I totally get why this album was on the list, and I definitely agree that it’s worthy of being on the list, but it’s just not for me at all

Fav: Sister Ray
Least Fav: Lady Godiva’s Operation
Similar issue to the previous album but I like this one a little more
Beatles
2/5
Fav: Till There Was You
Least Fav: Little Child
It’s nice to see the early Beatles before they became the groundbreaking band later in their career, but this was mainly forgettable with the exception of a couple songs

Vocals didn’t bug me as much as I expected going into this. This album was almost going to bee a 5/5 but the last 2 tracks were not fly, and they brought it down. Other than that, I was buzzing when the other songs were playing

2/5
Fav: Geno
Least Fav: I Couldn’t Help It If I Tried
The horns were the one saving grace of this, as it would definitely be a 1/5 without them. This album would win a 5/5 on incomprehensible vocals though

Least Fav: Neon Gumbo
This album surprised me, it’s incredibly good and I never got tired of it at all. It’s albums like these that make me glad I do this.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
3/5
Fav: Free Bird
Least Fav: Mississippi Kid
Some nice easy-listening rock music, with Free Bird being the standout song. It wasn’t bad at all but also wasn’t incredible. Regardless, I liked it enough to listen to it again.
Slayer
3/5
Fav: Altar Of Sacrifice
Least Fav: Necrophobic
Haven’t listened to much metal in my life so this was interesting to listen to. I liked it but I felt like it relied on the same tricks and I got kinda bored by the end but I still liked it overall, so it’s worthy of a 3/5 in my eyes.
The Last Shadow Puppets
3/5
Fav: My Mistakes Were Made For You
Least Fav: I Don’t Like You Anymore
I like Alex Turner’s music but I found this to be quite average.
Tom Waits
2/5
Fav: Who Are You
Least Fav: The Ocean Doesn’t Want Me
A very interesting album that is beginning to grow on me. Vocals are the obvious weak point but the overall sound and lyrics were quite impressive and by the end I was beginning to like it a little. It may be a 2/5 to me right now but I can see that growing with a few more listens.
Steely Dan
3/5
Fav: Barrytown
Least Fav: Through With Buzz
Coldplay
4/5
Fav: Yellow
Least Fav: We Never Change
Yellow is such a perfect song. Rest of the album was rather nice with the exception of a couple dull moments. Even the weakest track was nice to listen to and proves early Coldplay was good, especially when you see what they’ve become…
Dexys Midnight Runners
3/5
Fav: This Is What She’s Like
Least Fav: Reminisce - Pt. 2
It was ok I guess, liked it a bit more than the other album by this group. It encapsulates a 5/10 rating
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Fav: Bridge Over Troubled Water
Least Fav: Why Don’t You Write Me
Ms. Dynamite
2/5
Fav: Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
Least Fav: Watch Over Them
The first few tracks were great, and then it just started to decline from there. It was ok but I don’t see myself ever coming back to this album
Kings of Leon
2/5
Fav: Taper Jean Girl
Least Fav: King Of The Rodeo
Yeah, that singing is just not very good
Bauhaus
3/5
Fav: Kick In The Eye
Least Fav: Of Lillies And Remains
I was expecting to hate this based on the first track but I was pleasantly surprised. Not all of the ideas it’s going for manage to stick but it’s an admirable effort with some great songs.
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Fav: Racing In The Street
Least Fav: Candy’s Room
I’m surprised at all the reviews here saying or implying he can’t sing, Springsteen’s voice is great!
The Velvet Underground
4/5
Fav: Sunday Morning
Least Fav: European Son
This album was worth the hype, and only faltered at the last 2 songs. I saw some people say they didn’t like Nico’s vocals but I enjoyed her singing.
Tracy Chapman
3/5
Fav: Baby Can I Hold You
Least Fav: Mountains O’ Things
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Fav: So Long, Marianne
Least Fav: Master Song
Some nice easy listening songs, enjoyed this more than I expected
Jethro Tull
2/5
Fav: Wind Up
Least Fav: Mother Goose
The good songs I really enjoyed, but a majority of the songs I just found forgettable. I admire the usage of flutes though.
Radiohead
4/5
Fav: There, There
Least Fav: The Gloaming
Finally got an album I’ve already heard before! As far as Radiohead goes it’s got a couple flaws with the weaker songs but a majority of this album is amazing. Even some of the more experimental stuff was pretty nice, for the most part, with the highlights being conveniently at the beginning, middle and end of the album.
Count Basie & His Orchestra
3/5
Fav: The King From Red Bank
Least Fav: After Supper
Cat Stevens
4/5
Fav: Father And Son
Least Fav: Tea For The Tillerman
Pixies
3/5
Fav: Mr. Grieves
Least Fav: Tame
The screaming songs were hit-or-miss for me and the second half of the album didn’t really do much for me. However I do think that there are moments of brilliance on this album that bring it up to a 3/5. Debaser, Here Comes Your Man and Mr. Grieves being my favourites
Kendrick Lamar
5/5
Fav: Wesley’s Theory
Least Fav: For Free? - Interlude
Incredible album, and u has got to be the greatest song I never want to listen to again.
Eminem
2/5
Fav: Bad Meets Evil
Least Fav: As The World Turns
Beats were pretty nice and there’s a few songs I enjoyed but the majority I either didn’t care for or actively disliked. The edginess didn’t bother me but Eminem’s rapping wasn’t really doing it for me.
Gene Clark
3/5
Fav: 1975
Least Fav: With Tomorrow
It was alright, consistently decent but nothing really stood out. I’ll probably forget about this album within a week.
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Fav: Rocks Off
Least Fav: I Just Want To See His Face
This didn’t need to be 18 tracks long. At least some of the songs were very good
Ice Cube
2/5
Fav: The Nigga Ya Love To Hate
Least Fav: Once Upon A Time In The Projects
After the 4th song it begins to grow boring and very same-y, I respect what it’s going for but it just really didn’t captivate me. The misogyny was certainly not great either. This album basically has the same issues of the Eminem album I listened to previously.
A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
Fav: Footprints
Least Fav: Pubic Enemy
The highlight for me was the instrumental sections, and overall album was great with 1-2 meh tracks. I’d say overall I am very excited to listen to more albums by A Tribe Called Quest.
Eric Clapton
1/5
Fav: Let It Grow
Least Fav: Willie And The Hand Jive
Even putting aside my dislike for Eric Clapton, this was just incredibly boring for me.
Adam & The Ants
3/5
Fav: Ants Invasion
Least Fav: Killer In The Home
By far the weirdest album I’ve listened to yet, and somehow I was able to enjoy it, o don’t think it was a masterpiece but I respected the album for just doing it’s own thing with the yodelling, the pirate song and “ant music for sex people, sex music for ant people”
David Bowie
4/5
Fav: Dollar Days
Least Fav: Girl Loves Me
A lot more jazzy than I expected. I enjoyed the album but as I don’t really listen to Bowie much I felt as if some of the emotional impact wasn’t as strong as it could’ve been, in spite of this I thought it was well done and no song was necessarily bad but just had a couple of weaker sections.
Death In Vegas
5/5
Fav: Dirge
Least Fav: Death Threat
This was awesome, loved the mix of rock and electronic sounds together, like a rockier version of groups such as Portishead. Thoroughly enjoyed!
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
Fav: Proud Mary
Least Fav: Graveyard Train
Thought I was going to hate this but was surprised by a few of the songs including the origins version of Proud Mary. Some of the bluesiness didn’t really vibe with me but it wasn’t something I hated. Will need to revisit in the future.
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Fav: Dancing In The Dark
Least Fav: Glory Days
Stronger second half, but is filled with great songs with great lyrics, not much else to say but I enjoyed it even with some of its weaker tracks.
Radiohead
3/5
Fav: Pyramid Song
Least Fav: Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors
This album is something I’ve always considered on the weaker side of Radiohead’s discography. I respect the experimental but it does not always work when you’ve got songs like Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors. Some of the better songs like Pyramid Song and Knives Out show that this album has quality when it wants to.
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Fav: Jazz Police
Least Fav: Tower Of Song
The sheer contrast from this to the previous Cohen album I listened to (Songs Of Leonard Cohen) was crazy and I was blown away. Backing vocals were great and I am certainly a Leonard Cohen fan if I wasn’t before. Only issue was a couple of the songs felt meh but not I didn’t hate.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Fav: When The Levee Breaks
Least Fav: Misty Mountain Hop
First time properly listening to Led Zeppelin and what a way to start, it was fantastic. I was only familiar with Stairway To Heaven but the rest of the album was fantastic too, with a couple of issues with songs but nothing to rank any individual song below a 4/5.
Thin Lizzy
2/5
Fav: The Boys Are Back In Town
Least Fav: Sha-La-La
Way too long, with way too much filler. These factors outweigh the actually good songs and leaves me disappointed for my 100th album
Pet Shop Boys
5/5
Fav: Jealousy
Least Fav: Only The Wind
One thing this list is making me realise is that I enjoy electronica a lot more than I thought I did. This album is very much a product of 80s-early 90s but does it so well.
Fairport Convention
3/5
Fav: Come All Ye
Least Fav: Medley: The Lark In The Morning
The singing and instruments was good in terms of ability but it didn’t do much for me. It was ok.
Little Richard
3/5
Fav: Ready Teddy
Least Fav: Miss Ann
Decent, but all of the songs almost blend into one. Hard for me to differentiate.
Herbie Hancock
4/5
Fav: Sly
Least Fav: Vein Melter
Was dreading this as a 41 minute album with 4 songs did not seem very appealing to me, but to my surprise the album was as great and the individual song length wasn’t even as issue. Best jazz and best funk album I’ve heard so far.
Sarah Vaughan
4/5
Fav: Willow Weep For Me
Least Fav: Just A Gigolo
Incredible voice, very cosy sounding album
Billy Bragg
4/5
Fav: Help The Youth Of America
Least Fav: The Marriage
My only prior knowledge of Billy Bragg was his debut album which was ok at best, so I was expecting to dislike this if it was anything like that. I’m happy to say that this is SO much better, so much so that I was really struggling whether to give it a 4 or 5. My rule is that there can be 1 song that’s not great and still be a 5 star album as long as the song isn’t offensively bad, and as much as I tried to I couldn’t justify giving it a 5 but this is by far my strongest 4 to date. Hope he appears more on this list
Buena Vista Social Club
4/5
Fav: Amor De Loca Juventud
Least Fav: Orgullecida
No matter how good or bad it is, I’ll never get tired of world music on this list, it’s always a treat and a gateway to cultures outside of what I’m used to
White Denim
4/5
Fav: Street Joy
Least Fav: River To Consider
Perfectly fine album, but just feels like it’s missing something that would make it a 5. Not sure about this album so I’ll keep it at a 4. So far 2010s has had no bad albums, so I’m hoping it stays that way
Giant Sand
3/5
Fav: Shiver
Least Fav: (Well) Dusted
This would’ve been a 1/5 if the second half wasn’t as good as it was
Blondie
4/5
Fav: Just Go Away
Least Fav: I Know But I Don’t Know
Yknow maybe new wave isn’t so bad after all
Nirvana
3/5
Fav: The Man Who Sold The World
Least Fav: Dumb
Man, that second half was sure was uninteresting! Atleast they pulled it around in the last 2 songs
Throwing Muses
4/5
Fav: Call Me
Least Fav: Fear
My favourite part was how whenever it sounded like it was gonna decrease in quality they just completely changed it up. Only issue was the vocals sometimes not being fantastic
The Who
4/5
Fav: Much Too Much
Least Fav: I’m A Man
Another one that’s so close to being a 5…atleast it’s definitely my favourite 60s album so far
Black Sabbath
3/5
Fav: N.I.B.
Least Fav: Black Sabbath
It’s ok, and I’ll acknowledge that on a better day I may have rated this higher, but I didn’t vibe with this as much as I’d hoped. There’s some talent in there for sure
Iron Maiden
5/5
Fav: Prowler
Least Fav: Running Free
I was ready to hate this due to my indifference to metal and the terrible album cover, but it managed to pull through with 8 masterfully crafted songs
The Mars Volta
3/5
Fav: Inertiatic Esp
Least Fav: Son Et Lumiere
The chaotic nature of the songs got really boring after a while, way too long and way too similar imo. There’s definitely talent there so it’s not worthy of a 2
Frank Sinatra
2/5
Fav: I See Your Face Before Me
Least Fav: Glad To Be Unhappy
Long and boring. I enjoy some Sinatra but it was just too much of the same thing, and I get that structuring of albums was different back then, but it’s still bad
Cream
3/5
Fav: Strange Brew
Least Fav: Mother’s Lament
Certainly better than Eric Clapton’s solo work
The Dictators
2/5
Fav: (I Live For) Cars And Girls
Least Fav: Back To Africa
There’s a couple really good songs here that are surrounded by mediocre to bad songs, this could’ve been so much better
The Smiths
4/5
Fav: Barbarism Begins At Home
Least Fav: Meat Is Murder
I’ve put off The Smiths for a while, but if all their albums sound like this maybe it’s worth giving them a shot
Foo Fighters
1/5
Fav: Good Grief
Least Fav: Weenie Beani
Supremely boring and generic, was very happy for this to end. Dave Grohl can’t sing
Hüsker Dü
3/5
Fav: Could You Be The One?
Least Fav: Visionary
Really wanted to give this a 4/5 but it’s too long and needs cutting down by a large amount, however there are some cracking songs on here
Sebadoh
5/5
Fav: Soul On Fire
Least Fav: Telecosmic Alechemy
This was incredible, lo-fi rock is something new to me and it will be something I’ll be getting into. Im shocked at such a low average rating, this album was great
Justice
5/5
Fav: Valentine
Least Fav: The Party
If your worst track on the album is The Party, you’re doing something right. So far these electronica picks have been perfect
Cyndi Lauper
3/5
Fav: Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Least Fav: Yeah Yeah
This did not sound as I expected it to, it’s good and Cyndi’s voice is great but some of the songs feel lacking. Unsure how to feel about it rn so I’ll stick with a 3
Johnny Cash
4/5
Fav: Cocaine Blues
Least Fav: Dark As The Dungeon
Best country album I’ve received so far
Joni Mitchell
4/5
Fav: Harry’s House / Centerpiece
Least Fav: Don’t Interrupt The Sorrow
Damn Joni, I was not familiar with your game
Pixies
3/5
Fav: Where Is My Mind?
Least Fav: Cactus
Disappointed at the lack of surfing music here ngl
The Sabres Of Paradise
4/5
Fav: Wilmot
Least Fav: Bubble And Slide
Certainly the strangest album I’ve listened to so far, and it doesn’t feel very haunted but all the songs slap. Some…interesting choices for these songs but they just work
PJ Harvey
4/5
Fav: Let England Shake
Least Fav: Hanging In The Wire
Dagmar Krause
3/5
Fav: Ballad Of The Sackslingers
Least Fav: Mother Beimleim
Had too many short songs that affected the pacing, but the lyrics and overall feel of life in Germany in and out of war was done very well. Flawed but worth the listen
Gorillaz
3/5
Fav: 19-2000
Least Fav: Punk
It’s a decent start, but you can tell Damon Albarn was finding his feet with this album
Malcolm McLaren
4/5
Fav: Obatala
Least Fav: El San Juanera
The Doors
3/5
Fav: L.A. Woman
Least Fav: Crawling King Snake
Yes
4/5
Fav: Yours Is No Disgrace
Least Fav: The Clap
It’s a Yes from me
Radiohead
5/5
Fav: (Nice Dream)
Least Fav: Bones
This is one of those albums that’s pretty much perfect, a favourite of mine
Method Man
1/5
Fav: All I Need
Least Fav: Tical
There’s a lot of hip hop albums that that I’ve enjoyed hearing for the first time through this list, this was really not one of them
Grizzly Bear
3/5
Fav: Ready, Able
Least Fav: Cheerleader
Very frustrating mix of incredible songs and boring songs, should’ve cut it down a little
Al Green
3/5
Fav: How To Mend A Broken Heart
Least Fav: So You’re Leaving
It’s aight, does enough to be good but not enough to be great
The United States Of America
2/5
Fav: The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Least Fav: The American Metaphysical Circus
I’m scared
Brian Eno
4/5
Fav: King’s Lead Hat
Least Fav: Kurt’s Rejoinder
Ok I can see why Brian Eno is a big deal
Red Hot Chili Peppers
2/5
Fav: If You Have To Ask
Least Fav: They’re Red Hot
They play their instruments competently, but this is lost behind the atrocious lyrics and bloated track list which takes away from the charm of the actually good songs, which there aren’t many of. When they hit they do a decent job but the misses are the standouts, especially when it’s this long
Shivkumar Sharma
4/5
Fav: Bhoop
Least Fav: Rag Piloo
Very calming, not much else to say
Beatles
4/5
Fav: Here, There And Everywhere
Least Fav: Doctor Robert
Best Beatles album on the list so far, but some of the tracks feel like they’re missing something. It’s shocking that some of these songs were made in the 60s…

Quite mesmerising
Joni Mitchell
4/5
Fav: River
Least Fav: Carey
Yeah, she’s good
Japan
3/5
Fav: Fall In Love With Me

Fav: Every Day Should Be A Holiday
Least Fav: Pete International Airport
Turns out the quality of their music came down too

Taylor Swift
1/5
Fav: Style
Least Fav: Bad Blood
Nothing against Taylor Swift or her fans but this just bored me. Style was the only song I genuinely liked
David Bowie
5/5
Fav: Life On Mars?
Least Fav: Kooks
After so many David Bowie albums that I’ve rated 4, I’ve finally found one worthy of a 5/5

Fav: The One
Least Fav: Hot Dog
I hate everything about this, and it’s confirmed that nu-metal was a mistake
Beastie Boys
1/5
Fav: Fight For Your Right
Least Fav: Girls
Very disappointed with this one, nowhere near as good as my previous Beastie Boys album. Songs like ‘Girls’ left me in disbelief that people thought that it was good enough to include on the album. Fight For Your Right is a great song but the gap in quality between that and the rest of the album is huge
R.E.M.

4/5
Fav: Tarkus
Least Fav: Are You Ready Eddy?
Strange of them to end a prog rock album with a rock n roll tune
The Who
2/5
Fav: Pinball Wizard
Least Fav: Overture
Ngl I expected a lot more from this album, was hoping for more songs on the same level as Pinball Wizard. Interesting concept though

Least Fav: Sometimes I Make You Sad
Hope they made a lot of money off of this album
Adele
3/5
Fav: When We Were Young

Fav: Love Bites
Least Fav: Excitable

Bob Dylan
5/5
Fav: Like A Rolling Stone
Least Fav: It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry

Eminem
1/5
Fav: Stan
Least Fav: Marshall Mathers
I just don’t get Eminem
Neil Young
3/5
Fav: Southern Man

It’s a real shame they only made one album and nothing more
5/5
Fav: Knights Of Cydonia
Least Fav: Soldier’s Poem
Muse are my all-time favourite band and they’ve always meant so much to me. This album is superb and I’m saddened to find out this is the only muse album on the last, alas atleast there’s one. This is another album I consider flawless
Nico
3/5
Fav: The Fairest Of Seasons
Least Fav: It Was A Pleasure Then
I actually like Nico’s vocals, but some of these songs really do overstay their welcome
Blur

He made a really nice blues album, and that’s an achievement in itself
Korn
3/5
Fav: Dead Bodies Everywhere
Least Fav: All In The Family (feat. Fred Durst)
At its worst, it’s amusingly bad, but some of the songs do go hard af, a noticeable improvement from fellow nu-metal group Limp Bizkit and their tragic album that’s on this list
Love
2/5
Fav: A House Is Not A Motel
Least Fav: Live And Let Live
I didn’t love this…
Sugar
3/5

The Only Ones
4/5
Fav: Another Girl, Another Planet
Least Fav: Creature Of Doom
Think it drags a little in the second half but that first half is back to back perfect songs. This is the sorta stuff I like to see. Also shout out to having a song unironically called Creature Of Doom, that’s what I like to see from song names
Pink Floyd
4/5
Fav: Comfortably Numb
Least Fav: Bring The Boys Back Home

Willie Nelson
3/5
Fav: Can I Sleep In Your Arms
Least Fav: Time Of The Preacher Theme
Felt like by the time I was starting to enjoy a song, it would end and another similar sounding song would take its place. Thankfully the second half had songs longer than 2 minutes
Peter Frampton
4/5
Fav: Show Me The Way - Live
Least Fav: I Wanna Go To The Sun - Live
Usually hate double live albums, but Frampton has pleasantly surprised me here. Not as bad as I expected an album under the Hard Rock genre to be

Least Fav: Doralice
Such a relaxing and cozy album, it Getz a 5/5 from me
Dire Straits
3/5
Fav: Wild West End
Least Fav: Down To The Waterline
That first half bored me so much I fell asleep. The second half atleast proved it wasn’t as Dire as I expected it to be. Second half is actually chill instead of boring
King Crimson
2/5
Fav: Exiles
Least Fav: Larks’ Tongue In Aspic (Part I)
Did they get paid extra for each second that they use percussion?
Marvin Gaye

Fav: Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)
Least Fav: Right On
Got me out of a bad mood, so I’m very appreciative of this album
Coldcut
2/5
Fav: People Hold On
Least Fav: Smoke Dis One
There’s elements of some of the songs that suggest that they can cook, but it’s just ruined by repetition and some questionable sample choices. Quite frustrating, especially considering how good the first song is
Isaac Hayes
3/5
Fav: Theme From Shaft
Least Fav: Do Your Thing
Do Your Thing going the Oasis route of being atleast 5-10 mins too long
Tangerine Dream

Fav: China Girl
Least Fav: Sister Midnight
They named an album after me
Talking Heads
4/5
Fav: Psycho Killer
Least Fav: Tentative Decisions

Fav: If I Should Die Tonight
Least Fav: You Sure Love To Ball
Christina Aguilera

Fav: Ruiner
Least Fav: Piggy
So many good songs, but I hope Trent Reznor is doing alright atm
The Band
4/5
Fav: Whispering Pines
Least Fav: Rag Mama Rag
The Band prove to be a good band by making a country rock album that sounds pretty good for its length. It’s a shame many forgot this simple trick when making their own albums
Derek & The Dominos
3/5
Fav: Layla
Least Fav: I Am Yours
The less bluesier it got, the better it was. However I’m not gonna forgive this website for forcing me to listen to over an hour of Clapton
Queen
4/5
Fav: Bohemian Rhapsody
Least Fav: Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon
Decent album, but Bohemian Rhapsody is a classic for a reason

3/5
Fav: Jump
Least Fav: Drop Dead Legs
Supergrass
4/5
Fav: Alright
Least Fav: We’re Not Supposed To
Turns out, this band is more than alright - they’re incredible! With this and the other Supergrass album on this list, I’ve become a massive fan. Fav: A Change Is Gonna Come
Least Fav: Rock Me Baby
Otis Purple
Everything But The Girl
3/5

Fav: Do You Realize??
Least Fav: Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Pt. 2
Making me both feel like I’m floating through space whilst also hitting me with the happy tears, fair play

Fav: The Prettiest Star
Least Fav: Panic In Detroit
This list wants me to be a Bowie fan so badly and it’s working
Bon Jovi
3/5
Fav: Livin’ On A Prayer
Least Fav: Without Love
I mean it’s a safe metal album, but it’s less egregious than other hair metal albums on this list…
Metallica
2/5
Fav: One
Least Fav: Blackened
I just don’t think I’ll ever get Metallica, an hour of them felt torturous
The La's
3/5
Fav: There She Goes
Least Fav: Way Out
For being perfectionists, the end result is just so…nothing outside a couple good songs
Red Snapper
4/5
Fav: Don’t Go Nowhere
Least Fav: Some Kind Of Kink
Massive Attack if they went crazy experimental + a little sprinkle of Portishead in that one song
The Monks
3/5
Fav: Love Came Tumblin’ Down
Least Fav: Monk Time
Velvet Underground if they had joined the military
Iron Maiden
5/5
Fav: 22 Acacia Avenue
Least Fav: Hallowed Be Thy Name
Just like the traditional Iron Maiden we see in pop culture, I assumed that a good metal album was a myth, but Iron Maiden the band have proven me wrong. Maybe metal isn’t so bad after all
The Beta Band
1/5
Fav: Liquid Bird
Least Fav: Space
In the running for most boring album on this list, and not harmless boring that’s atleast easy listening - this is the sorta stuff that makes you think it’s nearly finished only to find out you’ve got another 25 minutes left
The Temptations
2/5

Fav: Tin Tin Deo
Least Fav: Oyeme
Paul Weller
3/5
Fav: 5th Season
Least Fav: All The Pictures On The Wall
He’s certainly competent and can create decent music, but nothing I’ve heard from any of his projects on this list have convinced me he can consistently make great music. Theres a lot of dull between the impressive stuff

Fav: Have You Seen Her Face
Least Fav: Mind Gardens
Impressive for the 60s, but that’s it
The Doors
5/5
Fav: Light My Fire
Least Fav: The End
I’m shocked at how much quality is on each individual song, with none standing out as a weak link. Even amongst my 5s, I could atleast see one song weaker than the rest. Great stuff

Fav: Pearl Of The Quarter
Least Fav: Razor Boy
Dad rock with a side dish of jazz, has some good moments but nothing too impressive overall
Leonard Cohen
4/5
Fav: Leaving The Table

Fav: The 6th Sense
Least Fav: Dooinit

The Beau Brummels
3/5
Fav: Nine Pound Hammer

This is just a lesser version of Bob Dylan (but it’s not bad at all)
Neil Young
4/5
Fav: On The Beach
Least Fav: For The Turnstiles
Death Stranding 2
Sonic Youth
3/5
Fav: Candle
Least Fav: Kissability
They must’ve made a deal with the devil to lessen their ability to sing in exchange for extreme tinnitus-inducing distortion. I wouldn’t have it any other way
Gil Scott-Heron

Fav: The Bottle
Least Fav: H2OGate Blues
So hard to decide a fav and least fav, consistently good quality

Least Fav: All About Love (First Impression)
As someone who only knew their big hits, this was a nice surprise
The Cult
2/5
Fav: Love Removal Machine
Least Fav: Born To Be Wild
This level of sell-out is pathetic, the change away from gothic rock definitely seems wrong if this album came from it
Femi Kuti
5/5
Fav: Stubbor Problems
Least Fav: No Shame
Incredible, really surprised by this one. Not a single song was anything less than amazing. Currently searching for afrobeat playlists rn
Frank Zappa
4/5

This is Frank Zappa’s redemption arc after The Mothers Of Invention
The Style Council
2/5
Fav: Blue Cafe
Least Fav: A Gospel
It’s got a bit of everything, unfortunately that includes Paul Weller rapping
Public Image Ltd.
2/5
Fav: Low Life
Least Fav: Fodderstompf
For 3 songs, you’re reminded that John Lydon can create decent music, only for the final 2 songs to question whether you were right to believe that
George Harrison
5/5
Fav: My Sweet Lord
Least Fav: I Dig Love
Dreaded this as it’s a triple album, only to discover that George Harrison may infact be the GOAT
Willie Nelson
5/5
Fav: September Song
Least Fav: Don’t Get Around Much Anymore
I cannot believe I’m giving a country album a 5/5 but here we are. This list is def making me rethink my biases against the genre for sure

The Killers at home:
Eagles
3/5
Fav: Hotel California

A lil better than the other Eagles album on here, but at the end of the day it’s sadly still just the same old Eagles
The Mothers Of Invention
1/5
Fav: Anyway The Wind Blows
Least Fav: The Return Of The Son Of Monster Magnet
Generating this album on April Fool’s Day was an omen. It’s great to have a laugh at, but for listening it’s absolutely terrible.
What do you mean the last song is 12 minutes???????
Todd Rundgren
4/5
Fav: Sweeter Memories
Least Fav: Song Of The Viking
Sides 1 and 4 are basically perfect, 2 and 3 lull a little bit which is unfortunate because this could easily be a 5/5 if it was cut down a little
Mike Oldfield
4/5
Fav: Tubular Bells - Pt. 1
Least Fav: Tubular Bells - Pt. 2
I’d say just get rid of the weird caveman vocals and it’s a 5, some of this was truly beautiful such as the ending parts of Part 1, but those vocals kind of took me out of the vibe
3/5
Fav: She’s Leaving Home
Least Fav: Within You Without You
Justice for She’s Leaving Home, one of the more underrated Beatles songs
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
4/5
Fav: Firefly Child
Least Fav: Identity
That scream at the beginning is a litmus test to see who can handle the pure punk emitting from the tracks, the blues explosion if you will
Britney Spears
3/5
Fav: …Baby One More Time
Least Fav: Soda Pop
One trick pony, the album. Britney’s voice is really good but can only go so far when it’s quite repetitive
Fugees
3/5
Fav: Killing Me Softly With His Song
Least Fav: How Many Mics
M.I.A.
3/5
Fav: 10 Dollar
Least Fav: Pull Up The People

Depeche Mode
4/5
Fav: Policy Of Truth
Least Fav: World In My Eyes
Yeah I can def see how Pet Shop Boys were inspired by this
The Good, The Bad & The Queen
3/5
Fav: The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Least Fav: History Song
Gets the worst of it out the way and locks in towards the end. Outside of a few near production choices I felt it was kinda bland and not nearly as interesting as a supergroup of such high quality musicians should realistically be expected to do
Joni Mitchell
4/5
Fav: Raised On Robbery
Least Fav: Court And Spark
I think the jazzier she makes her music, the more I like it
Scissor Sisters
3/5
Fav: Mary
Least Fav: Comfortably Numb
Whilst I didn’t love that cover of Comfortably Numb, I respect that they transformed it into a campy disco vibe, like with the rest of the album
Jamiroquai
3/5
Fav: Blow Your Mind
Least Fav: Hooked Up
Special shout-out to the synths, they make the good stuff better and saves the average songs from being bad. Not bad for my 300th album
Frank Ocean
4/5

Orange is the best colour, so it’s no surprise that an album titled ‘Channel Orange’ is actually pretty good
Jungle Brothers
3/5
Fav: What “U” Waitin’ “4”?
Least Fav: Kool Accordin’ “2” A Jungle Brother
Liked what it had to say, didn’t like the length

Least Fav: Liberty For Our Friend
Bass went kinda crazy ngl
Pixies
3/5
Fav: Velouria
Least Fav: Is She Weird
Believe this is the 3rd and final Pixies album on the list, and my conclusion is that they made a few great songs on otherwise ok albums. Most of the songs were pleasant enough but not memorable

5/5
Fav: There She Goes, My Beautiful World
Least Fav: Abbatoir Blues
Individually, Abattoir Blues is a 4/5 and The Lyre Of Orpheus is a 5/5, however I think it’s a 5 overall. I assumed that Nick Cave was a singer-songwriter but to my surprise this album had a lot more rock than I had anticipated, another pleasant surprise from the list
The Stooges
4/5
Fav: Search And Destroy
Least Fav: Penetration
Loved the album but yeesh, you can really tell that they mixed it in 1 day. That out of sync drum in penetration was particularly noticeable

Fav: I.G.Y.
Least Fav: Green Flower Street
Yeah I’m not surprised this was a Steely Dan solo project
The Replacements
4/5

Genesis
4/5
Fav: I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)
Least Fav: More Fool Me
Ok fair play, Peter Gabriel and co were cooking with this, just wish the best parts of the songs lasted longer
Elvis Costello
4/5
Fav: Blame It On Cain
Least Fav: Sneaky Feelings
The first of many for Costello, if all of his stuff is this good then I’m not complaining
The Streets
1/5
Fav: Fit But You Know It
Least Fav: Get Out Of My House
Always liked Fit But You Know It, shame that the album is just kinda terrible with a lack of flow
Pere Ubu
3/5
Fav: Street Waves
Least Fav: Life Stinks
By far the most unique album I’ve come across so far, and I actually somewhat like it? Maybe it’s because I listened to it whilst in a bad mood but the craziness spoke to me and I enjoyed it. Whilst I think it goes a little too off the rails in the middle, it pulls around for an overall satisfying experience. Very happy I listened to something this unique
Fleetwood Mac
3/5
Fav: Sara
Least Fav: The Ledge
I think a double album of Fleetwood Mac was just a bit too much for me
Jimi Hendrix
3/5
Fav: Little Wing
Least Fav: Up From The Skies
Hearing Little Wing made me realise how badly Eric Clapton butchered it
Motörhead
3/5
Fav: Stay Clean - Live In England 1981
Least Fav: Capricorn - Live In England 1981
They’ve got one thing they repeat, but the energy in each song makes me unable to hate it, even with Lemmy’s cigarette smoking raspy vocals
Robert Wyatt
5/5
Fav: Sea Song
Least Fav: Alife
Hitting rock bottom never sounded so good, cos wtf this greatly exceeded my expectations
Elvis Presley
2/5
Fav: I Love You Because
Least Fav: Blue Moon
Revolutionary in the 50s and only in the 50s
AC/DC
4/5
Fav: If You Want Blood (You Got It)
Least Fav: Night Prowler
They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, they’re just playing what they know best, and it’s not bad
Orbital
5/5
Fav: Quality Seconds
Least Fav: I Wish I Had Duck Feet
Made a shopping trip a hell of a lot more interesting, always grateful for that
OutKast
3/5
Fav: Church
Least Fav: Where Are My Panties
The correct opinion is Speakerboxxx > The Love Below (but they’re both good in their own ways)
Wilco
5/5
Fav: Heavy Metal Drummer
Least Fav: I’m Trying To Break Your Heart
Simply incredible, if you were trying to break my heart with this album you’ve failed
David Bowie
4/5
Fav: Always Crashing In The Same Car
Least Fav: Subterraneans
Sound And Vision was my first Bowie song so I’m def nostalgic towards it, and I think the first half is consistently good. I do think this has the same issue as Heroes where the ambient half, whilst still good, isn’t on the same level as the first half
The Byrds
4/5
Fav: I’ll Feel A Whole Lot Better
Least Fav: We’ll Meet Again
Depeche Mode
3/5
Fav: Never Let Me Down Again
Least Fav: I Want You Now
Don’t be fooled by the opener, it’s an average at best album
Tina Turner
2/5
Fav: Private Dancer
Least Fav: Better Be Good To Me
Her voice is really good, but that 80s production will never sound good to me, it ruins some of the songs
Frank Black
4/5
Fav: Headache
Least Fav: Sir Rockaby
I think individually these are all great songs, but there’s not enough variety to justify it being a double album. Album length is all that’s stopping me giving this a 5, and I’m surprised that I like this more than his work as part of Pixies
Arcade Fire
3/5
Fav: In The Backseat
Least Fav: Neighbourhood #4: (7 Kettles)
Those last couple songs were so much better than the rest of the album
Arcade Fire
3/5
Fav: The Suburbs
Least Fav: Modern Man
I don’t really care much for the album but the title track brings me so much nostalgia so I’m always thankful for that
Linkin Park
2/5
Fav: In The End
Least Fav: Points Of Authority
Contender for the most dated album on this list?
Lorde
3/5
Fav: Perfect Places
Least Fav: The Louvre
Really hoped this would do something for me, but it just left me feeling empty
R.E.M.
4/5
Fav: Find The River
Least Fav: New Orleans Instrumental No. 1
At worst, R.E.M are consistently good, and it feels nice to have an artist that I can rely on to not make something terrible
The Psychedelic Furs
3/5
Fav: Pretty In Pink
Least Fav: I Wanna Sleep With You
Don’t know to how feel, vocals were kinda mid and the weird saxophone was a bit hit-or-miss, but some of the songs have started to grow on me. I guess it’s a 3/5
Talvin Singh
4/5
Fav: Butterfly
Least Fav: Mombasstic
This is where I find out that Ambient DnB mixed with Asian instruments is secretly what I’ve been waiting for (as a big fan of the Sitar)
Queen
5/5
Fav: Killer Queen
Least Fav: Dear Friends
Finally! A Queen album without a bunch of filler songs
SZA
4/5
Fav: Doves In The Wind (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Least Fav: Pretty Little Birds (feat. Isaiah Rashad)
Just goes to show that modern music is in fact good, and is much better than what many would have you believe
Wilco
5/5
Fav: Outtasite (Outta Mind)
Least Fav: Forget The Flowers
Currently adding Wilco to my list of artists to properly get into, there stuff in this list has been nothing short of incredible. It’s so varied for country rock
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
Fav: Bad Moon Rising
Least Fav: Sinister Purpose
Should just be called ‘Bad Moon Rising and some other songs that are ok at best’
Kanye West
4/5
Fav: Devil In A New Dress
Least Fav: Blame Game
Loved this album, but things like that terrible Chris Rock bit at the end of Blame Game can really ruin the flow. However, most of the other songs are pretty much perfect, just needs cutting down a lil. Also shout out to JAY-Z’s verse in Monster, man really took the time to name as many monsters as he can remember
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
3/5
Fav: Heads Will Roll
Least Fav: Little Shadow
Always nice to recognise a song you had no idea was on the album, especially if it’s a banger like Heads Will Roll is
Louis Prima
3/5
Fav: Just A Gigolo/ I Ain’t Got Nobody - Medley
Least Fav: Body And Soul
As with most of the 1950s music on the list, it’s alright ig
R.E.M.
4/5
Fav: It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Least Fav: Oddfellows Local 151
R.E.Mbo No. 5 is a good album, even with that odd closer
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
1/5
Fav: Moonlight On Vermont
Least Fav: China Pig
I cannot do a double album with this sound, 12 songs in and I felt despair at the fact I wasn’t even halfway through the album. Tom Waits brought a jazz band and decides to beat you up with jazz instruments in every song that’s not spoken word
Peter Tosh
4/5
Fav: Till Your Well Runs Dry
Least Fav: Legalize It
With this challenge, the reggae picks are yet to let me down. Long may this continue
Alice Cooper
3/5
Fav: Blue Turk
Least Fav: Public Animal #9
More varied than expected for blues rock
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
Fav: Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
Least Fav: Lady Of The Island
Just as good without Neil Young involved
Eels
2/5
Fav: Rags To Rags
Least Fav: Susan’s House
Had no idea they worked on pretty much every Shrek film’s soundtrack
System Of A Down
3/5
Fav: Sugar
Least Fav: CUBErt
If there’s one thing I took from this album it’s that I don’t know if I hate the vocals or not, but those guitars can shred that’s for sure
The Band
3/5
Fav: I Shall Be Released
Least Fav: In A Station
It’s good, but I think that the self-titled album pulls this off better
Red Hot Chili Peppers
2/5
Fav: Parallel Universe
Least Fav: Get On Top
It’s insane how much of a downgrade that second half was, WOW
Frank Sinatra
3/5
Fav: You Make Me Feel So Young
Least Fav: How About You?
The Sinatra classic, individually great songs that grow tiresome on an album where songs have similar structures and repeat themselves ad nauseaum
Donovan
3/5
Fav: Celeste
Least Fav: Ferris Wheel
Need to hear more songs like Celeste, that’s up there with the best Bob Dylan songs
ZZ Top
2/5
Fav: Sharp Dressed Man
Least Fav: I Need You Tonight
Didn’t mind the big hits but it’s the classic case of boring, one-note songs that you get with most of these types of rock albums
The Hives
4/5
Fav: Hate To Say I Told You So
Least Fav: Supply And Demand
Strange that it’s a compilation instead of a standard album, but I like it enough to let it slide. I was worried every song would sound the same but they’ve done well to keep it unique, overall a quick and fun time
Simply Red
3/5
Fav: Open Up The Red Box
Least Fav: Heaven
Not much to say, it’s simply ok. What’s not simply ok was that cover of Heaven, the original is one of my favourite songs and I respect it for trying something new, but I just didn’t like it
Common
5/5
Fav: GO!
Least Fav: The Corner
Don’t need a PhD to tell you that this is a flawless album
Fleetwood Mac
5/5
Fav: The Chain
Least Fav: Never Going Back Again
Ok fair enough, I can see why it’s the highest rated album on the website
George Michael
4/5
Fav: Monkey
Least Fav: I Want Your Sex - Pts. 1 & 2
Dutch Van Der Linde approves of this album
The Beach Boys
3/5
Fav: Good To My Baby
Least Fav: When I Grow Up (To Be A Man)
It’s a one trick pony album, but the trick is…decent. The harmonising is pretty nice but some variety would’ve made it incredible
Elvis Presley
3/5
Fav: Gentle On My Mind
Least Fav: Power Of My Love
I’ll give him this, he came a long way from his debut
Faust
3/5
Fav: Jennifer
Least Fav: The Sad Skinhead
The best parts were when they were not singing, loved the atmosphere they were able to create
k.d. lang
4/5
Fav: Miss Chatelaine
Least Fav: Tears Of Love’s Recall
Miss Chatelaine and Season Of Hollow Soul put me in a good mood, I just wish that more of the songs had that vibe but I still like that chill vibe
Beastie Boys
4/5
Fav: B-Boy Bouillabaisse: A Year And A Day
Least Fav: High Plains Drifter
Sound Of Science onwards it really locks in. Really enjoyed
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
4/5
Fav: Penguin Cafe Single
Least Fav: Zopf: Milk
Not bad for my 1 year anniversary for starting this challenge. I’m pretty far behind but I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far, so many genres and artists discovered. Looking forward to the rest
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Fav: Sympathy For The Devil
Least Fav: Factory Girl
A pretty stellar first half, but I really didn’t care for some of the stuff on the second half like Prodigal Son and Factory Girl
Bee Gees
1/5
Fav: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart
Least Fav: Lion In Winter
So you choose to include some Bee Gees, and not feature their disco music which everyone knows them for. And you instead include this album of boring songs with some dreadful vocals at times and uninspired songs?! At least the first song is alright I guess…
Nina Simone
3/5
Fav: Four Women
Least Fav: If I Should Lose You
Blood, Sweat & Tears
3/5
Fav: God Bless The Child
Least Fav: And When I Die
Jazz rock was not what I expected, thought this would be a proper country rock album. Even with the classical music covers I think it’s alright in spite of it being all over the place
Michael Jackson
3/5
Fav: Smooth Criminal
Least Fav: Speed Demon
Smooth Criminal is up there in the ranks of songs that save an album from being completely average, it’s back must be aching
Isaac Hayes
4/5
Fav: Walk On By
Least Fav: By The Time I Get To Phoenix
Great album all around but shoutout to Walk On By for being an incredible song
Neil Young
3/5
Fav: Alabama
Least Fav: Are You Ready For The Country?
It's alright, and that disappoints me. Outside of a couple songs not much really stuck out, unlike some of his other albums
Joan Baez
5/5
Fav: All My Trials
Least Fav: Donna Donna
Fantastic voice, I think it really elevates a good album into something incredible
Klaxons
3/5
Fav: Gravity’s Rainbow
Least Fav: Isle Of Her
I mean it’s alright, but why is this on the list?
Big Brother & The Holding Company
2/5
Fav: Piece Of My Heart
Least Fav: I Need A Man To Love
I’m just bored of most blues music tbh
k.d. lang
4/5
Fav: I Wish I Didn’t Love You So
Least Fav: Don’t Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes
Her voice is so good when she hits those high notes wow
Björk
5/5
Fav: Venus As A Boy
Least Fav: The Anchor Song
50% experimental electronic bangers, 50% saxophone, 100% chance of enjoyment for me
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
4/5
Fav: Country Girl
Least Fav: Almost Cut My Hair
Neil Young always finding a way to feature in this list, just when you think his solo career isn’t enough
Jimmy Smith
3/5
Fav: Back At The Chicken Shack
Least Fav: Minor Chant
Some nice easy-listening jazz, but outside of the title track I didn’t care for it much
Beck
3/5
Fav: Hotwax
Least Fav: Novacane
Had to do a double take when the Wikipedia article listed the different genres it covers, sadly not as good as the genre list made it appear to be :(
Tom Waits
4/5
Fav: Rain Dogs
Least Fav: 9th & Hennepin
Wouldn’t be surprised if Tom Waits was a pirate in a past life
Nick Drake
5/5
Fav: At The Chime Of A City Clock
Least Fav: Introduction
This felt like it was made for me, it’s everything I’ve wanted from a folk album, I’m very happy with it
Jane's Addiction
2/5
Fav: Been Caught Stealing
Least Fav: Of Course
Think the name of the album is better than any of the songs
Venom
3/5
Fav: Raise The Dead
Least Fav: At War With Satan (Introduction)
A metal album, of which I’m listening to on a busy train, should be a sign of disaster but no I actually thought it was alright…just as long as you avoid the edgy teenager lyrics
Radiohead
5/5
Fav: Let Down
Least Fav: Fitter Happier
Yeah this is straight up one of the greatest albums ever made. Every song has so much care put into it, and the themes of anxiety for the future as well as this sense of hopelessness are conveyed very well, and I am so glad I’ve heard most of these songs live as they’re very special to me. You’ll struggle to find many albums better than this
Beyoncé
3/5
Fav: Pretty Hurts
Least Fav: Blow
Beyoncé’s voice is so good as usual, but I think this was the wrong album to showcase her talents. She needs at least 1 more
Fairport Convention
3/5
Fav: Cajun Woman
Least Fav: Million Dollar Bash
Nice bit of English folk music, but it never explains what the album title means…
Boston
4/5
Fav: Peace Of Mind
Least Fav: Smokin’
Distinct lack of alien abductions or other UFO related activities
5/5
Fav: The World Is A Ghetto
Least Fav: Four Cornered Room
Crazy sax soloes AND crazy harmonica soloes? I’m spoiled
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
3/5
Fav: Powderfinger
Least Fav: Ride My Llama
Even though my fav song is on the grungier b-side and my least fav song is on the folk rock a-side, I’m surprised by my preference towards side A
U2
4/5
Fav: Surrender
Least Fav: The Refugee
U2 hate is boring and should only apply to their iTunes album
Moby
5/5
Fav: Inside
Least Fav: The Sky Is Broken
It’s very rare to have an album where everything song is perfect
The Stooges
3/5
Fav: I Wanna Be Your Dog
Least Fav: We Will Fall
I Wanna Be Your Dog for next Christmas no 1?
Oasis
4/5
Fav: Married With Children
Least Fav: Up In The Sky
I was always Team Blur, but I can admit that Oasis had a strong start before they faded out. Many of the songs here are very nostalgic and I appreciate them, but Oasis’ album bloat problem has always existed. None of these songs needed to be 5 minutes
N.E.R.D
5/5
Fav: Breakout
Least Fav: Wonderful Place / Waiting For You
Surprised I enjoyed this so much, I guess this and The ArchAndroid have shown me that albums that can successfully mix rock, jazz and hip hop together are my weakness
Miles Davis
4/5
Fav: Blue Is Green
Least Fav: All Blues
Django Django
1/5
Fav: Skies Over Cairo
Least Fav: Zumm Zumm
I was waiting for it to end, and it felt like I was waiting for an eternity, I think one of the reviews comparing it to The Beta Band encapsulated why I dislike this album
Megadeth
3/5
Fav: Hangar 18
Least Fav: Dawn Patrol
The Who
3/5
Fav: Magic Bus - Live
Least Fav: Summertime Blues - Live
Fatboy Slim
4/5
Fav: Santa Cruz
Least Fav: Give The Po’ Man A Break
Celebrating 400 albums with a good album! Credit to Fatboy Slim, you can always tell when it’s his music, he just has that uniqueness to his mixing
Black Sabbath
3/5
Fav: Iron Man
Least Fav: Rat Salad
Surprised how much of this I already knew, but aside from that it’s a decent album that I appreciate more than their debut. Metal just isn’t really my thing ig
John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
4/5
Fav: Key To Love
Least Fav: Another Man
Dreaded this album but no, it’s actually pretty good even with Eric Clapton
Aerosmith
3/5
Fav: Whatever It Takes
Least Fav: My Girl
It’s Aerosmith, it’s ok, it’s basic
Lambchop
5/5
Fav: Grumpus
Least Fav: You Masculine You
Country is listenable to me when it has an alt vibe, and this is no exception. Thoroughly enjoyed
Johnny Cash
4/5
Fav: San Quentin
Least Fav: Starkville City Jail
Johnny Cash just oozes charisma, even if this album was terrible I still would appreciate how he works with the audience
Crowded House
3/5
Fav: Weather With You
Least Fav: She Goes On
It’s an alright album but some of these songs are so nostalgic so I can’t hate on it
Tricky
5/5
Fav: Hell Is Round The Corner
Least Fav: You Don’t
We all know it’s a fantastic album, but my hot take is that the sample in Glory Box by Portishead is better used in this album
Bob Dylan
4/5
Fav: Make You Feel My Love
Least Fav: Can’t Wait
For 1997, this is impressive stuff. Usually I assume that 50s/60s artists fade out of relevance by the 90s but not Bob, he was still kicking
The Pogues
2/5
Fav: Dirty Old Town
Least Fav: The Gentleman Soldier
These definitely sounded better blasting from the speakers of the Irish bars
Minor Threat
4/5
Fav: Cashing In
Least Fav: Little Friend
The intensity never lets up it’s great! Vocals on the other hand
The Soft Boys
3/5
Fav: Positive Vibrations
Least Fav: Old Pervert
Erykah Badu
4/5
Fav: A.D. 2000
Least Fav: Cleva
I’m usually intimidated by albums over an hour long by artists I’ve never heard of before, but I’m glad I gave this a shot. Some nice chill vibes that I can see where current artists have used Erykah as inspiration
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Fav: Crocodiles
Least Fav: Pride
One of those albums that I was about to write off before immediately reaching the best songs
Caetano Veloso
5/5
Fav: Soy Loco Por Ti América
Least Fav: Tropicália
The music is good and all but that album cover might be one of my favourites and I’m not sure why, but yeah the music is consistently great the whole way through
Turbonegro
5/5
Fav: The Age Of Pamparius
Least Fav: Good Head
Expected some sort of Norwegian death metal ala Napalm Death, got something that was so much better. More of this please
Dirty Projectors
2/5
Fav: Two Doves
Least Fav: The Bride
Wtf was this, complete nonsense that every now and then had some cool parts that I could appreciate
The Young Gods
3/5
Fav: Longue Route
Least Fav: La Fille De La Mort
It was enjoyable, but I wish it had more of a frantic energy ala Nine Inch Nails. Loved the guitars and orchestral samples but I needed more from them
Tito Puente
4/5
Fav: Three D Mambo
Least Fav: Hong Kong Mambo
Impossible to be in a bad mood after listening
Dexys Midnight Runners
4/5
Fav: Come On Eileen
Least Fav: Until I Believe In My Soul
This should’ve been the only album of theirs on the list. Would not have given these guys so much of my time by choice…atleast this is a good album
Meat Puppets
4/5
Fav: Plateau
Least Fav: We’re Here
Prefer these to the Nirvana MTV versions tbh
Cocteau Twins
5/5
Fav: Frou-Frou Foxes In Midsummer Fires
Least Fav: Road, River And Rail
Wow. I simultaneously felt like I was floating in space whilst also getting flashbacks to my childhood. I’ve never experienced this before in an album, simply perfect
Buzzcocks
3/5
Fav: Love Battery
Least Fav: You Tear Me Up
The Crusaders
4/5
Fav: Rodeo Drive (High Steppin’)
Least Fav: The Hustler
I want more of this, NOW
Ian Dury
3/5
Fav: If I Was A Woman
Least Fav: I’m Partial To Your Abracadabra
Love a bit of geezer-core. Wasn’t amazing but I appreciated a nice bit of British early punk. Sad that it didn’t have the song about hitting me with your rhythm stick :(
Basement Jaxx
3/5
Fav: Bingo Bango
Least Fav: Yo Yo
I really vibed with the second half, but some choices in the first half (such as that godawful auto tune) really let down what could’ve been a 5/5 album
The Mothers Of Invention
1/5
Fav: What’s The Ugliest Part Of Your Body?
Least Fav: The Chrome Plated Megaphone Of Destiny
A song on this album is called Hot Poop, tells you all you need to know about this mistake of an album. Omg the final song is 6 minutes long???????
The Go-Betweens
3/5
Fav: Streets Of Your Town
Least Fav: Clouds
The definition of ok, harmless and sometimes catchy but it’s lacking inspiration
Ryan Adams
1/5
Fav: New York, New York
Least Fav: Somehow, Someday
If this was like 30 mins maybe I’d feel something, but it’s so bloated and boring. It scares me that he originally wanted this to be longer
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
Fav: (Are You) The One That I’ve Been Waiting For?
Least Fav: Black Hair
I’ve heard two very different Nick Cave albums now, I’m hoping that his subsequent ones continue this trend cos he seems to do a good job. I just tbh ink I prefer some of his faster stuff such as some of his stuff on Abbatoir Blues / The Lyre Of Orpheus
Bob Dylan
3/5
Fav: I Shall Be Free
Least Fav: Bob Dylan’s Blues
Bob Dylan try not to use a harmonica after speaking every 5 words
Leftfield
3/5
Fav: Open Up
Least Fav: Afro Left
Open Up is such a tune. All of these songs are definitely danceable but I wish more of them had that staying power Open Up and Original have
Rahul Dev Burman
3/5
Fav: Romantic Theme
Least Fav: Naag Devta
Loved the instruments, but man the vocals just weren’t it. Still enjoyed it
Missy Elliott
3/5
Fav: Best Friends (Feat. Aaliyah)
Least Fav: Hit ‘Em Wit Da Hee (Feat. Lil Kim)
Timbaland beats hit hard once again
3/5
Fav: Siberian Khatru
Least Fav: Close To The Edge
Takes a while but when it hits it’s quite good
Taylor Swift
3/5
Fav: No Body, No Crime (Feat. HAIM)
Least Fav: Coney Island (Feat. The National)
Yeah fair enough, massive improvement from 1989 due to the songs being listenable. Not fantastic but there’s some good stuff on here
The Divine Comedy
5/5
Fav: I’m All You Need
Least Fav: Timewatching
Might be my favourite new discovery so far. All the songs are bangers and the lyrics are hilarious. I see a lot of people complaining about the dreadful lyrics but they fail to see it’s clearly comedic. Moral of the story is that The Divine Comedy is hugely underrated by the users on this website
Joy Division
3/5
Fav: Shadowplay
Least Fav: Candidate
Absolutely iconic album cover, really fits the album’s vibe
The Louvin Brothers
3/5
Fav: Let Her Go, God Bless Her
Least Fav: Take The News To Mother
I was enjoying this…until I realised it’s the same song on repeat. I’m not gonna remember any of this album by tomorrow
Sonic Youth
1/5
Fav: Tom Violence
Least Fav: Starpower
This album is for sure E.V.I.L, was not an easy or fun time
The Pogues
5/5
Fav: Fairytale Of New York (Feat. Kirsty MacColl)
Least Fav: If I Should Fall From Grace With God
If you’ve never drunkenly sang Fairytale Of New York with your mates at a pub/nightclub around Christmas, you’ve not lived life to its fullest
Massive Attack
5/5
Fav: Unfinished Sympathy
Least Fav: Hymn Of The Big Wheel
I love Portishead so I’m surprised I’d never tried Massive Attack. Glad this challenge made me bite the bullet because it was so worth it. Everyone is on top form for the album and it rightfully earns its place as one of trip hop’s finest albums
Silver Jews
3/5
Fav: Let’s Not And Say We Did
Least Fav: I Remember Me
I came around to this album in the end, but those vocals are terrible in parts and lets down the rest of the music
Paul Simon
4/5
Fav: Peace Like A River
Least Fav: Duncan
Art has Bright Eyes but with this album alone I’m thinking Paul Simon > Art Garfunkel
T. Rex
4/5
Fav: Spaceball Ricochet
Least Fav: Telegram Sam
At its worst it’s really catchy, loved it
Deee-Lite
2/5
Fav: Groove Is In The Heart
Least Fav: Build The Bridge
This one gets old really fast, it’s basically Groove Is In The Heart + some other songs you don’t care about
Koffi Olomide
4/5
Fav: Désespoir
Least Fav: Koweït, Rive Gauche
How can people hate this?! It’s a nice fun time and fits perfectly with spring and summer
The Youngbloods
4/5
Fav: Sunlight
Least Fav: On Sir Francis Drake
Really surprised me this did. Expected a generic country album but it was nice and chill, with Sunlight being the standout
4/5
Fav: Universal Corner
Least Fav: We’re Desperate
I don’t really know why I like this, I just do
The xx
3/5
Fav: Intro
Least Fav: Fantasy
But disappointed, it’s not bad but it goes nowhere and just feels kinda boring. I thought Intro was alright and felt dread when I realised it was the best the album had to offer
Hot Chip
3/5
Fav: Night And Day
Least Fav: These Chains
The Byrds
1/5
Fav: One Hundred Years From Now
Least Fav: Life In Prison
I don’t mind The Byrds, but finding out that this was a country album ruined it for me. It sucks, it’s boring and I’m grateful it’s only sround 30 mins
John Martyn
4/5
Fav: Small Hours
Least Fav: Big Muff
That album cover is beautiful, and I think it accurately reflects the music with the last song being the obvious example
Lou Reed
5/5
Fav: Satellite Of Love
Least Fav: New York Telephone Conversation
Satellite Of Love is my favourite Bowie song
The The
4/5
Fav: This Is The Day
Least Fav: The Twilight Hour
Always appreciate an accordion in a song, so it’s natural I like this album
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
3/5
Fav: I’m Glad
Least Fav: Electricity
Compared to their other album in the list, they sacrificed originality in exchange for being listenable. Probably for the best
Primal Scream
3/5
Fav: Slip Inside This House
Least Fav: Higher Than The Sun (A Dub Symphony In Two Parts) (Feat. Jah Wobble)
The amount of times it suddenly gets interesting just to fade again left me frustrated, and for a band called Primal Scream - why are they not a heavy metal band? The name sounds kinda intense…
Elvis Presley
3/5
Fav: Such A Night
Least Fav: Fever
It’s easy listening, but with nothing standout. Kind of a running theme with his albums imo
Ryan Adams
1/5
Fav: To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To Be High)
Least Fav: Bartering Lines
First song was alright, so I’m annoyed at Ryan Adam’s for making it sound interesting only have that boring country sound that goes nowhere for the rest of the album
5/5
Fav: Miss America
Least Fav: Pressure On Julian
This is a great album no doubt, but I’m puzzled why this is included ahead of 13, which I believe is Blur’s magnum opus. But yes this is a great album with some varied hits, with my favourite being the chill ‘Miss America’
5/5
Fav: Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues
Least Fav: Just Like A Woman
I’d say that with the exception of Just Like A Woman, all of these songs are improvements on the originals. Having an acoustic first half with the electric second half was so a great idea. In the end I’m just surprised how much I enjoyed 90 minutes of Bob Dylan, my past self would be shocked I enjoyed this so much
The Killers
4/5
Fav: All These Things That I’ve Done
Least Fav: Believe Me Natalie
I love this album and it was important in my younger years, but that second half just doesn’t hit nearly as hard as the first half does…
DJ Shadow
4/5
Fav: Stem / Long Stem - Medley
Least Fav: Napalm Brain / Scatter Brain - Medley
Whatever this genre of music is, I want more of it NOW
Dion
4/5
Fav: In And Out Of The Shadows
Least Fav: (He’s Got) The Whole World In His Hands
Always love it when an album is unexpectedly great :)
Fiona Apple
4/5
Fav: For Her
Least Fav: Fetch The Bolt Cutters
What a contrast from her other album on this list, it’s very impressive. Had no idea GarageBand was capable of these sorts of things
ABBA
4/5
Fav: Dancing Queen
Least Fav: Arrival
ABBA are one of my favourite music groups period. Lots of nostalgic bangers from this album but unfortunately the popular ones are bigger than the rest for a reason (they’re a league above) which is a shame as I was hoping for a solid 5 but I’ll settle for a 4 instead. They could never make me hate you ABBA
