All That You Can't Leave Behind
U2This ain't it. Outside of U2's singles, I don't think I like them very much. This album is as exciting as a communion wafer.
This ain't it. Outside of U2's singles, I don't think I like them very much. This album is as exciting as a communion wafer.
Absolutely lush and gorgeous. Bush's voice and compositions are incredible, mind-bending, this album is perfect. Suspended in Gaffa is the new national anthem now, okay?
Underrated, gorgeous, heartfelt gem. The vocals are lovely. Truly an underappreciated masterpiece.
Really solid Tribe album, complete with fun rhymes and creative, old-school instrumentals you would expect. Classic!
Heard this more times than the national anthem. This album feels like a close friend. Every track is energetic, catchy, and GREAT.
fun, rustic, invigorating
Very cool album!
Sweet, wicked rhymes
She's incredible. Awesome songs, great Marvin cover!
Dancey, beautiful, and spunky
Folksy, smooth, snappy, and hoppy
Smart, well-produced, and good!
Fun, sounds nice, but not top tier Aerosmith, in my opinion
Ephemeral, fantastic, all-encompassing
Quirky, endless fun. Some very creative and amazing songs on here!
Virtuoso magic. Great sounds and a great mind. Classic fusion.
Smooth and great!
Pure poetry from one of the greats. Top tier Dylan, and good musicianship.
So cool and sounds amazing. Great tracks!
Transcendent electronic house jams. A fantastic era for the genre, I love the sound of the late 90's.
Iconic, cool, and tradition-breaking Glam rock masterpiece.
Sweet rhymes, unique instrumentals, and fun, plunderphonics influenced production!
An incredible, fun, campy, glam rock sound. Nothing else like. Russel's performance is awesome!
Underrated, gorgeous, heartfelt gem. The vocals are lovely. Truly an underappreciated masterpiece.
Top tier!!! Smooth, easygoing, comfortable, twangy, nostalgic, and absolutely classic.
Haunting, gorgeous, and math rock-y album. The lyrics are poetry!
Fantastic. A unique sound and a whole lot of energy and personality.
A twist of modern soul. Her voice was gorgeous!
Atmospheric post-pop landscapes punctuated by gorgeous storytelling.
Peak jangle pop. Fun, nostalgic, and "There She Goes" brings back a lot of memories. Gorgeous.
Invigorating and fun!
Cash was talented and charismatic; I don't think I could play at a prison this successfully!
Authentic, passionate, down to earth, Rasta flavor from the king himself.
This ain't it. Outside of U2's singles, I don't think I like them very much. This album is as exciting as a communion wafer.
Sweet, hard-hitting rhymes with a lot of energy and genuine fun. And awesome beats!
There are some genuine bops on here, and Morrisey is as sharp and sardonic as ever. It's pretty good.
Fantastic album full of Simon's trademark humor and creativity!
A fun punk romp full of incredible gems.
Outrageously gorgeous and funky soundscapes; a pitch perfect collaboration with David Byrne, another genius.
Extremely good. A solid album, and that cover of "Femme Fatale" is to die for!
An absolutely gorgeous album. Sensitive, beautiful, unique, it's everything!
Not my favorite Young album by a long shot, but still a fantastic collection of blues-rock tracks! The title track is incredible!
Smooth and unique instrumentation. It's no [sic] "Portishead", but it's still pretty great.
Simultaneously groovy, clever, funny, surreal, and odd. Super interesting!
A powerful, raw, emotional experience. Her voice is otherworldly, and I love the abrasive instrumentation.
Absolutely gorgeous, moving indie rock. For some reason, I didn't like it on my first listen, but now I really like it!
Not their best work, but still a very sweet album with a unique, engaging sound.
Not my favorite PSB work, but still good. The opening track rules.
A decent Country Western album, but not my favorite country sound at all. There were some pretty nice tunes on here though!
Absolutely magical. The opening and closing tracks in particular are mind-blowing!
I love Tom Waits A LOT. I'm also biased because I love trombone. But this album is genuinely fantastic.
A little underwhelming. I had been a fan of the title track for the longest time, but the rest of the album doesn't quite have that level of quality. It's a nice album, though.
Lush and beautiful! The vocals were nice, and the instrumentation was unique.
Absolute masterpiece. Not just one of my favorite metal albums, one of my favorite albums ever! Extremely hype, intense, fast-paced, horrifying, heart-pounding...and PERFECT.
The ultimate nostalgia trip. You know that feeling when you hear something you haven't heard in a while, and all you can think about is how different life was back then? That's this album.
Nico's vocals are absolutely splendid! This album is so gorgeous, I could listen to it 100 times over.
Absolutely impeccable Cuban music. The artistry and lyrical genius on here is hard to deny. Near perfect. Will always put this on if I have a rainy day.
Insane. The riffs on here are SICK NASTY..a HURRICANE of intensity. One of my all-time favorites. This one is so good it's RIDICULOUS
The pinnacle of goth darkwave club-core. Put this on, and I'm already wearing black and hitting the dance floor. Instantly catchy, moody goth jams. Perfect!
It's technically well made and decent, I guess, but the songs get a little repetitive, and I don't love this sub-genre of "hard rock about girls" enough to enjoy it all the way through. Title track is still fire!
Among Elton's best work. Indian Sunset is a sprawling, underrated masterpiece. Pretty much perfect!
Morrissey is just as irreverent as ever, and a lot of tracks on here jams, even if they aren't Smiths-tier masterpieces. I'll be putting "National Front Disco" on repeat for a few days, though!
Absolutely lush and gorgeous. Bush's voice and compositions are incredible, mind-bending, this album is perfect. Suspended in Gaffa is the new national anthem now, okay?
Heard this more times than the national anthem. This album feels like a close friend. Every track is energetic, catchy, and GREAT.
There are some really nice tracks here, and I especially liked "Standing in the Doorway", but overall it's not my favorite work from Dylan.
An angry, angry young man. The title track is still great but boy, this guy went through a lot. He has a nice flow, though.
Fantastic, jam-worthy, underrated album! The beats on here are so unique! I love it!
Electrifying combo of blues, hard rock, and rip-roaring riffs and guitar solos. There's some ultra impressive drum work on here too, which I wasn't expecting.
Both biting in its satire and inconceivably funky, especially the hit single "Money for Nothing"!
An 80's hit maker. The opening track is iconic. This is the PEAK of synthpop goodness. It's bouncy, layered, fun, anthemic, and funky. All round awesome album.
I enjoyed this a lot more than I did on my first listen. "I Wanna Be Your Dog" is still one of the best songs ever. I appreciate the discordance and the attitude of this album a whole lot more now. I especially like "Ann" a lot.
I like this one a LOT more than I did on my first listen. It's not in your face, but if you get into the "slacker vibe" and appreciate the instrumentation, it has a lot to offer.
From what I heard, this was so atmospheric and intense and nice in an odd way. My favorite Deerhunter sound so far!
Not my absolute favorite country sound, but I adore the slower songs on this record. Lynn has an amazing voice, and I love her persona. I still need to look more into her discography + life!
Cohen at his most earthy and percussive. Not my favorite Cohen era, but there's still lots to love here!
It's no Black Sunday, but there are some solid jams on here. I especially love "Psycobetabuckdown"!
So fun, and very gorgeous. My favorite folk sound, and "Si tu dois partir" is a gem.
Surprisingly creative early punk album. Fun!
There are some gems in here songwriting-wise, but the true marvel is the vocal work. Ella is undoubtedly one of the greats.
Really solid Kinks album. It's no "Arthur", but the mod spirit is there.
My absolute favorite brand of folk rock. "Marrakesh Express" is one my favorite songs ever.
Absolutely fantastic! I love the vocal performance on this a LOT, and this is my favorite type of indie pop. Great!
Very, very solid Elvis Costello album. A few more experimental tracks on here, which was fun to hear in his style!
I really like this unique brand of metal going on here..."Underwater Love" was an especially creative track.
Truly excellent live album, the crowd is really into the vocoder thing that Frampton uses, and it sounds cool! Some of quintessential Frampton tracks are on here!
Bowie does it again. A masterpiece and an ESSENTIAL soul reinvention in his discography. "Fame" is a PERFECT song.
Solid Wilco album, even if it's not my favorite. The blend between rock, country, and alt is pretty choice.
A complete blast. The instrumentals are sweet and the verses are fun and memorable!
The blend of metal and orchestral is pretty epic. I wonder how the classical musical community felt about this?
Very nice, but not my favorite Jay Z album by a long shot. I know it's beloved, but, I don't know, I just don't love these tracks. The flows are peak on here, though.
A bit generic, but it's fine. Enjoyable, upbeat metal. If I didn't have a soft spot for the genre, this score would be much lower.
Masterpiece. Absolute bangers on here, and each track is it's own journey. Love, love this album!
Loving this a LOT more than my first listen. It may just be top 3 Kanye for me, some of these tracks are total masterpieces.
Altogether gorgeous and moving and there's so many GOOD sounds it feels like an electronic dreamland. The ending track ;-; beautiful! Better than OK Computer, in my opinion.
A solid Pearl Jam album for sure, but I don't find their brand of 90's rock particularly exciting!
Super unique and fun bars and flows. Another underrated throwback rap album that was extremely influential!
A nice, comfy country album, but it didn't strike my particular taste in country. Still really solid, though!
I love Joy Division so much and this is one of their finest hours. It's bleak, industrial, and emotional. Perfect!
Intense, unadulterated heavy protest music. Perfectly heavy, funky, and angry. This album lives up to its name!
A really slammin' glam metal album! Turbonegro wears their influences on their sleeves in this one, which I appreciate.
Some of my favorite songs by Prince are on here! Absolute classic.
A fun, throwback French house jam. A few tracks felt too repetitive for my taste, but I enjoyed the album for the most part.
Absolutely mad work of art. Some of the instrumentals and flows on here blew my mind. The finale rocks.
Absolute masterpiece of rock and roll. Jimi is the one-and-only, an irreplaceable axe genius. "All Along the Watchtower" is my favorite track.
Very fun and breezy! I wasn't blown away by the tracks, but it was an easy listen.
One of the more unique yet intense metal albums I've heard. Their Brazilian roots are incorporated into the music in such a fun, clever way! It was cool to hear!
The ultimate blend of Goth rock and jangle pop. "I Wanna Be Adored" is one of the most beautiful, longing, dulcet songs I've ever heard. Classic!
I like this one way more than on my first listen. I appreciate this brand of discordant post-punk a lot more these days, and the philosophy of the album is so real.
I love the guitar on this album! A lot of the songs weren't my favorite, but I appreciate the musicianship on display here!
Absolutely gorgeous, I love MBV's style so much!
I absolutely love Harvey's vocals on this album, and the lyricism is incredible!
Still an absolute banger. No skips. NONE.
A very fun, solid Iron Maiden album. It's no "Powerslave", but it's got some great tracks nonetheless.
Definitely not my favorite album by them, but it's still super dreamy and space-age, which is a delight to hear.
I absolutely love this album, maybe my favorite album by Metallica!! The title track still slaps to this day.
A really solid punk album, but the latter half gets a little repetitive for me. There are some fun, creative tracks on here, though!
Such a chill, sweet sounding rock album. A very throwback sound, I especially loved "Girl From Mars"!
Super fun, trippy, and creative psychedelic rock album! I love this sound from the '60's!!
Inventive, beautiful, and poetic. There's so much energy and soul in these tracks, it's incredible front to back.
Fantastic. The vocals and lyricism are breathtaking, and closing track was one of the biggest surprises in music for me.
The sounds on here are incredible! These are the smoothest, most satisfying tracks I've heard since "Blue". I especially love the transition between "Trouble Child" and "Twisted". Both top tier tracks, too.
An absolute game changer. PE dropped a classic with this one. "Burn Hollywood Burn" is a favorite of mine, but a lot of these songs are trailblazers.
An inventive, gorgeous, eerie, smooth album! I love the more creative/genre-blending tracks on here, like the jazzy closer and "Some Riot". "Grounds for Divorce", despite the awesome track name, was a low point, it felt a little generic pop-rock, but it's not that egregious taking into account the year this was made.
Some of the smoothest sounds and engaging, emotional, and aggressive lyricism I've heard in a while! 2Pac was truly one of the greats.
The funkiest, danciest, most layered electropop albums I've ever heard. Bops front to back.
A few fun, funky tracks on this album, but a lot of weak tracks too. Some of them were pretty dope, though!
Absolutely GORGEOUS and lush 60s baroque folk. So beautiful, one of my favorite genres ever!
Wild, "out there" space rock; proof that Pink Floyd have been pushing the boundaries since day one.
Truly epic! There's a reason that this is THE quintessential rock opera. Jam packed with fun, rock n' roll, and cameos.
Really solid live album, "My Generation" live is a masterpiece.
Absolutely PERFECT. Womack remains the king of soul, and this album is one of my favorites. Every track is genius, but "If You Think You're Lonely Now" is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Gorgeous, heartbreaking, one-of-a-kind...this and Bookends are my favorite S&G works ever!!!
Not the most consistent OutKast album, but still full of masterful moments and singles. Both sides have their own atmosphere and both have a lot to offer!
Surprisingly creative and fun folk/blues/rock album! The covers were great and the slower songs were gorgeous, too!
Cyndi is in peak form here. So fun, upbeat, quirky, and dancy!
One of my favorite works from The Fall. Really creative and appealing, with a sound that I love.
One of my favorite folk albums, period!
Really solid Tribe album, complete with fun rhymes and creative, old-school instrumentals you would expect. Classic!
Run DMC has some of the most fun throwback tracks out there. The openers are definitely the strongest, but the whole thing is pretty nice.
A fun, interesting contribution by Cube. The use of samples on this was cool, and the production in general was my favorite aspect of this album!
An extremely unique, interesting entry by the Beach Boys. I haven't heard them sound this morose before, it's actually a really sweet sound.
It's a little jangly/acoustic for my taste, but it's still pretty nice. I liked 1 or 2 of the tracks a whole lot.
This was a fascinating industrial/cabaret album, I adore the atmosphere! Some of the songs were a little repetitive for my taste, but I liked most of them.
A really sweet, comfy album. Ray sounds amazing on this one!
Energetic, pure, afrobeat, from a classic artist. It's not my favorite genre ever, but it holds a special place in my heart.
Truly a gem, Tracy was ahead of her time! These tracks are gorgeous, the emotions are so potent and real. A favorite of mine.
A tight album. Some really great bars are on here, and I love the use of samples.
The sound this band has is great, albeit a little repetitive. I like the song titles.
Masterpiece. Some of the best songs of the decade are on here. Lauryn Hill is a GENIUS!!!
A really invigorating salsa album!! This is probably one of the best salsa albums I've heard in general, it's really great!
The Specials are so fun, I love their sound. I hear lots of what inspired Gorillaz phase 1 in this one.
This is a pretty nice album, I really liked "Oh My Love".
I love blues classics and this is top tier! Muddy Waters was one of the best there was, the opening track still kills.
A.D. has a unique, cool sound, and I like their philosophy. It's very chill, and the instrumentation on some of the songs was great, especially "Raining Revolution".
This is a really sweet album. Kind of reminds me of the Yardbirds. I especially love the closing track!
I absolutely LOVE this album. It's Steely Dan-esque with a kinda Frank Zappa vibe?
This was a really nice, creative alternative rock/folk blend. It's very relaxing and enjoyable.
I love the folky, new age-tinged sound this album has. I'm especially a fan of "Levi Stubbs' Tears"!
The lyrics and vocals on this album are incredibly gorgeous ;-;
The height of glam rock, and my favorite Roxy album so far! "Bitter-Sweet" is epic!
I love this! It's an extremely unique, trippy, and creative album!
I love the space-rock energy of this album. The singles aren't the strongest tracks in my opinion, but the instrumentals on here are pretty great.
It's not my favorite Who era/album, but it still has some real classic bangers ("Won't Get Fooled Again" is iconic!)
I really like this album, especially "Boy About Town"! It's got a perfect new-wave sound.
Absolutely PERFECT album. Genuinely one of the greatest achievements in rock, and music in general. One of my favorites!!!
A downright extraordinary album. Jimi was insanely creative and talented, it's incredible!!
I can appreciate how influential this is, and I like the punk aesthetic. They're not my favorite punk band by a long shot, though.
I really liked this album, it had a such a cool sound. I love the britpunk aesthetic a lot, and I appreciate the influence this had.
I thought the genre blending on this album was nice (I liked the country influence!) but it wasn't very memorable.
This is definitely an album.
So breezy, smooth, and creative. Loved it!
Pretty nice brit-pop!
I love the blues/pop blend, and "Over, Under, Sideways, Down" is so good!
Masterpiece!!! Poetic, threaded with amazing influences, and loaded with some of Kendrick's best bars.
A really groovy album!
It's not "Raw Power", but it's still raw, groovy, and classic. "Lust for Life" is pretty good, but I completely forgot about "The Passenger", it's one of my favorites by Iggy!
I love the singles, and the other songs were not as dull as I expected; there's some genuinely great 80s rock songs on here that aren't "Living on a Prayer"!
I don't -love- the production, but it's still a very charming album. The last track is pretty great, I even like it more than the title track!
Smooth, emotional, and creative. I love it, I just love it!
I'm so sad
Really fun and heartfelt rock/spoken word stuff. The opening track was the perfect start to this album, I loved it!
A lot of fun, and super energetic and creative. I just wish a lot of the songs were looonger!
Absolute CLASSIC. Like, wow. A lot of these songs hold up so well, they capture the epic emotions and paradoxically small scale of the suburbs. Beautiful!
I like this album! The songs range from really vibe-y, synthy, smooth jams, to just-ok synthpop songs, and its perfect background music. I listened to both the English side and the French side of this and I preferred the French side slightly, but I love the French language so I'm biased hehe.
I LOVE this album. A lot. Too much. Like, it isn't perfect and a few songs are just fine (e.g. Hold My Liquor and Guilt Trip) but when it hits it really hits. Some of my all-time favorite ye tracks come off of this album (New Slaves, Bound 2, Black Skinhead, Blood on the Leaves, in that order) and the whole things is just a vibe. I'm In It and On Sight are pretty good, too. It just encapsulates ye's attitude and lo-fi era perfectly (I Am a God) and the lyrics are consistently hilarious and iconic. It's just. Great.
Now THIS is the combination of psychedelic, heavy rock, folk, and baroque (dig that harpsichord solo!) that the 60s is known for, I love it!
I don't think The Rolling Stones can quite pull of the range of genres they reach for in this album, but it's still quite good! I'm not the biggest fan of their attempts at slow songs, but I understand those songs' popularity.
Don't Look Back in Anger > Wonderwall. That's my hot take for today.
Pretty sweet album, I love the vibe. RIP Lemmy.
It's not "Kid A", but I love a lot of tracks on here, especially the title track. And Radiohead always knows how to make a great closer!
Almost half a century later and these songs still go hard. The sheer VIRTUOSITY on display here is astonishing. Like, that heavy-ass intro on "Heart of the Sunrise"? Those syncopated drums on "Long Distance Runaround"?? My mind is EXPANDING!!!
Stan Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk RULES. I could hear and FEEL the neon lights in "Neonlicht". Ultra beautiful, slick, and futuristic, even 43 years later!!!
So SO smooth and beautifully produced. It's soulful, conscious rap, and I loved the features!
Beautiful and ultra hygge. Autumn vibes, folky tunes, I love it.
I love revisiting this classic. It's so dreamy and dense and just perfect!!
This album is full of refreshing, oddly moving early 2k rock; it's just my cup of tea!
Ultra smooth! The vocals on these tracks are downright heavenly!! Especially on "The First Time Ever" and "Do Your Thing". "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" still slaps, too!
This is so weird and artsy I love it. The instrumentation is prog-y and orchestral, it sounds amazing.
"I Shot the Sheriff" is a nice cover, but the majority of these tracks didn't speak to me!
This was a pretty interesting RnB album, I appreciate the narrative elements woven into it.
The contrast between the roughness of the guitar and the vocals and the more raspy, soft tracks is so euphoric. "Chapel Hill" and "Drunken Butterfly" are especially beautiful!
I love how heavy yet sweet this album is. "Jane Says" is actually one of my new favorite songs now. It's just so harsh and sentimental. The whole album sounds great!
There are some super lovely tracks on here, like "The Pearl", and Emmylou's voice is quite nice—the album is just waaay too long, and it feels like it drags on forever by the time the last, like, 6 tracks come in. Cut this in half and it's easily an 8/10 for me, but the length and monotony of the tracks really drags the whole experience down.
These tracks are so beautiful and epic, I especially loved "Born Under a Bad Sign". It had incredible instrumentation and, like the other tracks on here, the vocals were quite nice!
Wow what a cool, fun trip-hop jam! Some of these tracks were entrancing, like "Your Lucky Day in Hell" and the title track!
Oooo boy now this is a certified classic. Ocean has clearly already established the mainstays of his discography by this point, with the evocative yet sensitive lyrics and achingly beautiful vocals that underpin each song. "Pyramids" is just plain epic. I love this album!!!
Blissed out and atmospheric genius. T.D. is really something special, it almost reminds of side B of Bowie's "Low" in its impeccable synth compositions.
I find this style of smooth RnB a little monotonous, the best parts of the album for me were when the formula got shaken up a little bit, like on "Breakdown". Everything else was just fine, but it just isn't impactful or bold enough to catch my attention, just kinda slides off me. Mariah is a great singer, though.
These aren't my preferred Jane's Addiction songs, but this is still a solid album. "No One's Leaving" is great, and "Classic Girl" is sweet!
The rest of this album is pretty tight, but "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" goes so hard to this day. That song is epic!
One of my top Black Sabbath albums, St. Vitus Dance is still a favorite of mine by them!
Charles is top-tier in this album, and some of the beautiful performances I've heard from him are on this album! Especially "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "Am I Blue"!
This album is really underrated, I hadn't heard of it before! The performances are sooo smooth and infectious, they're amazing!
This is album is so sooo beautiful! The combination of soul and avant-garde is downright heavenly!
Not a genre/style that resonates with me, but some of the performances were quite moving. Particularly in "Mary's Place", I loved the vocals!
Immediate favorite! This is a magical discovery! "Lovefool" has been one of my favorite songs for a while, and the "Iron Man" cover is ill. Every song IS my favorite song, but I'll listen to "Your New Cuckoo" obsessively. And check out more of their work. Pretty great!
The sheer force of personality and charm of Nirvana made this really enjoyable, and I can't get enough of "Come as You Are" live! It sounds amazing, and their covers are really solid too (I love a Bowie cover!)
I'm surprised I've never head of this artist! The songs have exciting instrumentation and the vocal performance is very moving! Especially in songs like "If You Need Me"!
A sweet idea for a novelty album, boasted by its 70s era earnest corniness. The song they sampled in that one Fresh Prince episode is on here so that rocks. This would be rated much higher if everything on Side B wasn't so mid! Side A slaps hard, though.
Absolute MASTERPIECE. Oh boy. This is one of the most breakneck, flawlessly funky rap albums ever. I'm convinced "Scenario" is the most fun I'll ever have listening to a rap song. "Everything Is Fair" is also a highlight, and features one of the MANY heart-stoppingly infectious samples/instrumentals on this album. Perfect!
Probably the wildest that any Beatles album got, and I love it to pieces. "Happiness is a Warm Gun" is still one of their most addictive, mystifying songs. "Blackbird" is one of the Beatles' best songs ever, and "Yer Blues" is an interesting excursion into a new genre for the group. "Piggies" is downright haunting. The whole thing just rules, I still think about years after my first listen!
The melody on "Lem Gi" is surprisingly moving and vibrant! That one and "Ndelorel" sounded funnily like N64 music, which is fitting considering the year this was released :U Very cool!
I'm apathetic. I like classic rock but this is just hippie spiel.
Compared to Young's other work, this was a little underwhelming on account of the lack of creativity in the vocal delivery, which was one of my favorite elements of his songs. It's still solid, though!
I hadn't heard "Nothing Compares to U" in it's entirety before this, so I enjoyed hearing it in full. The vocals are haunting on the closing track, and I love the singular voice Sinead has!
The 2k French triphop sound this album has is soooo dope. I live for "Kiss and Make Up". Gonna make that my alarm for a while, actually ;3;
Not the best Led Zep, but funky as hell—way funkier than it has any right being! I forgot how much I liked "The Wanton Song".
Absolutely beautiful, a lot of these tracks are perfect. "All These Years" and "Me and a Gun" are proof that music can literally break me.
In love with the lyricism on "Furry Sings the Blues", and "Refuge of the Roads" is pretty dang groovy!
Swag af trip-hop infused lounge sounds. Brb gonna blast this from my poolside cabana v
It's ok. Other than the 2 singles I'd heard previously, "You Oughta Know" and "Ironic", I don't know why this album resonated with so many people, idk
I am HERE to stan "I Want You to Want Me" and "Surrender" ONLY!!!
Absolutely perfect. The title epic-length track holds up, I could listen to it forever despite its length. Some of my favorite instrumentation on a prog song!
A little less consistent than his previous outings, but quite good nonetheless. The level of storytelling and the beauty of the soulful instrumentals is still on point. Love Marvin!
For me, Missy is at her best taking cues from hip-hop rather than RnB. I'm just not a big fan of the contemporary RnB/urban sound, though I can appreciate it. It's no coincidence that all of my favorite tracks on here, minus "Play That Beat", have a really good feature. The highlights for me were Jay's feature and TLC's tribute to Lisa and other musicians who have passed, the rest I can take or leave.
Incredible album with a unique, morose sensibility...and perfect timing : )
Peaceful, exciting, and delightfully complex. I'm glad learned about this band, they provide Can levels of bliss. "The Taut and Tame" blew me away.
Beautiful, soulful, smooth album by the king. Title track is a banger 24/7 365 baby!
Welcome to paradise, baby
We get it you're vegan...just kidding, this one is pretty good. A little more inconsistent than my favorite works by them, but there are still stand-outs here and there, like "I Want the One I Can't Have" and "Nowhere Fast".
So sweet, I love the nostalgic tone, especially on "Burning" and "Red Eyes".
This is the realest, coolest live jazz album ever. It really subverts my expectations about live jazz from this era, but that made it way more memorable.
It's ok but not a genre that's exciting to me anymore :/
I respect blues rock, that doesn't mean I enjoy it!
Pretty and earnest, but a little too acoustic for me. Goodbye Sunday is a hit though!
Big big fan of these moody, melodic alt rock vibes. Kinda gives me an Interpol feeling...
These are GORGEOUS, especially "No More Trouble" and "400 Years"!! The lyrics/melodies are soulful yet foreboding, and the Jamaican rhythms remind me of sunnier days...
Man I LOVE Costello's singing, and the instrumentation on "Living in Paradise" and "The Beat" is great. "Lipstick Vogue" has insane energy, one of my favorite songs of his.
Now THIS I can really jam to. 808080808 goes hard af, "Sunrise" is pure bliss, and "Cobra Bora" sounds like a 90's Sonic stage. That's good stuff right there.
Yeah sorry I can't stand this : / "Great Expectations" was just *shudders*
Not my favorite work by the band. It's cool, but it doesn't remotely reach the heights of IV or even their debut.
A really cool jazz-centric entry from Scott-Heron, but no where near the genius of his spoken word stuff. Still good, though.
I admire the glam influence but this is too post-punk for me sorry :/
I'm not a big fan of this genre, but Tonight and Queen of Eyes were quite nice.
SO ethereal and beautiful I love it...Lullaby is *_* gorgeous. One of the most perfect songs they ever made.
Heavy af this totally rips!! I like it for the same reason Led Zep 1 is my favorite LZ album, I can't get enough of those heavy riffs!
I enjoyed this much more than previous Fall albums I checked out, it actually made me laugh a bit. Loved Rebellious Jukebox and the "SIX MINUTES" in Music Scene was funny.
Straight classics on here! I love It's A Sin especially. A little underwhelming compared to my memory of it, but still hits.
Absolute perfection. Bliss. Incredible. The title track is genuinely one of the most gorgeous compositions ever put to record. Now THIS is symphonic rock at it's finest. VU alum >>>
Some absolute classics and some knockout covers on here. Who's That Lady has infinite airplay for a reason. And that Summer Breeze cover? Blissful. Peaceful. Unbothered. Unhurried. Amazing.
Dang this is so glam-y, I never would've guessed it was a 90's Britpop boom band. Gotta be one of my fav sub-genres fr!
WOW this is one of the most creative, moody, and beautiful albums I've heard! Waitin' for a Superman, A Spoonful Weighs a Ton, and The Spiderbite Song, they're all just...wow! Flaming Lips > Radiohead, change my mind!
The beats on this are unbelievable. Some of them hit me real hard, and some of them are just so creative, energetic, or out of the left field. Red Alert is an especially great track!
Powerful country-folk, I was especially moved by "Sam Stone" and "Angel From Montgomery" :'( They're all so sad.
A dreamy, spacey, and unique iteration on the Radiohead sound; I really appreciated the jazz/brass elements they incorporated into their sound. "You and Whose Army?" and "Morning Bell / Amnesiac" were so good!!
Never was my favorite Zep album—sorry! I know critics love this one but the debut has always been my go-to, along with 4. I was never a fan of acoustic music, and that sound doesn't really do Zep any favors here. Friends is forgettable, That's the Way is downright a *skip*, and Hats off to Roy Harper is borderline cultural appropriation (but really, isn't most of their work?) Since I've Been Loving You is the real stand-out here for me, followed by Immigrant Song and, funnily enough, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp (I just want to hug a dog whenever I hear it, y'know?)
The tragic charm of a bygone lounge crooner, weaving tales of lost love and a childhood scathed. "Next" hit me especially hard, and "Come Next Spring" was a perfectly bittersweet closer.
This brand of edgebro 80s rock has really lost it's hold on me since my childhood, I gotta say! The closer is really cool though, never heard that one before.
Hey I like this one. It's easy to see why a lot of the tracks on here have less cultural staying power than his bigger hits, but it's a formidable debut to say the least. "Money Honey" and his cover of "I Got a Woman" struck me as particularly charismatic.
Dope beats by Underworld. It's not their best album, but tracks like "Pearls Girl" make a great case for it.
I liked this way more than I expected, considering I tend to dislike the bulk of later Metallica albums I've heard. "Frayed Ends of Sanity" and a few others had really cool riffs, with "One" as outlier, standing out as the worst track on the whole thing.
This had some bold and experimental points, and I dig the psychedelic feel of some of the songs. A little low-key for me, but still nice.
A super satisfying and moving blend of singer-songwriter soul, emotional lyricism, and a taste of breezy 90s production. Pretty good!
CCR have a cool style and the Heard It Through the Grapevine cover was pretty solid but, in the end, it's not my favorite style of rock
Those siblings sure can rock. Instant classic!
The coolest album ever...the spoken word portions are perfectly executed, and I love the smooth blues-y instrumentation -french chef kiss-
Watch Duran Duran go absolutely HAM on iconic baselines for 42 minutes. A lotta classics on here, My Own Way slaps but it's super underrated
