So I’ve flogged this album for the last two hours. There really is two distinct sounds to the white and black sides (a+b) as the info page writes. The latter half really has those distinct queen harmonies we are familiar with with , that dramatic almost operatic sound. At first I was not really into it. Reckon it might have been my preconceived notions of queen the band being unraveled live in my ears track to track on the start of this album. Now 5 or six rotations in I really like the diversity for sounds and vocal styles from track to track and from side to side of this selection
Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, I would get on an elevator if it was playing so there’s that
has a galaxy 500 vibe that I enjoy quite a lot, I’d lump it in there with the flaming lips as well, I like it so far
2.5 if I could
2.5 background gear for me on this one
3.5
Could not get past the voice, unfortunate as I recall enjoying the singles when it dropped. Tastes have changed a bit too much to handle the finger nails meet chalk board voice I guess 🤷♂️
Gave it three run throughs, they just miss the mark on every track for me, nothing catches my ear at all. It’s as though they they collectively decided “hey let’s not put anything memorable on this album at all”
Really got into this today while knocking back some yard work. Enjoyed his effortless lead vocals, almost soft conversations at times. Great producing on the tracks , really liked when they punched it up with a little blast from the horn section .
Just Nope
Just listen to a greatest hits compilation and get through the funeral dirge vibes all at once, listening to his whole catalogue is just cruel and unusual punishment, some folks are singer song writers , Leonard can write.
Great albulm
