For an adult contemporary album, a notoriously terrible genre, this one stands out among its peers. Consistent tracklisting with a strong vocal performance throughout, Adele makes this typically mundane and sappy genre impactful. If an album has of quality equal to Rumor Has It, Rolling in the Deep, Set Fire to the Rain, and Someone Like You than you know it is at lease something special. Beyond that I have a soft spot for the Lovesong, One and Only and Turning Tables.
It isn't the greatest album in the world and can sometimes become extremely sappy and drag but overall its a fun time. I recommend it!
2.5/5 (which may seem low but 2.5 is average in my rating system.)
It's cool, it's soulful (obviously), it's 70s and it is a relaxing time. Too bad the songs individually did not stick out that much to me. Overall decent but nothing mindblowing.
2.5/5
Y’know that one buzz lightyear meme where they’re all on the shelf as identical copies of eachother? That’s every blues band, and this album and band are no exception. If you like blues noodling with the most generic “I’m a man you’re a woman let’s have sex”-type lyricism then maybe this album is for you but otherwise just avoid this schlock. The last 5 songs in particular suck particularly hard, I guess the hits are passable.

This would be good if anything happened. A complete nothingburger.
1.5/5
Man idk about this one. On one hand, its overly sachrine and sappy and none of the songs hook you. There is almost a nostalgic warm feeling and theyre so close to capturing something special but they never quite get there. The songs are flat the production is overly clean and ther lyricism is pretty poo. Whatever idk
1.5/5
Its like so close to being perfect and the title track is a top 10 song ever
4.5/5
Well this was better than expected! Lotta pop punk ragers on the first half of this bad boy, too bad it falls off after the big heavy hitters but the songs arent bad, they just arent as good. And yeah the heavy hitters, self esteem and come out and play are pop/skate punk alltimers.
3.5/5
Prob the cheesiest 80s synth slop. Like not the worst thing ever but rlly nothing special either, some songs hit nice highs ig, look of love is solid. Yea whatever pretty inoffensive
2/5
Im gonna prooooooggggggggg im proggggiinnggggg hnggff
Yeah its a 70s prog album, very soft and fun, nothing too special in the genre. Compare it to the heavy hitters like KC or PF this aint anything but on its own its enjoyable. First two songs are slappers tho
3.5/5
Some of the catchiest, funnest, and smoothest soul/disco around! This album a blast, nothing but gold throughout!
4/5
Pop punk rager lots of classics some duds is what it is
3.5/5
If you randomly sampled songs from this album you would find that 1/2 of these songs rock, 1/4 of them completely suck, and 1/4 of them will be really strange in a neither positive nor negative way. That is to say, this album is good but contains too many loose ideas and is far too long.
2/5
good times, fantastic, the rest kinda eh, nothing too noteworthy. If I wanted Nile Rodgers I'd rather listen to Sister Sledge or smthn.
2/5
Opener is the best guitar solo of all time, the rest is funk perfection
4.5/5
Some weaker cuts but a whole lot of bangers, straight boomer thrash anthems on this bad boy, big ups to hangar 18
3.5/5
i never liked this band, not for me
1/5
No strong feelings bout this one, spiritualized would to much more interesting stuff later anyway
2/5
Silly goofy fun, this album is so quick and a complete blast all the way thru
4.5/5
it was cool background music, neat samples ig
2.5/5
This band would go on to do much cooler things (songs for the deaf) neat start but not essential
This is better as a relic than an actual listening experience. The music…. is fine, its samey, overly sentimental and Frank’s crooning gets boring after a while. However, if you treat this album as a piece of history on taste of people in the 1950s I think this album becomes more interesting, however it still doesn’t make it special. I could have chosen any Frank album for that same experience. It also doesn’t function as a wholistic history like Ella’s songbook series which is infinitely more interesting.
Tl;dr you can skip this one
2/5
This album is rubbish
1.5/5
Too long purple rain better
2.5/5
Bloated, tons of overrated tunes on this one too
1.5/5
so close to perfect, falls off near the end, friend of mine and unbelievable are the only misses. the what is an underrated track. (also ignore the interlude lol we do a bit of trolling)
4.5/5
it has one and a half good songs on it. the rest is cheese
1.5/5
be fr this shouldnt be here, even for TS standards this is bad
their debut is better but this is a fun album, less moody and gothic and more danceable
Bands wish they made this album
Bands wish they made this album
good album but i wish bass existed
Alt rock/grunge with a tinge of shoegaze, whats not to love. Mayonnaise is a classic turbo rager
i genuinely wonder how some of these albums are chosen. like are we fr ts is such a nothingburger slop snore bore fest. just listen to radiohead or coldplay or literally any other post-britpop band and theyll be more interesting. these dudes cant write a melody thats catchy or interesting for the life of them. the singer is doing his best thom yorke impression and failing. and there isnt even a single riff on this entire album?!!! whats the point of this, at least coldplay and radiohead know how to write smthn that sticks. this is slop!!!!!!!1
1.5/5
If you like this youre either still a child, a disney adult, or havent listened to enough music. Grow up
If you think Bohemian Rhapsody is the best song ever PLEASE listen to more music. This is like comparing silver to bronze, yeah its better than most music but it aint gold.
As I’m going through this “challenge” and reading “reviews” of other users I’m realizing a few things. Firstly, I think the crowd that is going through this challenge don’t appreciate music enough. All the 1 star reviews are just snide remarks without any thought given to the content of the album. I suppose that’s what happens when reviews are left unmoderated unlike RYM. Secondly, I think people are forgetting context or are missing the context necessary to appreciate a work. Anyway those are just random thoughts, I’m too lazy to elaborate further, anyway the album.
This album has its flaws, the sound is dated, it’s exceedingly British, but for its era it has a strong personality. You could honestly treat this music as regional world music the way we often treat other genres. It encapsulates a tradition and culture phenomenally and the musicianship on this thing is quite solid. I wish the songwriting was stronger on some songs but overall it’s not a bad listen. I think people aren’t being fair and aren’t framing the album in an appropriate light. It’s a dumb, fun, witty, well performed pub rock world album.
