that means. Need to listen with liner notes. No idea what any of the songs were about. It’s good rock and roll, though. Agree on Billy’s voice. Wicked good in some songs though. Today i learned the name of that song is Disarm.
Cat: Well. I just love everything about Q-tip. Not familiar with this album, though. But it’s everything I love about him still! The beats and bass are phenomenal, and his rhyming is so smooth. There’s something about the way he raps that makes you wanna move. Talks about love and life and even gets kinda silly, and the topics on this album have something for everyone. It’s creative, it’s cool, it’s uplifting and it makes me dance. Dance on Glass starts with no music. Just him. And you can feel the groove. Brilliant. So good that I have a perma-smile. You ever just laugh when something is so good it kinda blows your mind and makes you happy? How have I slept on this album? Listened twice so I could pick up on more lyrics. I love his love of old music, too. ManWomanBoogie 🔥 AJ: He’s cool. The music is cool. Love the beats and the bass and the smoothness. Just really cool. Won’t Trade and Gettin Up were my favorites. Late to the party, but I’m picking up what fans are putting down. Will have to give his tribe a listen someday soon too.
AJ: This band has a song or two I really love. Just a couple of really great songs. Wake Up hits me in the feels. I don’t know why it affects me so much. Just does. Couple cool tracks here, but they’re pretty strange. Honorable mention to Keep the Car Running. Not on this album but it’s the other song of theirs I love. Random stuff on Spotify after the album ended has been top notch! •The Strokes- Soma •Skipped vampire weekend •The Shins- New Slang skipped, but went back and listened and it’s cool. Skipped vampire weekend twice. Ha! •Franz Ferdinand- Take Me Out 🔥 •Flaming Lips don’t use jelly •Modest Mouse- Float On 💨 Cat: they’re pretty good, nothing jumps out at me as great. Weird voice, melancholy lyrics, I liked the dancier tracks (Power Out, Rebellion) and I liked Wake Up.
🚮
AJ: angry and sad 15 year old me loved this album for awhile. Chester is a beast. An angry and sad little beast. Love the cover art. Could do without the rapping. Like all of it. 2.5 cuz it can’t be Madonna, but it can’t be the Pumpkins. Lol round it up, right? Shut up when I’m talking to you. Cat: wasn’t for me. There were a couple of songs I liked, they sound good and they bring a lot of energy. Very angry. Stop yelling at me. Agree with the rapping. I get it’s 2000 and everyone raps. But could do without it. They had something to say and this is how they did that, so credit to them
Cat: I like it! Classic late 60s rock sound, bluesy, petite little songs. Rod Stewart’s voice is great - love the grit AJ: 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Dirty bois. Really fucking cool. Giving it a 3, but Stay With Me is so close to making it a 4 on its own. Ronnie Wood, man. Wow. British dudes singing about Memphis made me laugh. Also, can’t help but wonder what Rod does while the other guy is singing. Real good rock & roll. A fucking jaunt.
Cat: ohhhhhhh boy oh boy oh boy grew up with this one!! I love the harmonies and her rapping. Her voice is outstanding. Love her positive messages, too. A lot of her music sounds like a throwback to Motown. To Zion is super powerful. Never noticed how religious the lyrics are at times. Her and Mary J going back and forth is epic lol. Just fun and soulful and sometimes upbeat. I love how much you liked this! AJ: She’s just such an artist. Singing voice, rap voice, poet, bet she paints. The interludes with the kids talking about love are great. Doo Wop is such a bop. I said what I said. The Score (Fugees) was more prominent in my life, but she’s clearly a fucking force. Found it interesting that one of the songs I liked the most was Every Ghetto Every City. A title on paper that I didn’t expect to relate to, but the painting of her childhood/neighborhood really made me think of mine. Cool. Real cool.
AJ: Simple songs about complicated things. “I salute your solution(s)” It’s good rock & roll. I think there’s something to like about every fucking song on here. I liked just about all their singles, but a little late to the party as usual. This album and icky thump were the two I could really go start to finish with the most without getting turned off. Fucking weirdos. I love them. 🖤🤍♥️ Cat: They get so much feeling and vibe from just two people. It’s incredible. Fantastic dynamic range. Just cool. Rawk. One of the songs is greyed out? Hypnotise? Gonna have to YouTube that one.
AJ: I like the album title. Strings and horns sounded good. This mostly sucked. There are more than a few “what the fuck did he just say!?” lyrics. Some had me questioning if it was some botched attempt at a comedy album. I don’t get it at all. Wikipedia called it “baroque pop.” Who’s fucking idea was that? I am not a happy burger. Cat: this sounds like the soundtrack from a one man off Broadway musical
Cat: definitely laid foundations for hip hop. Silly lyrics, I like that. Great groove.
AJ: 🚮 Just doesn’t sound good.
AJ: Weird noises. Weird lyrics. Running Up That Hill is a monster of a song. Her vox are great. Was cool to learn that this album knocked Madonna out of #1 in the UK in 1985. She’s way cooler than Madonna. Kind of discovered and helped out by David Gilmour. That’s one way to get me to listen. Synth and weirdness cut with some clean piano playing. Fucking 80’s, man. SO WEIRD. Pete Gabriel’s sister..? Lol From wiki: The second side of the album, The Ninth Wave, takes its name from Tennyson's poem, "Idylls of the King", about the legendary King Arthur's reign, and is seven interconnecting songs joined in one continuous piece of music.[66] From AJ: Craaaaaaazy
Cat: surprisingly poppy! Didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would! Classic rock, like the addition of the brass on Elected. He screams a bit too much lol. Sounds a bit like Kiss? Liked Sick Things. I love the dead is just as bad as expected. AJ: Fucker had me all the way through Generation Landslide! Then he got bored so he acted up some..? Lick from Mr. Nice Guy is fucking iconic, honestly. Weirdo fits right in to the 70’s rock club. Of course my wife liked sick things. Lol
The MF Isley Brothers!!!! Holyyyy shit. Funk hippies. Amazing. Listen to the Music, What it Comes Down To. Always known the name, never knew what songs were theirs. My bad. Fucking amazing. Cat: Voices smooth as butter. Classic, legendary songwriting. So much soul.
Masterpiece. Next question.
They had a few songs I was bobbing my head to. Peaches I liked! Brit punk. Pretty cool. Kinda kills me to give this a 2 when Alice Cooper got a 3, but it’s not as good as albums we have a 3 to.
As far as drum and bass goes, this is really excellent. Songs are way too long! But there’s some great stuff happening, good beats, fun instrumentation. Glad I read up on it before saying it wasn’t for me.
Classic.
Brazilian soul folk. Pretty cool. Really wish I knew what the songs were about. Will definitely come back for a few tracks.
JUMP INTO THE FIRE!! WE CAN MAKE EACH OTHER HAPPY!! WE CAN MAKE EACH OTHER HAPPY!! WE CAN MAKE EACH OTHER HAPPY!! WE CAN MAKE EACH OTHER HAPPY!! Awesome, Harry. You crazy asshole. This guy totally did LSD with the Beatles. Let the Good Times Roll, you fucking coconut.
Cat: Pretty cool! Love the instrumentation. Very creative. Sounds kinda like Flaming Lips, then I looked them up and they’re known to be tied to them. CLARINETIST WOOOOO. Endlessly is quite weird. Like a Tim Burton Fairytale. It’s all quite weird, but really really well done. Everything is grandiose and orchestral. Actually much prefer listening to this than FL. AJ: Noticed that Goddess on the Hiway is the most played song on Spotify. Not surprised it’s easily the best song. The Funny Bird right after it is pretty cool too. Tim Burton or Wes Anderson? Weird movie score music. Guy’s voice annoys me in most of the songs. Feel like Goddess was the single and it probably got a lot of people to listen. And then they got a Tim Burton or Wes Anderson movie score. And instead of a visual story, this guy just squeaked alot. Hudson Line voice was different and some guitar. That was ok too. Some good points, for sure. But nah.
AJ: I mean, she’s amazing. Imagine being able to take all your experiences and hurt and write them down and shout them out and sound so fucking good? Can’t afford to be sad all the time, but I mean, she’s amazing. Cat: What a powerhouse. She actually moves me to tears, just the raw emotion and tone of her voice, never mind the lyrics being great - paints a picture. Songs are so well written and produced. She’s incredible. Music is so beautiful. Can’t listen to her all the time because I’ll just be drained! Hot damn, Adele.
Grunge tendrils. 🦖 Vines? Roots? 🫡 Pretty cool given the time that it sounds so far ahead. Gritty and fun!
Cat: so fucking awesome. Created their own genre. Dark and demonic. Guitar and bass are awesome. What a sound! The story about Iommi’s fingers and how he got his sound are insane. AJ: never really dove into these guys. Know the hits and love them for the most part. But this album fucking rules. It’s crazy it was their first and they’re just so fucking great together. Everyone is so good at their job! Just heavy bluesy 70’s goodness. Holy shit.
Cat: she’s great - I do feel like this album sounds like 90s R&B and she hasn’t found her own distinctive sound yet. Still great story telling and a loungey feel which I love. AJ: band is crazy. Just rock solid. I can’t help but judge her for her demons. She’s great, but what could’ve been. If someone had tried to help her sooner. Such a talent. Such a shame.
AJ: Ok, so the #1 goal of the bands in the 80’s is to put out the worst shit of all time and make people listen to it? Every lead singer sounds like an asshole, let’s just call it artsy, they’ll listen. If this is a top 1,001 album I need to hear before if die, just let me fucking die. Every time one of these lead singers opens their mouth I see red. The only decent song on the album was Satori. Because there were no vocals and the album was finally fucking over. What kind of dickhead listens to this because they want to!? Thank Christ for the 2 dozen talking heads songs we like because the rest of you sound like liquid shit. Fuck DEVO and fuck all the rest of you. Bunch of wet trash bags. Cat: it’s ok. Has more of a rock feel than some of the other 80s stuff we’ve listened to. Weird lyrics - just stop. I feel a little dead inside having listened to this.
Cat: I kinda dig it! Great sound, great vibe, gotta be foundational punk here. (I looked it up. It is not. Still considered a great punk album) AJ: British Violent Femmes. Wonder if the Gizzard Lizzards love them. I think this album is pretty cool. Love when they space out some. Vox kinda wear on me after a bit, but pretty cool. Punk pop Brit pop dash of psych pop. Pop pop pop.
Cat: I really wanted to like this! I think I thought it would be more dancey/daft punky? Instead it’s just more of the crap we didn’t like from the 80s, just 25 years too late. A lot of the songs started and I got hopeful that I’d like it, then the weird lyrics and screechy dissonant guitar would kick in. Boo. Just when I thought I needed a break because it was so bad, I got to call the police. Still very 80s, but more pop and it was tolerable.
Cat: I’ll definitely be listening to this one through again! Love it! So creative and fun and great sound. Big fan of changing time signatures and prog synth. Radiohead meets Yes. AJ: I don’t know what kind of attention these kids have gotten but they deserve more of it. They’re getting more of mine I CAN TELL YOU THAT MUCH. What a good rock band. Weird one too. Need a t-shirt.
AJ: Most wanted? Yeah right.
AJ: LOUD FART NOISE
Cat: This Rules. I’ve heard a couple songs and didn’t know who it was! Very fun, great dance beats, enjoyable stuff! A whole techno album is kind of intense to listen to in the middle of the day. This is late night DJ shit. AJ: overall… not for me. Just not where I’m living. I liked some of the sounds. I disliked a lot of the sounds. Phantom and Phantom 2 were my favorite. Don’t need anything else. Some nasty bass parts throughout, but not enough for me to be excited. High in a hotel room at 2:30? Maybe. Whatever. Drugs are fun. But I’m never gonna be the one to put it on.
Cat: Absolutely beautiful. So much emotion and melancholy that it makes me feel sad without even knowing what she’s saying. I know she has to be a major influence on Brandi Carlile. AJ: She’s good.
Cat: I really enjoyed this. Vocals sound great, guitar is beautiful and intricate and the lyrics are poetic. The music is deceptively upbeat for such self-deprecating subjects! Would listen again and dig deeper. AJ: pretty cool. Nice guitar and voice. Wish I could understand his vocals more. But then I kinda liked not knowing too.
Cat: great sounds, great rock/pop songs, great lyrics. The Bends might be one of the greatest rock songs ever. High and Dry is iconic. Fake Plastic Trees is so raw and real. I remember listening to it with you and breaking down. Just is awesome. Black Star is an anthem. But generally this album is all over the place stylistically in the best way. Something for everyone. And Thom Yorke’s voice is unreal. AJ: seeing The Bends (song) at Bonnaroo 06 with Train is a moment I’ll never forget. The Bends and Pablo Honey will always be my two favorite albums by Radiohead. Still a rock band on those two albums. I like some of their newer stuff, but these two albums are the only two that I love every track on. Minus one or two if I’m being honest. I’ll never forget our first Fake Plastic Trees. Finally singing the last last line with someone I wanted to be all they wanted all the time. The first four songs are perfect. My goodness. I wish I wish wish…
Cat: I have my favorites. I think I’m used so such energy from The Last Waltz that some of these tracks don’t grab me as much. Never heard To Kingdom Come and that was great! Don’t think I’ve heard them do Long Black Veil either, AND ITS AWESOME! Vocal harmonies and time is different than I’ve heard in the best way. CHEST FEVER WHOA! Stretch at the end wasn’t great. Overall, a wonderful listen! AJ: I love the Band. Some of these songs aren’t for me. I love The Band.
AJ: Do we talk about the rhythm section enough? They got nicknames too? Hot damn. Sunday Bloody Sunday hits a little different in the living room vs the car. They kinda jam it out crush it for a few moments and it’s better. Album U2 is better than random radio every once in a while U2. Cat: there’s no denying how well written, performed and produced their material is. Also, a ton of emotion in their music and lyrics. All the songs have a unique vibe and sound. Kudos!
Cat: I listened to 2 songs. I liked it!
Cat: Amazing songwriting and vocal talent! AJ: she just sounds so good. Vox and keys. So damn good.
Cat: first of all, best stage name ever! Iconic sound vocals and guitar. I like the more playful tracks, like I want to be Loved #2 and I Can’t be Satisfied. AJ: legend.
Cat: it’s pretty interesting stuff. I like that it’s so raw and isolated sounding. Storyteller lyrics about people and politics makes me really lean into what he’s saying over the actual music. Some heavy shit. I liked it! AJ: Jaunts. Romps. Simple words with a lot of meaning behind them. Jangly guitar poetry. I’d like to drink a pint with him.
AJ: I miss my dad. “I love Neil. But if you give him to much of your time, he’ll kill ya.” Thanks a lot, Uncle.
Cat: This is really beautiful and fun! Love the vocal harmonies and the stripped down folk rock sound. AJ: ripper of an opener. Christ. What Goes On… instant love. Some of it is very cool. Hip if you will. Hoping you won’t. Some of it stupid art poop. What Goes on, great tune, though. Cool It Down.
AJ: one of my favorite albums ever. 6th or 7th grade AJ wore this fucker out. Really no weak tracks. Just pure Brit pop rock goodness. Wish they weren’t such assholes to each other.
AJ: pretty cool Brit pop whoopdie dooos. I like it. It’s good. It’s good. I like it. Pretty cool. Oh yeah.
AJ: Synch 2 🚀 Never given them a real shake. I like what I know. Sting vox, man. Wow. Great great rhythm section. They’re cool.
AJ: musically, very British pop punk rock with a twang of Syd Barret era Pink Floyd. His voice annoys me and his Wikipedia makes me think we wouldn’t be friends. Mr Smartest Guy in the World. Mr I am not a musician I’m an artist. Some cool musical moments, though.
AJ: NOPE Cat: A little weird. Don’t hate it. Don’t love it.
Cat: well, I definitely like this more than the other Flaming Lips album we listened to! More funk. More grit. More groove. AJ: Some cool noises for the acid kids. Yoshimi part 1 is pretty cool. Space mush. Not sure how anyone listens to them alot.
AJ: listened to this album a lot as a kid. The first 5 tracks are excellent. Band is so tight.
AJ: I’d never heard this boss rap! Great music. Cool as hell. Dance to the music.
AJ: 🤘🏻💀
Cat: pretty cool and it was relaxing, but it all started to blend together. Nothing changed or jumped out. AJ: fuck we doing here, Francis!?
AJ: 19 songs, 39 minutes, lol.
Cat: Guy’s voice is kinda whiny but I like the music. Some of this actually gets quite cool. I liked moving. The guy is still shrieking. AJ: Hate the vocals and lyrics. Musically, pretty cool rock and roll. Oasis they are not. Not for me, guy’s annoying. Couldn’t finish it.
Cat: the only song I’ve ever heard from them is the first track Highway Star, and holy smokes does it rip! Makes me wonder why I never dug deeper. They groove harrrrrrd. Oh yeah, and smoke on the water. They’re all really great musicians. Not every song hits, but they are great! AJ: awesome time. Just rock and roll fun. Thought highway star was Judas Priest my whole life. They crush.
AJ: sing harder, boy o!!! Kings, really. Cat: this is good but every song is the same.
FART
AJ: So smart. So violent. One of the best to ever do it. Not my favorite of his, but man he’s so good.
AJ: First 5 songs are great. Do not need the rest. At all. Jenny opener is top notch. Cat: I never really cared for the two songs I knew were the Killers (somebody told me and me bright side). I do really like all the things I’ve done and didn’t know it was them! They have a cool sound. Very 80s. They’re alright
AJ: I bet he did shoot the deputy. Fucking asshole. Politics aside… god dammit I’ve always loved Eric Clapton’s sound. Voice and guitar. Smooth operator. Not exactly a poet lyrically, but he sounds so good. Wouldn’t drink a beer with him, though. How can he have so many cool friends if what they say is true?
AJ: Townes without any poetic talent. Cash with nothing to say. Weird album cover. I didn’t like this guy at all.
Cat: I enjoyed listening to this. 90s melancholy one minute, 90s punk the next. Some of the lyrics are meh. AJ: singing about emotions without any emotion. Weird vibe. Find myself wanting to like it but I don’t.
AJ: My dad loved this album. I’ve known it since I was young. Used to think Wild World was the coolest song ever. Lol But really, one of my all time favorites… Miles From Nowhere. 🩵 It’s funny how songs change and mean more the more you grow and change. Oh, and… Father and Son. 💙 Shot to the heart every time. Even when he was physically still here. My best friend, and still managed to bang heads once in a while. Just the way it is. Cat Stevens really seemed to sing his soul from the soles of his feet. Band feels like a tribe. Spiritual force. Maybe a little to spiritual at points. For me, anyway. Love his voice. Love when he randomly decides to sing hard. Makes me smile every time. Cat: Just really beautiful music and really beautiful messages. Very much enjoyed the whole thing. Don’t think I’ve heard it all before.
Cat: this is sick AJ: they’re cool as hell.
AJ: a group of young Brits got the blues and then heard Chuck Berry and they said, “Let’s do that.”
AJ: 🤯 🫠
AJ: vocally and musically the two of them and the band all sound really good. Some songs are a little slow, and some of the subject matter is a little wonky. But they really do sound quite good. The title track is easily, my favorite.
AJ: sooo I’ve listened to Metallica the same way I started with Pearl Jam. I didn’t listen to albums right away besides Ten and The Black Album. I liked a couple tunes on Ride the Lightning before my mom threw it away. But through radio and live albums I heard a lot of both of their popular songs. So hearing Master of Puppets as the second song on an album instead of a car chase montage is really cool. Never knew it was 8+ minutes! Crazy assholes. So heavy, so fast, but so tight. Fuck Lars. 🤘🏻 Cat: pure gasoline. Just epic shit. The guitar harmonies, the time changes, all masterful and legendary.
Cat: Man, I love Steve Winwoods voice! Not all of these songs hit for me.
AJ: Legend
AJ: listening late, bet it’s good!
AJ: nice acoustic guitar sounds, weird poet lady. Yikes. She does Tom’s Diner. Do do do do, do do do do, do do do do do do do do…
Cat: high energy and incredible, iconic vocals. The things this man could do with his voice are like no other.
AJ: lol 1989 sex songs Hahaha AJ! Cat: it’s not for me. Steven Tyler sounds amazing.
AJ: cool dude with a loose mood. Believes in his weirdness and has perfected it.
AJ: Sting’s funny. They’re so good. Fuckin a.
AJ: Age is my favorite song. Duh. Fucking rock band. Band goes hard and lead vox lady rips it. Getting a 3 from me but they’re cool.

Cat: this is the second time I’ve had to listen to Alice Cooper 🙄 I have always liked School’s Out. The cat one is lame af. I guess it’s supposed to be fun and tongue in cheek. More trashy sex rock. Cool horns here and there. Just not for me. Was groovin a little to Public Animal 9 AJ: School’s Out is a cool song, always makes me think of Dazed & Confused. Other than that? Fuck off with this shit.
MEH
AJ: some tracks are excellent. Couple snoozers. Cool piece of punk rock art overall. Appreciate what they were doing. Stayed fast for the most part, with much more to say. America. Idiots. Idiots as far as you can see. Jesus of Suburbia clocking in at 9+ minutes… not exactly Dookie. Quite a ride. Holiday is such a great song.
Apparently the start of New York city punk. A pretty good rock ‘n’ roll band. Not exactly my cup of tea, but punk is punk. Take it or leave it.
NOPE
Bang the Gong! Get it on!
Classic. Genius. Awesome. It all sounds the same after awhile tho, so I wouldn’t listen front to back too often. But can’t deny their talent.
Cat: Fuck yeah
Cat: this was cool! Sounded great, very different even though some of it was different in a weird way. I’d revisit this and dig in more.
Some of it was fun and cute, some was edgy, some was very, very meh. Really wanted to like it more.
Cat: Stevie is amazing. His music is always so soulful and joyful! And funnnnky. You Haven’t Done Nothin’ is an all time banger.
AJ: folk…ska…? Come on, Eileen.
AJ: This was pretty cool. Lots of really cool songs, a couple slow bois but overall pretty cool. I like his voice but found myself getting tired of it at points. But it really hits in a few songs. The band is tight as hell. Hipster rock. 3 Cat: this was cool and cute! Loved how his piano stuff was the focus on parts.
Cat: It’s gritty and weird and smart and emotional and I love it. I love how experimental it is without being “weird for the sake of weird”. It’s creative. Thom Yorke’s voice is eerie and beautiful.
Cat: Ugh it’s just so good. Dre shows why he’s a legend here. Masterful production and sampling and rapping. I knew all these songs without realizing I knew all these songs.
A.J. This guy sucks
AJ: blues. folk. soul. Great voice with some cooky voice moves. She seems cool as hell.
Cat: voice like an angel! Some cool stuff, some nice stuff, but the Latin rhythms get kinda old for me.
AJ: How Do You Sleep..? is my favorite track. Imagine is iconic, duh. Pretty cool. All Things Must Pass it is not. The walrus was Paul.
Cat: never dug into Bowie. I know and like what I know and like. This album is great! It’s groovy and funky and rocking. Could do without the weird noise track. Cried during Heroes. AJ: Same for the first two points, for sure. Album is pretty cool. He likes Pink Floyd and did some of their tricks in the middle no words zone. Pretty cool. Last track about Arabia is a jam, with stupid stupid words. But I like it. It’s got Bayliss claps. Getting a 3 on Heroes alone.
Cat: CCR is definitely a vibe! Bluesy and gritty. AJ: muddy swamp blues. Songs about hound dogs and moonlight and hound dogs in the moonlight. And trains. Rhythm section is rocksolid, and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the guitar jams. CCR is for everyone. and everyone should listen every once in a while. #Chooglin
AJ: nyc drug folk orchestral melodies. Sounds pretty good musically, his voice is cool too. Not something I’ll listen to again.
AJ: I’ve never listened to an R.E.M album. Drive is dark and awesome. “Hey kids, rock & roll..” Is everybody hurts the saddest song of all time?
Not trying to cause a big sensation…
Cat: This fucking band. Bonham is a truck. Page is incendiary. Plant is a God. Jones is so solid. This is rock n roll. As far as this album goes, of course it’s good. Wouldn’t say it’s top 3 zeppelin albums for me, but it has some fantastic stuff. AJ: ☝🏻
Cat: probably pretty groundbreaking in 1978. It’s synth pop and can get repetitive but what they’ve done is actually pretty cool even today. The vocals/lyrics are kinda tough. The music is dancey and got a good groove. AJ: 🤖🌎 the “music” is ok but robovox is not for me. synth poop.
🐐
Nuuike
AJ: 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Cat: high energy classic rock n roll. Listening to Angus shriek for an entire album is a lot. Fun as hell tho
Cat: he’s weird. I love his voice and what he’s saying but there’s a weird intensity and industrial sound that’s off putting. Not my fave by him. AJ: Two Words: Phil. Collins.
Cat: really good stuff, just a bit too hard for me
AJ: Amazing. Fucking amazing.
Fuck off Bullshit
The fuck?
Oh shiiiiiiit this is at least a 4!star album. My favorite from the Beastie Boys front to back.
5 stars! Just kidding. But there are some bangers on here. This is his first solo album, and it’s way more soulful and r&b than *NSYNC, although there are a couple boy band songs on here. Great dance music
AJ: Does anyone like this guy’s music or do we all just want to fuck him? Hippie, Prince, funk band leader… pick one, you stink at all of them. I am not gonna go you’re way. Now you know.
Cat: some songs are classic, heavy, dancey, poppy. But I didn’t realize the singer could be so Angus Young screechy. Great guitar work. AJ: PHOTOGRAPH!!!
AJ: Booooooooooo Cat: As with many artists, not the worst thing I ever heard until the vocalist opens their mouth. I do like the North America Scum song because it reminds me of Stepbrothers
AJ: “Glad” I checked this out. There’s jams! They’re a real good band. There’s flutes! Weirdos.
Not for me
AJ: My dad actually showed me this album. Heard em on the radio probably and turned into one of a thousand “found this at newbury’s!” albums. It’s good, simple rock and roll. Good vibe. They sound like a lot of bands I love. The video for Lonely Boy (not on this album 🤣) is an all timer. It’s a 3, but it’s getting a 4 from me. Cuz i said so.
Cat:I don’t know why I thought I was gonna hate this. I really liked it! He is seriously talented. Feel like there’s a mix of genres happening here. Little sister is Beatle-y/Billy Joel-ish. The One you Love sounds Radiohead-like. Old Whore’s Diet could be Paul Simon. Rad.
Cat: just about as boring as can be.
AJ: cool jams. Psycho dellic nonsense. Had me till porpoise mouth. Too. Much. Acid.
Cat: I wanted to like this. I did not. Her voice is super cool but also so annoying I couldn’t keep going. AJ: saw her open for Neil Young and her energy was insane. She’s a poet. But she definitely isn’t something you just pop on. Because the Night is great, but it ain’t on here. I’d love to sit and talk to her. But a lot of her stuff ain’t really for me.
AJ: porque Cat: I liked it.
Cat: instant 5 stars AJ: an album of miracle and wonder.
AJ: “Something is happening here and you don’t know what it is, do you..?” “How does it feel to be such a freak?” Political poetical. Blues folk for folks with blues. Such knowledgeable non-sense. Could never do it all the time, but most of the time at least it rhymes.
Age: Legendary, og jazz. Crazy.
AJ: Oasis-y. Maybe the best Brit pop band besides Oasis that I’ve heard, maybe? Eh.
AJ: not for me
AJ: one of the greatest track 1’s ever. Heartbreaker Maid. Tolkien. Bonzo is fucking crazy. Thank You. Cat: Perfection
AJ: drunken new jersey story telling ridiculousness. It’s ok.
AJ: Rock City rocks. Beth rules because of Paul Rudd in Role Models. Shout it Out Loud sounds like it was made for That 70’s show.
AJ: Iron Maiden is a good time. Run to the Hills might be my favorite.
AJ: 80’s Metallica is way more scary than 90’s Metallica.
AJ: At least it’s got Pictures of You on it. Oh and this 311 song!!
AJ: pleasantly surprised. Maybe. I didn’t listen. Just a hunch.
AJ: buzzin
AJ: my second favorite Dylan album. So many great songs. Fizzles at points but there’s more than a few tracks that i absolutely love. Now give me Blood on the Tracks.
AJ: got through 5 songs. They made some good noises but it’s really not for me at all. I Want You was pretty ok but I think that’s mostly because the title made me think of Cat. And Bob Dylan’s I Want You, so then I listened to Blonde on Blonde.
AJ: the fuck? Cat: I appreciate the message, I’m just not in the mood. Guess I’m part of the problem. Michael Franti produced this!!
AJ: might be the most country dude I’ve ever heard. What a voice. What a drunk!
AJ: pretty cooooool
Cat: reminds me of my mom big time. Dancing in the living room. Most of the songs are all time hits. Janet had a message. 4 stars.
AJ: whackadoo euro pop rock. Some catchy, some weird as shit. Not for me. But could be cool if I was high enough. I’m not high enough. Not for me.
Cat: it’s the Beatles White Album. I think you start with perfection and talk your way back, which is really hard to do. Beautiful songs. Rock and roll songs. Fun songs. Love songs. There are other albums I say I like more, but this has everything.
AJ: for some reason I am annoyed by John Lennon lately. Just having heard he was a piece of crap. I dunno. I listened to 2 songs and they’re John Lennon songs.
Cat: this is the music they play on the resort tvs on the guide channel. Cool moooooood music tho
I don’t wanna listen to this. I know the first song. It’s fine. More like Nono Cherry
AJ: the stones are awesome and I should listen to them more. Sympathy for the Devil opener!? Jigsaw was great, had never heard it. Streeet Fightin Maaaaan. They good.
Cat: pretty good. Blues rock and a cool voice
AJ: nope. Scrolled for a half hour trying to find this album. Dude put out thousands of records apparently. One song I clicked sounded cool musically, but honestly, hard pass. He gets Madonna’s stars.
AJ: Sweet Emotion rules. That’s it for me.
AJ: lasted 30 seconds. No bueno.
AJ: just give me stop making sense.
Cat: excellent. Best Black Sabbath. Just enough rock to balance out just enough evil. AJ: 🤘🏻
AJ: I like a few doors songs. More than Cat for sure. 3. Now can we talk about the rock & roll album Paranoid by the British band Black motherfucking Sabbath!? Fucking RIPPAH. Absolute RIPPAH. Oh my satan. Should’ve been a 5. Forgive me, sweet Catherine. I’ve sinned. HOT DAMN. ROCK & ROLL. Cat: drunken buffoons. Kinda like Soul Kitchen. AJ: I like soul kitchen too
AJ: rock and rollllll, jersey boy
Cat: one of my faves from the Beatles
Cat: it’s Elvis. Classic. Not really my thing but pretty cool.
AJ/ wobble my ass
AJ: fast & loud. Lotta songs, little time.
Cat: I liked it. Rock and rollll
AJ: 🤘🏻
Cat: dancey and weird and goth
AJ: had forgotten I’d heard this album a decent amount when it came out. Pleasantly surprised to remember a lot o the songs. I think they’re great on this. Every instrument sounds so strong, but also shiny. Jangly pop rocks. I like it a lot.
AJ: feel the rhythm with your hands
AJ: I didn’t listen. I don’t want to. He’s a trash bag. Some classics on here, and a live album was a surprise. Getting a 3 for the legend, but he seems a dick.
Cat: cool vibe, classic shit, pretty good AJ: I’m all for some distortion. Rhythm section doesn’t quit. Iggy is useless. 10 minute “song” of the same noises and grunts in the 3 spot? Stupid. Some cool sounds, not for me.
Cat: the music is really good and very cool, but HOLY FUCK IS THIS WEIRD AJ: 👎😐
AJ: Joni is awesome. Listened to a few tracks on YouTube. Piano and a voice. Joni is awesome.
AJ: sounds kinda cool. 3shhh
AJ: gibberish and nonsense and great bass and Frusciante and sometimes I love them and sometimes it’s whatever.
AJ: “The Way I Am” ruled when this came out. “Stan” was craaaaazy. He’s a goat.
AJ: the most San Francisco-y
AJ: explicit rascal.
AJ: psycho deli c hounds
AJ: Band on the Run is great. Jet is ok. Let Me Roll It is a rompah. Best Beatle, really. “….all I need is a king today” If we ever get out of here. My dad wasn’t a big fan of Wings, so it’s a 3 instead of a 4
AJ: Gangster rap kings, fer shizzle
AJ: more bluesy San Fransychodelica. Wiki says they were an early influence on metal, can see that. These kids were on the pot.
Cat: I really like this! Very creative and different AJ: my first new Radiohead album. At least the first new one I cared about. First one I was there for? It’s pretty good.
Cat: I really liked this.
Cat: this MFer funky as hell. Sneaky.
AJ: Australian Oasis..? Only listen to a few quick parts. Sounds ok.
AJ: when it first came out I loved it. Wrote lyrics in my notebook and everything. They’ve lost some shine in my life but some of their songs mean a lot to me. Including a few on here.
AJ: fart
AJ: ooooweeeee oooooo
Cat: 5 stars. My absolute favorite A Tribe Called Quest album. Masterpiece. AJ: Oh?
Cat: he’s got a great voice and the music is good. Catchy. I dig it.
Cat: baby makin music. Great bass lines, funky organ and guitar, smooth voice.
AJ: that boy good!
AJ: Aerosmith has 47 albums in the top 1,000!? Stop it. Cat: lol
AJ: this is fucking excellent. Cat, listen to this. Lots of strange synth sounds, then they’re an indie rock band. Lots of build ups and peaks. I love her voice. I love the drummer. It feels so weird that I love this. They’re so weird, I love this. Imagining sunset set at a huge festival, thousands of people on good happy drugs. Big unified bounces an smilies and wows. I’m stoned. It was a good ride home.
Nick Drake again? Who’s he think he is, Aerosmith? Folk playing layers. Kinda nice. Poetry with a weird voice.
Cat: LOVE 4/5 stars AJ: instantly pictured you on your white house walk montage with Mr blue sky as the song playing
AJ: The most 1992 thing I’ve ever heard, catchy, pop grunge. But he sounds bored and so I feel bored. Mrs. Robinson rules, tough.
AJ: welcome to your life
AJ: excellent
AJ; Gorillaz originz
AJ: read the wiki. Hard pass.
AJ: Peg!
Cat: sounds cool. Lyrics are terrible.
Cat: classic. He flows so well. I can’t relate to what he says but it’s storytelling nonetheless
AJ: talented and angry. Dangerous.
Cat: this is like of early Radiohead and later Radiohead had a baby. I like this a lot. And then they turn into the Killers? Crazy.
AJ (wiki, really): Along with other contemporary Liverpudlian groups, The Teardrop Explodes played a role in returning psychedelic elements to mainstream British rock and pop, initially favouring a modernised version of lightly psychedelic late 1960s-influenced beat-group sound (sometimes described as "bubblegum trance"[2]) and later exploring more experimental areas. In addition to their musical reputation, the band (and Cope in particular) had a reputation for eccentric pronouncements and behaviour, sometimes verging on the self-destructive, resulting in the band's
AJ: I’m sure the hotel gang would love this for a bit. It’s funky as hell. Couldn’t do it all the time. Bet Al hated it lol
AJ: The Cure with a lady singer. Honestly listened to 30 seconds.
AJ: nice playing and damn near poetic. The dry deep voice is different, and the songs seem to have no structure. It’s kinda cool, but so strange. Feels like he’s trying to be funny, but it’s just funny.
Kick ass duke!
Afro jazz madness. 4 tracks, 53 minutes. Pretty cool.
AJ: amazing voice. “I just don’t know what to do with myself” is on a white stripes album. Very different here lol.
AJ: decent pop rock sound. Vox are annoying. Not for me.
AJ: Homeward Bound is wonderful. Paul Simon is amazing. The vocal harmonies are amazing.
AJ: Tiny Dancer opener!? Levon!? 4. But also… 3.
NO! -Cat
HOW BOUT NO! -Us
AJ: always thought they were cool, but I don’t know why. Guess cuz everybody says so. I only know the hits, but the ones in here are great. And Eryka Badu is on here and Cat loves her.
AJ: 3 for Young Americans and Fame
Cat says bad
AJ: picture in a frame is all I need. Man’s a poet. A dark gollum growling poet. Just… Just give me picture in a frame a hundred times.
Cat: I don’t know why this album in particular gets me fired up, but it does. Great guitar, drums, vocals, bass, everything. Lyrics are alright haha
AJ: this is fucking terrible. Got excited to hear These Days. She manages to ruin one of the most beautiful songs of all time in 20 seconds. What a fucking idiot.
AJ: Good luck
AJ: Legend. Legendary.
Five starrrrs
AJ: pop rocks!
👊
AJ: pop punk. Fast and dumb.
AJ: no matter how “indie” you are, the first song on your album can’t fucking suck this bad. 5 minutes I’m never getting back. Sounds like mmj without any feeling at all. Which is hard to do. Tin can vocals aren’t cool, you sound like shit.
AJ: haven’t heard Babylon in like 25 years. 13 year old AJ secretly loved this very serious love diddy. Pleasantly surprised by some of these songs. Very cool musically and he’s very poetic. “My oh my” my made me write some. Appreciate that too.
AJ: saw them open for Pearl Jam once. So that’s a 3. Not my cup of tea, but they’re a rock band.
Cat: not bad but not for me. I like her positive female message lol
Cat: this is kinda fuuuuun. Actually kinda badass
Cat: they’re at this cross-section of kinda cool and kinda weird. Ah, golden age I recognize. Makes sense. AJ: I AM A GOLDEN AGE!!!
AJ: electronic and British.
🎄 🕺🏻
AJ: Pressure Point was in one of my old video games. Baseball if I had to guess. It’s fucking great. These guys are The Kinks-y and White Striped. Modest Mice. Fucking weirdos. Good job. Would t-shirt.
AJ: Musically pretty cool. Vox are not for me. Show Girl was cool. But dude’s voice lasted 5 minutes for me.
Cat: Meh. It’s cool but then nothing happens
AJ: 🤘🏻 🍕
AJ: harmonizing hippies!
FRANK
Amazing voice. Jess loves her. 3? 3.
If peeing your pants is cool…
Rockroll band.
Cat: Yikes
Cat: great grooves, pretty classic! Some is meh and something seems off. But all in all they’re pioneers
Son of a Preacher Man is on this. One of the best songs of all time?
BRING IT ON HOME TO ME, MR SOUL
My favorite album of all time. One of the best things that’s ever happened to me. My first band. Mine. Connected forever.
