1001 Albums Summary

We saw them live at the Phoenix Concert hall in Feb 2004. The night before we went to cayman for the first time. They are a great live band.

Liked this album a lot. Great dinner music or hanging by the dock.

Being generous. This was not an album for me but I wouldn’t hate it if it was on in the background of a busy restaurant

No a fan of disco in general and this doesn’t seem the best of it. One star for their hit Le Freak.

Go cry on someone else’s shoulder is a gem. Definitely weird, sometimes funny but probably not going to be played by me again.

Tightrope Deep cotton songs ok Not my type of music in general

Ok. Not for me. 3 stars. I also don’t love David Bowie.

Could be work music. Not totally my music.

Not surprisingly I don’t like my music to contain certain words ( yeah looking at you P and N words). But this album wasn’t written for an old white suburban woman and I really liked it anyway. I’ve already relistened which is the first album on this list to do that. Four stars.

Liked last two songs with no lyrics the best. Ok shoe gazer music which was never my favourite. But overall was ok. 3.5 stars

This was not my band in the late 90s early 2000s and I’m still not a fan. It’s not bad. Just makes me irritated. I don’t enjoy it. 3 stars for nostalgia

I had too much to dream last night and About a quarter to none were my favourites. The first mostly enjoyable album since Kendrick. 4 stars.

I like this album a lot but it is hard to listen to all the homophobia and Kim is brutal. That said, I have so much nostalgia on this one I have to go with a 4. Stan is still one of my favourites.

This reminded me a lot of the Dead Kennedys. Not awful. I probably won’t go back. The cover songs were the most memorable

Interesting. Not going to be a replay but as expected. Compared to some of the albums on this list I give this 3 stars. If you like metal you’ll like this.

Enjoy the nostalgia of this. Feels like a less stressful era and reminds me of some great movies too. It’s almost my first 5 star. Almost. 4.5.

Never been a wu tang fan. Boring. I think the individuals are better than the whole. One good song. 1.5 stars

I haven’t listened to this album in forever. Going back there are some lesser known tracks that I forgot I loved. Only skipped one song so this is my first five star!

I own this cd but haven’t listened to it in probably 25 years. Running up that hill and Could busting are favourites. She’s always had a different sound, pretty and haunting. Not on this album, Wuthering Heights should be checked out if you liked this. 3.5 stars. Rounding up for this one.

This was surprising to me as I actually never listened to this album despite the rave reviews it had when it came out. Realizing nothing has changed since 1988 and all these songs are just as relevant now is depressing. This isn’t an album I’m likely to put on much if ever but I definitely appreciate its value on this list unlike many other records here. For that it’s 4 stars.

I tried. It sounds like mediocre Led Zeppelin to my ears. It’s not for me.

This was old but new. I liked it. Apparently I already knew the song Alright but never knew the band. Going with a 3.5 stars.

Classic Christmas music. However I don’t think I want a gift from Phil Spector. 4 musically.

2.5 stars. I love her voice however I’ve never been drawn to listen to her overall. This album wasn’t didn’t have the pull of some of her other songs and became background music.

I don’t know what this band is trying to be but I don’t enjoy it. 2 stars because of Scooby Snacks but that’s only for nostalgia. It’s not a good song.

Good but the best song is Blueberry Hill. Enjoyable to listen to.

Well knowing the backstory and also that the first 8 songs are written for children and the last 3 for adults I was expecting something sad. And it is very gloomy. Feels like it should be a soundtrack for a dystopian film or Labyrinth.

After a week of albums no one should have to listen to ever, this is the light to keep me going in this project.

This was when Radiohead started to get really interesting. Had this album since its release. No surprise this is a 5 star for me.

Listening notes: Lame and annoying. Boring. Not inspiring. I guess there is a reason I’ve never heard of this band, ever. And I like Pharrell, so good for him that he escaped this mess.

I was never a fan of this genre Offspring Green Day Blink 182 Sum 41 But you couldn’t get away from it in the late 90s. Some songs are good. Some are just yelling and the same. I don’t feel better for hearing this today. 3 for the good songs.

An album I own and forgot how good it is start to finish.

Started out good. Enjoyed hearing Grandpa sing along.

While I know a lot of these songs I’ve never listened to this album in its entirety. It’s still so relevant today - unfortunately. Great album, some songs go on a bit long so 4.5 stars rounded up in this case.

One of my favourite Christmas Songs. But I’m not up for a whole album. I loved some, got bored some, sang along to some. My husband left the house to find a pub. It’s an adventure.

Somewhere between 3 and 4. Like most albums the whole is not as good as some of the parts. I will round up this time.

I have never liked dinosaur jr. I still do not like dinosaur jr. Listening to this while working on the weekend made everything worse. No. I do not like dinosaur jr. 1 star for the Cure cover. 1 star because they aren’t as bad as some other bands. 1 star because they shouldn’t be punished for me listening while working on the weekend.

I can see why this album Is on this list, unlike many others in this 1001. However it’s not for me.

I gave 4 stars to the other Eminem album. This one’s a hard pass.

This was thoroughly enjoyable to listen to. A mix of styles and time.

While I love some of the songs here, the album as a whole isn’t a full listen.

I’m at the point, almost 100 albums in, anything I enjoy listening to and don’t swear, skip a boring song, is getting a 5.

Now I know what to play when I can’t sleep. I saw this genre and was excited but way too poppy and sweet and boring.

This was my first concert at 13. August 1989 at the CNE. Amazing show with three encores. The songs can run a little long but it’s a great album.

Probably the last chili pepper album I would listen to start to finish. So many good songs, some mediocre and one overplayed never need to hear in my life again song (under the bridge) I preferred this version of the band and lost interest as they became more poppy. 5 stars but lowering it for Anthony’s questionable choices.

Something not quite anything I can put my finger on. Pulp. Musical theatre. Shakespeare. Slimy men. One review said it’s a calling out of Casanova. It’s so weird. I can’t look away. And I will never listen again.
