Reviews (page 8 of 8)
Dreary country nonsense. Only decent track was One In A Hundred. The rest all sound the same.
How many singer-songwriter country folk albums do I have to listen to on this list? Just when you think this is over, it's only half done. This man has zero emotional range. See his completely flat version of Stand By Me.
Not good. It was short but that's the only good part. It's country and folk.
Hm, sounds countryish. Yeah sorry, can't get into this. 1 star.
Another lonely cowboy sings to his guitar by the campfire. I played the songs. None of them interested me. The piece For a Spanish Guitar promised to be interesting. If it was indeed written for a Spanish guitar, it lacked the virtuosity to play it. Boring.
Naaaah. Tråkigt helt enkelt
Jesus fucking Christ. No. This is like everything I can't stand in music wrapped in one package. I feel a headache coming on today and this certainly did not help. Oh, you've done it now Gene Clark. There's so many Byrds albums on this list, did we seriously need 2 Gene Clark solo albums as well?
This was not my thing at all.
Sooo boring and generic
Meh. I am not a huge fan of The Byrds and although Gene Clark is definitely talented, this album just isn't my thing.
The only interesting thing about this album is the riddle it invokes. As painful as it is to listen to Bob Dylan, do I dislike an imitator of his more for the lack of originality, or less for the efforts at actually singing? Truthfully, Gene Clark sounds, by turns, like he's imitating, on some songs, Dylan and, on others, Glenn Campbell. He touches neither's greatness.
Boring and hollow feeling.
Låter som han sitter och skiter och klämmer fram sången
1.5
Das langweiligste Cover aller Zeiten von "Stand By Me". Und der Rest der Platte ist genauso. Das Folk-Singer-Songwriter Genre ist, glaube ich, nichts für mich.
This sounds like half a glass of low fat milk left out on the counter too long.
too mellow
Everything I hate about country
Provinence be damned, this is a dull record.
My god, shut up with the damn harmonica
Not certain why this made the 1001 list….
Gene was praised for being a great song writer. Sad early death. This is too folk for me. When I was listening I was thinking that the bands he played in like 'The Byrds' may have been something my parents would have enjoyed.
Yawn
American wallpaper. Probably needs to be played on an 8-Track or reel to reel. Ironic title considering the cover, showing sunset which due to the increased amount of atmosphere the light has to travel through contains less light of shorter blue wavelengths due to Raleigh Scattering. So, not white light.
Het soort muziek dat je niet alleen gestolen kan worden, maar dat je ook nog eens blij bent als dat gebeurt. En alsjeblieft geen aangifte doen, stel toch dat ze deze depressie op vinyl vinden en bij je terugbrengen...
Not for me
Aliexpress Bob Dylan
the longest 51 minutes of my life jfc
Dull
It was not my thing, it's what I expect early 70's American stuff to sound like in my head. All Bob Dylan tinged and generally uninteresting. Way too much harmonica. However I did have a strange dream last night where I imagined I was listening to today's album, this project is obviously playing on my subconscious mind, in it some odd solo American Saxophonist playing The Joshua Tree in its entirety, so I suppose this album is actually better than what my dream/nightmare was by a small margin. 1
Find yourself someone who loves you, as much FIFA loves oil money, as much as Facebook loves your data, and as much as 1001 Albums loves all things The Byrds.
Is it just me or were there no choruses in these songs? B..............................oh, sorry, I just woke up. Boring.
This is just so bland. I'm sorry. Kinda country rock I guess but no spark here at all. I googled all the best albums of 1971 and boy are there some great albums. This is not one of them.
The first real part of the Nine Circles of Byrds (why nine? Gram Parsons is kind of his own thing that was on a Byrds album, and Mr. Tambourine Man, which I got 10 days ago, is a good album to ease me in). This album - why? No, just why? Why do we need an ex-Byrd shamelessly copping Dylan while having an ounce of the talent in this book? Not all good folk is Dylan rip-offs. This book knows that - they have five Leonard Cohen albums. And unlike the Byrds, Cohen actually DESERVES those albums. Instead of adding more different sounding folk albums, they add two of a Byrd ripping off Bob Dylan. Oh yeah, he has two. Why does this guy get two, especially when he was in a band that has five? But let’s look at the album itself. Every single song is forgettable, except ‘Tears of Rage’ - a Dylan-penned song. Of course. I’d just be repeating myself if I talked any longer. Just skip this one. (Side note: why am I always so much more interesting when hating on an album than praising it?)
With the exception of ‘One In A Hundred’ and ‘1975’, the rest of this is as dull as the album cover.
Springsteen ja Young perseilee tälläsellä ja kerää nii saatanasti tähtiä ihmisiltä heti kun nimi vaihtuu laitetaan alempaa tähtöstä häH mikä vikana budjetti soittaja laulantekijä heh eipäs juuri mitään vikaa ja hyvä tunnelma albumissa siis kolmosta pantaan protesti tähditystä taas...en laita.. objective.. kiva upbeat vika biisi.. heh eroaa sillä tavalla toka vika biisi.. muut biisit samanlaista laiskan lörpökkää.. 1971 werd ik enthousiast van, mijn meeste lievelings nummers komen uit 71-74. Deze hoort daar niet bij! Wel een vette cover, maar zeurmuziek
So boring, already forgot it
Put me to sleep
This album was really boring, and one of my favourite albums is To Be Kind by Swans.
Not really what I like. Sounds good but not doing anything for me.
1 not for me
Just not my thing....
New music but a huge meh
Sorry Gene it's not you it's me. Just not a fan of the genre. 1 star because I don't need to hear it again.
bleghhhhhh
wholly unremarkable.
Whit dad music
Didn't enjoy. Nothing new and interesting.
no country
Country is country. Bleh!
this is what i was most worried about on the list. cuntry music. i just can't get past it.
Boring country type stuff, it's not for me.
Aight
Not really my thing, sort of a light... Gordon Lightfoot in my mind. Not really significant.
