This album is almost at the very bottom of my ranking, but I guess I can appreciate that it has a concept and isn’t as boring as some of my other 1-star albums. The rapping on this album is extremely grating, though, which is the biggest problem since there’s not much else going on. The instrumental parts are just generic. I don’t understand why this is here at all.

I don’t have that much to say about this. It’s not my style but I can sort of understand why it’s so classic. I’ve listened to all the Pink Floyd albums (I guess Piper at the Gates of Dawn was my favorite, still gave it a 3) and I just don’t really connect with them.
I always feel like I have to say something about my 5* albums, so I’ll try for this one. This is my second listen (as it is for all of the 5* albums, except Village Green Preservation Society retroactively) but before I listened to it, I was already drawn to this album by the album cover, which looks about exactly like how the music sounds. My favorite songs on it are “The Killing Moon” and “The Yo-Yo Man” but all of the songs have potential to keep growing on me in the future.
3rd time listening. This was already my 2nd favorite album, but I don’t have a lot to say about it. Almost every song works for me. The only songs I don’t care for are “Hair” and “Joe”. This is my favorite PJ Harvey album, and she’s my favorite musical artist. Favorite song: “Plants and Rags”.
Re-listen. I think this album is really interesting, although “Breadcrumb Trail” and “Good Morning, Captain” are the only songs I really listen to outside of it.

Preferred Ziggy Stardust. Favorite song: “Time”.
It’s fine. Probably prefer Velvet Underground and Nico, but not by a lot. Favorite song: “After Hours”. “Murder Mystery” was pretty strange in comparison to the rest. Don’t like how mellow their music sounds most of the time.
3/5? Liked the instrumentals (I guess that would be the production, not sure) but the lyrics brought it down. Also, don’t understand the purpose of skits. Liked it more than I thought I would.
Before listening: Not looking forward to this. Someone compared it to Bryan Adams, which seems like a bad sign. After listening: It was worse than I thought it would be. Every song sounded the same. No idea why this is on the list.
Like the Velvet Underground album, too mellow for me. I like “Fast Car”, but the songs sound a little too similar.
This is my third time listening to this album. The 3 Björk albums on this list are my favorites. I’m surprised that the list skipped over Post and Homogenic. Strangely, I don’t have much to say about it. Favorite song: “Human Behaviour”.
Like my album yesterday, this is my third time listening to this one. I feel conflicted about my rating on this album. I’m still at the beginning of the list, so I’m still figuring out my rating system. As much as I think that this album is great and obviously deserves to be on this list, I just don’t like much of the songs on it. My ratings so far have all been personal to me, so I’m just going to give it a 3.
It’s alright. Didn’t have strong feelings about this one. On the low end of a 3, probably.
It was alright. Already knew What’s Love Got To Do With It and Private Dancer, of course. (And the original I Can’t Stand The Rain.) Don’t really like this style of music that much. It’s a bit generic.
Just don’t like blues all that much. Or live albums.
Alright. Never heard of this band before. The first song was probably the best.
I was curious about this initially, since I generally like this sort of music and have heard of this band before. It started off alright, but as it continued the songs just kept sounding the same. I’ve never heard of this album before and don’t understand why it’s on the list.
Still figuring out my rating system, so I guess this is a low 4 for me. I’d already heard Love Is A Stranger and the title track before, and as expected they were my favorites. This Is The House was pretty bad, though.
I just don’t get jazz.
It was good. Don’t have strong opinions on it.
Pretty much what I was expecting.
Still conflicted on my rating system. The second half was definitely better than the first. Also, finally an album that uses skits without being annoying. Still, not really my taste.
I’ve heard some Ian Dury before, but wasn’t expecting to dislike the album this much. The appeal of this is inexplicable to me. Its weirdness just seems random instead of interesting.
I already like Le Freak and I Want Your Love. The rest is not too interesting. The songs are a bit repetitive, especially At Last I Am Free which goes on for more than 7 minutes.
A little underwhelming. It’s OK. The songs become pretty monotonous by the end, though.
I was surprised how much I liked this one, given how late into his career it was. The songs started to sound a little samey towards the end, but otherwise it was good.
Second listen. 👍: You Oughta Know, Not The Doctor, Forgiven, Right Through You, Head Over Feet Eh: Perfect, Mary Jane, Ironic, Wake Up 👎: All I Really Want, Hand In My Pocket, You Learn This one was more of a mixed bag than I remembered. I like a couple of the songs. You Oughta Know was my favorite, which was not a surprise. I was surprised by how much I liked Head Over Feet this time. My biggest problem with it is Alanis’s voice, which I still dislike. My true score for it is probably a 3.5, but I’ll give it a 4 since at least the bad parts stand out.
This was alright. I can understand why people like it. Rock and roll is not my genre, so it didn’t really elicit a strong reaction.
Alright. I like the orchestra parts. It’s a little melodramatic at times, though.
This was my third listen of this album. I’ve heard all of Björk’s solo albums (besides the jazz one, Selmasongs, and the one she did as a child) and I think this is my favorite, although it wasn’t initially and it might change in the future. Despite that, I’m surprised that this (+ Debut and Vulnicura) is even on this list when Post and Homogenic aren’t. I don’t know if I have much to say about the album itself because I don’t have anything insightful to say about it. It’s just good. Favorite songs: “Oceania”, “Pleasure Is All Mine”, “Mouths Cradle”. (Also, by the way: would like to change my ratings for Debut to a 5, Abbey Road to a 4, and Tracy Chapman’s self-titled album to a 3 because my rating system has already changed.)
Sometimes I get the chorus of “Pablo Picasso” in my head and can’t get it out. I just have to wait until it goes away. The album was fine, lots of speak-singing. Don’t know what’s so special about it.
Second listen. I liked this a lot more this time. It was pretty good. Not much to say about it, though. High 3. (Is that how you say that?)
I couldn’t get myself to finish this one, having gotten distracted, losing my progress, and not wanting to restart it. Never heard of the artist or the album. It’s not bad in an obvious way or even all that boring, it’s just too long.
I liked it. Nice to hear Fiona Apple’s voice for a few seconds. Not much to say about this, strangely. I already like “Personal Jesus” so that was probably my favorite.
It was alright. Favorite song: “1921”.
I liked it. Liked “Wicked Annabella”, which I had already heard, as well as “Village Green”. I feel like I might regret this rating later like I always do, but I’m going to give it a 3 because nothing really surprised me. Maybe once I come back to it I’ll like it more.
I don’t know why this generator has given me 3 British concept albums from the ‘60s in a row (Tommy, Village Green Preservation Society, and now this). This is definitely my least favorite of the three, enough for me to give it a 2. It’s not that I disliked it, but I have no idea why it’s here or what the appeal is. Also, it’s kind of long. Shorter than Tommy, but still long. In retrospect, maybe
It’s fine. It just didn’t really elicit any strong feelings. Don’t know what’s special about it exactly.
Second listen. I like ABBA a lot, but this is not my favorite album of theirs. If their self-titled album is on here I might give it a 5, but this is just a 4. A lot of the songs are really cheesy for some reason. Also, ABBA songs get worn out for me very easily, which is probably a factor. The 4 is mostly for my two favorites on this one, “Money, Money, Money” and “Fernando”. (I’ve gotten a little tired of those two as well.)
I’m not really a country person. I think the appeal of these songs are in the lyrics, and I’m not a lyrics person either, so not much here for me.
I was surprised how much I liked this one. I think it might be jazz? Never heard of it before. I feel like I had more to say, but I can’t remember what.
I really like this one. Probably my favorite of the albums that are new to me from this project. I did know of it and already really liked “Green Light”. I’m going to give it a 4 even if it leans towards a 5, though. That’s mostly because of “Liability”, which I really didn’t like (and for some reason is on here twice?). I think I might like this more on a second listen, though.
Heard of his name before, but don’t really know anything about him. This was very meh in my opinion. Not really my genre, though, so not sure. I have not been liking the 80s albums. Some of the reviews mention disco and dance music, and I did not hear that at all. If I had, maybe I would have liked it more.
Third listen. I feel strange only giving this a 3. I do love “A Day In The Life”, but the other songs still don’t really stand out to me. I don’t know why, just personal taste. Don’t have much specific to say about this.
I don’t know if I have anything to say about this. It was pretty unremarkable and kind of long (at least it felt that way). None of the songs really stood out to me.
Another very classic album that I don’t really get. This is more a genre that I don’t like much (soul) than some of the others that I have rated, however. There’s just not really anything there that I feel strongly about.
I feel like I should like the B-52’s because I like new wave and surf rock, but the constant speak-singing is just kind of off-putting to me. I like “Rock Lobster”, which I’ve already heard a couple of times.
I have way more to say about this than I thought I would. I had pretty low expectations and was even hesitant to listen to it, because listening to rap metal is kind of an awkward experience. Ultimately, I was very frustrated by this, because I really liked the riffs and would have liked it so much more if there weren’t 3 major weaknesses. Because I am definitely a sound-over-lyrics listener, the biggest problem was the rapping, which just sounds very awkward over this music and too shouty. The second problem was how repetitive the songs were. There are a couple of songs where most of it is just the same lyric over and over again. Within the album, a lot of the songs sound very similar, although this might be because I’m really unfamiliar with the genre. Also, like a lot of reviewers mentioned, the lyrics are a little silly at times, like “Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission/Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite/All of which are American dreams (repeated 8 times)”. So I had mixed feelings about this, overall. Favorite song: “Bullet In The Head”.
I liked this more than I thought I would, given that it is an old live album. I really don’t know much about Sam Cooke, but I liked the songs. Not much else to say about it.
I’m expecting this to be extremely inaccessible. I do like 2 Sonic Youth songs (“Bull In The Heather” and “Sunday”, also their cover of “Superstar” if that counts), but neither are on this album and most of their songs just sound like droning to me. This is a low 3 for me. It was fine. Not much to say about it. Pretty typical Sonic Youth. I don’t really have any strong complaints, it’s just not for me. Favorite song: “Tunic (Song For Karen)”.
I have so little to say about this one. I just don’t like country music. Not for any specific reason, it just doesn’t click. It’s the same with this album. I would give it a 1 because there weren’t any positive qualities for me, but there were also no negative qualities of it. It’s just not really for me.
It was fine. I really don’t have anything to say about this.
I just don’t think The Cars are very interesting. It was okay.
Don’t have much to say about this. It was fine. I guess it was a little too mellow for me. Favorite song: “At The Chime Of A City Clock”.
This is very bad timing for me. I’m currently going through the Pink Floyd discography and have already heard this, but not recently enough that I remember it very well, so I’m going to re-listen to it. I don’t have a lot to say about this. It’s very whimsical compared to their other albums. I liked it. Favorite song: “Bike” (also “Flaming”).
This is my second listen. I don’t have much to say about this. I like electronic rock, so I like this. Thom Yorke’s mewling voice is really distracting though, and the mood of the album never really changes.
Second listen. I like new wave and a few Talking Heads songs, but for some reason this album has never really left an impression.
I like “Folsom Prison Blues”, which I already knew. Just not really a country person. Don’t really have anything else to say about this.
Not very interesting.
It was alright, but a little silly. I think it’s the worst Queen album on this list. Favorite song: “Killer Queen”.
I didn’t pay much attention to this. I didn’t really understand why people like it.
Second listen. Don’t have much to say about this. It’s good.
I like the violins. I always like Frank Zappa songs when they’re playing, but I’m never interested enough to listen to them after the first time. Maybe it’s too instrumental for me.
This was fine. I was surprised when I hurt “They Won’t Go When I Go” since I was just listening to the song earlier today. Favorite song: “Freedom! ‘90”.
I liked it, although I’m not sure how good it actually was. Favorite song: “Goldfinger”.
I really didn’t expect how much I liked this. I’ve already heard most of these songs way too many times, but I really liked the production (although I didn’t really have strong feelings about Let It Be).
This is another one of the many albums I’ve given a 2 because I didn’t get the genre in general.
I was surprised how much I liked the first song. Like other reviewers said, more alternative rock than expected. It was alright.
This is the second Sonic Youth album that I’ve gotten. This is less commercial than Goo, and it just sounds too miserable to listen to.
I really liked the first side, but the second side was too wacky for me, especially the narration. Favorite song: Afterglow of Your Love.
I liked the album as a whole, but not really any of the songs specifically.
I already knew and liked “Clap Hands”. I thought this was a little too repetitive and the growling got annoying by the end, but I still like the style.
It was alright. It got better later on, but I was really irritated at the beginning.
It was fine.
I really don’t have much to say about this. It was alright, but nothing really caught my attention about it.
This is my favorite album that I haven’t heard before on this generator. I think I’m not going to give a 5 to any albums that I haven’t heard before, but this might become a 5 in the future. I don’t have much to say about the music, but I liked almost all of the songs.
This and yesterday’s album (Country Life) seems like the generator is blessing me, but inadvertently irritates me in the process. These two albums are definitely my favorite albums I’ve gotten so far, but I really am not sure how I feel about them yet. I’m giving both of them 4s because I just can’t be sure that they’re 5s yet. Unlike yesterday’s album, I already knew and liked a song from this (“Stupidity Tries”), and was not at all surprised by how much I liked it. I prefer the other one, but I still really enjoyed it.
I liked some of the parts on here, which made me think that maybe I should give it a 2, but the lyrics are just so bad.
It was alright. It was pretty much what I expected. I feel like hardcore punk always sounds pleasant enough, but not enough for me to really enjoy it. Although this wasn’t actually that hard.
I know I’ve heard the title track before, but I really liked it this time around. This is one of the highest 3s, and I wasn’t sure if I should give it a 4, but there are a couple of slow moments that I didn’t like. Didn’t really get the Hallelujah cover.
Most of the songs on this album have parts that I like, which is surprising considering how many songs are on here. The problem is that the songs I like the most (especially “As” and “Another Star”) go on for way too long for me. Favorite song: “As”.
I don’t remember anything about this album a day after I listened to it. I don’t think I remembered anything about it the moment it finished. I guess I’m giving it a 2.
I don’t have much of a reaction to this. I have learned that I really don’t like harmonicas.
This is my least favorite album I’ve heard on here so far. Most songs go on for too long and his voice is irritating.
After I complained about getting two albums that I really liked but couldn’t decide on the rating for, the generator has decided to curse me with an onslaught of albums from around the same time that I dislike. Yesterday was Rod Stewart, which was my least favorite album I’ve heard on this generator, and today is better but not by a lot. This kind of music just really bores me, and Neil Young’s voice keeps careening off course of the melody. Please give me something better, generator.
The only thing that I noticed about this album was the West Side Story song. Why is it there? I really don’t care for hard rock. All of these albums just go through one ear and out the other.
I still don’t like jazz and didn’t really have any strong feelings about this. I like the cover though.
The generator refuses to let me out of the 1970s. 6 out of the 7 albums from the past week have been from this decade. Please, move to a different decade. This album was fine. Favorite song: “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)”.
I was excited for this because I like electronic rock and the last week has been filled with 1970s albums. This was pretty boring.
It was alright, but I don’t really like it when albums try to be comedic, since I feel like they usually fail.
I didn’t really enjoy this album. Not sure why this generator has had me listen to the title track on different albums almost within a week of each other. I think I just don’t like folk very much.
This is kind of a low 4. Not sure if I will change my mind on this later. It was nice. I also really don’t like double albums, so I might be more inclined to give it a higher rating because it wasn’t that tedious.
I don’t know, don’t really like blues.
2nd listen. I’ve listened to all the main Rolling Stones albums and found out that I really don’t like them.
This feels like the most mediocre album on the list so far. I’m giving it a 3 mostly because my rating system has changed again and also because all of the other punk albums have gotten pretty bad ratings. I don’t dislike punk, it just keeps happening for some reason.
I hope I don’t regret this rating later. I like The Kinks and it’s possible that I’ll like this more on re-listen. I already heard The Kinks Are The Village Preservation Society on this generator and I should have given it a 4. I liked this alright. Favorite song: “Sunny Afternoon”
I liked it. Not really for any specific reason. I’ve been having a lot of good luck with the 2000s albums on this list.
It was fine. Don’t have anything to say about it.
I don’t like Bob Dylan much. Didn’t have much of a reaction to this.
It was alright.
There’s a lot of whiplash when you read the reviews of this album on this website. It’s fine. I don’t think I really, really like any 80s hair metal songs, but I also don’t really mind them when they’re on. So this is just a 3 for me.
I don’t know why this was so boring. It seems like it should be more interesting.
It was fun. I wonder how this compares to his other albums?
I know this album is revolutionary and it’s obviously not my style, but the backing vocals were just really cheesy.
I don’t really like Aerosmith.
I’m really not familiar with Springsteen. His style has always been very unique, but just not interesting enough for me. This was OK.
I was already pretty sure this would be a 4, and I was right. I already liked “Celebrity Skin” and “Northern Star” (especially the latter) and the rest was also good, although none of it really exceeded those two songs.
This one is kind of hard to rate because it’s just an EP. “Touch Me I’m Sick” isn’t even really on this.
For some reason, the 2 Bob Dylan songs I like are at the very end of this album. Other than those 2, this was pretty boring and way too long.
Not a fan of this kind of music. Also, what’s going on with “Ice Cream Man”?
This one is sort of hard to rate. I feel like I’d probably really like it after re-listening, but I just haven’t yet. Favorite song: “Angry Chair”.
It has “Groove Is In The Heart”, but outside of that I really don’t know why this is on the list.
I’ve been trying to avoid giving jazz albums 1s because I don’t like giving genres I just don’t get low scores, but I really did not like this.
I was kind of close to giving this a 4, but it’s not quite there. Too much flute. I was still surprised by how much I liked it though.
It was nice. I feel like if I re-listen to it I’ll like it more, but this time nothing really stuck out to me.
I really don’t like ambient music, so this was pleasantly surprising.
Heard it before, like it a lot more now. Favorite song: “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”.
3rd time listening.
I understand why this album is so beloved, but none of the songs clicked with me. It was really strange to listen to for that reason. I don’t have much else to say about it.
I don’t really like live albums, and this was too long for me. I don’t feel like giving it a 2, though, because I appreciate it in some way that I can’t really describe.
This is a band that I should like based off of my taste, but I’ve just never clicked with any of their songs. I know “Maps” is considered a classic, but it’s just alright to me.
Like with most rap albums, it’s really only a matter if whether I like the songs (or just a song) or not. I like “My Name Is”, but not a lot, so it’s a 3. I can appreciate the production and rapping skill but none of it really appeals to me. I could say similar things about most albums on this list, though.
I liked this more than the self-titled album, even though I prefer “I Wanna Be Your Dog” to “Search and Destroy”. (I think.) I’m not really sure why.
This was much better than the other Neil Young album I’ve had (Tonight’s The Night), the last two songs especially. Still don’t love it though.
This album doesn’t feel like it exists. It’s alright.
Favorite song: “Hazy Shade of Winter”. Otherwise, this album is fine but I don’t really have anything to say about it.
This is my last Johnny Cash album. It’s fine. I don’t really know how to differentiate this one from At Folsom Prison in my mind. This one also has Folsom Prison Blues on it. I liked American IV the most.
It’s weird that I got Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel (containing “Mrs. Robinson”) just 2 days before this. As far as the album goes, it’s just not interesting.
It was nice, but too long.
This was really boring. I don’t remember anything about it.
This was alright. Yet another country album.
I forgot everything that happened in this album.
This was a lot better than I was expecting. I liked the first song and “Believe Me Natalie”. Don’t really like the vocals though.
This was weird, because I was just listening to the previous album from the generator and at the end, I decided to listen to “Air” and “Burning Down The House”. I wrote the review for the other album and then generated the new one. As for this album, it was alright. It’s my second Talking Heads album (after Remain In Light) and I did not really get it. I’m not sure what the issue is.
I like electronica and it’s one of the highest rated genres for me on this generator, but I couldn’t finish this album. I also really like “Halcyon and On and On”, their most famous song, so I probably just like the commercial stuff, but this was just too long and boring for me. I don’t understand the appeal of this at all.
Scott Walker is recommended to me a lot by Spotify. He’s OK but there’s not a song of his that I really like. I was hoping for that to change with this album, but it didn’t. It’s more of what I expected from him. It’s fine, but I don’t really have anything to say about it.
I’m not giving it a 1 because there’s nothing specifically wrong with it, but I don’t remember anything about this album. I just didn’t notice anything about this album.
Favorite songs: “Pump It Up”, “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea”. I got distracted from this one a few times. The songs I liked the most were the ones I already knew. It was alright, but I don’t have much to say about it.
Favorite song: “Shameika”. I really like Fiona Apple, but I’m not a fan of this album. The sparse-ness is a little too much for me.
Favorite song: “Man On The Moon”. I was a little disappointed by this one. It got a bit boring.
It was pretty boring. I just don’t like metal very much. I should probably go more into it, but that’s mostly what it boils down to.
I had listened to Once Twice Melody from 2022 already and liked it a bit more, which surprised me. There’s nothing wrong with this album, but none of the songs really clicked with me.
Second listen. I can’t believe that the first day I missed an album, I got this one! This might be my favorite Pixies album (or Bossanova). Not sure what to say about it; most of the songs are just really good. Favorite song: “I Bleed”.
The voice sounded fine at first, but it got increasingly more annoying over the course of the album. I don’t understand how this album is classified as nu-metal, since it just sounds like alt-rock to me. It was alright.
This was alright. I like the organ + the song “Take It As It Comes”.
Favorite song: “Friend of the Devil”. This album was just too mellow for me, but it was alright.
Favorite song: “Turn It On”.
This seems like something that I might like more on a re-listen.
Here’s another 5 for me. Each song has bits and pieces that I like, which is pretty rare for me. I also love Debbie Harry’s voice. Favorite songs: “Heart of Glass”, “Fade Away and Radiate”, “Sunday Girl”.
This album is kind of frustrating to listen to. I really like the choruses of most of the songs, but it’s all really dated.
Favorite songs: “Alone Again Or”, “The Red Telephone”
Favorite song: “Otherside”. Overall, it was better than I expected, even though the occasional rapping really didn’t work.
3rd listen. Favorite song: “Sweet Virginia”. I just don’t like this album and I don’t like The Rolling Stones.
I think I would like this more on a relisten.
2nd listen. I just don’t really like Jimi Hendrix’s music. It sounds kind of droning and there are a lot of instrumentals.
2nd listen. I think this is one of the more forgettable Led Zeppelin albums.
2nd listen. I like the sound of this album but was never drawn to any song In particular.
This seems like something I would like more on a re-listen.
It’s been a while since I rated an album 4 stars. I already knew and liked the first 2 songs, and although none of the other songs were really that good, I like Sparks in general and I think the album will grow on me in the future.
Favorite song: “Tales of Brave Ulysses”.
2nd listen. Led Zeppelin is fine, but I don’t have much to say about them.
This didn’t leave much of an impact on me.
Second listen. I’ve been getting a lot of Led Zeppelin recently. This is my favorite album of theirs.
Second listen. I think this might be my last Rolling Stones album? I ranked it the highest of them but it still gets a 2.
Two rap albums in a row!
Best song: “My My Metrocard”.
The lyrics seemed like they were trying a little too hard.
I was expecting more, but I forgot about the album almost immediately after it ended.
Second listen. Favorite song: “Two For The Price Of One”.
It sounded nice, but did not need to be 2 hours long.
Surprisingly, this was my least favorite of the Sonic Youth albums that I’ve listened to so far (the others were Goo and Sister). I guess I didn’t dislike it, but it didn’t leave an impression at all.
This one is right on the threshold between a 3 and a 2. It was fine, but I just forgot about it very quickly.
3rd listen. I feel like I should say something about this album since it’s so important, but there’s not much I can say. I definitely have liked it more on repeated listens, though the repetition still bothers me.
This might be a 5 at some point. I know I should say something (and it’s nice that I got two 4s in a row— it might be the first time) but I don’t have many comments about it. I like this one more than Blonde, which is surprisingly not on the 1001 List.
2nd listen. I like it more than I did before. It’s definitely on the higher end of 3 stars, but because I’m not really into any one song on it, it doesn’t get to 4 for me.
2nd listen. My favorite Pixies albums are Doolittle and Bossanova, but I like this one too. Not sure what my favorite song is from it. This is a short review for 5 stars, but there’s not much to say about it.
2nd listen. This album has definitely grown on me. Still just 3 stars though.
I was really expecting more from this album, but I kept getting distracted and it was really hard to finish. I made it eventually, but it really didn’t feel worth it. It’s still not a 1 star album because there were some moments I liked, but from an artist that I hear about a lot, I was pretty disappointed.
This was better than I expected. There was a lot of pounding on the piano.
Second listen. I’m sure this album will grow on me, but it’s just not really one of my favorites from David Bowie right now.
This was a bit boring. And I don’t know why they put a The Verve album on the list that isn’t Urban Hymns. They don’t really seem relevant enough for that.
I’m not sure about this one’s rating, but it really didn’t give me an impression. Maybe if I re-listened it would be 3 stars.
I was really uncertain about giving this a 4 because it’s very close to 3 stars, but I did anyways. This is my first listen, although I already knew some songs, and I had high expectations. I didn’t really find any new songs that I liked, but I would probably like it more if I re-listened and I already liked 2 songs.
Another 4 that is very close to a 3. The only song that I really like is “Shangri-La”, which I do really like, but usually 4s have more songs I like. This is also sort of because I gave Village Green 3 stars and now I would probably give it 5. I think this might be my last Kinks album on this list as well.
It just sounds like a metal album to me.
I think I was expecting more but there aren’t that many songs on this one. I’m glad I finally got to it though.
I liked this more than I thought I would, since I had been recommended The Jam before and didn’t really get it. Favorite song: “English Rose”.
I really like “Firestarter” but the rapping on the song has always been sort of a negative for me. The same goes for the full album— it’s just kind of hard to ignore and it sounds very goofy. Also I like the original “Fuel My Fire” and it was a little frustrating to listen to it in this form.
It’s a jazz album, sorry to jazz but I didn’t get anything out of this.
This was kind of strange for The Temptations, but it didn’t really leave much of an impression at the same time.
How is Jah Wobble on this list?
I was surprised by how much I liked this one. Definitely have to re-listen sometime.
2nd listen. I was surprised about how much I liked this album the first time I listened to it, but somehow now, listening to it for the second time, I’m still surprised. I think this is the first 5 star album for me on here that hasn’t been from a band that I am really a fan of (although I should probably listen to them more).
I feel like I should say something for 4 stars but I don’t have much to say. It’s too bad it’s not on Spotify.
Second listen (actually listened to this for the first time very recently), although I really don’t have anything to say about it.
I don’t know why there needs to be 2 Prodigy albums on this list.
I liked this more than I thought I would.
I’m really confused by this
Re-listen— listened to this one pretty recently so I’m a little annoyed that this is coming up now.
I was a little disappointed by this one. I already knew and liked “Happiness”, but that turned out to be it. It was still alright though. I wonder if Felt Mountain is on this list— maybe I’ll like that one more.
I don’t really know what was going on. This was just really unpleasant to listen to.
It was alright, but there was just a lot of screaming and cheering by the end that was just not interesting to listen to.
This is the third album in a row that I’ve gotten with the word “music” in the title.
I just don’t like jazz
Second listen. This one was so close to a 5, but ultimately I don’t think I liked enough songs. It will probably get there sometime, though.
I was just thinking about this before, so this was interesting to see. Second listen. This album just has so many songs that I like. It’s too bad they don’t have more albums (I haven’t heard The Menace yet). Favorite song: “S.O.F.T.”
I was really surprised by how much I liked this album, since I don’t like metal. I’m sure I will re-listen to this some time.
I really liked this one, maybe more than any other country album so far. I was actually pretty close to giving it a 4, but I didn’t like one song enough for it.
I liked this more than Achtung Baby (the only other U2 album I’ve listened to). It wasn’t that bad.
I liked this much more than I thought I would. It’s more rock than usual for Morrissey.
I liked this more than the previous White Stripes album I got.
There are too many Aerosmith albums (but this was the best one so far).
This was really boring.
This was more jazzy than I expected.
This is a really surprising entry for this list.
I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. The orchestra was probably why.
Second listen.
I would like to give this a 4 because I really like Björk, I gave Debut a 3 when I should have given it a 4, and this is my favorite album of her later career (the albums after Medúlla), but it’s just not quite there for me. My favorite song is “Notget”, but I have gotten a bit tired of that song.
OK, this is the new bottom of the ranking of all of these albums so far, out of 364. (I also figured out just now that my ranking is missing some albums, which means I have to sort it out again, which adds to the list of grievances I have against this album.) It was already apparent that this would be a new low by the title of this album (also, why does the band name use an ampersand when the album doesn’t?), and it pretty much proved my assumption correctly. It was a lot more boring than I imagined it being, but whenever I started paying attention again I wished that I hadn’t. What was the reasoning behind putting this on the list?
2nd listen. Favorite song: “Jig of Life”. I don’t really love any of the songs on this album, but I still like it overall. I don’t know what else to say about this album, it’s just good.
I preferred Tres Hombres over this one. Also, what was going on with the TV Dinner song?
I feel like I should like this album more than I do. This might just be a punk thing (especially early punk) because I feel like that happens a lot with this genre.
This was just really boring.
I was not interested in the sound of this album. It was way too bland for me. I bumped it up to 3 stars because I liked “The Man Who Told Everything”.
I’ve listened to this album before, and I just don’t get Bob Marley.
I have never been able to get The Sugarcubes, which is disappointing given my enjoyment of Björk. This is right on the threshold between 2 and 3 for me, so I had a bit of trouble trying to rate this.
Re-listen. I think this album is really interesting, although “Breadcrumb Trail” and “Good Morning, Captain” are the only songs I really listen to outside of it.
I guess this was an ambient album? I generally don’t like ambient music. It wasn’t bad, but I just didn’t get it
I don’t like this genre (quiet storm?) and Sade in general.
This was kind of like Lost Souls by Doves, which was only about a week ago for me: mostly pretty boring, but I liked one song (Staring at the Sun, with this one).
I really didn’t like the style of this. Edit: Oh, it’s Rod Stewart. That’s why I don’t like it.
This has a lot of random moments that I liked. I should probably re-listen to this.
I would really like to get Highway 61 Revisited soon, I feel bad about giving all these 2 star reviews to Bob Dylan because I don’t dislike his music for the most part.
“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” is my favorite Led Zeppelin song. That’s all I have to say about this album.
Re-listen. I guess I am a Blur fan, even though I don’t actually love that many of their albums (only Blur and 13). I like the 3 Britpop albums (I don’t know if the others are still Britpop) and this is the first one. I just don’t love the style, but I still really enjoy this album. I’m actually not really sure if I should give this a 4 or not, but I’ve decided on a 3 for now.
Re-listen. I definitely prefer this one over Moondance.
Re-listen. This is definitely the best Queen album. I know that seems like kind of an insult because I’m still giving it a 3, but it’s pretty close to a 4 and I give a 3 or a 2 to most albums.
Re-listen. I do sort of get why this album is so beloved, but the style is not really for me. I still liked it though, and more than the first time I listened to it.
Re-listen. This is one of the 3s that is sort of close to a 4, but I just don’t love any of the songs (even Take Me Out). Most of the songs are enjoyable though, which is pretty rare for me.
This was extremely boring.
I really liked a couple of songs from this, so I’m going to make it a 4, although I’m not entirely sure abut it.
2nd listen. I just generally don’t like Prince’s style, but I think this is one of his best albums.
2nd listen, I like parts of this album but I don’t love it.
I think this is my 3rd listen? I like this album more upon re-listens, but it still isn’t really for me.
This is pretty close to a 2 for me because I really don’t care for this style. I’m not giving it that because it caught my interest a few times and I know this is more message-heavy and not super focused on the music or hooks or anything like that (not that there’s nothing musical in it).
Second listen. My favorite 2 songs from the album are “Fell on Black Days” and “Black Hole Sun”, and I wish Soundgarden had more songs that sounded like those 2, but I know that’s not their main style. I still really like Soundgarden though, and all of the songs worked for me even though I’m not usually into music that sounds like theirs.
This was a bit disappointing. The first time I heard the Afghan Whigs was a snippet of a song I don’t remember the name of, and it made me interested in their music, although I never really checked them out. This album just kind of felt like background alt-rock music. I’d still give it a 3, and I feel like a lot of the albums I’m listening to recently have felt like they’re seeping into the background, so it might just be my attention.
Second listen. I don’t really get this, even though I feel like I should.
Why is Tammy Wynette on this album (and what is that last song in general?). This is a low 3 because it’s just OK, although I’m starting to feel like there’s way too much late ‘80s and ‘90s rap that has aged strangely (although this album isn’t primarily rap).
It’s a bit strange to me that the reviews say this album sounds like a ripoff of Nirvana and Pixies without acknowledging that Hüsker Du (led by Bob Mould, who created Sugar) is older than both bands. With that out of the way, I don’t think this should be on the list. I get that this is apparently Bob Mould’s biggest commercial success, but Last Splash by the Breeders (Kim Deal from the Pixies’ biggest success) isn’t on this list and is way better than this. It’s just not important or good enough to warrant a mention here. It’s a 3 because it was fine, although I’m getting tired of the constant alt-rock on this list, even though I listen to alt-rock all the time.
This was a bit annoying at times, but there were parts I enjoyed and I’m not a big fan of this style of rock, so I’ll give it a 3.
This is my 3rd Beastie Boys album, and although I know that this album is a bit different from the others (Licensed to Ill & Paul’s Boutique), I just have trouble telling their albums apart. I’ll probably have to re-listen to them sometime.
I got Copper Blue by Sugar from this generator a few days ago, and though that album and this one are both alternative-rock albums that I don’t think are important or impactful enough to be on this list, I rated this album a 2 because this really left no impression on me.
It’s OK, I just don’t really like this style of rock. It just feels a bit standard to me. Maybe some time it will click with me.
I immediately realized that I should have rated my last album (Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs) as a 2 because I didn’t like it that much. Anyways, this album was pretty good. I like new wave so that’s mostly why. I agree with the other reviews that it gets repetitive, and I don’t really like albums that are mostly instrumental. “Cars”, which I already knew, was the only song that really stuck with me (probably because I knew it already).
OK, I’m not sure about this but I really don’t remember anything about this after listening. With albums like this I always wonder if a re-listen or two would completely change my opinion, but I already have a lot of albums to catch up on. This at least isn’t the really dated 1980s rap that has popped up strangely frequently on the list.
(I changed my mind about the rating of this album while writing this.) This is only a 2 and not a 1 because I didn’t really think about it after finishing. I usually have a specific reason if I give an album a 1, and if I did give this a 1 it would be because of the extremely annoying vocals. I was vaguely aware of Kings of Leon before listening to this and was extremely annoyed about a song into the album by the vocals. This doesn’t even have any of their most famous songs. Why is this album here? OK, I think I convinced myself into giving this a 1.
I gave their other album on the list, Snivilisation, a 1, but this is an upgrade with a 3. Like I said in my review for Snivilisation, I like Halcyon and On and On, which is on this album, so that’s the biggest factor. I didn’t like the songs that were mostly just spoken word (like the first and last songs) but overall it was alright.
This was OK. There was more screaming than I expected. I just feel like so many rock albums that sound similar on the list is what is making those rock albums so monotonous-sounding.
It’s OK. I was expecting a bit more from a member of Pulp I guess. It sort of felt like the British version of country music.
I knew before listening that this is one of the most unpopular albums on this list, so I was pretty worried because I had already given another 1 pretty recently and I don’t want to give too many 1s out. It was OK at the beginning, but as the album went on it became absolutely interminable and incredibly boring. It just feels like there’s nothing to attach to here. I put “Son of Sam” by Elliott Smith (a song from another album on this list) on the Spotify queue so I could avoid listening to the deluxe songs and when I got to that point, I felt pure relief after having to listen to all of this. I understand why this has a reputation now.
First, I was kind of surprised that this album was on this list. I knew it was critically acclaimed, but it didn’t really seem like something that was major enough to feature on this list. However, this list makes a lot of weird choices and I guess it’s hard to pick the more recent albums. As for the album itself, it’s OK but R&B isn’t a genre I have a lot of interest in. For this album, it felt like a lot of it was relying on the vocals with limited instrumentals, whereas I usually prefer more instrumentals. I also don’t pay too much attention to lyrics and this is a concept album, so that didn’t really help. I feel like the cover reflects the kind of clinical sound that the album left me with. I know this is pretty critical for 3 stars, but 3 stars is a huge range for me when it comes to this list/generator.
I don’t have that much to say about this. It’s not my style but I can sort of understand why it’s so classic. I’ve listened to all the Pink Floyd albums (I guess Piper at the Gates of Dawn was my favorite, still gave it a 3) and I just don’t really connect with them.
I’ve had 2 albums in a row mentioning eclipses after the eclipse on Monday… interesting I guess? This is my 2nd listen of this album. This was one of the albums where I couldn’t decide between a 4 or a 5 before, but I’m pretty sure about a 4 now. It just really slows down at a certain point (after Earn Enough For Us) and doesn’t really pick up after that in my opinion. I still really enjoy the album and somehow didn’t really notice the obvious transitions before? They sound great and I don’t know how I missed that. I’ve listened to Black Sea and Drums & Wires and I don’t like them as much as this. Favorite song: 1000 Umbrellas. (Also, I was absolutely taken aback by the reviews saying that this is worse Tears For Fears, since I really like XTC but have always been the only person I know who dislikes Tears For Fears.)
I can understand why this album is on the list (although I guess some of the other reviewers don’t) but the style isn’t really for me. I just can’t really listen to rapping in nu-metal without it feeling kind of silly. I do think what the band set out to do was executed well though.
I liked Calm Like You already but there weren’t any other songs I liked on this album. I generally liked the style (I am neutral-to-positive about the Arctic Monkeys I guess) although the violins could be a bit much at times.
Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 is definitely better than this. This was just so boring the whole time. I don’t like George Michael much but I don’t dislike him either. This album was very irritating though, and I kept pausing it to go listen to something else. Still, it’s not actively bad enough to be a 1 star album.
I was kind of close to giving this a 2 because of its length and because it was a bit boring (I don’t really like Wilco that much in general) but I thought it picked up a bit as it went on. Still, I don’t really have anything else to say about it.
I was hoping to like this more but I have always preferred Blur to Gorillaz. It’s still good but I don’t know why Albarn’s voice is so high-pitched in Gorillaz. It’s kind of irritating. I still like Clint Eastwood though.
2nd listen. I don’t want to give every Rolling Stones album a 2 (I think I gave Exile on Main Street a 3) so I guess this is a 3. The only song I really like, Paint It Black, has really grown off of me so I just didn’t really enjoy this, but it’s not bad.
Second listen. I think I got his self-titled album on here before. I just don’t care for his style. It’s way too mellow. For some reason I appreciated You Can Call Me Al more this time.
It’s OK but I don’t really like this type of folk music. It’s a bit mellow (I can’t count the amount of times I’ve said this in a review at this point.) I can understand why it’s on the list. It’s sort of in the middle in terms of the 1960s standard folk albums that I’ve heard from the list so far.
I really enjoyed this and definitely have to revisit it sometime. I didn’t really have favorite songs but I think they would stand out more if I re-listened to it.
I preferred this to Dookie, maybe because it’s a bit more pop and sounds less… bratty, I guess? I’m still giving it 3 stars because I’m just not a fan of Green Day’s style.
I liked this album and would like to re-listen to it sometime soon. Still, whenever I listen to Nina Simone, I always enjoy it but it never fully clicks with me, and it’s kind of frustrating.
This was really bad. Just so boring. Not bad enough to give it 1 star though. I’m tempted to because the Spotify version includes his next album Streetheart as well and I accidentally listened to almost the entire thing.
Second listen. I like Garbage in general and really love the first three songs from this album. I think the lyrics can be pretty cheesy at times, though, and I don’t love the other songs, so it’s still a 4 instead of a 5.
Second listen. It’s pretty unusual for me to give 2 4 stars in a row. It might be the first time? Anyways, I really like this album. Life on Mars is definitely the highlight for me while the other songs don’t really stick out as much.
Second listen. I am really not sure whether I should give this a 3 or a 4. I really like the most popular songs (World In My Eyes, Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence, kind of Policy of Truth) but the others don’t do anything for me. Ultimately I’ll give it a 4 because I know it’s good and I don’t have any strong complaints against it and I like enough songs off of it.
I thought this was alright. I don’t know the band at all and really don’t know what was going on in the ‘90s in regards to punk, but it sounded fine? Just not super notable.
I’m not a metal person, so obviously I didn’t really love this. It was OK and I think it executed what it was going for. Also I just thought I should note that I really like Ministry’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay”, but that’s poppier than the songs on this album.
I don’t know, I have kind of mixed opinions on this. I’ve listened to this artist’s music before and it’s not for me, especially the vocals. However, I do feel like this album was pretty unique compared to a lot of the others on this list, so I’ll give it a 3 for now.
This album seems to be pretty infamous and I didn’t really get anything out of it. I think I zone out a lot when listening to metal. Not my genre, but also nothing stuck out to me, so I’ll give it a 2.
I liked this much more than I expected to and would probably place it close to the top relative to the other very famous rap albums on this list. However I’m still not really a fan of this because none of the songs really stuck out. I’ll have to re-listen to this sometime.
I don’t really know why there has to be more than 1 Manic Street Preachers album (The Holy Bible) on this list but this was OK. I liked the use of strings. In general I don’t really like the Manic Street Preachers much though.
I have heard about this a lot because I was trying to listen to more Spanish-language albums. It was OK, but not super distinctive. I liked “Malegría”.
Second listen. I know it’s good and I like White Rabbit, but I just struggle to remember the rest of the album. I don’t know, none of it really seems as impactful or as interesting as White Rabbit.
Apparently this was jazz? I just never really noticed anything about it. I was expecting it to be a rock album at first because of the name of the album and band, and my mild surprise after finding out it was not is the only thing I really remember about the album. It’s not bad but there doesn’t seem to be anything memorable.
I was a little concerned after not liking the first song, but this was alright in the end. I probably have to re-listen to it at some point. It was new wave-y but not really the kind that I like.
I can definitely understand why this is an all-time favorite for a lot of people. My main issue with this and LCD Soundsystem in general is the talk-singing style and the synths that don’t really change. Still, I liked it and its subject matter is pretty unique. The highlights for me were “All My Friends” and “New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”.
I liked this alright and would probably like it more with a re-listen. For the first few songs, I was wondering if I might give this a 2, but then it picked up and I liked more of the songs. I don’t know, there isn’t that much to talk about because the songs are mostly just melodies.
I really liked “Setting Sun” already but the rest of the album didn’t do it for me. I just don’t really like pure electronica that is heavy on the instrumentals.
It was alright. I don’t know, it really wasn’t boring enough to get a 2, but not as memorable as most of the 3s I give. Ultimately it’s a 3.
I don’t know, it’s kind of just another R.E.M. album to me. It’s fine.
OK, this one has been taking me forever so I’m just not going to finish it. I understand the intentions behind this album but it is just not interesting to listen to and the Nazi-ness is really off-putting, even though I know the band was trying to make a point about totalitarianism.
Reading the positive reviews about this album is really strange to me. Not because I actively dislike it, but because I didn’t really hear any of that on this album. I don’t know, desert blues for me is just in one ear and out the other. Maybe at some point this genre will grow on me.
I just don’t get it, I think I tuned out for almost all of this album.
Who decided this should be on the list
I think reggae is probably the genre that is most difficult for me to get.
Stop yelling at me please
I like “Eid Ma Clack Shaw” alright (although I had already heard it a couple of times), but the rest of the album is just so boring.
He needs to get new subject matter stat
I think this would have been better if I had any context for who Shaft is
For some reason it feels like partway through the album Peter Gabriel starts doing what can only be described as all of the accents of the cats from Cats. Why?
I definitely would have given this a 3 if it weren’t for the random preachiness in the middle of the album where he starts trying to explain the history of the USA or something. I feel like I’ve heard this on multiple rap songs, and I really have no idea what motivates cosplaying as a 2nd-grade teacher. Otherwise this is fine. The production is really good, and for that reason I can sort of see why it was nominated for Best Rap Album at the Grammys (not that it matters obviously, it’s the Grammys). Also I wasn’t looking at the tracklist and didn’t realize until after listening that Norah Jones & D’Angelo were on this album???
This album was mediocre for the majority of it, but that last song is just earth-shatteringly bad. Maybe the worst of the whole list so far.
This album made me retroactively realize that I am being too nice to some of these albums. Honestly, the last one should have been a 1 too. I’m just so tired of all the random picks on this list. Why? I know Ryan Adams is decently popular, but why is there so much of this dreck on here? And why did nobody take it out in the later editions? I return to this list after a 1yr hiatus and this is what I get? His voice is just so annoying and this album is longer than an hour! I’m so grateful my next album is Throwing Muses. Hopefully I never have to listen to Ryan Adams again.
This was a relief after the last few albums. I liked Green a lot. Not too much else to say here, though. Just a good album.
Boringgg. At this point I can’t tell if I’m being too harsh or if I’m just on a bad streak.
It was ok… the “te quiero” song downgraded this to a 2.
Most creative filler oat
