I had never heard of this band or album before this project sent it as the first one of 1001.
Having listened to over half of it, I really like it.
Their harmonies remind me of the Moody Blues and Jefferson Airplane.
I bit of 60s psychedelic without the too much weirdness.
Added it to my Apple Music collection!
Classic Beatles when they were at the top of their hit making fab period.
Really enjoyed listening to this one again. Starting with the title song this one is a great LP all the way through.
Although there are a couple standouts on this LP (Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova) I just find most of it a difficult listen.
The lyrics as well as the vocals seem forced and without passion.
I struggled to like Oasis back in the 90s, and I don't feel the test of time as proven my original reaction to be any different.
This album is an early glam rock/pop effort. Had the pleasure of seeing them perform in 1972, where they played these tunes. Actually think this album catches some of that live energy while still sounding well produced. I enjoying hearing this one and feel it has with stood the test of time well.
Sad he wasn't around longer to hear his music evolve.
All the elements are there but not quite formed into a cohesive consistent whole. A good start but not near as great as Mezzanine.
Having never consciously explored her music, this was a real treat. A bit out of my world back in the day. I really enjoyed every song on this LP.
Heard of them, but never listen to this LP before. Deceptively simple rock. However, there is more here.
The easy thing would to say this is a precursor to AC/DC, and that is probably true but there is more. Slade has more emphasis on harmonies. I could hear elements that reminded me of The Beatles, and Queen.
Overall, much more entertaining than I would have suspected from the cover art.
One of my top ten albums and arguably the best Radiohead LP.
Maybe playing on a large system at a rave party this would be ideal. I can almost visualize the lights and dancing bodies. On its own years later it seem too simple and doesn’t even work for me as background music. Definitely would not have included this in a top 1001.
The excessive use of profanity makes this a poor choice for me. I don’t have a problem with the use of cursing in music. But this goes for shock value and fails. Almost unlistenable.
Remarkable album but flawed by the vocals which really can get annoying after a couple of songs. There are some stand outs here and I can see how it ended up on this list. Some heavy influence on future bands.
I did buy this one on vinyl back in its day. Had not heard it in many years. Entertaining still, yes. Yet, only a few songs actually stand out as classics.
Can’t say that I would listen to it very often.
This album is cool with a capital K. Great for listen before, during, and after almost any thing.
One of Zappa's best and it actually hold up really well.
Probably the only time I have enjoyed Captain Beefheart's vocals.
While I was not overly interested in his voice, the writer has a lot to say and listening to his words works for me.
It took me many years to warm up to his singing style. But I am onboard now and this is a gem of an album.
I was never country music fan. Yet Johnny Cash some how was and early crossover type. This album is an amazing record of a bad boy singing to a bunch of other bad boys. The prison crowd loves it and so does Johnny.
Probably one of the best live albums ever recorded.
Had never heard this one. It was out during a really busy time in my life: raising children, moving, new work. So, wish I had heard it before. Nice sound.
When this came out a friend of mine put it down, claiming the days of prog rock were over. I responded with a noncommittal response while secretly think these guys were brilliant. They have not only stood the test of time, but the first half stakes out their right to the top niche in their genre. good stuff.
They rock! But I just never really fell for Eddie’s vocals. Probably their best LP. Could live without them.
Tried and failed to enjoy this. This wouldn’t make on my 100,001 album list.
Has a few really popular songs, but I was never a fan of the country rock genre. Seems way over rated.
These guys almost make metal listenable. Almost! Barely made it through this one. So maybe one or two songs could make the list, not the
whole LP.
This has very little if any redeeming value!
Country music from this era is just plain depressing and boring!
A couple good songs here, but not an enjoyable listen.
Tried and failed to get into country rock. This goes down with the Eagles as over rated.
3 or 4? Always appreciated their inventiveness but never listened to them much.
Glad to see this one making the list. Very inventive and some beauty too!
This may have some historical value for rap music, but it almost unlistenable. Just annoying now.
is this really him at his best? Maybe it wasn’t the title he would have chosen. Great voice. Talented and influential.
Good for about 1 song. Too vulgar and annoyingly uninspired. .
One of their best. Before they got too weird from some.
This is a good album but has as few bits that don't hit as strong. With a few edits this could be a 5.
Tried it, didn't like it.
Groundbreaking and extraordinary. Still resonates today.
The best post Beatles album by McCartney. Still holds up as entertaining all these years later.
Always wanted to enjoy this album but it sounds so overproduced and dense. Prefer 'The River' as my favorite Springsteen album. Would love to hear a re-mixed version of this album where the instrumentation is not so buried. Still it is consider a classic and belongs on this list.
When this came out; wife, children, work, university. Left little time for this one to hit my radar. First listen makes, wonder how I would have reacted hearing then? I like it now.
Very relaxing and cool jazz. Certainly influential and excellent.
Really never could understand the massive appeal of The Band. This doesn't change that fact.
Sounds dated but still I can see why some people may still enjoy it.
Interesting voice but ultimately rather boring and hard to make it through the whole album.
Interesting and enjoyable!
Groundbreaking LP. Took a while but I have appreciation for this music and the influence it had on many artists.
This album is amazing. Eno and Bryne complement each other building from their work together on Talking Heads 'Remain in Light'.
MIght have like this back in the day. Listening to it for the first time it seems dated and and vocals are irritating.
Good enough to be on the list? Maybe for some. but not for me.
A couple of these songs carry some power. Mostly middle of the road pop.
Has some nostalgic power. Still it seemed like the high school memory for the masses.
A few albums have come across that I had never heard before that simply blow me away.
This is one. One of the Mingus was one of coolest cats that had considerable influence on the evolution of jazz.
Good voice and nice songs. It seems too boring, yet still provides entertainment.
Their best album? Eddie sounds great.
Far from today's country and a really ground breaking album. Great voice. Dated and boring production.
This album is great. Hadn't really listened to their early albums. Maybe not as great as Aja, but still belongs on this list.
Although it is highly rated, I still don't hear any compelling vocals here. Influential and talented lady. But not something I would want to listen often.
Rave party, yes! Casual listening, NO!
Strange and a bit annoying voice. Lyrics are interesting.
My least favorite of the CSNY team. His singing style does get annoying. However this first LP is pretty darn good. Definitely dated, and not something I would listen to often.
Not as good as some of their albums. Disintegration and Faith are more interesting.
Quite listenable if not memorable.
Really? So annoying to hear, vulgar language and misogynistic. Would give it -1 if I could.
One of if not his most popular LIstenable and likable!
