We saw them live at the Phoenix Concert hall in Feb 2004. The night before we went to cayman for the first time. They are a great live band.
Liked this album a lot. Great dinner music or hanging by the dock.
Being generous. This was not an album for me but I wouldn’t hate it if it was on in the background of a busy restaurant
No a fan of disco in general and this doesn’t seem the best of it. One star for their hit Le Freak.
Go cry on someone else’s shoulder is a gem. Definitely weird, sometimes funny but probably not going to be played by me again.
Tightrope
Deep cotton songs ok
Not my type of music in general
Ok. Not for me. 3 stars. I also don’t love David Bowie.
Could be work music. Not totally my music.
Not surprisingly I don’t like my music to contain certain words ( yeah looking at you P and N words).
But this album wasn’t written for an old white suburban woman and I really liked it anyway. I’ve already relistened which is the first album on this list to do that.
Four stars.
Liked last two songs with no lyrics the best. Ok shoe gazer music which was never my favourite. But overall was ok.
3.5 stars
Does anyone really know what time it is?
This is definitely a band. Interesting.
3.5 stars
Maybe the last song was interesting.
Not bad but not for me.
2.5
This was not my band in the late 90s early 2000s and I’m still not a fan. It’s not bad. Just makes me irritated. I don’t enjoy it.
3 stars for nostalgia
I had too much to dream last night and About a quarter to none were my favourites.
The first mostly enjoyable album since Kendrick.
4 stars.
I already know I’m not a clash fan. I did not enjoy this one
It’s a good album. Not my top as I’ve never been a big Pulp fan.
3.5 stars
I like this album a lot but it is hard to listen to all the homophobia and Kim is brutal.
That said, I have so much nostalgia on this one I have to go with a 4. Stan is still one of my favourites.
This reminded me a lot of the Dead Kennedys. Not awful. I probably won’t go back. The cover songs were the most memorable
Interesting. Not going to be a replay but as expected. Compared to some of the albums on this list I give this 3 stars. If you like metal you’ll like this.
3.5 stars.
Dinner making music. If I made dinner.
Enjoy the nostalgia of this. Feels like a less stressful era and reminds me of some great movies too. It’s almost my first 5 star. Almost. 4.5.
Never been a wu tang fan. Boring. I think the individuals are better than the whole.
One good song.
1.5 stars
I haven’t listened to this album in forever. Going back there are some lesser known tracks that I forgot I loved.
Only skipped one song so this is my first five star!
I own this cd but haven’t listened to it in probably 25 years. Running up that hill and Could busting are favourites. She’s always had a different sound, pretty and haunting.
Not on this album, Wuthering Heights should be checked out if you liked this.
3.5 stars. Rounding up for this one.
This was surprising to me as I actually never listened to this album despite the rave reviews it had when it came out.
Realizing nothing has changed since 1988 and all these songs are just as relevant now is depressing.
This isn’t an album I’m likely to put on much if ever but I definitely appreciate its value on this list unlike many other records here. For that it’s 4 stars.
I tried. It sounds like mediocre Led Zeppelin to my ears. It’s not for me.
This was old but new. I liked it. Apparently I already knew the song Alright but never knew the band. Going with a 3.5 stars.
Classic Christmas music. However I don’t think I want a gift from Phil Spector. 4 musically.
There were not as many standouts as I thought. 3 stars
Good album. I probably haven’t listened to this album all the way through in a very long time.
2.5 stars. I love her voice however I’ve never been drawn to listen to her overall. This album wasn’t didn’t have the pull of some of her other songs and became background music.
All these albums are fine. Not my taste.
Interesting album and I’ve never heard of this band. 3.5 rounded up this time.
While this isn’t my normal taste I enjoyed the album.
I don’t know what this band is trying to be but I don’t enjoy it. 2 stars because of Scooby Snacks but that’s only for nostalgia. It’s not a good song.
Good songs on here. Not sure the album is one worth listening to the whole thing though.
3.5 stars
This one isn’t really a question.
This one didn’t inspire me at all and I love Rumours.
This just felt bland.
The album has some good songs bur De Stijl is the record to listen to all the way through.
3.5
I haven’t listened to Common before. . It’s not bad. 3.5 stars
Good but the best song is Blueberry Hill. Enjoyable to listen to.
Well knowing the backstory and also that the first 8 songs are written for children and the last 3 for adults I was expecting something sad.
And it is very gloomy. Feels like it should be a soundtrack for a dystopian film or Labyrinth.
After a week of albums no one should have to listen to ever, this is the light to keep me going in this project.
This was when Radiohead started to get really interesting. Had this album since its release. No surprise this is a 5 star for me.
Listening notes: Lame and annoying. Boring. Not inspiring.
I guess there is a reason I’ve never heard of this band, ever. And I like Pharrell, so good for him that he escaped this mess.
I was never a fan of this genre
Offspring
Green Day
Blink 182
Sum 41
But you couldn’t get away from it in the late 90s. Some songs are good. Some are just yelling and the same. I don’t feel better for hearing this today.
3 for the good songs.
Ok. Nothing spectacular. 2 stars.
Enjoyable album. Lots of great songs. Gets a little long at the end.
4
An album I own and forgot how good it is start to finish.
Started out good. Enjoyed hearing Grandpa sing along.
While I know a lot of these songs I’ve never listened to this album in its entirety. It’s still so relevant today - unfortunately. Great album, some songs go on a bit long so 4.5 stars rounded up in this case.
One of my favourite Christmas Songs. But I’m not up for a whole album. I loved some, got bored some, sang along to some. My husband left the house to find a pub.
It’s an adventure.
More enjoyable than most albums on this list. So rounding 3.5 up.
Enjoyable. But a little long.
Wonderful and wonderfully too long.
I listened until I needed to change
I likeJoni, but this album wasn’t a standout. Nice background music.
Running out of patience for some of these albums that I don’t know why I must listen to.
Always happy for an enjoyable album on this list.
Ok. I did not love it but I was hoping to enjoy it more frankly. Some of the reviews say Ray Davies is a better writer than the Beatles. I disagree. At least on this album.
3 stars as I lost interest
Somewhere between 3 and 4. Like most albums the whole is not as good as some of the parts. I will round up this time.
I have never liked dinosaur jr.
I still do not like dinosaur jr.
Listening to this while working on the weekend made everything worse.
No.
I do not like dinosaur jr.
1 star for the Cure cover.
1 star because they aren’t as bad as some other bands.
1 star because they shouldn’t be punished for me listening while working on the weekend.
I can see why this album
Is on this list, unlike many others in this 1001. However it’s not for me.
Surprisingly I still don’t enjoy this genre or Bruce.
2 stars
I gave 4 stars to the other Eminem album. This one’s a hard pass.
This was thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. A mix of styles and time.
While I love some of the songs here, the album as a whole isn’t a full listen.
Maybe if it wasn’t the same vocal over all the music. I had to DNF for my sanity.
I’m at the point, almost 100 albums in, anything I enjoy listening to and don’t swear, skip a boring song, is getting a 5.
Now I know what to play when I can’t sleep.
I saw this genre and was excited but way too poppy and sweet and boring.
This was ok and not ok. Not my style. But I can see how some would enjoy this.
This was a good surprise. I have never heard of them before. Perfect for my work mix.
I own this album and apparently never flip it over. The first side is amazing. The second falls slightly flat.
4 stars.
People either love or hate the Smiths. I’m in the first camp.
Shaking my head. Not good.
Really surprised I’ve never heard of this album or any of the songs. Finally a nice surprise on this list.
Fun album. Lots of classics.
This was my first concert at 13. August 1989 at the CNE. Amazing show with three encores.
The songs can run a little long but it’s a great album.
Tom. Being Tom.
As I expected.
Sad album. He even makes the more upbeat songs sad.
Great album. Just a few songs short of a five.
Some big songs here with Summertime and Piece of my Heart. But lost interest as it went on.
3.5
Ok. The Message is the only song I know or would relisten to. Album is not available on Apple but I found it on you tube.
2.5?
Not terrible. Just terribly boring.
Well yeah. Some good beats and if I don’t listen to the words it’s a three. Lyrics are just too painful.
Never heard of this band. Which is usually a bad sign. But this was enjoyable enough.
This is not bad. But it is also not very interesting.
2.5
Another ok album.
Another not my style.
A bit of this and a bit of that. Ok mostly.
3 stars
No question.
However make sure you listen to the 13 track version. There is an 11 track that is missing Elephant Stone and Fools Gold. I went to check my CD to verify the original playlist.
Ok. Not any standouts to me.
Who knew there was so much Just Ok albums out there.
4 stars. Better then expected
Ok. Another ok album to make sure I haven’t missed any ok albums before I die.
Going down to 2 for the last Song.
Some good songs here. 3.5
