Not my everyday jam, but this album re-shaped R&B. Superstition may be one of my favorite tracks of all time—that bassline moog is next level.
Not something I’d listen to everyday, but appreciate the influences it had on other artists I like. The Clash continues to speak to the same political environment we’ve had for the past 40+ years.
Had heard the big hits before (aka: Our Lips are Sealed), but think their deeper cuts were more impressive. To me, this album is 80’s LA.
"Pretzel logic" refers to twisted or illogical reasoning. See Example: Steely Dan being on this list.
One of my favorite albums of all time.
Remember when that country dude re-recorded Fast Car --didn't change a thing (ie: “in the market as a checkout girl")-- made the song even more popular (8x Platinum)--and won Song of the Year ? Sums up the music industry. This was a solid album, and more people would be talking about it if it was recorded differently...hint hint
This was a mess that grew on me. Was surprised how much this music stuck in my head-- Life is Life.
Jonathan Richman makes bread ovens now. I think I'd rather listen to bread ovens than this.
Love the Who… but this isn’t for my generation.
Sandman never gets old. Very polished and even has a bass player.
From Metallica to…Ravi Shankar. Wow. Felt like it was background music for a crowded street scene in an adventure movie (Indiana Jones and the Golden Sitar?) Did I appreciate it? Yes. Would I purposefully listen again? Probably not.
Feeling all the Kanye vibes without the Kanye.
Ya know what's not superunknown? How much this album rocks.
My favorite Lord of the Rings album ever.
When I listen to albums like Bug, I think of that time the US Army played Van Halen's 'Panama' on repeat to help drive Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega to surrender... that operation took a week to force him out of the embassy he was sheltered in. The Army could've played this album once and he would've surrendered in the middle of the sonic assault known as "Don't"...
