Stone cold classic top to bottom. Stands with Bob’s 60s classics.

Saw the perform on late night tv and immediately headed to buy this cd. It’s been huge in my life since. Absolutely 5 stars for me. Still a regular in my rotation.

I can see the vocals are good and some of the lyrics too, but many of the lyrics are very cringey. The music is nice, but nothing amazing.

This album is truly a 4.5 for me. It’s an amazing double album. One of Elton’s finest. So many styles.

It’s a meh for me. Very dated to the time period. There are some flashes of brilliance, but it’s just monotonous to me.

Perfect example of why I participate. Not an album I’d wake up one morning and choose, but it was nice. We all know the big hits, but the whole album is well done. George is a good writer and a great vocalist. RIP George.

As a Gen Xer I am famous and truly appreciate this band an album. The cornerstone of a lot of music I love.

One of the last incredible U2 albums. Experimental, but accessible. Huge tour with this one. Nearly essential

Not bad, but very dated in a not so flattering way. Can’t take away from Neneh’s voice though.

Best of the “early” Beatles. All songs written by John and Paul and all excellent!

Phenomenal album of course. I bought it the day it came out as a pay-what-you-want fee. I paid $9 and it was worth way more.

Oh, the infamous Dan. Very divisive it’s seems. I’ve never done a deep dive, but very familiar with the radio plays and it never really grabbed my attention. But, this project is forcing me to do deeper dives, which is why I love it. Very good and considering buying on vinyl!

A good one today. Of course I love Sam. He’s one of the all time great voices and one that was cut too short. I know the studio recordings, but never heard the live stuff, but this is excellent too.

I’m a Cure fan. I know this one is well loved by most fans, but for me it is average in their discography. Still good though.

I was between a 3 and a 4 so I rounded up. It’s ok. Very bloated with lots of fluff but there are real high points too.

Easy 4. Amazing man amazing musician. Loaded with hits and also the song (Darlin’ Nikki) that made Tipper Gore mad and led to the explicit stickers.

A middle of the pack talking heads album is still better than most bands best album.

I know giving this one 4 stars and not 5 is a hot take. I understand it’s beauty and what Brian put into it. That said, 5 stars are reserved for such a rare amount of albums that it just falls short for me.

Meh. It’s ok. I grew up with my parents listening to Chicago and even have seen the live twice. Good musicians, don’t get me wrong. The hits and solid. The rest is too long and that guitar feedback part is just terrible.

Shit sandwich. I am a very open to all music. I tried and made it through, but it was tough.

Great voice. Songs that aren’t memorable though.

Wasn’t sure what to expect and I loved it I appreciate jazz and keep growing an interest in it and this was the perfect soundtrack to begin my work day. Added to my list of vinyl to buy.

It was ok. I’m a huge fan of 60s rock and definitely familiar with these guys. It sounds promising.. equal parts Dylan and Beatles, but doesn’t approach either in quality or timeliness.

I was the perfect age when this came out….8th grade. Made a huge impression. I can remember the first time I ever saw the “Teen Spirit”video. Easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You know what? I enjoyed this. I knew the hits but the other songs were good too. Time After Time is an all timer. Fun album. I had Britney Spears debut last week and this one blows it away.

Is it sloppy? Yes. Is the singing and musicianship good? No. But that’s the point. The messages would not be the same played by Julliard students. Much respect for inspiring a lot of musicians and albums I love.

Meh. Not sure I had to hear this in my life. Too long. Some of these guitar stuff was interesting at least.

Absolute classic. Sounds good today, but in its time it was mind blowing. Sadly some of the things talked about are still issues today. First album so far in the project where I’ve added the album to my vinyl wish list.

Can’t lie. At an hour run time this was a tough listen. Very dated and also bloated with skits. Missy upped her game later, but this particular time effort is not worthy of this list.

An amazing album form a person some considered washed at the time of this release. Not only did it change that opinion, I’d consider this a top ten Dylan album of all time. That’s saying a lot.

🐐 album by one of my 🐐 artist. Elliott at peak form and he’s one of a kind. Not a weak moment on this one. Listened today watching a sunrise and sipping ☕️. Pure sad bliss.

This album had lots of hype when it came out. I tried several times and shrugged each listen. Why couldn’t I get the hype? It’s fine. Just not for me. I like Frank’s voice but this isn’t something I come back to ever. That’s said, his follow up album “Blonde” is an album I like a lot.

You know what, it’s a fun one to start the morning. I was a little familiar with Adam, particularly the song “Goodie Two Shoes”. It may not be Abbey Road, but it has a small place in my heart. Sold 3, but definitely from a very specific period of time.

4 1/2 ⭐️. Warm album. Classic tunes. The great Levon Helm. Yeah this is a classic.

2 days in a row with a female voice and I’m here for it. This time is Siouxsie. Been aware of her and heard her Dear Prudence cover which is great. Never heard a full album, but love this a lot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I…. Like this a lot. Somewhat familiar with a few tunes before. More penetrable than Trout Mask and I still think I’ll learn more as I listen more. 4 stars now and maybe a 4 1/2 with a little more time.

That this came out in 1978 (a year before I was born) is something. Listen to it with ears from that era. People had to be confused, interested, apalled or so many other things and that’s what great albums do. Extremely influential to what would come in the 80s.

Weird to have kraftwerk on back to back days. I prefer their 1978 offering to this one, but this is still good.

Never heard of them before, but I like this a lot so far. Wouldn’t call it dance music, but it’s very soothing and envelopes one in calmness. I want to listen to it on a drive at nighttime. Added to my Apple Music collection! 🇳🇴

Beatles fan for over 36 years. For the majority of that time I’d say this is my top Beatles album. It’s still up there and battles with Abbey Road for me. It’s amazing that the young guys wrote songs like Eleanor Rigby or Here,There and Everywhere or Tomorrow Never Knows. Leaps and bounds from the more straightforward pop of just a year or two prior. The progression on their short career is astounding.

It’s a damn good album. Top 10 Beatles solo easily. Maybe top five. Plastic Ono Band edges it for John.

Stone cold classic. Woke up a generation and pushed the Beatles lyrically. What more can one ask for from an album?

I was somewhat familiar with this seeing as it came out the year I graduated high school. There is a lot I like here and I feel this is one that would keep growing with more listens. Love that it popped up on this list to give me a fresh listen.

I was the perfect age when this album came out. I was not ready for it. I knew Closer and Hurt but didn’t appreciate its beauty…yes beauty. Reznor is a genius and I don’t use that word lightly. Here we are 30 something years later and he blew the younger acts away at Coachella and is making fresh musical and scoring soundtracks for Hollywood. Not an easy listen, but an essential one.

Rough one for me. I made it through. This is just not my genre.

I like Prince a lot. Probably my third fave album of his after 1999 and Purple Rain

I’ll start by saying I love David Bowie. I’ll next say that I’ll stick with Bowie and not what I’d nearly a cover band. Not sure why this is essential and also where is “All the Young Dudes” at least?

It’s a good queen album. It’s not their best.

Yeahhhh…. I absolutely appreciate what the Pistols did in rock history. PiL? Not so much.

Easy 4. Contains perhaps my fave Stones’ song in “Wild Horses”. Iconic tunes and iconic cover.

Winwood has a great voice. But there are so many better albums of a similar style from this error. 3 for me. **umm. Vagabond Virgin??***. What in the Jeffrey Epstein is this song?

Hell yeah. Great album. This has it all. Funk and grooves and a cohesive message that’s important all while being a soundtrack. Incredible.

Shit. From a butt. A few cool guitar licks, but this does nothing for me.

20 years ago I had a friend that loved SJ and talked about them all the time. I wish I would have listened intently sooner. I get that this is not for everyone. But I can’t deny the great songwriting. It even name checks my city, Chattanooga? Wow.

A long long long 40 something minutes. What is this? The worst parts of NIN with the dark side of Willy wonka. That may sound awesome, but it’s not.

Opened up for today’s selection. See this. My face goes…🤔. Track 1 ends. I think I like this. By the end of “Let There Be Drums” I’m adding to my streaming library. It’s interesting for sure. Quite funky.

You know what? I think Van Halen is fair. Heard all the hits and this one has several. But that’s all that’s worth listening to on this. Eddie’s guitar noodling is ok on small doses. Same with David’s vocals.

Hmmm. I know a song or 2 by name. Not really my style. And an hour? Let’s click play and go. Yep, Rhythm Nation is very familiar and good. Oh, I like Miss You Much even better. Not sure an interlude is needed after every song. Ok. It is finished. I’ll admit, I was kinda dreading an hour of this album. But it seemed faster than that. It was well done for the time. The singles are still good. Truly a three and a half star but I just can’t round up to 4.

Well hello there old friend. We’ve met MANY times before. Easy 5 here. Listen to everything else being released in 1967 and then listen to this. The perfect counterbalance to love and peace. Low fi, dark, magic. It’s the real deal.

Hell yes. I love A Tribe Called Quest but never listened to Q-Tip as a solo artist. Here we go.. Ok definitely got some vibes and sounds I was expecting but it also much different that ATCQ. Love it regardless. Putting this qtip all the way down my ear.

Up theee with VU&Nico and Revolver for most influential albums ever. Whatever you think of them, and they don’t care, the impact alone makes it 5 stars.

Yes!!! This man is amazing. How good? This album is stellar, but not in the top five of Bowies. 4.5 star but I’ll round up to 5.

This is so good I can’t believe it’s a live album that was recorded live in 1960…and outside too. I mean the sound is amazing. Muddy is an all timer in popular music. Arguably the top dog of blues. This shows why.

What a great discovery today. Never heard of this. After the first song I was not sold one way or the other. But as the album played and just started loving it. Raw and powerful. Like an American version of the early Kinks. Added to my listening collection. Definitely hear its influence in a lot of music I love.

Has any other album aged poorly and also incredibly at this same time?

Knowing the backstory makes this better.

Now THIS is the U2 I loved and wish everyone knew. Classic album. Great lyrical content. Well done! (Bono, I’m from the future. Two things. Sometimes learn to not be so preachy. And most importantly…stay off of everyone’s iPods.)

Funny thing getting this album today. Within a few weeks of it coming out back in the day I bought it on cd. The cd itself had a huge marijuana leaf on it. I knew my parents would not approve and I had to hide it all kinds of ways. Nowadays I’m torn on it. The sound of it is still great to me. The lyrics are 😬 a lot. It’s still a 4 ⭐️ though just because its importance cannot be ignored. And it gave us Snoop.

Yeah….no. I was the perfect age for this when it came out. I hated it then. I do so even more now. Essential? Only thing essential about it is it wasted over an hour of my life. Revise this book. Update: the song with Fred Durst is truly the worst song I’ve ever heard.

I think this is…a little more than decent. I love this project for making me hear the full albums and learn more than just the hits and this happened today. It’s been on my to do list to listen to this full one. The hits are still great. The skits drag the album down. All that said, it was enjoyable. But not on the level of ATCQ or De La Soul and others.

I have paintings of three artists hanging in my office. Marvin is one of those. This is a high mark album in his career. Its style, sound, and lyrical content influenced so many.

So yeah I’m familiar with Randy. I know Short People and I Love LA and, of course, Toy Story. But never heard more than that that I’m aware of. So here we go… Three songs in and very strong thumbs up so far. Love the music and love the lyrics even more.

Yes I know the song Layla. Yes it’s great. But man I usually find Clapton boring. On the other hand Duane Allman is my goat. Glad I finally listened to the whole thing and I liked it a lot. Prefer just the Allmans by a wide margin, but some good stuff here. Would be a 4 but I’m taking away a star for Eric stealing Pattie.

I’ll get roasted here, but I have to stay true to myself. I’m barely younger than this album. My parents owned it. So I’ve heard it a lot. My hot take is… it’s ok. Crazy to see it rated as like the top ever when there are soooo many more deserving. Is it the backstory? Because the music is fine, but vanilla.

Man…. Elliott means so much to me. And has since he was even alive. Figure 8 isn’t his top album, though I’m sure I’ll see that one later in this, but it’s still an amazing collection of songs.

Pulp “Different Class” strong 4 for me. Even as an American this album reached me and stayed with me. With all due respect to oasis and blur, Common People is THE anthem of britpop. But all of these songs are just so great and memorable. Different class, indeed.

Os Mutantes “Os Mutantes”. Yes! A psychedelic Brazilian album? More please. I do like this one a lot. I was a little familiar with it before thanks to my daughter, but this was my first dedicated full listen. Added to my streaming library. 4 ⭐️

Well, I’m gobsmacked. I’ve heard of Common, but never heard him. I loved this. No matter what you think of Kanye just admit he’s a great producer. I loved this so my much it’s added to my account to listen to again.

When this album came out everyone (see: critics) raved about it. I gave it 2 listens and it didn’t click. Never listened since. Played today and I still don’t get it. Perfect album to use as an example for editing this list.
