Reviews (page 8 of 8)
Why did so many folk singers in the 60’s decide that singing as pretentiously as possible was a good thing? The style of music often reminds me of a Ren faire. Not one I ever want to listen to again.
Well, that’s 42 minutes I’ll never get back.
Not for me.
Don’t exactly get why this album made the list.
Not really anything to recommend.
The depths of my hatred for this man and his music.
Tim Buckley here decided to pour every feeling he’s ever had into Goodbye and Hello, except he forgot to edit anything out. Listening to this is like being cornered by someone at a party who insists on sharing their deepest thoughts at full volume. The songs stretch on for days, with Tim’s voice swinging wildly between “I’m sensitive” and “I’m screaming for no reason.” It’s folk-meets-jazz-meets-psychedelic-chaos, and each track feels like he was about three minutes away from either collapsing or pulling out a tambourine. It’s intense, it’s long-winded, and it’s about as coherent as reading Shakespeare in reverse.
Glad I’ve tried but it’s a no from me
I say no bueno.
This was a chore to listen to.
If you like carnival folk, this is for you. I don't.
Dumb shit, sounds like something you’d hear at a Renaissance fair
Not my favorite
goodbye
This...was...horrible. I almost turned it off but thought I would stick it out. There were moments of fantastically horrendous drug-induced hallucinations, but I could have died before listening to it!
This is the second TB album on this list and this is two too many. A real struggle to get to the end. Smug 'sensitive' singer-songerwriter pap. If I could give 0 I would.
Tim Buckley has one of the most annoying singing voices out there - painful to listen to.
Dreadfully boring. I dont remember anything from this album except the boredom that I endured. Maybe it's not 1 star bad but it's getting it anyway.
60s, folk/psychedelic... but so boring.
Horrendous. Sounds like it was recorded in an aluminum trash can.
So bad...this type of folk just doesn't do it for me. Seemed liked Medieval lute cospplay with no talent at times. 1.5/5
man what is this
Sounds a bit too earnest and oversentimental to me. A couple of the vocals made me think of Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees. There's nothing here of interest to me and I couldn't bring myself to sit through the entirety of a single song but I kind of liked one of them. 1.5/5
Goodbye and Hello continues a bit of a meh run we've been on with a couple of decent interruptions; again, why is this on the list? It's a very 60s crooner sound by a guy who warbles rather than sings, and doesn't bring anything fresh or new or unique to the table. I'm pretty sure it's only on the list because he's Jeff Buckley's old man and, well, that can fuck off. 1.5 if I'm generous.
fallen out of time, inaudible.
Tepid
Now that art (unfortunately for us.) Tim was a poet and a minstrel. A variety of sounds, especially in the background, which would have been better if on Xtasy while listening. (1.5*s)
WTF. why is this here. Never heard of him, will hopefully never again!
Another pile of crap
Yawn…
More Goodbye than Hello for me
Tedious and dreary. Sorry 😞
They should put a picture of this album in the Merriam-Webster dictionary next to the word "pretentious"... I would actually give this a "0" if I could... I loved Jeff Buckley's stuff - as I understand that Tim was his dad, but this was incredibly difficult to even get through... Definitely not in my wheelhouse - nor my cup of tea, but I really struggle to see what those of you who gave it 4's & 5's, are basing that on... C'est la vie...
This is one of the those albums that makes you wonder what the parameters are to make this list. Truly an awful album. 1/5 Definitely won’t listen again
meh
Ficou tocando e passou despercebido.
Didn’t like it at all.
Today’s album makes me antsy! Shut UP Tim Buckley. You are NOT the Velvet Underground and you are NOT Paul Simon and I have had ENOUGH. No. Just no. Bring me the mouthwash.
1.5
Some artists have not aged well. This is one of them. Sorry to say, but Tim Buckley's presence is overbearing and his singing style theatrical. I had to stop after five songs.
Just...ugh.
I want to mark this album as a 1 for the album cover alone. Let's see how this goes. Yeah, this sucks significant ass.
Eh. Psychedelia and singer-songwriter? Pass.
Nope
I'm not particularly a fan of his voice, and the rest of the music wasn't good enough to make up for it.
Not for me
Ditch it from the list
Terrible. I'm sorry, but no.
Soy face: the album
I FUCKING HATED ITY
MORE Tim Buckley? God damn. Of all the albums ever recorded Tim has 2 (please tell me there aren't more than 2) in the top 1001? Suuuure.
No thanks
More 1960s folk-psychedelic-rock - it all sounds so dated now.
Thank god I wasn’t alive whenever this was cool
Not feeling it
Listened to the first track, then the starred ones... Typical 60's anti-war pop, without a popular track on it. Not my cup.
Not for me
No
This is clown music
Never grabbed me. 1
While there were flashes of okayness, most of the vocals in this album unsettled me. There aren’t enough drugs on the planet for me to actually enjoy this.
OK Tim, what do you have for us? Social commentary and guitar? That's my guess. Let's see. More energy than I expected but jeez, so pretentious. Oof. No thank you. Worst: Hallucinations. No, worst: Knight-Errant.
Horrible
Your face is just a combination of thousands of years of other people's faces.
Tedious.
No
Wasn’t a fan of his last album and a fan of this one either
Medieval funk rock, some of the songs (esp. Goodbye & hello itself) pricked my ears up as being very listenable, then the jesters and jousters get involved again and it loses me - switched off twice and went and listened to some zeppelin instead!
Horrid. The typical post 60s folkie drops acid and makes unlistenable experimental stuff with random studio instruments, forgetting how to write songs.
Tim Buckley's second album of folk rock music released in 1967. The songs seemed too slow for me to get into this album, but Tim's singing is good. I don't need to listen to this album again.
"Did you know that Jeff Buckley's dad was a singer-songwriter too?" "No, I did not, I did not know that" "Yeah, his name was Tim" "Never heard of him..." And now we know why... :)
Wow, I tried to listen to this three times, and I can't get through one song of his. I find his voice way too high pitched and whiny. Maybe other stuff will be better. I am going to get the book tonight so I am excited to read the entry.
maybe it was my mood, but I did not like this album.
I only listened to one of the 10 tracks to the end! Didn't like his voice, didn't like his folk style
I don’t like it. It’s folky and dull & ive had enough of getting stuck with these disappointing choices. 1 Star!
Really didn't dig it. Generic 60's Folk/Psychedelic.
Petitioning for no more Buckley albums
