Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg

As a french person, I must say I'm deeply ashamed of Gainsbourg being an ambassador of our culture. Being provocative is OK, but this alcoholic piece of garbage pushed things way too far. An album about pedophilia (even if some might say that the 70's were a different time, since he had a relationship with a minor in the 80's, this excuse can't stand), singing about incest (Lemon Incest if you are curious), drunkenly harassing women on live TV. He's still regarded as a major figure of the french music, has places/parks named after him, and his talentless daughter still carries his name (nepotism at its finest). The compositions on this album are good, enjoyable, and deserve 4 stars, but the lyrics are way too awful. Hearing some drunkard talking/"singing" about fucking a minor just makes me want to slap in the face any asshole defending this guy in the name of "art". If you want some french music from this era, please listen to Django Reinhardt, Georges Brassens, Edith Piaf ; Jacques Brel is already on the list. A lot of artists have been cancelled for less, and I can't understand how this didn't happen to him. Anyway, sorry for the rant, but I couldn't stay silent :)
