What a strange ass album. Grateful that Borno sent me down the path to listen to his congressional hearing on parental advisory music. Additionally, Linc Dawg showed me one of this better songs: Watermelon in Easter Hay

5-Star Albums (25)

Not. Really...into it :?
I was always kind of anti-Janes Addiction. This was a pretty decent album, I will admit.
Sometimes you just get those albums that stop you in your tracks. This reminded me of counting crows and I could sense a few other influences. Just what I needed yesterday.

All Ratings
The start of this album feels NOT very Queeny. Killer Queen might be the only song I know on this album. I suppose this album is surfacing to me that I don't know Queen all that well! Super interesting and unexpected album.
Nice coming off of the Queen album onto this. A handful of recognizable tracks compared to the single Queen track. I think this is a fairly listenable album. My gripe with something like this album is this: it feels like they are really trying to go hard vs. ACTUALLY being hard.
Queen to Bon Jovi to Queen? Worried that I am going to get over-Queened. Half a track in and I am already feeling that this is much Queenier ;). This Queen album is wildly better than Sheer Heart Attack. Crazy that these were put out the same year. This one is loosing steam for me. I liked the album to start and it started to fall off for me.
Yes! Listening to the first track now and thinking about the hip hop songs that have sampled this. This is a jammy album. I could throw this on and groove. Okay, now they are getting a bit excessive.
At first I was surprised to see this one. Now, I am good with it. Will be my highest rated album thus far because it definitely was a piece of my youth.
Fire! But also a little jammy
Shoot, my rating didn't take. I had hesitations coming into this album. I remember making fun of my mom with my dad singing Joni Mitchell. It was listenable, but not tremendously enjoyable.
Anger in an album. It was revolutionary at the time. Great workout album. Love that I can picture the matrix when wakeup comes on. FREEDOM!!! YEAHHHHHHHHH RIGHHHTTTTT
This fucks!
Reminds me of 500 days of summer...mmmmm Zoey
Fell in love with a girl is a JAM! I used to vilify this album because I thought it was too popular. I will admit that it is pretty good.
Yessss! I loved this album when it came out. It is so interesting how albums are associated with memories. This album (particularly the Lazarus song) is haunting because it came out 2 days before he died. From what I remember learning about this album is that he knew he was at the end when he recorded these songs. I always take this album in from the perspective of a dying man. Lazarus carries this album from a 2 to a 3 for me.
Thought I would like this album a lot. It was just kind of meh.
I think I went into this album with a pretty negative attitude about getting two Velvet Underground albums in a row. I was not pumped on yesterdays album and I think I like this one even less.
Interesting. Feels like the precursor to Daft Punk. Less refined, but certainly glimpses in there.
What a strange ass album. Grateful that Borno sent me down the path to listen to his congressional hearing on parental advisory music. Additionally, Linc Dawg showed me one of this better songs: Watermelon in Easter Hay
Poor mans David Bowie + Depeche Mode + The Cure? Don't love it.
I think it was fine. Didn't get through the whole album, but not offensive.
This album/Muddy Waters has a vibe! This album feels like NOLA to me (musically prolific, full of emotions, full of an energy).
Hard to argue with the boss! Not super familiar with this album, and it was pretty solid. Glad this was on the list on a Friday. Very listenable.
This is a 4.4. Going to have to round down because of the skits and because some of the non-hits don't strike me as hard as the hits do.
I suppose I am not sure why this album makes it over Out of Time or Automatic for the People.
What are we doing here? What album did this knock out? Whos man is this?
Could it be the first 5? Am I rating things based on nostalgia vs. quality? Maybe.
I of course love Once ina Lifetime, but the rest of the album was just kind of okay to me.
Is Exodus the only track that I actually know on this album? Ohhhhh we jamming! What are the first 4 tracks of this? Everything after that is FIRE!
Effectively the bridge between the B52s and NIN. What are we doing here? If I never heard this again that would be indication of a life well led.
Awesome album! Didn’t get through a lot of it.
Haters weren’t into it, but I think I liked it
No hits! What’s up?
When someone great is gone!!!
Not great, wouldn’t listen again
Haven’t listened yet, but I will on this drive!
I find myself getting upset when the hits I like from people on this list aren’t on the albums :/
Smoking extreme spinach!
I have always been pretty neutral on Bobby D. Listenable but not necessarily enjoyable from my seat.
So funny how we view these albums through the lens of what memories they trigger. I am rating this album well because there are so many songs that I recognize and have solid memories of.
Love and remember the beer fondly. I can say that there is a lot of talent on this album, but I am not going to seek it out necessarily because it is more of technical listen than I typically enjoy.
2Pac is an interesting one for me. I feel like I SHOULD like him more than I do. Coming off of Thelonius, it is a weirdly similar feeling in the sense that I know I should appreciate him more. Still pumped on listening to this one today.
God, I saw the Violent Femmes live right before covid. It was not an enjoyable show. Outside of blister in the sun, I feel like they are kind of a hard listen. Okay, Kiss Off is grreat too. I am eating my words, this whole album is pretty dank. I think a live version of ~50/60 somethings singing this stuff is just lost on ya boy.
I feel like this album is a good album, but I am expecting a Bob Marley album and it fell short of the one we listened to a few weeks ago. The story behind how this album came to be was interesting though :)
Listenable. Not the best album, but not the worst.
I feel like there are 10 more albums that came out in 2004 that are exponentially better than this one. What are we doing here? I spoke too soon. It is an okay album. Liking it better than the temptations yesterday.
What in the world?
Criminal makes this album go from 2 to 3
I thought I would love this more. Maps really makes this, huh?
I think the quote on the first song that really stuck with me: It kills me to think, that I'm no longer living just looking for excuses to drink. It hits especially hard coming off of a bender from this past weekend.
Yoshimi and Do You Realize are fantastic. Most of the Flaming Lips stuff is so weird. This is no exception. I saw them live in my early 20s and thought it was one of the strangest shows I have ever seen.
Am I really embarking in a 2 + hour album today? Here goes! Yeah, I got through the first album of this double disc'n. I am done here.
Not going to seek it out again. Getting a better understanding of why folks rate these things the way that they do (legacy over quality sometimes).
Whose that lady?! Listenable. Baby making music for sure!
Somewhat unlistenable for me. I get that this kicked off shoegaze, but man it was a lot of noise.
It was fine. I thought it felt a bit jokey.
There are simply some albums that I won't understand the reason they made the list. This is one of those albums.
Let the good tunes roll! This is a banger of an album. That is all.
Tribe is awesome...but I am a bigger fan of other albums. I left my wallet in el segundo and can I kick it are the clear winners of this album. You know, I think I was just put off by the first long song on this album, it is actually better than I was originally thinking.
Not sure what this was, but I knew my uncle CK was a fan for some reason. For me...this ain't it!
Meatpuppets Mudhoney, what will they come up with next?
A strange welcomed change from the other stuff we have been hearing. Y'all make it to the end of the album? What?!
The perfect album does not exi... What a treat of an album to tap into on a Friday. It is effectively a Led Zeppelin greatest hits album if you ask me.
This (candidly any) album is tough to jump to after letting the Led out. I would appreciate it more if it were on the heels of a crappy album.
Not what I expected. Good working music.
I mean, I get it!
Christmas sounds like the Beatles! This album is just a bit too meandery for me. All songs sound like a derivative of the pinball wizard. I am kind of over this one.
A little intense for a Friday at 8 AM. Also, I have a coworker that has hitched his entire identity to Metallica...he kind of sucks so I am not really listening through an objective lens.
The highs are high enough that it deserves a 4.
Quite the departure from yesterday. We will see how much of this I can get through. Made it through the first album. Whatever.
I am into it. Had no idea this was a concept album. Okay. I think I can only handle like 4 consecutive Jethro Tull songs.
Its kind of a confusing album, huh?
The marketing genius of this album is so sick!
Couldn't take all of the sad yesterday. It was an okay album.
Where are my boss hits on this one? Okay, reading what it was in response to made me appreciate more.
Not my cup of tea, but the story makes it more palpable.
I get so excited when I know the first two songs and then so bummed when I don’t know the rest. Boosting it up because of the story in 1,001 albums
A classic. Hard not to like Aretha! Shaped my date night music on Friday night.
The highs were high. Good enough album.
Not for me. I suppose I see a version of the world that is clubbing to this stuff.
story makes it cooler
Still need to read the stuff about this
Interesting album. I was more excited for it before devouring the whole thing. Still really solid.
The description in the book made me like it a bit more. However, fight the power might be one of the only listenable track on here.
Really really enjoyed this. Should maybe be 5
Still need to read the description. Didn’t love
I suppose this style needs to be represented. Isn’t necessarily for me, but I still respect it.
It is a fine enough album is what I will say. I like that they call out in the write up that they are a "nature band"
I didn't realize the Allman bros were so jammy! I didn't love this album, but I certainly loved the story on how it came to be.
Going to say the first two songs were great. Not as interested after that.
I dare say pleasant
Some albums are just a mystery to me as to why they made it into the list.
First couple tracks were bangers! Then it kind of fell off for me personally.
Found myself skipping through a lot of this album. I miss my book so I can read why these are so important.
Not a fan. I am sure when I read the write up my opinion might change.
Acceptable, not exceptional.
Not a Suzanne Vega fan sans Tom Diner I guess...
I know that folks have a hard on for Jack White. I think he is fine...that is all
It is a nice sensual album, but hard not to compare it to whats going on. Like that it was made for love.
Not bad. I actually think it increased my likeness for Elvis.
A little haunting. I don't know what to say on this one actually.
Severely not a fan!
Felt almost really familiar. I was impressed.
The bangers bang hard on this one. The backstory on this album too is clutch!
What a great album. I have no complaints.
The bangers really carried this album in my opinion.
A little TOO much gangsta for this sensitive soul ;)
Pleasant/chill album. A few songs that I have revisited since listening.
Solid album! I think that I am a fan. I can't imagine what the world was like when this came out.
This album hit SO GOOD for me yesterday.
They are highlighting this as the album that everything fell apart. Why profile it then? Maybe into dig for fire.
The highs are high enough on this album that it makes up for some of the skits and dumb stuff on there.
Meant to snag a picture of who this influenced and send it to Jesser. Cool album with a good amount of notable inspirations for other bands to come.
The hits on this one rip. I am excited to read about that one when I am back near my book :)
This is the second Robert Wyatt album that has appeared on this list. Not sure who is selecting this weirdness to be part of this list, but here we are. Fell asleep listening to this one.
Feels like the Flaming Lips want to be this band.
Some albums I just need to see the write up of why it makes it into this list...
Hmmmmm how do I want to rate this one. Perfect Day, Walk on the Wild Side and Satellite of Love are such fantastic jams. Otherwise I am kind of neutral on this album.
Take Five is so recognizable, but I am not sure from what...nice Monday morning work music.
Mids. Just mids.
I have had the debate for years if it is this album or her first album is better. Both are so fire.
Very neutral. Not bad or good
Really actually pretty pleasant.
Anxious to read why this one made it. I am looking for the hits, but none in sight.
Listenable. Good background music.
What are these noises? Why?
Just...weird!
Is this a 5 star album on it's own? Probably not. Is it a 5 star album because it was pivotal in my upbringing? Absolutely.
Definitely going to need to see the write up on this one. Can't say I am tremendously into it.
Can't say that I was terribly into this one...
Another one of those "what are we doing heres"
I go out of town once and I miss a banger like What's Going On?!
Could be edited down a bit, but great album nonetheless.
Kind of like a poor mans Beattles...except with weirdly more pedo vibes.
I understand why it makes the list. Doesn't mean that I have to enjoy it.
Can't find the write up in either book :(
Really liked it more than I thought I would. Neil has been in my life a bit more recently for whatever reason.
Pretty deep and sad album!
I heard a few bands being inspired in there. Thought it was okay.
Knowing this was so inspired by the Beattles and how it came about boosted my rating.
Pretty damn good. I like Rod Stewart as a rocker.
Surprised at how much I like this album.
A few bangers but wasn't all THAT impressed overall.
Mmmmmm nore of a New Order guy. Did like the piece of the write up that talked about how this was an album one would listen to right before committing suicide! Dark.
A little jarring and a little much, but really liked the origin story in the book.
Surprisingly decent.
It was pretty decent. The super long tracks were a little frustrating, but still happy I listened.
Damn good album.
Enjoyed thuro!
Less hits than I thought, but still great.
Great album! Just what I needed that day.
The bangers bang hard. I wish I could read about why this one made it.
What a fantastic album.
Decent. Made me revisit some Wu Tang :)
I want to give this album a 5 because it is awesome...but I can't put it in the same category as the all time greats. 4.4
Felt like the precursor to Jurassic 5 which I was very into.
Outside of No Cars Go this album preceeded my fandom.
Nothing that is really catching my ear in particular.
Fell off after Girl from Eboneba
Crazy to hear the Phil Spector story!
I suppose I can appreciate from a, "where the sample craze started", but for the most part...nah.
Great album interesting to read about all of the differences in there.
Good! The highs were definitely high :)
This one probably shouldn't be on the list.
You can't appreciate somewhat bad music until you hear REALLY crappy music like Birthday Party. There were a few headbangers on this one.
Pretty unlistenable for this guy.
Never have been a white stripes type of fella.
Fine. It was fine.
Everything….in its right place.
I suppose the "I'm loving angels instead" song was a surprise to me that that one is him. I am not sure how I feel about this album in all honesty.
I suppose I am still confused how this made the list, but whatever.
Shockingly good!
Geeze, listening to this album is taking me back to seeing them at the Sphere and crying like a baby during With or Without you. Miss you Dad!
Kind of odd, but whatever.
I mean....I get it. I am fine with this being on the list. I would be fine if it wasn't on the list. Switzerland over here.
A little whiny, but here we are.
Fun to read WHY this album matters at all. Lots of racial cross over
I'll send an SOS to the world! I can confidently say this is an album that truly belongs here.
This album is objectively not a 4, but it was pivotal in my upbringing.
There are some bangers on this album. Have always been more of a fan of AM, but this one deserves more credit than I was giving.
A little meandery, but not bad.
What a great week in music! This album was maybe a 3.5 for me, but I am feeling generous and we are rounding up.
Some bangers on this one!
I wanted to like it more. The highs are high with The Smiths...lows are pretty low though.
Good journaling tunes, but not really following it otherwise.
Going to need to read about this one to really appreciate it.
I thought I was going to like this more...however, there is A LOT of weird on here. Gotta give it a solid 3.5
Not bad. Cool to see the running up that hill resurgance over the last few years thanks to Stranger Things.
Surprising! Really decent album. I had never heard of these folks.
Surprisingly pleasant, actually.
WIld journaling music!
I suppose I can appreciate it for what it was and why it was on the list, but was pumped to have some Beatles bangers on a Friday and was disappointed with what I got :/
Not sure why I like this so much. Found out my mom listened to this record so much that she actually destroyed it. Perhaps it is generational.
I truly don't know how I feel about this album.
I think I understand the Yoko breaking up the Beatles sentiment now.
What an odd collection. Interesting to read the why behind it though.
Surprised by a few bangers. But the album overall...mids.
Gutsy to be doing something so avant garde. Lotta respect for these guys. They shaped hip hop as we know it.
Fun to talk with Kevin Peaslee on this one. Good stuff.
What are we doing here? The fact that this nixed another album off of the list is so maddening to me.
I wish the tracks were separated out. It would have been a 4 star with that.
So pumped on it I had to find a peloton class with some Curtis Mayfield.
Decent. I know that this album was much more influential than I am giving it credit for, but I just wasn't feeling it necessarily.
Good background music. Need to read why this one made it.
Didn't love...
Just not...into it.
I feel like I am getting more critical. I did target a Deep Purple themed peloton ride after this one.
Haven't given a 5 in a while. This one is just about a flawless album. Also...Stevie Nicks went to Skyline sooooo you gotta support.
I want to go 4, but it is just shy of that. I bet Mikey is going to rate this well.
This was a tough one to get through.
Awesome walking around tunes for FtL
Iconic for my youth
Need to read more on this one! I love the seed.
I’m going 4.4 on this one! Solid ass album.
Better than her other album on this list! Was a son of a preacher man!
Soundtrack of a few of my high school/jr high years.
Great ass album!
Virtually unlistenable in my mind.
Liked this more than I thought I would.
Outside of that one hit, this wasn't sitting with me well yesterday for whatever reason.
Didn't mind the listen and also didn't mind the tracks that popped up after.
Listenable! Inspired Straylight Run and Connor Oberst, no doubt!
Time of the season!!
Just what I needed!
It was very superstitious...kidding! Great album you could hear a young and lovestruck Stevie pretty well on there.
They say it takes a couple listens...call me impatient.
I don't want another ambient album. I wanna rock!
We are due for a good album. C'mon algo!
Got to listen to this while working on The Lagerithm and chatting with my love. It was nice.
I suppose fine. I want some of the James Brown hits. Cool to read the story of how it came about.
I am going 3.5 on this bad boy. Can't quite push it to a 4 but I was pleasantly surprised on it.
Albums like this that nix another great album from being on the list are really maddening to me.
I wanted more hits. Otherwise…SOLID
Not bad. Similar to the Jay Z album, I was hoping for more recognizable stuff to me.
Not my favorite Bowie album.
I think I liked this more than I thought I would!
The highs are high! Otherwise, it is relatively listenable.
Definitely heard the sounds of funk. I can see how this was the foundation.
Feels like a lifetime ago that I listened to this!
Interesting listen knowing that the creator wanted to basically capture his childhood into music.
Reminds me of CK. I didn't hate this album.
I find it weird to celebrate these albums that were like, "this band was about to breakup. They were fueding and this is what they created. It isn't that good but it was the last one." really don't like that great music is being pushed out because of stuff like this.
The highs on this album are all time!
2 albums in a row that really got me excited. Can we make it three?!
I desperately want to give this a 5...but there are one or two throw away tracks and Kanye is also just one that I can say is a primo individual.
Really interesting reading this fellows story. I thought the album was okay. The story was better.
Not quite sure on that one...
Why did this make the list though?
Fine. Interesting backstory I suppose.
I am really surprised only one Carpenters album is on here.
This is a coldddd war, you better know what you're fighting for. I like a handful of tracks enough to bump this rating up.
I know that I should appreciate this more, but alas...here we are.
Maybe a little left of neutral.
It is a good album. Mom enjoyed singing it too.
Uhhhh this was all fine and good until Jeremy Bender came on. WTF kind of song was that?
Meh. T'was okay I suppose. I like the comp of Rolling Stones in drag.
Crazy that this was the breakout for Janis Joplin. Would have been cool to see this one stick together.
Swear I listened to this one. But good one to run back
Interesting listen as I was hiking up a new mountain
I really enjoyed this. Myriad of different styles and textures in one album.
Idioteque is an undercelebrated song. The album art inspo is so eerie.
I guess I would maybe say unremarkable...? Not unlistenable, but pretty unmemorable.
Not sure why, but I have never really been a Paul Simon fan.
I am going to have to read why this made it.
I think my dad was a fan. I had a hard time getting into Merle...
The hell?
Not what I was expecting. But still pretty listenable.
Makes me think of Dad.
Not my brand.
I am tempted to give this a 4 because I was so pleasantly surprised.
Fine. Listenable. Not as edgy quite yet.
Lucky Man and Bittersuite Symphony are pretty damn impressive songs.
Nice to get the Led out from time to time.
Fine. Nothing revolutionary here.
One of the greatest! Excellent album
Eerie that this was the album yesterday after Brian Wilsons passing.
Mids. No complaints, no big highlights for me
You know, for this being the cover...I would have expected more. But alas, here we are.
It's a classic! I get it.
Why is this a top album? I even like Belle and Seabass, and I am kind of disappointed in this one.
Great album
Does heads will roll pick this up to a 4? I think maybe not.
Find
I should have paid it more attention. I didn't mind it but it was background noise for the most part.
THE BACKSTORY ON THIS ALBUM THOUGH!!!!
Great features! Excited to read up on this one.
Maybe I’m weird but….nah
Am I not a Metallica guy? I can appreciate the talent, but man...not my style.
Pretty middle of the road for me.
Poor man’s Bowie?
Not as great as I was hoping, but here we are.
This was surprisingly awesome
I love wake up! Great song. But I don't know that this album deserves to be on there outside of that song. Perhaps rebellion as well?
What are we doing here? Sincerely.
Exceptionally depressing!
Solid ass album!
Reminds me of my youth!
Great surprising album
Was surprised at how much I liked this album!
I was kind of neutral on it.
Listenable, sad story though
Great album! Skits tho :(
It's special! So special.
Not my style per se.
Long live Ozzy
Not really for me.
Pretty damn good album
The write up maybe kicked this to a 5 for me.
What the hell? What the helly?
One of those rare albums where the back half makes it special...not the front.
Can I givethis a -10 perchance? What is this doing here?
Listened whilst running!
Pretty pretty solid!
It was fine
Too meandery!
Pretty good for the oldies!
The highs are high enough on this album. Surprised it isn't in my book
Not for me :/
Listenable, not all that offensive.
It was...goodish. Close to a 4 for me
teetering between a 4 and a 5. Should maybe be a 5. I am going to push it to a 5
Another teeterer between 4 and 5
Cool how it was made/the tribute to them
This was torture
Great album!
I think I got served two 5s in a row...dare we make it 3?
What a strange series of sounds.
Not the best Kanye. It is serviceable, but not stellar.
Solid!
Not my scene
Not. Really...into it :?
Didn't love the N word, but I always dig a concept album. Conflicted on this score.
Surprisingly good.
pretty great album
Won't be targeting that album again.
I want to say 5 but my personal listening experience wasn’t ideal
Lotta noises on this one.
Great one!
Kind of neutral on the album. Pretty jazzed on the story though!
I wasn't offended! Crazy mix of humanity there.
I want to give this a 5, but I just can't
Nah. Not the greatest.
A little chaotic. I can recognize the talent, but not my jam per se.
Really solid. I wish I had time to listen to the full thing.
I wasn't mad at it, I wouldn't turn it off, but I wouldn't willingly seek it out.
Why are we here?
Giong middle of the road. Mostly as a nod to CK.
I wish I was sophisticated enough to understand why this is a top album at all.
This album kind of meanders. Otherwise, the highs are exceptionally high!
Had to listen to this AND Bjork yesterday. Not my finest musical day.
Not unlistenable, but you know...not...seeking it out?
Unlistenable.
Fine Monday morning tunes.
Todays Tom Sawyer...mean mean pride!
Castles made of sand fall back in the sea...eventually.
The highs are so high on this album
What an awesome way to end the week.
Listenable! Not my genre perse
Great album! Even better knowing what was going on in his life at the time.
Middle of the road. Didn't hate but didn't love
Elvis Costello has always been intriguing to me...I don't know why.
Pleasant little Friday listen.
I will give it up! I understand why my mom was a fan.
I was always kind of anti-Janes Addiction. This was a pretty decent album, I will admit.
Surprisingly quite enjoyed this.
Won't seek it out again, but wasn't terribly upset by it.
Gotta get the Led out from time to time. Great way to end the week.
Pleasant durprise
I was always kind of scared of Marilyn Manson. I wouldn't say this was a pleasant experience, but I also wouldn't say it was insufferable. Sometimes you gotta lean into your antichrist ways.
Who is this artist and why?
It was okay. I oddly like the new Cure album more.
Where the hale is my mind
Never been a sonic youther :/
Fine. Listenable I suppose.
This album reminds me of graduating college and trying to figure out my life. I travelled to see them in SoCal once. Love beach house to an uncomfortable degree.
Optimal listening for a Friday afternoon. I miss chatting with my pal, Kelly about these tunes :/
Hard to separate the art from the artist. Fantastic album, but bringing it down a notch because of what he may have done to kids.
Skits man! I would rate it higher if it wasn't for skits.
That opening song can only take you so far.
Who is all making up this band? Is this a super group?
I have seen all good people turn their heads...;) it was an okay album I suppose.
I found myself comparing to back in black...this was great but black is a notch better.
Let's get weird!
Don't even know if I finished the album. Cool that it only cost $250 to make and only one microphone.
Just what I needed for the day. Was able to crank out some work and have this going in the background.
Kind of a slog to get through to be honest.
Couldn't find the write up on this one. Must have been in an early version of 1,001. Pretty neutral on it. I did find myself checking, "is this over yet?" many times hence the lower rating.
One cocteau twins album is enough for this list. This one was not all that pleasant to me.
Didn't finish it, mostly because it is kind of tough to access.
Annoying when it isn't in the book and you can't really see the reason it came to be.
Not really a Lenny Cohen guy.
None of the last 3 albums have been in my book :(
4 Albums in a row that actually weren't in the 1,001 book. My playlist is incorrect!!
Easy listener!
Unique is what I will say.
It was fine, I suppose.
Having trouble believing this album came from the 60s
It was fine I suppose.
Suffering my way through this one.
What TF was I listening to?
I can certainly tell some of the bands that have been inspired here.
Pleasant. Not what I was expecting, but certainly not bad.
It was too long, but I slogged through.
Unremarkable in my opinion.
Non-white front man for a rock band that crushes. Cool to read about him being on the forefront of that.
Fine. Listenable. didn't hate it.
Kind of not a great christmas eve album?
Pleasant surprise
mmmmmm hmmm bjork hasalways been tough for me.
This wasn't in the book. Still...whatever I suppose?
Fun. I see what this inspired for sure.
Can appreciate what she did for the female rap game.
Didn't realize that they didn't use any equipment past the 70s to capture this record. That is cool to me.
Shockingly really liked this. Definitely set the stage for so many genres.
Mad decent! Wasn't mad at it.
Not unlistenable Neil! I am impressed
Outside of the hit, nothing really jumped out at me. Still a good listenable albume
Just a bit long.
Bumping to 4 because of Dad :) he enjoyed Tina and Private Dancer specifically.
Strange album. Well ahead of its time. It certainly laid the foundation for punk and other genres. Cool cool to see.
Not in the book. Wonder if this hit earlier.
Song 2 might raise this one whole star
Fine. Super fine! Feels like I have lived a lot of life since this album came out.
Great album. Candle in the wind hit me yesterday with it being my dads birthday.
Need to read the write up, but overall I dug it!
Fine. Can't believe this is on here but not beyonce yet!
All the white horses are still in bed!
Will forever sound like running around Mexico City to me.
Not what I was expecting after the name sake.
Need to be reading about these puppies
Smashing pumpkins influence maybe??
Listenable. Wish I had the book so I could read on this one.
Need to get back to reading about these albums. My one complaint on the grateful dead is how meandery it is.
Dang! I do want to give this a higher rating because it was cool seeing them this last year. However, it only got fiery towards the end.
Would normally give this 2 stars, but maybe Common is growing on me? I used to be pretty anti-Common for whatever reason. I think I had a slew of his music downloaded and he would come on on repeat far too often.
Really need to do some reading on this topic. Not a 1,001 album ever created in my humble opinion.
Luckily it was only 15 mins long.
Better than some of the other Eno albums that I have had the pleasure of listening to.
Really nice working music
Weird to highlight an album that is so entrenched in controversy (stolen vibes/types of music?)
I get what it did for the genre but not for me.
Kinky, weird, felt a little gross after listening.
I really want to give this album a 4 star...but I just can't get there.
My ears! My poor ears!
Does Maggie May save this album? Perhaps!
A song or two in there REALLY save it
Noise. Just noise
For his 41st album...this is pretty impressive
The story on the release of this album is crazy!
Great album
Not sure WTF, but it coo
Running music for my final morning in Antigua. Need to read on this one.
Oddly enough, listened to this album AND the new Lala Lala album yesterday. The world works in mysterious ways
Somewhat painful to get through honestly.
I see the foundation being laid!
Truly takes me back to watching Girl Next Door with the homies. More nostalgic than true quality I suppose.
Drunk and rowdy sound. Love that they credited Smirnoff and Carlsburg for the rambunctiousness of the album.
I saw Neil live once and was entirely underwhelmed. I think he has grown on me since that time.
Listenable. I will say listenable.
I always gave Dylan a bad name because of how he sounded. Dude is quite the poet.
Painful. I did not like
Fine. Pushed the envelope for sure.
Nice surprise
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that last song.
Fine background music I suppose
I haven't read about this yet, but I am assuming it is the entrance into lady led punk.
Fine. Recognized the one hit
I have never been a big fan, but this was nice running music yesterday!
Hard not love P McC
The fuck is this?!
Fuck this!
I shouldn’t subject myself to this weird shit.
Not sure what I am listening to these days…
Good stuff actually! Interesting to read about the guy.
I was hoping I could hear the dissent in the audience, but I didn't get that.
It is still the who, but I want to give it a 0
How does one NOT love a little Boston.
Knocking on the door of 4 stars. Really good.
Lotta noise. Not a lotta payoff
Actually quite pleasant
No thank ya Dr. John
This album starts so strong and then chills out a bit. I wish it was way better.
No Rod Stewart bangers on here, but still good!
Really excited to read about this one. Impressive Beyonce.
I think I got through it?
Definitely the inspiration for Bobby Marl
Shocked that this album is on this list.
Why? My ears.
That one hit was helpful!
What a strange album. Going to need to read why this exists.
It was a time...no real opinion.
Fine I suppose. Good working tunes :)
It is a 5er for me. Lots of memories flooding in while I listened to this on my run yesterday morning.
Not unlistenable, but not enjoyable either.
Heavy Metal Drummer is a bop...the rest I feel like I suffer through a bit.
It wasn't in my book...but dayum was it great.
Fun! Druggy
Fine. Not remarkable.
Unremarkable I suppose
Listened while taking the fam around. I think it was....fine.
I hate when there is stuff that I can't read about in here.
Fine I suppose!
Pleasant little surprise!
Good. Almost a 4
No. God no.
I am not sure what I want to say about this...finnneee? I suppose
Found myself bopping a few times, but man...not a big prodigy guy.
I see the influence, but not my music
I didn't get through as much of this as I was hoping. It is okayish.
Anxious to read about this one.
The hit makes the album
Sometimes you just get those albums that stop you in your tracks. This reminded me of counting crows and I could sense a few other influences. Just what I needed yesterday.
Kind of fine. Love that it was grunge before grunge
Wasn't for me yesterday.
Lovely little album. Cat Stevens is a talent.
Don't really have much commentary on this one...
No complaints, just not THAT remarkable.
Brilliant album...
Lovely little album.
