I had never heard of Dusty Springfield, but I recognized at least four of her songs from radio and movies. Her voice is so full and buttery, I can't imagine how hard it would be to sing all these songs back-to-back at a live performance. This was my first album of the 1001, great way to start the journey.
I enjoyed the richness of the singer's voice and the darker undertones and themes.
I have never been a fan of Metallica but I have to admit, the band is talented- even if metal is not my style.
No lyrics, but interesting enough jazz to keep my attention. Miles Davis was beyond talented and a prolific musician. I enjoyed this album though it is not my usual style. Glad I jammed it!
I had never heard of Common before and didn't recognize any of the songs but there were a few I really enjoyed. There were biblical themes and several songs showing this came out in 2005. Not my favorite, but glad I gave it a shot.
Classic. Easy to listen to and be Jammin'!
This album had many sad undertones I found myself relating to even if I prefer upbeat and happy to escape my own pain. It felt like a sixties album released in the 90s. Very unique.
I have never been a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers so I hadn't listened to any songs not played on the radio. My first impression was a jamming bass line an there's way more funk than I thought there would be. The music videos were more psychedelic than expected.
I am definitely stupider after listening to "Apache Rose Peacock".
I had never heard of T.Rex. I think my parents were too old to know them and I was too young. However, the album was a fun jam. I didn't recognize any of the songs, but I recognized the sound of a fun jamming this band.
I really enjoyed the song, "They are Night Zombies!! They are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhh!" and listened to it multiple times. I can see this album growing on me, though the random underlying references to biblical teachings are off-putting.
This album is.. chefs kiss. I will be listening to it again. So romantic, intimate, and sultry. The four women song is thought provoking and greatly challenged the thoughts on women in the 1950s. I loved every second of this album and have suggested it to multiple people.
I thoroughly enjoyed this album. PJ Harvey's energy comes through and I particularly liked the first song starting soft and then going hard out of no where. It set the tone for the rest of the album.
Synthesizers! Synthesizers everywhere. Did this guy start the eighties synth craze? Random was appropriately named! I enjoyed the cover of On Broadway, but overall, not my style. I can see how this album influenced many artists and am glad I listened to it.
I enjoyed the synth mixed with rock, though many of the songs sounded alike. They definitely have an identifiable sound.
Classic album with Piece of my Heart being a song I was raised with. I can't imagine what music Janice would have created if she had lived longer, but thank goodness she recorded what she did. Her voice is so unique and easily identifiable. Tragic end to a talented musician. As for the album, I loved it. Great album through and through.
I can not count the number of times I have listened to this album. I was raised on the Beatles and my favorite songs have evolved as I age. An Octipus's Garden and Maxwell's Silver Hammer were childhood favorites, while as an adult I have fallen in love with Carry that Weight and Goodbye. I would say the hardest part is picking your favorite. I am tempted to stop at this album for a few weeks and just consume it.
Some bangers from my youth, but some of the songs were really hard to listen to- like Rollin' and Scratchin' and Rock'n Roll. Some of the sounds in are really grating! I powered through, but dang!! Not a bad album to listen to while doing my homework - over all, good energy.
I didn't recognize any of the songs and am surprised my dad didn't play this for me, as it is his style and from his favorite music period. I wish he was still alive so I could ask him about it. The Unfaithful Servant was my favorite from the album.
Unique sound, but nothing grabbed my attention. I do tend to enjoy Indie, but there wasn't a song on here that hooked me.
This sound is iconic. I don't think I have ever heard it, but I have heard countless songs inspired by it. I love the story-telling! "Big Iron" got me right out the gate, but I really like "In the Valley" too. I feel like my Grandma played this many years ago. I want to listen to this on a road trip!
Countless movie soundtracks and commercials. This music has been everywhere. I was even reminded of Butt-Head wearing an AC DC shirt. Though I have never listened to the album before, I knew every song. There is a reason this is the second best selling album of all time.
I am not going to lie- the short shorts really threw me. I had no idea what the lead singer looked like and I would not have guessed that voice came from that body.
Who could possibly dislike, "Rock and Roll ain't Noise Pollution"!?!?
Starts strong with a great bass line. Very catchy and has underlying punk-rock sounds while mixing with the synthetic styles coming into the 1980s.
The confidence to go out and make exactly the music they wanted is amazing. His voice has quite a range. I believe in a Thing Called Love takes me right back to college. Otherwise, glam rock isn't really my thing.
I did not know I was familiar with the Cars. There were only two songs I didn't know all the lyrics to.
Only 9 songs?? and seven of them were big enough bangers I knew them from the radio? This album came our years before I was born. Great album. I am adding it to my regular rotation. It plays like a Greatest Hit's album.
I loved the organ- I have never heard an organ used in jazz and it takes years to learn how to play an organ. Such a cool and unexpected sound, I had to look up what instrument he was using. Very smooth and nice to listen to while I study.
I was excited to jam this album as I have enjoyed the Blitzkrieg Bop in movies, commercials, and on the radio my entire life. The album as a whole felt one dimensional with little differentiating the songs. The Ramones had a distinctive sound, but I fear it was the only sound they could make.
I like the way the music builds using both instruments and voice. The lyrics were thought provoking- I would definitely listen to this album again.
I enjoyed this one- I found myself rocking out while I worked. A few songs stuck out to me and I could see listening to it again and it growing on me.
The best song was the last one- What's with Terry. Very catchy.
Oh Boy! Great album. I knew a few of the songs, but it really transported me back to my grandparents house.
I enjoyed it. I have heard of Elvis Costello many times but did not recognize any of his music. It was rocking!
Not my style but I really enjoyed it. I like how clearly he rapped so I could understand everything that was said- you can tell he made sure to annunciate with intentionality. Not a Fan of Da Bitchez, but it was kinda catchy, lol. "Bitch!" This album definitely throws me back to early '90s rap.
...I can't be sure, but I think this guy might be from Brooklyn.
I had hear Bang a Gong before and I enjoyed Life's a Gas. This is my second T.Rex album and before listening to these albums I had never heard of the band.
This album is a classic. I love the guitar and bluesy feel. I can practically smell the marijuana smoke in the air while I listen to it. I could jam this album over and over again!
His voice was a bit off at first, but it grew on me. I recognized Southern Man and enjoyed the piano in the Birds. I see why this was on the list of classics.
Her voice sounds like a flute. I was really impressed with her lyricism- I couldn't help but be drawn into her music as it demanded my full attention.
I really enjoy the singer's accent and the Celtic folk sound. Combining this with all the different instruments builds a unique sound I really enjoyed.
This isn't my style, but I am really enjoying the melodies. Apparently D'Angelo died 7 days ago (10/14/2025)?!? Fuck Cancer!
Me and Those Dreamin' Eyes of Mine was excellent.
I still did not recognize any of the songs, but it was enjoyable. I liked the last two songs the best. Waiting for the End of the World had a great swing sound to it.
I really liked You Would Know. Several of the songs caught my attention and were jammin! I had heard of this band before, but not listened to an album. It definitely threw me back to high school.
I am super disappointed there aren't any women in Queens of the Stone Age.
I really enjoyed this album. the lyrics were both silly and profound.
Very poetic and can hit just right when you are in the right headspace for this album.
Classic! His voice is like butter! His music always reminds me of my grandparents.
Lively beat and very different style of music than I have ever listened to before. I enjoyed how different this was from everything else I have heard through this project.
I love the flute! Not enough artists incorporate this amazing instrument.
In some ways their sound reminds me of the Allman Brother's- high praise as it was my father's favorite band. They are definitely jamming and I want to listen to this album again.
I had no idea Perfect Day was by Lou Reed. Such an amazing song! Immediate flash-back to Trainspotting.
Walk on the Wild Side is another I have heard and remember listening to with my dad.
"...and maybe we will have all the fascists' out of the way by then."
Great album! Will jam again!
As a matter of fact, I already did. I jammed this one back-to-back.
I really enjoy the energy and the emotion of the music and the emotion in his voice. I love the blues themes.
Ol' Man River is a favorite of mine. Overall, great album.
I do enjoy songs that tell a story. The Seventh Seal gets pretty dark.
He has a beautiful voice! I particularly enjoyed Get Behind Me. He is such a romantic!
Great album. I liked the new music video for Psycho Killer. I had heard of the Talking Heads, but never jammed them before.
Wow- this album sets the tone right from the start. The songs and her voice are hypnotizing. I really enjoyed Modern Kosmology- I see why they named the album after this track.
The first few songs were really jamming. Aumgn went off the deep end with some psychedelic moaning
His voice is very pitchy. The beat was good, but overall the songs were hard to listen to.
I love the xylophone! I want to learn to play the xylophone so bad! There is never enough xylophone in music.
I really enjoyed listening to this while I worked.
I can hear how this band influenced so many punk bands. I am a punker at heart and thoroughly enjoyed the album.
Catchy. Not really my style, but it was catchy. I remember when this album came out and some of the music videos really took me back to my youth.
Que' Onda Guero was auditorily stimulating and kept my attention. Hell Yes is a combination of rock and techno with a killer baseline.
I am not on enough drugs (any) to enjoy this music, though there are some times from my youth I would have been down for a rave with this music playing. It was great to jam with headphones on while I got my work done. I did share with a friend who loves this type of music and he gave it a solid thumbs up.
This guy sure can roll his "r"s. The song Amsterdam has such passion- even though I can't understand French, I can feel the emotion. Very well done!
Meh. It was rather melancholy and not really matching my mood. I can see a time and a place for this, but I have other music I jam when I am depressed.
At first I really didn't like it as she was off key a few times, but her style really grew on me as I jammed the album. By the end, I was suggesting her to other people to give a listen.
I enjoyed how different this was from other albums but not really by cup of tea. The last song was my favorite-um Gosto de SOL.
I really enjoyed Pale Blue Eyes- very catching and I found myself singing along with it even during the first listen. The Murder Mystery Song was excellent. I miss the days of artist being free to bring politics and societal issues into their music.
I really enjoyed this album. I haven't jammed Christina Aguilera outside of what I heard on the radio back in the day. I really enjoyed several of the songs on this album and would enjoy jamming again.
Okay, I have heard Nirvana cover Plateau, Oh, Me, and Lake of Fire, but it sounded better. What a trip back to my youth!
It is very hard to listen to this guy sing off key, but it somehow makes the songs more interesting to listen to. I can't decide if I like it or hate it.
I just don't like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Whiny. Listening to the full album was hard. I liked this one less than the first one I listened to, "Blood Sugar Sex Magik".
Very catchy! This is the first ska sound I have heard, but the album has a ton of different sounds. I love the combination. Bonin' in the Boneyard was especially enjoyable.
Slow Bus Movin' was very fun and unique- a completely different sound than the other songs.
Massive Attack is special! I enjoyed this album. It is a great combination of hip hop and soul!
Her voice is so rich and emotional. I really enjoyed the album, even though it is far outside my normal jam. Her version of House of the Rising Sun was haunting.
This is the sound track of my youth. Not because I was alive when it came out, but because my dad loved rock and roll from the 60s.
I love how the guitars just sing! I had a 6 month period in my 20s where I listened to Led Zeppelin exclusively- it was awesome!
"The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm!" - thank you, Blood Hound Gang!
Mullets- mullets everywhere!
But seriously, I have never jammed an album of Def Leopard's before. haha- butt rock! Glad I listened, but can't say I enjoyed it.
Her voice is mesmerizing. I really enjoyed how We Carry on built up- very rhythmic. I am starting to understand what Trip Hop is... Some of it is a bit TOO experimental for me, but overall, I really enjoyed it.
VERY '70s. chic cheer and le freak are both songs I recognize. They are the quintessential sounds of the '70s.
I enjoyed Trash. Ironically, I grew up listening to a lot of punk rock, but I fear I have outgrown this genre.
I love Tom Petty. I never got to see him live but would have greatly enjoyed his show.
Girlfriend in a Coma is a weird song! I can think of a few people I would send Unhappy Birthday to. lol
I really like rap you can understand. I recognized Flavor Flav and didn't realize he was from Public Enemy. This might be the first time I have ever heard Public Enemy. Some of the sounds are getting pretty annoying.
This hits hard. I enjoy being able to understand the lyrics and none of the beats have annoying sounds being repeated like some of the other rap beats. Surprisingly, I listened to this one twice. I would jam again.
Abba= classic. I really enjoyed the Broadway musical they made with their music. Dancing Queen. Money, Money, Money. Fernando. Need I say more?
He whistles! Great album I had never jammed in holistically before. What a shame we lost him so young.
