Vulnicura
BjörkHad to listen to this a few times to make my mind up on the rating I had only heard notget before going into this but yeah I still love Björk if my mood was aligned I would like it even more but its still amazing
Had to listen to this a few times to make my mind up on the rating I had only heard notget before going into this but yeah I still love Björk if my mood was aligned I would like it even more but its still amazing
I'm only on sweet child of mine but this album pisses me off so much I have to rate it now all these bands, groups, singers, artists and albums sound the exact fucking same I had to search up who made "Run to the hills" because I they sound identical to half the songs on this album i want to rate it a 1 out of protest for how bad it is but it's still not Beatles tier bad but me rating it a 2 does not bring me joy the last straw was the WOAH WOAH WOAH MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE and I'M THINKING ABOUT YOUU YOUUU UUU UUU UUU YOUUUUUU screaming
this is genuinely hundreds of times better than their other albums so far, but its still a disappointing mess, all over the place This is what I imagine mentally disabled people living in personal assistance homes listen to. I guess you just had to be there to get it, a sort of if you know you know. This sucks, blows, stinks and every other synonym that fits. I applaud them for not making me rate every single album of theirs a 1
I didnt think this was particularly "good" for lack of a better word, but I loved almost every second of it I found myself singing along to the chorus of several songs, despite it being my first time listening to them, they were that encapsulating. I loved the instrumental track, and songs like The Debt Collector are incredibly charming. Felt myself dancing around a little as I was listening to it. I have rated music I thought was "better" lower but thats simply because, despite it not being as artistically innovating as some of the other albums, its genuinely just so nice to listen to. Will listen to it many times in the future
genuinely the most uninteresting genre
Never listened to before, only heard select songs "Old" comparatively Very same-samey from song to song Start of Extraordinary Girl is nice because its not punk rock and then it becomes punk rock again. tsk tsk Not an enjoyable album, cannot comment on its production quality Thought the last song was incredibly good until I realized that spotify had turned on radio mode and was playing a Gorillaz song LMAO
Nice and mellow Some songs had the instruments channeled strangely, some only showed up in the right channel and some in the left, was distracting 3.5 stars but you cant do half stars
The start of In The Light was dope but otherwise not much to note some "classics" like Kashmir that everyone has heard but not my style
My dad likes the album, I thought it was pretty meh I like some clash songs but none of them are in this album unfortunately
Why do all of these british punkrock albums sound exactly the same This one a bit better than the other ones so far They have a great synth player 2.5/5
I like the flutes in the last song this was just a bad album
classic
not an enjoyable experience
my notes didnt save but it was so funny turning on this album and hearing the #autobahn song decent atmospheric album 3.5
unremarkable in every aspect
really hope that I some day forget that I listened to this decent drummer
meh
its pretty good, 3.5/5
kinda mid, synth was not good but frank zappa core elsewise
short hair gang booba it was alright
banger album, every song is good some songs are great but The Working Hour and Listen were amazing holy shiddd
bad 2/5
my dad would like this sax player was good
it was pretty meh, not good and not bad but slightly bad
these guys are on tour during march thank god I dont live in england 1.5/5
it wasnt bad, nor good 2.5/5 run of the mill, kinda funky in the start but was a bit boring towards the end
not memorable but not bad
trash
pretty d ecent vibes 3.5/5
started decent and went on for way too long i have a crush on the girl in the "First Impression" track
one of my favourite songs is on this album but ive never listened to the full album until now, looking forward to it its really good and has lots of great songs in it
might be one of the worst albums I have ever heard "new york phone conversation" or whatever the album was called was so fucking dumb I wanted to singe all my nerve endings
pretty meh, some good songs but felt baffled at times cuz i couldnt believe it was still the same album with how often it changes genre
pretty decent garage album, some of these songs would be sick samples for breakcore tracks gonna relisten to this again but some of these songs are genuinely so smooth i am in love hold on to me re-dub and radio interlude are real nice 3.5/5
its been 12 hours since i listened to it and I cant remember a single song, thats how bad it was
decent but forgettable
incredibly fresh, will relisten
already liked Fela Kuti, now I like him more
shred in the first song is insane, the distortion and the reverb is crazy the rest was kinda mid, not as good as the opening track
i jerked off to furry porn yesterday and today I get told to listen to an album by the "Super Furry Animals" at least I enjoyed myself yesterday
this sounded like an amateur heard a disney song and a Johnny Cash album and decided to emulate those two together
pretty decent for boomer rock, expected worse but was pleasantly surprised 3.5/5
always heard this album was a classic but it was kinda meh, his other stuff is way better School Spirit was sick and I've always liked Last Call
decent background music, i like the glockenspiel(?) in Ill Spend My Life With You but its not anything crazy good (looked it up and apparently its a celeste, not a glockenspiel)
last song was okay, the other songs sucked
decently nice to listen to i like it 3.5/5
kinda meh
it was kinda good but also not moody keygen core music
i never liked pop
impressive vocal register, pretty okay album
2nd song was ok, kinda well known but the rest of the album was meh
it was ok
better than i expected but still meh
first half was really nice and funky, latter half fell off a bit
ive tried to listen to this for almost a week now, i think ive heard the first song 18 times and the last song once because i keep losing focus every time its veryu ninteresting but its not bad, if 1st song was better then it would be a 3
really nice
its nice, the John Barleycorn song is a hit
so avant-garde i thought it was schizo at first you can tell he was old as balls when this was recorded not too bad tbh
was kinda meh, real inoffensive hick music got tired of the harmonica real fast
pretty decent album, it would be a 9/10 if i was currently on an mdma comedown and having a mental breakdown
it was alright, ive heard the first song before and it made me think the entire album would be as good but alas not
decent for boomer rock space caravan is a nice track ive listened to it for a few years
first song is the meme song, its pretty good but then the album falls off
listened to this with my dad both of us were waiting for it to end
it wasw pretty nice actually, She Is Suffering is a really good track 3.5/5 but cant rate it that so ill give it 3
pretty sick album, some really good songs and some really bad songs, averages out
disraeli sucks
too long kinda meh Sea of Tears was alright
i heard good things about talking heads so i went into this with high hopes this album sounds like you gave a bunch of tribute bands the challenge to make a completely new song using Psycho Killer as their inspiration holy shit this album sounds the exact same throughout and it sucks major balls
my notes disappeared but this is one of the worst albums ive ever heard
actually trash i hate boomers and their "music" with a passion
its was bad but kinda okay
its was bad but kinda okay
it was pretty good actually
this album was sick, liked every part im on listen 4 in a row, both having listened to it standalone and whilst doing other stuff and man... its so good some stagnant moments in songs such as Nadia and Anthem without Nation but songs like Nostalgia and Tides more than make up for it hoooooly, Tides is such a beautiful song will need to relisten to this tomorrow again before rating just to be sure, preliminary rating is 5 despite the few less interesting tracks just because the rest carries it to those heights but this might change to a 4 after the honey moon phase has passed its a 4, Nadia and AwN take up too much of the runtime unfortunately but still a great album
highly unremarkable. i really despise this genre
last song was really good, the rest was pretty okay
pussy repellant music
also pussy repellant music but not too bad
kinda okay kinda meh
took me a while to listen to because the first song is so good i kept replaying it for several days modern man is also okay rest of the album is mid
its bad but its good, i dislike it but im vibing along with it i dont get it but its alright
I CLENCH MY FIST AND BEAT IT aside from that this sucked
surprisingly better than expected
that last song was so bad 2/5
pretty good actually 3.5
also pretty nice 3
was expecting trash, was greeted by okay and then it turned too long and repetitive
I was initially listening to this using the speakers on my phone as I was out on a walk in the woods. After the first minute of the first song my expectations were that I was not going to like the album at all but by song three or four I realized that I had to turn the album off and listen to it properly with good headphones the album is actually sick. songs like Piggy, Heresy and The Downward Spiral hit hard as fuck and Ive relistened to them several times and will be relistening to this album. Closer is a good song too but its not the best on the album, solid chip core audio tho its 3 am and im just relistening to this album over and over, its so good might genuinely be one of the greatest albums ive heard. its beautiful reading up on the backstory on the album i found out that the song Hurt is a nine inch nails original and that Johnny Cash's version is only a cover thats crazy while I had to argue whether or not Beyond Skin was a 4 or a 5, the difference in enjoyment between these are so incredibly vast and apparent that I cannot give this anything but a full score
really boring
first album so far I go into expecting it to be good as I have listened to Gimme Shelter and Monkey Man a lot prior It changes genre too much but I guess this was good back in the hippie age of "lets just throw random shit in because us junkies wont be cognisant enough to listen to it anyways"
The Whale was alright, rest was really boring but not bad
the Joan of Arc song was pretty nice, the rest was not bad nor good
cant imagine why this is one of the 1001 albums you have to hear before you die i dont like genrefluid albums and the good parts (jazz) were too inoffensive and safe
yeah i agree with u pretty good
it was pretty alright 2.5/5 but ill give it a 3
the string section of Conversations was the only good part in the entire album. 4:19 to 4:37, 18 seconds of beauty was all I got out of this I had to pause the music and walk away during several times Genuinely a terrible experience
San Andreas vibes
a cute album they sound like they had fun
first impression: thought it was going to be bad a bit further in: maybe itll be good final opinion: boring
it was alright but not spectacular 2.5/5
it was alright
it was decent the ensemble of instruments reminded made me think of medieval europe for some reason 3.5
only redeeming quality was that it was short
the start was decent (the first few songs) but then it turned into the same ol snorefest beatles shit at least not a 1/5 this time
it was alright moviing out is really good though
it wasn't very effective.
it wasnt good last song isnt available in my country maybe it wouldve swayed my opinion (doubt it though) at least it was pretty mellow, easy to listen to
it wasnt good
it was alright. i like massive attack and they have some other really good songs but this wasnt all that crazy
in the start i was grooving along 2.5/5
it was alright, a bit too heavy on the synth/organ for me
pretty comfy ngl 3.5/5
yeah i dont speak french, i fucking hate the french but man their birds are alright
last song carried this to a 2/5 but it wasnt that good
it was a little cute
DESPITE ALL HIS RAGE I STILL KEEP MY GIMP IN A CAGE
it was all right, some decent songs but mostly boring droning
dislike
thank god it was short USSA might be one of the worst things ive heard last song was decent
classic album. almost all songs are good, though i do not particularly like them too much given how safe and radio-sanitized it is
it was all right
i long for the day UK punk rock is off the list of remaining albums
started off weak, had a nice midpoint, fell off a bit again and then ended decent
too samey the fred durst feature was really fitting but the ice cube feature was so incongruent
san andreas-core lol @ track 8's name
some songs ive listened to before, overall pretty alright i guess
why do those 2 guys look like goblins
not my type of metal, this just felt very samey
shame he couldnt decide on a genre it was alright but could have been better
listened to this 4 hours ago. dont remember a single note my own thoughts overpowered it. wholly lackluster but I cant remember it being actively bad
pretty decent but doesnt stand out
i like the mastering they do on their vocals on this album. beyond their popular songs on this album, the rest doesnt stand out much
boring but alright
first song had me amped as fuck, it sounded great and i was ready for something heavy another genrehopping album ZZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzz it was pretty good all things considered. Days of Graduation was really good and Three Great Alabama Icons was really nice, it reminded me of H2O Gate Blues by Gil-Scott Heron that we listened to album #72
eh
first half was uninspiring, third song was good and then it fell off again
THIS IS REAAAALL RADIO MUSIC https://i.imgur.com/bdNo99O.png
Ive heard good words about Jeff Buckley but never Tim Buckley I can see why
still better than the beatles
boring boomer music
genuinely the most uninteresting genre
it was all right
it was pleasant, nothing crazy but it was nice was surprised when I heard Lovesong, didnt know she made a cover of that song
Had to listen to this a few times to make my mind up on the rating I had only heard notget before going into this but yeah I still love Björk if my mood was aligned I would like it even more but its still amazing
Cherokee was nice, the rest was really boring
i dont like old-timey love music or whatever
first song is comically bad but i like the "fwoOmph" snare sound
been a while since I listened to an album on the day it was supposed to be listened to i hate rock so much it got better when it turned almost medieval in its sound with the flutes and guitars
oompah radar is so silly i love it
it was all right for what it was memorable lyric: "I'm shaking like a schizo"
also all right for what it is i like the album cover
reminds me of that art project where they have women try to read books whilst sat atop a sybian this has so much vibrato / voice trembling that it sounds as if they are also doing that
catchy at times but not for me
i agree, the first song set an upbeat mood that the rest of the album failed to deliver on but it was still all right
by process of elimination I can rule out Paul McCartney from being the bad part of Beatles
during the first few songs I thought "all boomer metal sounds the same, this stuff sounds exactly like the "Run to the hills" group" imagine my shock a bit later
this is heavenly. Dirge, the distorted guitar and melodic synth in Flying, the trumpet(?) in Aladdin's Story, the cover image is so beautifully composed only gripe I have is that Soul Auctioneer is very monotonous
really pleasant listen but I didnt particularly like it which is why I cannot go above a 3
pleasant jazz but not my type of jazz does not generate any interest in watching the movie
this was all right background music but it wasn't good
I dont like queen, never have, and this was not the start of me changing my opinions on his music not actively annoying though, decent music that was meh for me
kinda boring, wasnt streinous to listen to but not good
I wanna give this a 4 but this album has some of their weaker songs I do sometimes go around saying the "I was looking back at you to see you looking back at me to see me looking back at you" line to myself though, it rolls of the tongue
it wasnt bad but incredibly boring
Bittersweet Symphony is genuinely one of the top 5 most beautiful songs I've heard but the rest of the album falls so flat comparatively. Want to give it a 4 because of how easy and smooth it was to listen to but despite that, the songs werent all that good
all right background music but it wasn't good
This did not cure my headache but I did fall asleep because of it. It was bad but I cannot rate it poorly as it helped me in my time of need
I cant imagine who would listen to this more than once
meh, not actively unpleasant but very boring
decent listening music, incredibly weak 4 but its because I didnt want to give it a 3
all of the songs are incredibly samey and the songs themselves sound incredibly same throughout the few minutes they last at least concrete jungle had a little guitar riff to break up the monotony
it's strange but I fuck with it
rating this a 4 because I know that one day when I am feeling incredibly defeated, probably over a girl, I will love this album. as of today its a 3.5ish maybe
interesting but became a bit boring. not bad just kinda eh
He definitely shines in this album in a way that he didn't in the previous one we listened to, or perhaps he did but I simply could not appreciate it properly He has a very powerful prescense and Steer your Way is a really nice song Overall it was not too crazy but a nice experience. I recommend reading his biography on his Spotify page, I'm about halfway through but it's written really well and is very introspective and captivating
This is not the sound I had associated Prince with, at some points the instruments sound like he is using a ruler held down on a table and using the vibration of the part hanging over the edge as a percussion instrument. Its interesting but not good imo
halfway through, I really dont want to finish the album but I will. At some point they stopped trying to make "music" and instead just played the blood-curling of a woman dying in an industrial meat grinder and somehow that didnt make the album worse than it already was
One of his earlier jazzier albums. Not my favourite but still pretty good 3.5 but its Zappa so I gotta give it a 4
This is more the sound I associate Prince with. Unfortunately, still not good. Purple Rain is so incredibly overrated
I have nothing witty nor interesting to write here this time. It's not good enough for a 5 but its definitely not as hit or miss that 3s are
3,not because it was a mix of good and bad but because despite being so incredibly boring and bland, it was palatable
Kinda cute album, a bit swingy I recognise the first song, it was sampled in that hip hop song that goes "jump on it, jump on it, jump on it" but I cant remember the name of it and I cba searching
tokfu music it was nice and pretty decent but I didn't particularly likenit 4 but probably won't relisten for at least a few years at the earliest
I fw this
was all right
also meh
meh I thought the first song was super racist until I heard it again
really boring, 1.5 but im giving it a 1 im feeling generous
I understand why only one song is still talked about
this is genuinely hundreds of times better than their other albums so far, but its still a disappointing mess, all over the place This is what I imagine mentally disabled people living in personal assistance homes listen to. I guess you just had to be there to get it, a sort of if you know you know. This sucks, blows, stinks and every other synonym that fits. I applaud them for not making me rate every single album of theirs a 1
No song stands out, they're all pretty much the same There was a marimba part halfway through the album that I really liked tho, Hong Kong mambo album makes me want to dance with women in some fancy sunset bar
boring, stick to one genre
it was interesting but got boring incredibly quick broke was decent
listened to this across 2 days, could not remember a single thing from the previous day when I resumed the album. utmost unremarkable
my dad would like this, I don't the last song having that chill instrumental part in the middle of it was really nice tho and I thought the end of Warning being that "just a little bit too strong." thing was cool
I Could Have Lied is the kind of RHCP I like, the rest is the kind of RHCP I dont really care for. I really liked the cover on Jimi Hendrix's song in the end, Castles Made of Sand, really like that song. (Jimi did it better)
too all over the place, Think was good tho
decent, nothing much tbh it was nice to listen to and kinda reminded me of christmas time, the kind of genre of jazz thats popular then
I didnt think this was particularly "good" for lack of a better word, but I loved almost every second of it I found myself singing along to the chorus of several songs, despite it being my first time listening to them, they were that encapsulating. Will listen to it many times in the future
idk man
yet another album that leaves me wondering why it's on the list
the third Bob Dylan album so far. even if war broke out and every record and cd in existence was destroyed aside from any of Bob Dylans discography i wouldnt listen to this
The title was a lie
Its an experience I love how all of the songs are made to fade into each other
I saw someone rate this album as incredibly uninspiring with Intro as the only good song. Insane how much I disagree with them. This was just art all the way through, maybe not the strongest 5 I've given (like Parklife) but I do think its much better than all of the 4s Ive given that I can remember Ive listened to Intro, Crystalised and Islands way too many times throughout the years and I will continue but perhaps add other songs from this album into the mix. I was introduced to The xx through reckfuls stream. Man I miss him so much
actually really liked it compared to the album Timeless by Goldie that we listened to many 'a months ago and is listed in the description as the 2nd of two defining drum and bass releases of the 90s. I shared with you the only review I read on the global review list. "I know you want to slip your fingers down your knickers as soon as you hear the first note, but please resist temptation and let this musical journey rape you into submission instead. What an outrageous record, that drips its gooey semen into your ears and sits back and watches as you struggle to shake it out. Your ears are brimming with cum and there's nothing you can do about it."
idk it was just too long and had too many songs that werent really music
i expected this entire album to be as good as riders of the storm but no, not even close still giving it a 3 just because that song is so good NFS Underground had such a good soundtrack
really smooth
Really smooth. Pyramid song is such a masterpiece genuinely Not their best album but the fact that Im giving them a 4 despite this says a lot about RH
>this album was generated on his birthday thats funny Its decent, it has too many filler songs that dont really fit the mood but the songs that do slap are so good so I cannot with a good heart give this lower than a 4 as well
weak 4 but I like it, the latter 2 songs arent as captivating as the first two I think they might even be ordered in the album in the way I would rate the individual songs
this is super interesting but my anxiety was at a hightened stage during the entirety of it it does deserve its #1 lowest rating on the site award but its still better than the beatles, sincerely
I love this it reminds me of Fishmans by Fishmans which is another 5/5 in my eyes so beautiful
this was bollocks indeed so bad and unmemorable that I didn't even realize it looped and I listened to the first 2 songs again
I watched a documentary about the Beastie Boys and they talked extensively about his album and all of their other stuff Boring. I like the mixing theyve done to their vocals. Makes me nostalgic for the old GTA:SA days
It was all right, not bad and I somewhat enjoyed it but since I dont actually like this stuff I cant give it a 3 >Music for old women. I'm neither of those yet >yet 🤨
it was pretty decent for pop-country first song was the best
this is the first review I do from the homepage in months it was cute, I don't think it'd quite 4 level but to distinguish it from some 3 ratings which I found much less enjoyable I'm putting it there it's a 3.7 or so in reality but I liked it enough
half the songs were unavailable in my country but I didn't like it enough to go looking for them. 1957 must be the oldest album we've listened to
Rijahd Gosling very nice instrumentals but I hated the vocals on every single track
It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate It's the song I hate
>tw: no punchline yet I laughed at "they also lit the boss' door on fire once"
This album feels like how crying feels, carthartic It makes me feel like my childhood years when I had a crush, almost like butterflies in my stomach Its so beautiful. This is why I like 1001 albums because I would never in my life had thought "Today I'll listen to a Coldplay album" and discovered this I wish I knew how to express myself about this album but all this album is to me can only be felt by unexplainable emotions
it's better than 3s but weaker than some 4s. probably a 4 tho since it doesn't fit into my definition of a 3 but I will probably not relisten since it wasn't that crazy took me 2 days to finish because I got stuck on Thin Line and relistened to it like 20 times
listened to it and forgot it promptly after very beautiful instruments but I dont really care for the songs. cant choose between 2 and 3 so im flipping a coin
incredibly interesting sound that they manage to do nothing spectacular with the 2nd half of The Rip (the synth chromaticism/arpeggio(?)) was so nice but the rest of the album was pretty mid 3 for their uniqueness and the synth in The Rip, 2 otherwise
I dont know if I should be happy or sad. I expected some Gary Numan / LCD Sound System kind of mess based off of the album cover and the album/band name but when I turned it on I was yelled at. Though, regardless of it being different, it wasnt any better than any of those two artists
First song sets a tone that the rest of the album can't deliver on interesting that you can hear the Caribbean influence idk 2 maybe, no real opinions but it wasn't bad, mid enough for me to forget it was on nor good for me to enjoy it
if I could remove like 4 songs and remove all the interlude / storytelling parts then this album couldve been a 5 but some songs are just so mid (like Backseet Freestyle) and all the interlude shit
wanted to skip this album many times. took me 4 days to listen to it because whenever i put a song on I had to turn it off a minute later
bland, not good not bad i could listen to it and not want to kill myself I like your cute little graph lole
I had a funny comment but I forgot it it wasn't all that much
the symphony orchestra concept is so cool to me so this was one of the most enjoyable albums so far, even if it wasnt the best the latter half had some more mid songs that didnt fit the concept as well but I still enjoyed it
it was just like the other album, all very samey but not bad i already liked jammin prior and not surprisingly it was t he best song of the album
its a 3 but let it be known this was the most joyful 3 ive listened to so far I think didnt like it that much but I was nodding along the entire way
had one song already saved and had heard another, kinda surprised me meh, your review puts it pretty well
I like rap but I don't like hiphop that much
it sounds nice but i didnt care much for it
felt 3 hours long
I'm only on sweet child of mine but this album pisses me off so much I have to rate it now all these bands, groups, singers, artists and albums sound the exact fucking same I had to search up who made "Run to the hills" because I they sound identical to half the songs on this album i want to rate it a 1 out of protest for how bad it is but it's still not Beatles tier bad but me rating it a 2 does not bring me joy the last straw was the WOAH WOAH WOAH MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE MY MICHELLE and I'M THINKING ABOUT YOUU YOUUU UUU UUU UUU YOUUUUUU screaming
Music for insufferable women
I thought I liked this album but it turns out I only like There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
The kind of music you would hear in a sappy Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks movie about anthropomorphic animals that overcome great tribulations with the power of friendship
Had to listen to this multiple times to figure my opinions out. Initially it started with me wanting to give it a 3 with the review "interesting. if I only rated things off of how interesting they were this would be a 4 for sure but I dont so its at most a 3" after having listened to it kind of half-assed on a pair of shitty headphones. 2nd listen was using my phones speaker as I was out walking my dogs, still had the same opinion as the first initial one but I only managed to finish the first half on this "attempt" so I had Four Cornered Room and The World Is A Ghetto left to listen to, so I figured "why not finish the album with my good headphones at my pc and then Ill rate it. Thank god for that decision. Four Cornered Room and TWIAGhetto are so incredibly sexy when given the proper equipment to be heard out of. Listened to the album another 2 times after that I think
I hope I never have to listen to another band fronted by Janis Joplin The highest praise I can give it is that I could easily forget that it was on
just finished it and cant remember a single song, not even the one that ended 20 seconds ago
liked the first song and thought I was going to enjoy this but it took me a few days to listen through, was a bit bland despite being good
I wish I was one of those people who felt done with an album 3 songs deep, alas I am struck by an affliction that forces me to finish albums no matter how bad and boring they are I am currently halfway through but I need to vent by submitting my review now. No, the remaining half will not change my mind
without the symphony orchestra it's pretty meh, I like his voice but not much more than that nothing else matters is really good tho
2nd song is so good i added it to my own playlist i love brazilian music
I mean, hear me out... I'm definitely relistening to this in due time. Not any time soon, but one day
disliked it but then it became a little charming
not exactly feeling a 4 but its not a 3 and I like the album art so ill give it a 4
does not invoke interest at all but not as bad as the beatles
low 2, bordering a 1 because i listened to this whilst angry and I already hate music like this
not too bad tbh, very long but all right. would never relisten thoughever
enjoyable 3.5
boring
Theres one thing I hate more than christmas music and it's the idea of listening to christmas music in July if I dont bite the bullet and do it now, no matter how much I really want to push this forward. Unfortunately I am unable to separate my dislike for christmas music away from the album at hand so that I am able to listen to it objectively but even when I try, this doesnt even register on the chart of listenable music.
didnt really care. couldve been a 3 if it was an instrumental album
it was nice to listen to but i didnt look up or listen to the lyrics so ymmv >Also wtf is that horn in The Glorious Land lmao I thought that sound came from somewhere else I got faceit flashbacks
hella boring, wish I was doing anything else or not really boring but not interesting on third thought, it was ok it was a little cute actually
when I read "Neil Young" I thought this guy was Chris Isaac and was excited because that guy has some decent songs Took me a while to realize this is another guy It was all right
have liked the first song for years still not convinced that the other 11 songs arent just the same song with different names
Expected more from it. There are the two obvious mega hits and those are good but honestly, the only other song I found stuck out to me was Toilet Tisha
Its jazz and very timeless jazz at that. it's just lacking a bit of oomph, a bit of melodic storytelling for it to be a 5
This album is just like all the women I've been with: Average, not super interesting, a bit whiny and when it was over I was glad I could finally move on with my life
second half brought it down to a 3 very interesting and unique to me
given that I don't take historical context or none of the "lore" into account for any of my ratings, this is just boring jazz to me I have to say, the global reviews for this album has some of the most unfunny people I have read the reviews of since starting this
cute and I kinda liked it, will relisten some day in the distant future
My favourite parts were the screams of death and the wails of the decaying souls in Tarpit, and Toledo. Toledo really elevated this album from a 2 to a 3 "Poledo made me think "damn this was great I want to listen to the whole album again"." same
Just as good as their women
neither good nor bad, doesnt stand out
few really hooking songs and the rest is incredibly boring
zzzzZZZzzzzz

Another timeless classic
I dont think I would be particularly interested in music if I was born back then
I really dislike the genre of fat women singing
I dont mind it
I give up on trying to find a funny response to this album, it sapped all the energy in me
my average Bob Dylan rating has increased by 25% given this great 4th addition to the collection of wonderful albums of his I've listened to
kinda nice but idk, not for me
The few people that rate this low probably saw the dislike button and thought it said "Dis I Like"!!!
the calm songs towards the end were more enjoyable than the rest
high 4
an entire album in the spirit of the last song wouldve been amazing
Still don't like rock
He had one of the smoothest voices in music and Castles Made of Sand is one of the best songs on guitar that exists
when its good its reaaally good but so many of the songs just have so many weird design choices that I cant give it a 4
it's wank
dont see the point of this album 34 minutes run time but felt like it went on for too long
wouldn't even like this if I was an American
instead of showing us the first album of a genre, what if this list showed us the first GOOD album of a genre
latter half was nice enough ill give it a 3
It's BHM, I cant give this album anything lower than a 3
its meh
some good songs, some miserable
listened to this halfassed but what I heard wasnt good enough for me to give it a re-listen with a fair attempt
had to listen to it like 4 times to make up my mind and it got better each time
I thought it was boring but when he started singing Amazing Grace it somehow got worse Americans are so strange
forgot this was on but it was ok
I had not thought about the idea of album covers having their own distinct artistical styles that are influenced by the genre and time that they were made in until I saw this album cover and instantly thought "It's going to be some dogshit hippie rock psychadelic rock garbage" just from my first glance. Not only was I spot on with the genre but also the fact that it was recorded in the hippie era around the latter half of the 60's. Love the last song though
I hate the album cover, I hate the album name, I have the band's name, I have the image they uploaded to represent themselves on spotify, I hate the image they uploaded to their "About us" section on spotify, I hate every single song in the album and I hate each and every track name in this album
Its insane how this album is only 30 minutes long but by the halfway point of the third song I was already checking spotify to see if I was close to the end of the album
The music is ass but everything else about him is really funny
meh not for me but I reaaaaallly liked the instrumental to the first song
not good but not bothersome
radio sanitized, safe and boring Top Jimmy had a nice instrumental
didnt like it super much but I liked the vibe if the oasis album with wonderwall is on this list I will probably like it
bad
back in like 2008 I ran across a guy called Purple Haze on MW2 and, being the child I was back then, thought this was one of the coolest names that I had seen in a while and decided to copy it with my own twist. I ended up running with the name Pink Haze for a month or so until my next fad name came around. It wasnt until a decade had passed and I had started to get more into listening to music that was foreign to me that I found out that Purple Haze was the name of a Hendrix song / a strain of weed. With that said, I don't vibe too much with the album. Unsure if its a 3 or a 2 but since I have heard much worse albums that I have rated a 2 I will give it a halfway rating
it was unable to catch my interest and at times even annoyed me
hella weird
I got a headache halfway through this album and it made my mood pissy
im kinda fw it Venus In Furs was really nice
really not my thing
One of the first albums that, despite not being unlistenable, made me experience great fatigue just listening to it I'm taking this review to very briefly explain the definition of a term I've used and probably will keep using a lot - safe. What I mean when I say something is safe might be self explanatory but the gist of it is when I find that something has been sanitized and scrubbed clean of any potentially element that might be a "love it or hate it" moment. The reason why someone might do this is to make their album or work as palatable to as wide of an audience as possible in order to increase revenue, or possibly due to pressures from record labels or society as a whole which makes the artist surpress their actual interests. I've noticed this a lot with music in the past (likely due to the fact that the methods of music discovery that is present today with youtube, spotify etc didn't exist and you could only make your money if people liked you enough to buy your cd/vinyl) where a lot of it sounds incredibly samey, possibly because thats what you needed to do in order to make a living out of being an artist then. It might also be because of the fact that the only music that survived so long, and as a result ended up on a list filled with a lot of shite like the 1001 albums list, is because it WAS safe, a really wide set of the population __could __ enjoy it and continued to enjoy it for long enough for future generations to know the name of it, i.e. experimental stuff enjoyed by just a small subset of people ended up being lost with time. This is by no means exclusive to old music though, its a very frequent thing even with modern "radio bangers". Just go to the top 100 list on spotify and listen to how incredibly sanitized and uncontroversial every song there is. You would never find a song like Poledo by Dinosaur Jr. anywhere near a list for or by the masses. Anyways, what I mean to say by this is that this album, being a product of its time and the consequences that follow of that, is way too safe almost to the point where it becomes offensive. But, I guess you just had to be there to understand.
Read one of the top reviews and he said that he didnt like the album when it came out and he still doesnt like it "18 years later". "Wow, it must be an older album then, I wonder when it came out? 97 maybe..." For the first time in my life I felt a sudden feeling of nausea from the rapid passing of time. 2004. Two thousand and four. The album is 19 years old and it came out 2004 The album itself wasnt that much my thing but I really like Somebody Told Me
was between a 2 or a 3 for me but I couldnt really get into it, too many songs were just boring. Pleasant to listen to but really boring
took 40 minutes before the first ok song and then no more came very mindnumbing
I dont have many words to describe this album as a whole but one thing I can say is that the song Bye is one of the most perfect songs I have ever heard in my life. Loved the album. I was glued to the lyrics page during the entirety of it. Fun note is how he in the beginning parts of the album goes into the concept of artists and labels being "safe" and profit-motivated as opposed to prioritizing art and creativity. Side-note, apparently there are two bonus songs on the japanese release version of the album of which the song Figure 8 is among them, I recommend listening to it, its also really good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5iu4vURDWI Fuck man... Bye is so beautiful.
idk I really dont like this but I could forget it was on enough for it to be listenable
too safe for me but the fact that his name is Thelonious Sphere Monk is hilarious, dope name
Breadcrumb Trail is one of the best songs I've heard this year if not an even longer time span, I probably have 2 hours of time listening to just that song already. It's just a shame that the rest of the album no matter how much I listen to doesnt manage to get my interest in the same way
really couldnt care less not necessarily bad, just boring out of my mind
would have to pay me to care about a single song on this album
greensleeves made me think of old European cartoons about folklore creatures in the forest and cute stuff like that I really liked the song after this image popped up into my head rest was shite
it started off weird to the point where I /almost/ liked some of it but then it turned into boomer shit again. I feel a great fatigue
A song I really liked sampled Down In A Hole Aside from that, I feel as if the amount of dogshit albums we usually get is inflating the ratings of all other albums I listen to. Had this popped up in the first 50 I probably wouldve given this a 2 but I am almost bordering on giving it a 4 just because of how decent it is relatively to the rest of the shit on this list I want to stay objective and distance myself from comparative reviews but its ridiculously hard and getting harder with each boomer rock album that shows up If a Beatles album showed up tomorrow, who knows, I might even... almost kind of like it? Horrowing thought to ponder.
so fucking boring
pointless but at least listenable
very weird but the kind of weird that I can enjoy because its weird and not weird and bad and why is a group of 4 dudes calling themselves Violent Femmes
interesting on the upper end of 3s
about as interesting as a Tuesday night
it was alright, kinda liked it
As per my Cheap Thrills review " hope I never have to listen to another band fronted by Janis Joplin The highest praise I can give it is that I could easily forget that it was on" Unfortunately none of these came true for this album
some good songs but generally uninteresting or just plain strange
what the fuck am I listening to
once again - what the fuck am I listening to
Everything just blends together after a while
The way the band name was stylized, the album name and the opening riff of the first song made me cheer in my head. "Finally a different album" I thought to myself. Unfortunately, that joy was cut short as soon as they started talking and I realized it was going to be another generic and uninteresting rock album
Ive probably listened to it 5-6 times, both actively and in the background the songs go in and out just as fast as they come so I cant give it more than a 3 but I think its really decent, some songs are 5s imo
first album I wish was longer but theres probably good reason for its length
aggressively dogshit
surprisingly listenable yet shit
its ait not much more to say
perfect music if I were to ever fuck a cougar milf
didn't find the vibe
incredibly pretty Legend of a Child Girl Linda made me feel comforted, like I was being held and sung asleep just like when I was a baby
some really abrasive songs and some actually somewhat interesting ones I recommend watching the Beastie Boys documentary. I saw it with my dad two years or so back when it came out and it was pretty interesting
some really boring songs but some songs that really got me in the mood and im bumping and bopping along with my entire body
I listened to the first 6 songs of this and had to take a week's break to recuperate Best part was recognising that Dean Blunt sampled For You in his song Lush This is not the first album that he has sampled that shows up on this list
I caught the vibe but it didn't take me anywhere. Kinda sad The cute phrase of sax that kept playing in the first song is so beautiful
once in a while I get in the mood to listen to this kind of stuff and today was that day cute album
I hate 98% of this websites user base and their tastes this is so bad
despite "music" being mentioned twice in the name and album of this, I'm not sure if this is actually even music
Can't believe Coldplay was one of the bands to have a 4.5 average from me
I listen to a few of these songs regularly but this isnt their best album imo decent thoughbeit
some parts more listenable than others
bad and the in-group made me cringe in real life but I didnt mind it too much
its a 3 but not a 3 not as bad as the previous album that also got a 2 but idk this felt too repetitive
I said this about another public enemy album but many san andreas songs theyre good in that game but as an album its not good. I didnt like anything but those few songs and I would never listen to this album again
it's strange even for björk too much acapella
it was pretty nice
decent walking music but not good on its own
dislike but it's a high 1
murder mystery is very cool
I hate when albums only available on youtube One good song and a bunch of tolerable ones I guess
meh
2 never cared for italian "music"
2 decent songs but wholly unremarkable
Back when I was just beginning my journey in widening my music taste and listening to new stuff, some of the songs on this album were some of the first few things that served as the stepping stone for me. I remember listening to Walk On By, Friend Zone and Them Changes until I had exhausted them so much I couldnt listen to any of them anymore but it definitely got me more accustomed to listening to jazz. I'm glad I didnt listen to the entire album back then because I probably wouldnt have liked like I do now, now that my tastes have changed and matured a bit more My new favourite song on the album is A Fan's Mail
meh
weird
strange
I really like the wind section on song 2
funky
during no point did I think "Man, I wish I was paying more attention to this music"
its ait Everybody's Talkin' works better like this
its cute
All over the place
I liked it but it wasnt my thing
All the negative reviews complain about the distortion and all the positive reviews praise the distortion I think the distortion and the shoegaze-y vibes of it make it enjoyable I do however always hate these "Extended Version" "Unabridged Release" "2005 Remaster Re-release Expansion Version" albums because they always add another 30 minutes of songs that weren't good enough to be on the album in the first place and still aren't. Only 3 stars if I take into account the extra bullshit
forgettable
don't remember a second
some interesting parts but not enough
Can't believe this album singlehandedly ended segregation
I dont get it
I wasnt into it at first but from Head Down and onwards it was amazing. It made me think of how well this album would go together with the joining together of hands, not in marriage, but solely for the purpose of sating the fleshly desires of the soul. Indulging in lustful hedonism for no purpose other than to drown in pleasure for but a few moments, together. tldr: I want to fuck to this album
Cant tell if this is a band just doing covers? Not my thing
I felt as if some songs didnt transition well into other ones, as if they werent meant to be listened to consecutively like an album is but rather individually but they were still good enough on their own
it wasnt ~~that~~ bad I didnt mind it being on but I didnt like a single moment of it
the first few songs werent that good but i liked his stage presence and how cheerful the prisoners were
meh I realized long ago that the only way to listen to The Smiths and have an enjoyable time is to listen to pre-made "Best Of" albums. If you do that, The Smiths are really good. If not, then they aren't.
Rare 1 star review ^ω^
started out strong but fell to a 3
I actually didnt like it enough for a 3 but the fact that it wasnt some generic shit UK punk or 70s slop made me be okay with listening to it despite of this
background music
started out decent but it just becomes noise the first song is amazing and was a really good fit for the TLoU series
avril lavigne if she was bad
really nice driving soundtrack but wouldnt listen to it elsewise
the only good part how cute she sounded as she said "warrior warrior warry-warrior"
went from a 1 to a 2 by the time I had listened to 1.5x of the album pointless lyrics and very "I'm such a unique person" art student disease
I liked it but its strange
great
listened to this once and forgot to rate it. I did very much not enjoy listening to it a second time
boring but I liked the acoustic guitars soundscape
didn't like at all he sings like I had to sing in front if people and I was insecure about my singing and thus would sing bad and goofy on purpose to cope that I was just pretending to be bad
I love this album. It's one of the closest you can get to hearing angelic hymns Listened to it many times prior and will listen to it many times again
Otherside is a 4.5, rest is decent at best
This album was the great british mistake they were talking about
some decent, some poorer I liked the instrumental parts more than her singing
Never liked Abba. Genuinely never. Their best work is a single throwaway piano section at the end of Chiquitita; everything else is just annoying to listen to. One of the few albums/genres/bands that, despite not being as harsh to the ears as some other albums, still makes me way more annoyed when I am forced to listen to it, be it that they are on the speakers in a grocery store or elsewhere. Maybe it's just the last remaining piece of my childhood that I refuse to let go off, my rebellious youth of disliking the music my parents listened to. Either way, I do support them disbanding and refusing to reunite the group.
Following up on my /Band On The Run -- Paul McCartney and Wings/ review, I can also conclude through process of elimination that George Harrison was not the reason why The Beatles sucked so much. Let It Down was a 5, replayed that song many many times. Was toeing between a 4 or a 3 for this album but the 2nd half of the double album let me down
I really liked the shoegazey songs and the one where they sing a lot I don't care for but they were not annoying to listen to
wasn't super good but it was charming
Don't like 'em
This is the Katy Perry of rock. It's way too safe and I don't like it a single bit. With that said, it wasn't too bad on the ears so it gets a 2
every song sounds the same and every song sucked balls except for Farmer John, which was funny
strange but sometimes ok
Might be my mood but I really grooved with this Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting) is such a nice song but I actually prefer the Nickelback cover of it (linked below). I remember back when I was ~9 years old and saw a video of Battlefield 1942 with that cover on youtube. Great kino but I havent been able to find it ever since. Here's Nickelback's cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7DL1FUQY9U
Offensively boring
zzzzzzzzzz
Space Child is exactly the kind of music that I love hearing from Frank Zappa. ...wait, this isn't by Zappa? Who the hell are Spirit? Anyways, Space Child is a 6/5 but the rest was pretty okay at best
Actually a funny album
too safe, radio sterile
Strange. Only word I have for it. ... kinda like it too
These bands need to stop making intro songs so good that they then cannot deliver on making the rest of the album even close to as good Intro song was a 5 but the rest was just so boring that I'm giving it a 1 because I am disappointed
Music to drink your first beer to 😎 (not too much though, it's a school night!!)
Hot music was mid though
ok driving music but not that good
1 good first song and then 9 dreadful remaining ones
it was cute
If I had to describe this album with one word it would be 'horrendous'. The best part about that word is that it reaches its 'end' faster than the album did
I enjoyed my time listening to this
I listened to this 2 days ago and forgot to rate it but it was cute
decent sound but I dont like this genre at all
Listened to this thrice. Would've given it a 5 if I rated it after the first because I am absolutely in love with the R&B and jazz elements of this album's later half. Though, when I relistened to it, I was reminded of how I didn't really like the first 7 beyond them being listenable. Strong 4
Listened to this once in 2020 when I was in my "music discovery" phase Back then I thought it was okay, most likely because I was a bit pretentious in my music taste, but nowadays I think it's underwhelming
boring but listenable but oh so boring
They were as a matter of fact being REALLY boring
There was a moment where I thought "Oh, it's started replaying from the start. Thank god that was such a short album." just to see that I was only halfway through Every song sounds the exact same and I didn't like any of them.
it was nice, almost a 4 not into scat that much though
some good some bad mostly listenable but i couldnt get into the groove
it was ok but mostly didnt interest me that much. some good songs
Felt like watching a "Best Trailers of 2017 Hollywood Movies!" playlist. The songs are fortunately short enough to not remember but when my half-way fatigue kicked in and I checked the remaining amount of songs and saw how many there were, it did not instill confidence in me
listened to this a few times now and I kinda like it. Thought it would be too long for me but even some of the interludes were fun. Favourites were Reset and Prototype
Listened to this 2 times because I forgot to write the review the first time around The first time around I listened to the first half as I was cooking and I thought it was pretty good. A bit later I had a headache and decided to listen to the latter half and thought it was one of the worst things I had heard. Almost gave it a 1 as a result. Relistened to the whole album now in a neutral state and I kinda like it more than before, almost to the point where I could see myself giving it a 4. Not quite, I could appreciate it
Listened to it with my dad. "It's bad but at least Come On Eileen is coming up soon" By the end of the album I checked to see how many songs were left. There was 1 song remaining and there was no trace of their single recognisable song. What is the point of this album being on the list when this band is a one hit wonder with a singer who can't sing?
Ahead of its time and leagues more listenable, likeable and enjoyable than probably 90% of albums on this list. Incredibly mid in comparison to TLoP but that's an unfair comparison given how good TLoP is
For once, an album I can understand why it is on this list. This sounds so ahead of the time it was released in. I don't know where I have heard Flutes before but it's so good and I was scratching my head trying to figure out why I recognised it when it started playing
Way better than 95% of 3s I have given but not enough for a 4 Heard many of the hits before
smooth, pleasant, enjoyable, listenable one of the rare times that this kind of music would get a 4. It didnt give me much but it was so relaxing
mindnumbingly boring but listenable so its a 2
if I was a bookworm whimsical woman living on my own in a bustling city that never sleeps, I mightve given this a 4
the first half is so sex, he literally just frontloaded all the sex appeal because no one could handle more than that without exploding the latter half is so boring so its a 3 instead of a 4
"The first album of a genre - the record that defined a sound" is an album archetype that we have encountered a lot so far on this list. This must be the first case of the opposite, the last album ever made in a genre. At least I hope so.
Only liked Give Your Best because it was a folk song
They should stick to singing in english
As if an indian weeb had joined the taliban. Gives me those vibes for some reason
If you like this album – FUCK YOU
My dad owns this on CD, it's in his car in fact. Due to this, I have listened to this multiple times since I first heard it back in ~2017 or so. Listened to it another 2 times for this review just to make sure. There's unfortunately a reason why I only remember Chan Chan, or why every time I search "Buena Vista Social Club" I only ever turn on Chan Chan. The album itself isn't bad, nor did I experience a single moment that I disliked, it's just that the rest of the album does nothing for me. Like a fat stripper or plain rice.
One of the few things that I heard as a youngling that has only gotten better as I have grown. This is in itself very impressive to me given that it was already a 5/5 to begin with
Hope the strip club closes down
I have a strong feeling this album is something like sung poetry that I just cannot understand. I was going to listen to this album about a month ago when I found out about it but put it off since I shortly thereafter saw that it was included on this list. As an overwhelming opinion, it's a nice album to listen to. I don't think it would've made any difference if I had listened to it then or now but I liked it. The first song is incredibly pretty
Tried listening to this on my way to school in 2018 when a pair of mormon boys sat across me on the bus and started conversing with me. I never ended up finishing the album but whenever I think of it now I think of them. I probably wouldn't have liked the album to this extent if I had finished it back then, so maybe they were secretly doing me a favour
My review for Supergrass' 'I Should Coco' holds true for this one as well. However, 6 months of thinking has led me to another point I would like to raise: Supergrass? More like super ass.
My review was initially going to be "Michael Jackson for the people who can't forgive MJ for having once been black." I later realized that this guy is also black and that the album didn't sound like Michael Jackson at all past the first half. Still didn't like it, but that would've been a colossally incorrect review had I not came to my senses
it was pretty okay but lacked oomph. no hits and nothing that stood out
nice mellow music. bland but acceptable. would wag a baby to sleep with this on but I would change the record before putting another one into my wife
and it's still better than The Beatles
Elliott Smith but not as enjoyable Would listen again though
Kinda okay actually. first Bowie record that I didn't feel anguish throughout
gets a 1 because I've already heard 500 albums that sound exactly like this
the beats had me head bobbing at times but it wasn't that good imo
meh. 3rd song is decent and had it in one of my playlists already but rest is a snoozer
I appreciate him giving explanations for what characterizes the style of music Good music to zone out to, it was much better than expected
genuinely cant decide what to give this album Hearing the bass come in during Take Your Time for the first time was an insane feeling, and having Shine a Light right after that was cathartic and really powerful but the rest of the album just makes me zone out so much I cant remember a second of it despite listening to the whole thing like 3-4 times Idk, 4 just cus I liked those two mentioned songs that much
you can hear his every wet mouth sound 🤢
I felt the exact same way tbh.
meh. more unique songs than the last album of his we listened to but still not much to care about
strong tfw no gf vibes. would listen again but only when cuddling in such a scenario. a few songs I found really good though
BAD 1 COULDNT GOON TO THIS AT ALL
this album and the one prior to it were headache inducing
I only liked Passenger
palatable but boring boomer tunes
at one point I had forgotten every song except the one that I was currently listening to and thought, maybe I'll give this one a 2. Then I realized I had 45 minutes left and it went back to being awful every song thereafter
listened to 1 song and then turned it off to go listen to the Plants Vs. Zombies soundtrack instead finished that and came back to this album. think I wouldn't have been able to get through it otherwise
boring sappy waste thought this would be Celine dion for a full 5 seconds
possibly the worst thing I have ever heard. not just the length but every single song was absolutely dreadful somehow I would rather listen to the Beatles
really joyful Xica Da Silva was my favourite
bit slow but I could forget it was on
I like unlistenable music but this just felt wannabe
Oasis but worse
okay for being this kind of music
if these people weren't born during the 50s they would've had to get real jobs
About as interesting as listening to my microwave heat up my Garfunkel and Oates porridge breakfast in the morning
earlybird was fun but meh
Finished Eagles - Eagles just before this and this was basically like listening to the same album but worse
so bad it turned funny. actually a terror album shame I can't rate it for funniness or it would get a 3
one of their worst albums
Wasnt my thing but they have some listenable songs
more bearable than 90% of the stuff the latest weeks but I cba I only liked the slow part in To Live Is To Die
I didnt outright /like/ it but I appreciate it. for once it wasn't the same and I enjoyed the process of listening to it
I dont understand how anyone could find this "horrowing" but it definitely isn't interesting
This is the first time thus far that I am changing my rating based on something that wasnt just my opinion of the musical parts. I was firm on thinking it had been a 2-ish experience until "I don't cut my fingernails so it clicks when I play the piano" was spoken. I found that so gross that I had to change the score Sometimes I wonder if I am just doing this entire 1001 albums challenge wrong. Are other people also listening to the entire album from start to end? I've read that some people just listen up until the end of the first chorus before going on to the next song to get a 'general idea' of how they find the song. Is everyone doing this? Albums like this are genuinely unlistenable and youre telling me almost 11.000 people have listened to it? You are nuts.
Cute, playful, warming. Liked it but wasnt enamoured by it
I love electronic music but some of these songs were just annoying Walk Now... almost single handedly sank the score by 1 star
#1 Record on my HATE list. No, it wasn't actually that bad, honestly speaking, it was just boring
It was weird but it fit the mood as I was having a nightcelwalk stargazing
Crazy how these guys have this amount of plays on their songs and I have somehow never heard a single one of these once before Probably for the better, given how much I liked them
Three times too long and five times too uninteresting
I have some amount less than 584000 hours spent awake left in my life and wasting even just 1 hour on listening to this brings me great anxiety
I have some amount less than 583992 hours spent awake left in my life and having spent 36 minutes listening to this has been a great use of my time It's insane how much my mood improved when the first song came on. It might be impossible to not be in the mood hearing that. This happiness buff lasted throughout the entire album and I was half-dancing in the rain and singing along with the bassline just jamming along to the rhythm
I skipped over this album 50 reviews ago because I couldnt listen to it during my commute (due to region locked content) but now that I have finally remembered and gotten around to listening to it I can confidently say that I didnt miss out on anything
The American Pie that I like has more boobs in it
It's like Björk but the only good part is Björk's singing
about as interesting as Christmas music
If not for the fact that this was released 1965 I wouldve thought that this was an album of all covers I guess it doesnt sound that bad for 1965 but we live in the modern times now, gramps, it doesn't hold up anymore
Enjoyable but not anything more than that
the b side clears the a side out the water but it still wasn't enough to carry it out of the sub average grade
I miss when this album generated real music
zzzZZZzzz
what a drag
The radio sanitized slop you'd hear during a skateboard montage in a coming of age Hollywood movie almost gave it a two because I liked Humiliation Street but Good Head ruined it for me a again shortly thereafter
most of my reviews are just repeats of the same 5 complaints. one thing they have in common with this album
never heard the full album before but it has not aged well I like the message and the other songs I've heard in gta but man this album was kinda harsh on the ears
one two three four five six seven all cute tokfus go to heaven I almost kinda liked this, which is a feat given what I think of the Beatles favourite song of this album (since years ago) is the one about bonbi
surely the next album on the list that I listen to won't sound the same as the last 500
at least it's different from the rest of the 1000 albums on the list
Beatleshaterbros.... they can't keep getting away with these 3s.... MICHELLE, MA BELLE
It only took 531 albums but it finally clicked for me. This list isn't about 1001 albums that are worth spending your time listening to (given that the vast majority of them are complete wastes of time and do not sound pleasant to the ears at all) but 1001 albums that you /should/ have listened to for the purpose of partaking in musical history and overall general knowledge of what has been. Even if this album does not hold a candle to anything that has been made since then, I can understand how this guy was literally the coolest thing since sliced bread when he was active and touring. To move on to my review of the album, I can't believe this guy was the Mr. Beast of the 50's, that's crazy
Five worthless albums of his on this list so far and I shiver at the thought of a sixth
Two reviews ago, during my 532nd review, I wrote a little statement about it finally "clicking" for me and how I only just now understood the reason for all of these albums having been included on the list, even the ones I did not personally like and I was able to understand the cultural impact that some albums have had on musical culture as a whole. I rescind my statement. Since that far gone time (yesterday evening) I have listened to yet two more albums on this list of 1001 albums you MUST hear before you die. Those albums were *Bringing It All Back Home' by Bob Dylan and this album that I am reviewing right now. I no longer understand why any of these two horrendous albums are on any list of albums someone ought to have heard according to the music critics and authors of the book(s). I only now realize that it was specifically Elvis Presley that I could understand the cultural importance of; almost all of the other worthless albums on this long list of sonic torture carry no importance and are only there because the author heard these albums once upon a time at a friend's brother's girlfriend's nephew's party that he had attended at the time and the memory of ingesting his first shot of alcohol (4,2% ABV Coors Lite) and getting "totally wicked!!" during the 80s imprinted the names of these groups and their songs into his mind. For my review of this album in particular, the only song I kind of "liked" (very loosely stated) was the one where they weren't trying to sing properly, which somehow made it the most well-sung
maybe I just didn't notice any of the storytelling but this was just music to me
actually made me angry when I realised what band this was. it's just a bunch of shitty cover versions of already boring music
can't even remember caring about a song but at least it was forgettable
a horrible soundtrack to roadtrip to punishing sun was the only song that didn't make me want to turn it off. kinda liked it tbh
This album is just what the insufferable chicks I have an irrational list towards would listen to. By the end of that Bolt Cutters song my dogs were wondering why I was listening to a domestic abuse recording
Liked the first few songs but after that it just became noise SOME TIMES I FEEL I WANT TO (👏 👏) TURN THIS OFF
My biggest problem with good albums on this list is the fact that I can't just be one-and-done with them, I have to listen to them three or four times before I'm satisfied. Had only heard Eple prior to this but it wasn't even close to the best song of the album
they sound like they were having fun recording this but I wasn't as I was listening to it SSX Tricky carried that song
listened to his song Farmer John again. much better than this album
weird I must've zoned out because of the nice first song because the first sentence I actually heard was about high school girls
Was in the mood to listen to sex-music and this album has not once been fucked to by anyone
radio music
forgettable is the highest praise I have for it
couldn't sleep to this, was kept forcibly awake
radio music.... for la noire detective movie women
made me slightly uncomfortable but a good kind. Kinda björkish
not real music
Incredibly unpleasant music but... I kind of enjoyed it Given that I have listened to the last song like 10 times I think I have to give this a 2star
weirdo music desu
I was kinda digging it, felt the groove at times
boring beyond belief. almost made me sad that I didn't forget my headphones
the Beatles but somehow worse
Incredibly sexy music. Don't know a single word of the lyrics but the beats were almost hypnotic; I was completely locked in during the entire hour. The lyrics sounded nice too but I listened to them as another instrument in the track rather than a singer saying things. Almost a 5, all things considered
Before realizing that spotify only had the last 10 minutes of the album available for me, I had zoned out and listened to those two songs for about 40 minutes without realizing. Electronic music has that effect on me and I love it Listened to the full album and it was a bit moodier in full than it was in it's abridged version but I still enjoyed it somewhat
it's a high 3 and pretty interesting
Horrible! Not one enjoyable moment
fell asleep halfway through and woke up 35 min later went back to listen to what I missed and honestly they weren't that good
I heard breakout randomly whilst working out 2 years and probably listened to it over 100 times that year. first time listening to any of the other songs but they were all right. liked Lemon and Jump the most aside from Breakout
Forgot how the rest of the album sounded because I listened to Wear You Out for 2 hours straight when I came to it; until my headphones ran out of battery. I probably thought the rest of the album was a 2 given how unmemorable it was but Wear You Out carried it to a middle 3
reminded me of The Downward Spiral at times but idk it wasnt that interesting
Listening to it was nice. I appreciated it because it was different but I disliked it because it was bad
Weirdo music for women I want to date The instrumentals for Pull out the pin and There goes a tenner remind me of indie metroidvania titles
I do not consider the sounds of microwaving popcorn and hammers beating on empty containers to be music
I could listen to this again but I don't think I want to. it's too inoffensive. I think I've just heard too much bodsa nova / samba already
Beyonce and Rihanna possess the same space in my mind, probably due to me hearing them at the same point in my life and thinking that their music was similar. However, every time I hear any of their songs I am starkly reminded that I like Rihanna's music more.
it was shoegaze at points and then i liked it and then it sounded like the british music that I hate at other points and then I disliked it
This was known since before but Paul is not the reason why the Beatles suck. Anyways, I misheard the lyrics to the end of Oo You and thought he said "Look like a woman, ooh Dress like a lady, ooh Talk like a baby, cunny, cunny, cunny, cunny, uuoohh Love you like a woman, ooh" and it shocked me greatly
Perhaps the slowest album on the list. Made me remember "69 Love Songs" and how painful of an experience that was
