Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
First repeat artist!
Turns out all those huge nerds in the 2010s telling me I would love Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were right!
Dug this one, although not as much as Murder Ballads

Paul Simon
3/5
Not super familiar with Simon (or Garfunkel honestly). Thought the album started strong with Mother and Son Reunion and Duncan, but never quite hit those highs again. Enjoyable enough, would listen to more of Simon’s work.
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Hot damn. I was all set to give this 3 or even possibly 2 stars after the first listen. I've never been a big Rolling Stones fan, but was kind of expecting this album to wow me. And that first spin, it just didn't. There were a few songs I enjoyed here and there but it mostly was forgettable. But the second time around? I cranked up the volume and all of a sudden it was like a different album. Standout songs: Wild Horses, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Sister Morphine, Moonlight Mile.
Songhoy Blues
4/5
Never would have listened to or heard of this one without the website. This one was honestly a joy. Relatively contemporary guitar focused rock/blues with catchy beats and good vocals. Their 2017 album Resistance also SLAPS!
Stan Getz
4/5
Hell yeah. Smooth as all hell.
Fiona Apple
4/5
“Her voice is annoying.”
Are y’all high?
Black Sabbath
4/5
“Alright guys. It’s the first song on our first album. Let’s not get too crazy.”
*Single handily invents Doom Metal*
Bob Dylan
4/5
Folksy.
Dinosaur Jr.
3/5
I’ll be this shit would go so hard at The Bronze.
The Isley Brothers
4/5
Jeez, 11th album and you drop this much of a banger? Funky dancing music with some sick guitar mixed in? Hell yeah.
4.5
Mercury Rev
3/5
I have never in my life heard a song like Tonite It Show, where the music sounds like the town theme for a SNES/PS1 era Final Fantasy town, and the vocals/lyrics sound like they’re from a Muppet Movie.
3.5 Stars
Beck
3/5
Certainly some variety here.
OutKast
4/5
Whew! Long as hell but some real catchy songs. Love Below was better.
5/5
My 2004 Dodge Neon ate this CD and for years it was the only album I could listen to.
Five Stars
The Pharcyde
4/5
Never heard of these guys before but this sounds like 90s hip hop distilled down to its essence, poorly aged lyrics and all.
Would listen again.
Megadeth
4/5
Wake up Dead and Peace Sells are classic Megadeth, but the rest of the album isn’t quite as strong. An extra star for being still very listenable, but it’s no Rust In Peace.
Miles Davis
3/5
Nothing bad about it, but nothing that stood out too much either.
Stevie Wonder
5/5
Honestly Superstition alone might make this five stars, but fortunately the rest of the album is also a bop.
The Byrds
2/5
Yeah chief this just ain’t it. I’ve never been a big country fan, but wondered if maybe the problem was I was mostly exposed to post 9/11 country. Maybe the old shit would be better, more like good folk music with more soul. Then I hit something like “The Christian Way” and I honestly don’t know if I’m listening to a parody song it’s so on the nose.
First 2 star review.
Raekwon
3/5
Gonna need to give this one more listens. Love me some Wu Tang and this scratched the itch.
3.5 stars.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
I mean this in the absolute best way possible, this sounds like an album for of Disney Villain songs.
4.5 stars
The Temptations
3/5
Will listen to more.
3.5
Parliament
4/5
Cmon man, it’s Parliament. It’s Funk personified.
4.5 stars.
Paul McCartney
3/5
Eh. Kinda half baked. Maybe I’m Amazed is great but otherwise forgettable.
Adam & The Ants
4/5
Never heard of these dudes and while the cover art is beyond cursed, I really dug this album.
3/5
Pleasant enough to listen to but not my favorite.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
4/5
First repeat artist!
Turns out all those huge nerds in the 2010s telling me I would love Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were right!
Dug this one, although not as much as Murder Ballads
The Prodigy
4/5
The Associates
3/5
Started fairly strong but lost me in the back half.
3.5 stars.
The Beta Band
3/5
There’s some interesting sounds on here but they don’t always quite take them interesting places. Maybe a 2.76 stars but much better than the garbage Byrds country album y’all made me listen to.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
3/5
Never listened to Costello before. Some song that sounded similar but also some honest to god bangers.
Hugh Masekela
4/5
Awwww yeah smooth as all hell. Maybe my favorite jazz album of the ones I’ve listened to thus far
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
This is probably Neil Young’s best album. The trio of Cinnamon Girl, Down by the River, and Cowgirl in the Sand is truly impossible to beat.
4.5 stars.
James Brown
3/5
Love James Brown. Not my favorite live album but the dude had it.
3.5 stars.
Screaming Trees
4/5
Hell yeah.
The Divine Comedy
3/5
I really did not like the opening minute of this album, but as it went on it redeemed itself, and it honestly has some pretty good tunes.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
4/5
Smooth as butter.
Pearl Jam
4/5
Man, the Big Four of Grunge are so good. Maybe the only knock on this album is it’s a little top heavy, with the post Jeremy songs not being as strong, but cmon, that first half is godly.
4.5 stars.
Johnny Cash
4/5
The Black Keys
4/5
These guys have been one of my blind spots, can’t deny it.
Beatles
3/5
Dang. It turns out even early mid Beatles are pretty damn good. Not nearly as inspired as their post Revolver output, but you can see the flashes of where they will go in the not too distant future.
3.5 Stars
Jack White
3/5
The Rolling Stones
3/5
Enjoyable and lots of songs I hadn’t heard before, but not as strong as the last Stones album.
Linkin Park
2/5
I can appreciate what they were going for 20 years ago, and there’s time when it works, but this album just ain’t very good. Linkin Park is better than their meme reputation, but in other ways they’re like if Simple Plan was a little bit heavier.
2.5 Stars
The Black Crowes
3/5
1990 but sounds right out of the late 60s/70s. Don’t get the fools saying this sounds overly southern? It’s just a good time, man.

Deep Purple
3/5
For some reason I’d always thought Machine Head was their debut album. This may not be as strong as that, but even hear you can hear the echoes of Metal starting to come forth. Child in Time feels like it could’ve come out decades later and been contemporary.
3.5 Stars.
The Mothers Of Invention
3/5
One of the least enjoyable last 3 minutes or so of an album I’ve had. The rest was fine.
2.75 Stars
Burning Spear
3/5
Billy Bragg
3/5
Just folksy enough without being too goddamn country. If you’re gonna make a song called “Christ for President” at least make it musically interesting. And dammit, they did.
Beastie Boys
3/5
Beatles
5/5
Easy fiver are you kidding me.
The Abbey Road Medley might be one of the most transcendent stretches of music ever recorded. And to get to it you have to go through Come Together, Oh! Darling, I Want You (Shes So Heavy), and Here Comes the Sun. Darn, what a nightmare.
And the craziest thing it isn’t even the best Beatles Album (Revolver).
4/5
Never been a huge U2 fan, but this has a nice sound.
Björk
3/5
Brian Wilson
4/5
RIP to one of the greats
Billy Joel
4/5
Before listening: Billy Joel? I mean I’ve liked the stuff I’ve heard from him alright but eh, not the most excited I’ve been for an album.
After listening: damn. BJ got hands.
Green Day
5/5
Getting to see Green Day perform this live in full probably fixed me.
Robert Wyatt
3/5
My wife made fun of this album as we drove to hopefully our new home.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
3/5
Not my favorite seed.
Liz Phair
3/5
This was certainly an album. Not unpleasant, enjoyable at times, but never became something great.
Curtis Mayfield
4/5
Oh hell yeah. This one ruled. Smooth as a mofo.
Patti Smith

George Jones

I think this album is hard carried by the fact that he has a pretty nice voice. Instrumentally, this is chock full of country twang that grinds my gears.

Missy Elliott
4/5
AC/DC
4/5
Do a lot of AC/DC songs sound similar? Yeah. Does it matter when they often sound like bangers? Sometimes. Are their multiple incredible hits on here? Hell yeah.
Elliott Smith
4/5
I’m not a die hard Elliott Smith fan, but this just feels like an artist who came into his own so immediately that it’s a shame he left so soon.
4.5
Neil Young
3/5
Not my favorite Young. Doesn’t have the oomph of some of his best.

Opening song went hard but then didn’t hit those highs again.

The Beau Brummels
2/5
So this is what Bob Dylan music would sound like if he wasn’t one of the best song writers ever.
This album wasn’t bad, but I almost skipped the goddamn Nine Pound Hammer song because that incessant pounding was literally giving me a headache. Coming up on 100 albums and I’ve never been compelled to skip a song before, so that’s just gotta knock you down.
2.5 stars. Still better than Sweetheart of the Rodeo
Radiohead
4/5
Hail to the Thief is a combination of some of Radiohead’s best (2+2=5, There There, and A Wolf at the Door) with some of the most eh filler this side of Amnesiac. Still, the hits are so great that it drags this album up to 4 Stars.
Dire Straits
4/5
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
3/5
Ryan Adams
2/5
Music wasn’t terrible but -1 for apparently being a sex pest.
The War On Drugs

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five

Talking Heads

Despite being a huge prog fan back in the day, I never really got into Genesis. I don’t know why! Once again those nerds were right.
Sigur Rós

I do not dislike these songs but I don’t think most of them needed to be 7-10 minutes. But what do I know, I’m not Icelandic
Sam Cooke

Vol 4 is probably the early Ozzy Sabbath album I’ve listened to the least. I don’t think it’s as strong as their self titled or Paranoid, but any album with Supernaut on it is pretty damn great.
