Have never been a big AC/DC fan. This album isn't bad, just not for me. It's mainly the grating vocals. I don't mind them in small doses, but a whole album is too much. 2.5/5. The grooves and musicianship are the only redeeming qualities for me.
From AC/DC to Van Halen. This is so much more fun and enjoyable. At 33 minutes, this album flies by. Don't love the David Lee Roth "owww!"s, but it doesn't stop me from appreciating this album for what it is. Panama is my favorite track. Hot for Teacher is too cheesy, but the instrumentals are worth the ride, to say the least. Eddie's guitar sound is iconic. A time capsule of mid 80s rock.
I dig the vibes on this. The vocals and instrumentals compliment each other well. To be honest, I listened while cooking, so I couldn't give proper attention to the lyrics. I'm sure that would have made me enjoy this even more. 3.5.
Lots of bangers on this thing, starting with the opening track "Rolling in the Deep".
I'm pretty lukewarm on Prince in general, but mostly enjoyed this album. It certainly keeps you engaged. 3.5.
I have a soft spot for this kind of music. Its easy listening and often beautiful.
Not a genre I've listened to often or intently, so I don't have much for reference points. I enjoyed this well enough.
Smooth, funky, soulful greatness. Some of the covers are great, though I prefer the original versions more often than not. 3.75/5
Gritty and classic. So many great songs with no filler and ends with a perfect closer.
Not really my thing, but I can appreciate it for what it is. The menacing vocals were effective but just too much for me when listening to a full album. The thumping bass lines are the biggest highlight for me. 2.5/5.
Amazing vocal harmonies and instrumentation. 3.5/5
Haunting and beautiful. Not something I could listen to often, but I'm very glad I heard it. 3.5.
Not big into Jazz, but I enjoyed this well enough. 3.25/5
Reminds me a lot of The Beatles, Paul McCartney in particular. 3.75
Early grunge goodness, but not something I'd likely revisit. 3.25/5.
I've already listened to this album quite a bit. Lorde's best work so far. I enjoy all the tracks, with Homemade Dynamite and Perfect Places being my favorite songs. 4.25/5.
Not for me. I could enjoy listening to this while working, but just sitting down and putting this on just doesn't hold my attention for long. 2.5/5
An alt pop 90s gem with hits for days. 3.75/5.
An old school hip hop classic. I've heard the big singles, but have never sat and listened to this in full. Channel Zero goes so hard.
The tracks on this album are sprawling and funky. Probably the best instrumental album I've come across on this list so far. 3.75/5.
This was better than I expected. A nice mix of ballads and upbeat tracks. Not sure what makes this album essential listening though. At 20 tracks, running well past an hour, this is bloated. If this was a tight 12ish tracks, I'd round up rather than down. 2.5/5.
I'm very familiar with Beck's discography, so I've heard this album a few times already. Such a fun and interesting listen, with engaging and ever evolving instrumentals and lyrics that are a bit surreal but really paint a picture.
I liked it and can appreciate the level of talent these fellas have. 3.5.
This is good stuff to listen to while working or getting stuff done around the house. 3/5.
It's a fine collection of R&B songs, but I don't see what really sets this apart from anything else. 2.5/5.
Not my favorite Stones album, but still a very good one.
Went into this completely blind. I have a soft spot for 60s psychedelic pop, and this album scratched that itch. 3.25/5.
I've heard her hit singles, but never listened to a full album before. This was more solid than I was expecting. 3/5.
A solid 80s pop album with some big hits. 2.75/5.
So much better than Back in Black. A bit more raw and much more fun. Bon Scott is missed! 3.5/5.
Eh, its ok. Kinda fun, kinda dumb.
What a ride. This album is all over the place, in the best way. At times frantic and odd, at others, melodic and blissful. 4/5.
