Garbage
3/5
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
after a 4-day bender this was exactly what my brain needed.
nice
Aretha Franklin
4/5
For someone to do an Otis Redding song better than Otis Redding
garners my Respect.
Wilco
4/5
1hr20 is too long for an album
I liked this album a lot more until Albert put me onto another album of theirs which is better…
The Prodigy
4/5
Did a lot of IT stuff on Friday
Felt very 90s movie hacker montage
I said “I’m in.” dramatically several times
King Crimson
4/5
Pretty cool all in all
My problem with prog rock is theres always something to ruin it for me
2 minute flute solo being the issue here
Living Colour
3/5
Yeah real weird mix, thoroughly enjoyed though
Tim Buckley
3/5
it was cool, a lot of filler
3/5
Talking Heads
4/5
The Police
3/5
2 billion streams on a song about a stalker kinda crazy
weirdly enjoyed this though
Shack
2/5
Essentially if you have a Heroin addiction & write a couple songs you have like a 50% chance of making it into this book
The Stone Roses
3/5
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
While I’m a big Kendrick fan and recognise his significance in lyricism and influence on hip-hop as a whole, I dont quite understand the position of this album as supposedly “the best album of all time”.
Perhaps I’m missing something, but I’ve heard it plenty times and enjoy it as a very good album and not much more.
Radiohead
5/5
I wouldnt say I’m much of a Radiohead fan
I am however, an In Rainbows fan
The Black Keys
4/5
Really enjoyed this album, modern blues rock definitely something I have time for
Little bit of filler makes it a 4.5 and I’ll round down.
Leonard Cohen
3/5
Yeah it was nice, I’ve tried listening before
I realised the fact that Dylan can’t sing in tune is exactly what makes his music more interesting to me
Ute Lemper
2/5
dead
Ramones
4/5
You can hear a lot of what inspired future artists and for that it seems important
Understandably it seems like everything they did here has been done since, but better
The Velvet Underground
4/5
Yeah I mean it was good
I never get these hugely influential cult-classics: if they are so good, why do they never have any commercial success?
The Smiths
4/5
least favourite Smiths album. Still pretty enjoyable background music
Goldie
4/5
I kinda liked it. Definitely experimental & doesnt fit in with the niche of people that use this - hence why its ratings are so bad.
I’ll bet if this was released by Radiohead everyone would be saying how inspired it is
Billy Bragg
2/5
eh
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Hell yeah
Not quite 5 stars but very solid album
Jethro Tull
3/5
Nas
4/5
Defining hip-hop album & personal favourite. Kinda tough to come out with such a good debut album, not sure Nas ever topped this
Nirvana
4/5
Pretty cool album, still think Nevermind is better.
I’ll bet this is rated twice as highly as the Nas album yesterday though which speaks to the niche of people here
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Something about the bleak depiction of run-down old working towns reminded me of home
It seems this is the music he wanted to be making, except for the fact it didnt sell & no one else liked it…
Coldplay
4/5
Dont think I’ve ever listened through this album in full. Its not Parachutes but much better than expected, easy listening.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Nice album, not too long with some of their most famous songs
Personally I dont think tops some of Simon’s solo work but still up there
Jimmy Smith
4/5
Otis Redding
4/5
I love Otis Redding & this is one of his best.

Carole King
4/5
This was an album. Thoroughly enjoyed
Taylor Swift
3/5
lowkey had some bangers. Hard to argue with the influence of this album regardless if its to your taste. Last 3/4 songs were purely filler though
Sparks
2/5
this sucked
The Specials
3/5
Not really sure why they bothered putting this one on here. Their debut album without question up there but this was very half-arsed
The Pogues
4/5
I was aware they made more than just an overplayed christmas song from my Dad, but had never gone out of my way to listen to much of it.
Definitely a marmite kind of taste but personally really enjoyed this
The Notorious B.I.G.
4/5
A classic 90s hip hop album, all of my favourite B.I.G songs on.
East > West still, doesn’t beat Illmatic, 2Pacalypse etc.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
Of course incredible album, majority of their best songs. Agree that quality towards the end goes somewhat downhill, maybe the drugs catching up…
Joni Mitchell
2/5
Mj Cole
3/5
Ok its way too long but if you skip through the highlights this is a really good example of old school garage
I fw it
Willie Nelson
2/5
Typically I would like this style
This was pretty dull
Common
4/5
Peak Kanye era production
Maybe less well known than College Dropout but arguably just as goood
Aretha Franklin
3/5
I cant argue soul is the most technically advanced genre
This is still a serious groove
Buena Vista Social Club
5/5
best album, ever
Charles Mingus
3/5
Pretty enjoyable as a modern jazz album, not really sure why they chose this one over any of his others but not bad
Justin Timberlake
2/5
Lowkey enjoyed this, still an awful early 2000’s pop album
Creedence Clearwater Revival
4/5
Cool album

4/5
Yeah hard to argue with, pretty damn good album

4/5

Still a couple tracks that are bangers
Fela Kuti
4/5
Really interesting genre very enjoyable
Wu-Tang Clan
5/5
Possibly greatest old school hip hop album of all time?

T. Rex
4/5
Fela Kuti
4/5
Better than his last album even. Very fun genre good plate-loading music
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Not their best album, I agree if they didnt go on to be THE Rolling Stones this wouldn’t have made the book.
Regardless, blues covers I’m never against
New York Dolls

OutKast
3/5

Dead
Janelle Monáe
2/5
dead
Count Basie & His Orchestra
4/5
Classic swing jazz, whats not to like?
Frank Zappa
4/5
The only Zappa i knew was some questionable satirical Blues rock. So this was awesome and very unexpected
Public Enemy
3/5
Probably their 3rd best album, not convinced it needed including but still solid album nonetheless
Derek & The Dominos
4/5
A couple of Clapton’s best, shame they never managed more than one album but thats as long as anyone could put up with him I feel
Prince
3/5
Prince is Prince really - some serious funk, some hella weird lyrics and overall a disjointed feel across the album
Red Hot Chili Peppers
3/5
Not as good as Californication. Arguably Under the Bridge doesnt match the vibe of the rest of the album at all. Still solid
Harry Nilsson
3/5
That one about coconuts slaps & Reservoir Dogs is my favourite Tarantino so extra credit
Enjoyed the eclectic mix on this one

Emerson, Lake & Palmer
1/5
I gained nothing from this
The Specials
4/5
Classic album, the best of Ska music
Joan Baez
4/5
I tend to prefer male vocals for folk music (Dylan, Cohen, Tim Buckley etc.)
However really enjoyed this & cant argue with the quality - I always thought Dylan was the first to popularise House of the Rising Sun but she recorded it first!
The xx
5/5
This is a fantastic album. The tone of guitars across the album incredible, simple, effective
5 stars
Stevie Wonder
3/5
The Byrds
2/5
boring

This was cool
The Doors
5/5
Sonic Youth
3/5
The Beau Brummels
