Starting off strong.
3.5/5
“The Thin White Duke” - pretty funny.
3/5
The Who sound pretty great live.
3.5/5
Production: great. Skits: horrendous.
3/5
Practically a Greatest Hits for AC/DC. Fun listen.
3.5/5
This Louis is indeed King Louie from the Jungle Book. Pretty neat.
3/5
Decent, put pretty samey by the end.
3.5/5
Utterly insane final track.
3/5
A tad long and lacking cohesion. An odyssey nonetheless.
3.5/5
Good britpop. Extra points for album cover going so hard.
4/5
Confused by this albums inclusion at all. Pretty forgettable.
2/5
Twink album cover to lure one in was a clever move. Some interesting stuff happening in here obscured by the rest of the album.
2.5/5
Decent. Stray Cat Blues is seriously cringe.
3.5/5
The shrieky vocals start to grate by the last third of this album, at least for me anyways.
3.5/5
I was already not really in the mood to hear an album like this. But what happens around the 12th minute of the second track had me so baffled, I had to end the listening experience right then and there. Yikes.
1/5
A pleasant listening experience, certainly. I had no idea of the controversy surrounding this albums creation until now. Has ‘You Can Call Me Al” on it too. Much to consider.
3/5
Awful, cheesy, milquetoast garbage. Even the well known anthems have become annoying instaskips at this point.
1/5
Was expecting a bit more.
3.5/5
Was not expecting to enjoy this at all but was pleasantly surprised. A bit long and samey.
3/5
Meh. Solid first track.
2/5
I really didn’t need to listen to a whole album of ZZ Top - that much is certain.
1.5/5
Live prog rock stuff.
3/5
Dreadful. Praying that this the worst inclusion in the list.
0.5/5
Better than the global average would have you believe.
3.5/5
Pink Floyd’s first album is a bit of a blueprint of what was yet to come. A couple of outright nonsense tracks bring the score down a tad.
3.5/5
I Want To Take You Higher a clear standout.
2.5/3
Couldn’t help but enjoy this quite a bit.
3.5/5
Why is This Album on the List - part #8.
2/5
Passable. Don’t know why it’s on the list.
2.5/5
I always thought Santana was the guitarist, not the band. Turns out it’s both. Great album, definitely worth a revisit.
4/5
Stoked this made the list. 10/10 album cover.
4/5
Too funny to be anything less than a 4. Did not age badly just because you said so.
4/5
Close to being the elusive first 5.
4.5/5
Decent album offering from a band I thought was more of a Greatest Hits specialist.
3.5/5
21 minutes long. A bad recording that is 90% weighted to one speaker/headphone. Definitely not required listening by any metric.
2/5
Being a childhood car trip staple counts for something I guess.
3.5/5
Hard not to draw a parallel between Television and The Strokes. Not complaining.
4/5
Killer arrangements. Get this off the list.
0/5
Feeling a strong 7 to a light 8 on this one.
4/5
So much more here than just one, ridiculously overplayed song. Sam’s Town better though, sorry not sorry.
4/5
I have no idea why I listened to the whole thing - but I did. And I’m not really sure why I enjoyed it - but I kind of did.
3.5/5
Underrated start to an elite discography. 19-2000 remix might be one of my favourite remixes of all time.
4.5/5
It’s rock rap so yeah. Idk.
3/5
Had zero expectations going into this but was pleasantly surprised. A strong 3.5.
3.5/5
Was expecting a little more.
3.5/5
The Band (The Band) made some Music (Music).
2.5/5
Do I recognise that I enjoyed this album because it’s considered the creative peak in a long and storied career? Or do I recognise that this album is considered the creative peak in a long and storied career because I enjoyed it?
4/5
Delightfully weird.
3.5/5
My first 5, and it couldn’t be any simpler. One of the greatest rap records ever made, from one of the greatest rappers of all time. A perfect mix of hip-hop bangers and thought-provoking storytelling. And Sing About Me is one of the greatest songs ever made. What more is there to say.
5/5
Weird man, weird views, weird tracks with weird lyrics.
2.5/5
I have no thoughts.
2.5/5
All I know is that Nas did a NASty freestyle over Not Paid Enough. Adding a point for that I guess.
3/5
Harmonica On Harmonica. Death Grips reference.
3.5/5
Such a solid hip-hop album. Black Thought is a top 5 MC all-time. Hoping Things Fall Apart makes the list, that shit is probably getting a 5.
4/5
There is better jazz. I’m sorry.
3/5
Considered a classic, and for good reason.
4/5
What the dawg doin?
3.5/5
Can’t take this one seriously, because:
1. Vocals sounds ridiculous
2. French 🤮
1.5/5
It’s the kind of album where Dylan’s voice and the harmonica wear a bit thin by the end.
3/5
Solid effort here from Bruce.
3.5/5
Has to be heard to be believed - completely baffled by this album’s inclusion. Utter nonsense.
1/5
Smooth lounge jazz.
3.5/5
Drags on too long. And it’s not even a long album.
2.5/5
Putting aside my own personal feeling that not every track on this one is a 10/10, this album is simply too important, too influential to be anything less than a 5. The rough production style pairs perfectly with the albums dark and gritty atmosphere, as well as with the humorous tounge-in-cheek bars from the various members of the Clan. A lightning in a bottle moment from rap’s most notorious supergroup.
5/5
I fw some Neil Young.
3.5/5
Feel like I’ve underrated this one a tad until now. A very solid offering from the Beatles - but the best was yet to come.
4.5/5
Some 12 years ago, for reasons I cant quite remember, I decided I wanted to listen to the best rap albums of all time. After entering that prompt into Google, this album was the first result. I downloaded it before a trip to Europe, and ended up listening to it front to back at least 20 times. So it’s not just one of the greatest jazz rap albums of all time - to me, it’s the album that made me completely reevaluate how I listen to music.
5/5
Very palatable country rock.
4/5
Thought it was fine.
3.5/5
I never really quite got the hype around Adele. Send My Love really took me out because a) I didn’t even realise it was an Adele song and b) it’s inclusion in this album, as second track no less, is honestly baffling. Having said all that, there are some very poignant, emotional moments to be found throughout the album.
3.5/5
Yeah nah this is fucking awesome.
4/5
A pleasant inclusion.
3/5
Kind of enjoyed this one, more than expected.
3.5/5
Some decent new wave bangers here imo.
3/5
Absolutely baffling how underrated this album is (at least on this site). Are people listening to albums on this list in a complete vacuum? That being said, pretty cool hearing the vocal parts that would ultimately be sampled on Death Grips - The Powers That B. I don’t think Vulnicura had even been released yet, meaning they technically sampled an album from the future. Something in that.
4/5
Didn’t need to hear this right now, Jesus wept.
3.5/5
Time After Time still a classic if a bit cheesy. Unfortunately that cheesiness is pretty prevalent across the rest of this album.
2/5
It’s always quite exciting when you come across an Artist and Album you’ve never heard of. Then you listen to it and you sort of realise why.
2.5/5
Some essential salsa.
3.5/5
This is pretty fine, the hits hit and it doesn’t overstay its welcome.
3.5/5
Just finished, maybe one to return to.
3/5
Pretty amusing to come across not 1, but 2 all time classic tracks and realise you never actually knew who the artist was of said tracks. And then the rest of the album is great as well.
4/5
Ethereal and minimalistic.
3.5/5
Bang average with some annoying vocals.
2.5/5
When he was asked how it felt to have predicted the future on Ok Computer, Thom Yorke pretty nonchalantly remarked that they “just looked at what was happening at the time”. There are many reasons I would consider this album a masterpiece - the fact that it has aged so well being one of them. It’s an album that holds the rare distinction of somehow living up to all of the praise it has received over the years. To me, it’s an album that has a great deal of personal significance, and it’s an album I’ll aways keep coming back to. In an album constructed exclusively of top tier tracks, I’ll just call out Let Down, for its ability to emotionally devastate every single time. What a special album.
5/5
Is it ground-breaking and brilliant - or is it abysmal dogshit? Somewhere in the middle of Sister Ray, I figured out which one it’s closer to.
2/5
Is this the Americans attempt at ripping off the Beatles or something? Inoffensive and a bit bland.
2.5/5
Nick Drake hell yeah. Hoping Pink Moon makes it but if it doesn’t, I’m happy this one did.
4.5/5
Don’t think I’d ever actually listened to this one front to back. One of the most distinctive/memorable album covers of all time just quietly.
3.5/5
Hating this band as Radiohead-ripoff dogshit feels a bit overdone at this point. I do have quite a bit of love for this album and the two that followed it - but coming back to this one, I feel like some of the criticisms are pretty valid. Still a classic to me though.
4/5
I appreciate this albums inclusion, but yeah - it’s an hour of someone playing the sitar.
3/5
Plenty of MJ bangers to be found here.
3.5/5
An experience that simply has to be seen (and unfortunately heard) to be believed. From the unhinged album name (to pair with the equally ridiculous artist name), to the album cover, to the actual “music” itself. Nothing I could say really does it any justice. The crazy thing is, there is some good stuff in here. And the Butthole Surfers are fully capable of making great music - look no further then “Who Was in My Room Last Night” from their 1993 album Independent Worm Saloon.
3.5/5
When you buy your gal/dame that fancy doodad she’s been wanting.
3/5
Foundational ambient album, a criminally underrated genre. Brilliant, calming, ethereal but at the same time, completely ignorable (Eno’s own words, I believe).
4.5/5
Rips. Booster Justice - very important.
4/5
Short, sharp, noisy.
3.5/5
The selection of modern inclusions is fascinating. Goo pick as far as I’m concerned.
3.5/5
Really not fussed about this either way. Meh.
2.5/5
Whatever. Stupid name for a band honestly.
2.5/5
So nice. A boring descriptive word but this album really is so nice.
4/5
My opinion remains the same as it alway has - not even a top 5 Kanye album and the reputation this album has garnered over time kind of baffles me. Plenty of highs, but plenty of mid tracks and even some shitters. Monster is easily one of the worst tracks in Kanye’s catalogue. Still a solid album, it’s Kanye after all. But not a masterpiece by any metric.
3.5/5
It’s a great album and Comfortably Numb is one of the greatest songs ever made. But there are (I assume) 3 albums to come from Pink Floyd that I think are better.
4/5
Absolutely based inclusion. Not sure how it’s possible for anyone to rate this album lower than a 4 after hearing that opening track, but whatever.
4/5
Decent enough. Bros got a boner - better make a song about it.
2.5/5
Super solid hit-out from Blondie.
4/5
Bullshit hillbilly vampire nonsense.
1.5/5
Went into this one with full intention to give it a 5 and write a long review. But to my surprise, that’s not where I land with his album. It’s undeniably a hip hop classic, but it’s a bit too long and the skits are truly awful. However, I can confidently say that Biggie at his best is just about as good as it gets, on tracks like Juicy, Big Poppa and Who Shot Ya?
4.5/5
It’s fine, but ultimately forgettable.
3/5
There are no words that can describe the mix of feelings I had when tracks like Porcelain and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad played. This is an album that was an absolute staple of the car trip rotation and so it will always be an album that stays with me.
4/5
So yeah uhhhh Big Muff, sure, why not.
3/5
Doesn’t sound dusty at all.
3.5/5
Probably more enjoyable if you were actually there.
2/5
We stan Kate Bush in this household, pt. 1.
4/5
