When will it end? It got worse as it went on. So dark and blah. not for me

Keith Jarrett

So so awe struck by this album. The improvised notes on a broken piano was a pure virtuoso performance of a talented master. Wish I could have heard it live. WOW

Pixies

Thought I was going to like this. Potentially good. Debut album = potential wasn't meet. Some tracks are really bad.

Little Richard

The quick beat songs all sounded like he was trying to get through them as fast as he could play and hoped everyone kept up. I liked the smoother beat and musicality of songs like Miss Ann and Oh, Why.
Jefferson Airplane
4/5
It was the 60's. Music was everything and Grace Slick was/ is a rock legend. Wish she did more of the vocals but as is, this album holds up to the test of time.
The Clash
3/5
Atypical. This album has such a variety of influences. Musically and vocally superior punk.
Moby
4/5
Introduction to Moby. Play will be something I would listen to again and again.
Super Furry Animals
4/5
There is much to appreciate.
The xx
4/5
So interesting with slow and easy style. Everything is underdone. That is what makes it so different and compelling.
1/5
Never was a big fan. Read his biography and liked him even less. Zero enthusiasm in this live performance. The harmonica was painful. Historic performance with audience hecklers. I thought I would like part two with the Band or the Hawks better. I was wrong.
The Blue Nile
4/5
so different, pieces of unique music bound together with other pieces of unique music. Vocals are smooth and inviting. So unpredictable and interesting.
Ramblin' Jack Elliott
2/5
Too He Haw.
Keith Jarrett
5/5
So so awe struck by this album. The improvised notes on a broken piano was a pure virtuoso performance of a talented master. Wish I could have heard it live. WOW
Stereolab
3/5
Background work music. Kind of pleasant.
Adele
4/5
Amazing talent! Singer/songwriter puts out her second album at the age of 21 and every single one of the songs are solid. Ballad singer or pop Goddess, she can sing anything she wants.
The Isley Brothers
3/5
R and B sounds. Forerunners of music for over 2 or 3 decades. Used synthesizers and experimental funky sounds, which never appealed to me. The straight Rhythm and blues was awesome and copied for generations with the falsetto voices. Liked the piano but not the use of organ sounds or that "shaft" sounding percussion instrument.
Hendricks played with them for a time before he broke out as a artist on his own.
Van Halen
4/5
Guitar Master! That is what set Van Halen's performances apart. It always sounds amazing and demands you to pay attention. Lyrics and vocals never pulled me in the way the guitar solos did. For sure he was one of the best.
The Jam
3/5
Trio. Enjoyed the drums on all tracks. Familiar sounds of the 70's but a bit darker in political notes of working class life and even getting mugged and beaten while riding the "Tube". Vocal reminded me of a Bowie sound. Maybe more members in the band could have enhanced the too simple repetitive bits. They might have been playing for their own gain and I didn't feel like I was encouraged by the sounds to go along with them. Guess it just wasn't anything new under the sun for me. A swing and a miss for me.

The Replacements
1/5
Just ok for me. Didn't seem like it was professionally put together. Wonder if they ever got better.
Gil Scott-Heron
3/5
Jazz and poetry blend to speak the ageless message of human struggle. His voice was pitchy pretty often but his calm style and the musical performances, especially the flute kept me listening.
Aphex Twin
3/5
5/5
Opened the doors to making music differently with multiple overlayed sound tracks. Stretching boundaries and using sounds and instruments that had not been used before. A day in the Life is pretty special.
Genesis
2/5
Wanted to like it but did not. It was not good. Cinema Show gave me laughable visions of an SNL skit. Gave it a 2 because I like later stuff and heard glimpses of it from Phil and Peter
3/5
Fun and I liked it more than I thought I would. I don't think of it as artistry but it does have energy.
The White Stripes
4/5
Suffering from restless leg syndrome. Could anyone sit still through this duets album? Not me.
Astor Piazzolla
3/5
loved the guitar, percussions, flute and piano. The bandoneon was highlighted too much for me but I guess that is culturally preferred in Tango.
Metallica
4/5
Was not a fan of their earlier harder stuff but by this album they had evolved a bit and I actually like some of it (Nothing Else Matters, The Unforgiven, Enter Sandman). Some really good music
Arcade Fire
4/5
Never listened to this album in entirety before today. Will listen again.
The Beach Boys
3/5
Loved it as a kid but this was not their best. That would have been " Pet Sounds", which was probably my pre-teen anthem album.
R.E.M.
4/5
The Kinks
2/5
so many tracks!!! all knock off sounds of the Beatles and the Beach Boys, pretty juvenile lyrics and a bit of the Who. Overall sounds sloppy and not at all authentic.
Frank Zappa
4/5
"a movie for your ears"
Erykah Badu
3/5
smooth R and B background music.
Kate Bush
1/5
??? maybe it is something you need to acquired a taste for, but life is too short for this. Never heard this before and I'm really fine with never, ever hearing any of this again.
Brian Eno

Side one was pretty ok. Side two was not.
AC/DC

Gene Clark
4/5
Unexpected! Loved the instrumental string parts and piano, as well as the background vocals. Would listen again especially Strength of Strings. I hear Gene Clark's performance from Lady of the Lake in Father John Misty's style.
Randy Newman
2/5
Recognizable and unique voice, but it is so so dinner theatre.
Eric Clapton
4/5
Shuggie Otis
3/5
Started out intrigued and liked it. After half way point it was not as interesting to me. I would give it a 3.5 if that was an option.
Doves
4/5
I really really liked it.! But I kept feeling like there was something missing that would take this album to the next level. It was so so good but should have felt "something" that set it apart. Solid 4/5
Calexico
4/5
It was unexpected and easy to enjoy. Didn't particularly like to barking dogs lol but the blend of instruments and styles really put a great spin on the album
Neil Young
4/5
His off key voice shouldn't work but it does. The harmonies are CSNY quality. Harmonica outstanding. Steel guitar masterful. Albuquerque, I never get tired of this music, listened to it over and over again back in the day. One of my favorite all time Neil Young songs. Album is raw. I wonder if he ever did a do over? Could have been more polished if he tried to please the consumer but that is his style.
Country Joe & The Fish
3/5
Yup, I was a fan but listening now I wish the vocals were stronger. The music and mix of hippie, anti war, get high and free spirit kind of music with some country and soulful stuff is still holding up. Just not the vocal performances. My teenage self would have given them a 5.
Traffic
5/5
Listen to the instrumental pieces. I had this LP and played it over and over again. Masters!!!! Piano, flute, sax, guitar, drums and vocals....everything blended to make some great enduring sounds.
Pere Ubu
1/5
Intros were unique and I was able to listen and even start to enjoy some of it. Then the vocals began.
4/5
A unique artist. Classic material.
ABBA
2/5
This is one of those bands everybody knows but who can really listen to this except on Broadway?
Ute Lemper
1/5
Sounds like the Turner Classic soundtrack from a German band singer/ double spy type movie.
Ray Charles
3/5
Ray Charles is a genius and a stylist. The big band arrangements and the back up singers could have been toned down. Imagine "Come rain or Come Shine" without the Lawrence Welk singers? I would be so much better.
The Go-Go's
3/5
Fun at the time and holds up today. Respect the drums.
Faith No More
2/5
never listening to this again. Vocals are really awful.
k.d. lang
3/5
So good. What a voice and loved the various instruments used for such an interesting mix of influences. Very much appreciated the artistry but doubt I would listen to this again.
Dead Kennedys
1/5
No thank you
KISS
2/5
I like "Beth" probably because it doesn't sound like Kiss. I never took them seriously. They always felt like a gimmick with the face paint and the loud and mediocre instrumentation, not to mention the sub par vocals. Just a silly show.
The Saints
2/5
Not typically a fan of punk but this was interesting. Excellent musicians. Didn't appreciate the vocals much. Dylan singing punk?
Wilco
3/5
A real mixed bag of country and rock with a indie twist. This would be better if it wasn't so long. Cut both "Otta Mind" versions, "Why would you wanna live", "Monday", "Don't Forget the Flowers" and shorten the almost 7min "Dreamer in my Dreams". That would cut 20 minutes and then I could give it a 4.
Kraftwerk
1/5
Watching paint dry
The Byrds
5/5
absolute genius. 1966 and what a blend of voices and harmonies, rock, folk and some Shankar inspired sounds... Thought provoking and hopeful lyrics. Love it
Miles Davis
3/5
Masterful but I really dont like jazz.
Milton Nascimento
3/5
What a varied assortment of music. Soft and smooth, with noticeable English Invasion influences, latin instrumentation, jazz, even some soulful stuff. Really easy to listen, even with the limitation of not understanding the Portuguese lyrics
Led Zeppelin
3/5
It has everything! But I cant give it a 4. My criteria for that is that I would select it for my own consumption. But I can understand higher ratings.
Wild Beasts
2/5
It was musically ok but the vocals are so inconsistent from track to track.
Deep Purple
2/5
So over the top that I have to dismiss it. Too much banshee screaming. Never been a fan and this listen confirms my aversion to Deep Purple and the like
Air
3/5
It was an easy listen...kind of background music for a party with lots of conversation... varied enough to keep it interesting... Kind of spacey. Maybe good for a space launch party...which we have often on the Space Coast of Florida
Leonard Cohen
2/5
I'm a fan of Cohen but this album was so disappointing. Hated the music and the backup singers. Lyrics are his edge but not strong enough to save this.
U2
4/5
Excellent. Have been a fan and revisiting this album solidifies it. The drums alone make this GREAT! Until the end of the World has been one of my favorite U2 songs .
The Band
4/5
Love the unique and recognizable sound of The Band. Have long been listening and appreciating their music. Love how they share the role of lead vocals and their harmonies.
Death In Vegas
2/5
Loved the percussions on "One More Time". In it's entirety the album didn't gel. Nothing held it together. Sometimes cool and often so repetitious and boring. Vocals didn't help make it more interesting. Hard to concentrate on the music quality because it just fell into the background.
Prince
3/5
Some epic music. Overproduction and a over sung in places. Masterful guitar. It exploded things in the 80s. P
Fiona Apple
4/5
Such a talented singer/ songwriter. And only beginning her career with this first album. They say to write about what you know. Could she really know this much disappointment in life so young? That is sad but makes really good music.
Miles Davis
2/5
I felt like this was a giant jam session for the sole enjoyment of the musicians. Masterful artists, but I felt like no one else was invited to the party. I didn't enjoy this at all.
Pink Floyd
1/5
So weird...experimental sounds and pub sing along quality vocals. Not ready to release but they did anyway. Not good. Apples and oranges!
Billy Joel
5/5
Without a doubt, one of the albums that would be the soundtrack of my life story. So much time ingesting the words and the notes... it is now a part of me. It just doesn't get old for me.
Nas
3/5
heh, it's ok.
Kings of Leon
3/5
Great drums on Soft and Bucket. Musically this is superior. I get the complaint about the vocals but overall it holds up.
AC/DC
3/5
Full on classic rock and roll. For me it is a mood thing...not always in the mood for Johnson's vocals but always love the music.
Sade
2/5
Vocals are interesting and music is smooth. But it's dated and it's kind of cheesy "Shaft" sounding. No for me
Deerhunter
2/5
It was fine but didn't it sound like British Invasion 60's? Maybe a Dave Clark Five albums with a blanket over the speakers.
The Hives
2/5
The band is good. Vocalist is not. Really enjoyed the last song and I realized why....no vocals.
New Order
2/5
Some highs and some lows on this 80"s album. Hard to not be seeing Wham or Boy George dancing to some of this but then the instrumentation pull in the right direction.
Blondie
3/5
Really good sounds but lyrics are so weak. I like the drummer and Harry has an interesting voice, so I'll move it from a 2 to a 3
SZA
2/5
Liked the sound. Hated the lyrics and the videos. She made some "artistic" choices that eliminate the album for me.
Missy Elliott
1/5
Couldn't listen straight through. I liked her singing more than her rapping. Some of it was ok( Beep 911 and Best Friends).
Aretha Franklin
5/5
Flawless! Take us to Church!
Pink Floyd
5/5
Cream of the crop of amazing music from the 70s. Timeless and mesmerizing.
Everything But The Girl
2/5
Easy listening background music. Nice vocals and piano, sax but maybe if it was arranged differently it could have been memorable story telling.
Primal Scream
3/5
Each song was a surprise. Unexpected and sometimes spacey, but in a good way. Could see this as exercising background music.
Amy Winehouse
4/5
One of a kind and timeless.
Screaming Trees
4/5
Loved this. Vocal and lyrics were so smooth, plus solid musically. Album cover was misleading. My first full listen to this album. Not sure why.
GZA
3/5
OK. I pasted over the dialogue.
Talking Heads
3/5
Musically solid. Vocals are perfectly suited to some tracks but I would love to hear someone else sing on most of these tracks.
OutKast
3/5
Some great dancing music. Too long and could cut the interludes. Couldn't finish in one sitting. Too many tracks.
The Everly Brothers
1/5
Good news... harmonies. Bad news.... boring and juvenile lyrics.
John Prine
4/5
An American Musical storyteller. John Prine told human stories with his music, lyrics and humor.
Nirvana
3/5
Really enjoyed this album at first but it started to sound like it was too predictable and therefore became a bit dull.
The Pogues
3/5
The Smiths
3/5
Such musical talent that bends around Morrissey vocals. Very odd but it works.
Jurassic 5
2/5
OK as it goes.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Loved him and saw live often. Think I just got tired of him. Fun but not really great.
Michael Jackson
3/5
Nostalgia. Lots going on in this overproduced album.
Elbow
3/5
Unexpected and lyrical...sleepy and dreamlike
Neil Young
3/5
Easy laid back music.
Tom Waits
3/5
Creative mixture of stuff...all over the place. Poet like Cohen and sometimes reminded me of Springsteen. His voice raspy was sometimes hard to listen to. I really liked about half of this album. It would have been great if they left off the other half.
Pixies
3/5
Loved it, most of the time. Had to "eject" a few. Overall, I liked it and would listen again.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
Each song seemed to build on the last one. Some incredible stuff.
Portishead
2/5
Dark and weird. Interesting and creative. Repetitive sounds that reminded me of the banging of an MRI during different sequences, with the patient singing along while on valium. EERIE.
Johnny Cash
2/5
I listened.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
So much on this album. His vocals are so styled and the musicianship throughout is genius. What a storyteller and innovator. Only one Stevie Wonder.
Patti Smith
3/5
beautiful vocals, interesting lyrics, different and expressive. The album felt like an intimate small club show.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
3/5
Lots of talent but why the random covers? Sounded like so many different bands and lots of classical influence. I liked most of it. Vocals and instrumental blends are excellent. Cheesy bits of dialog thrown in didn't help.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Listening with my 1984 ears this was an amazing anthem album. Not as much of a fan as I was then. Saw the Boss so many times and I don't feel the need to ever see him again.
Baaba Maal
3/5
Interesting and uplifting in some way. Have no idea what they are singing but I feel it is a spiritual and positive message. Loved this exposure to something so off the beaten path.
Coldplay
4/5
Really enjoyed this album more than I had anticipated.
New York Dolls
3/5
Rock and roll but maybe ahead of their time for popular acceptability. Sounds something like Rocky Horror music and Mick Jagger rolled together.
The Only Ones
4/5
Cant say I remember this album but I think I missed out on a great band. Could be in my top rated albums if the vocals were more appealing. Musically superior album.
Van Halen
3/5
DLR and Eddie Van Halen are icons. Fun album but the 80s synthesizer and hype for excessive grandiose blasting make it cheap.
Talking Heads
2/5
Sitting on the couch stoned....then this is pretty good. Otherwise....
Joy Division
1/5
When will it end? It got worse as it went on. So dark and blah. not for me
Einstürzende Neubauten
1/5
not music. It is something else. I can't put a name on it.
R.E.M.
4/5
Solid band. Enjoyed so much of it.
Arctic Monkeys
3/5
Drums!!!! Vocals and lyrics are strong and interesting. Liked much of it but the repetition of the guitar was loud and annoying way too often overtaking the songs.
Badly Drawn Boy
4/5
A great find. Enjoyed most every track. Never listed to this album before but I will in the future.
Isaac Hayes
2/5
It wasn't what I anticipated. I didn't like it as much as I expected.
Cat Stevens
5/5
What was still is. I wore out this album and still appreciate it on so many levels. "Miles to go. Guess I'll take my time to reach there"
Meat Puppets
2/5
instrumentals are good, although often seemed awkwardly rushed. Vocals are terrible.
Dolly Parton
2/5
Due respect and admiration but I wouldn't listen to this storytelling album by choice... Although I can appreciate its significance.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Has so much to enjoy. Amazing drums. LZ is often overrated but this particular album is deserves the hype.
Massive Attack
2/5
It was ok Coffee house music
Goldie
2/5
kind of spacey and futuristic. Very produced and engineered. Nah
B.B. King
4/5
Live blues at its best. A master
Ozomatli
3/5
Fun mixture of styles. Makes me want to dance.
Boards of Canada
3/5
Pleasant enough electronic music.
Pink Floyd
5/5
Just as good as ever. Timeless and entrancing.
Pixies
2/5
Thought I was going to like this. Potentially good. Debut album = potential wasn't meet. Some tracks are really bad.
The Young Gods
1/5
Industrial rock can be entertaining. Not this time. French creepy voice... like a nightmare or a horror movie.
50 Cent
1/5
I can't be objective.
Eminem
2/5
The rapping and engineering of this album are good. Too much negativity for me.
Butthole Surfers
1/5
No value whatsoever.
Guided By Voices
2/5
Started out thinking I might like this album. It got weaker as it went along.
The Who
4/5
Classic!!! Rock opera was born. Musicality of this album is masterful. Love it now and loved it then.
Kate Bush
4/5
So so good. Crystal clear vocals, dreamlike blend of lyrics and instruments. Timeless.
LL Cool J
2/5
Had its day. Nothing special now.
Super Furry Animals
2/5
It was ok. Instrumentation was ok. Vocals between ok and not so good. Something seems off with the overall sound. Fuzzy
Crosby, Stills & Nash
4/5
Amazing debut album. It stands the test of time for me.
Morrissey
4/5
Good.
Slayer
1/5
What a theatrical mish mosh of angry screaming. Drums are sometimes interestingly good.
Alanis Morissette
4/5
Love how she messed with her vocals to make each song a beautiful story.. Wish the instrumentation was just as unique as her voice..
Funkadelic
3/5
Fun and nostalgic. Great guitar riffs
Cocteau Twins
3/5
Kind of easy on the ears. But I like to understand what I'm listening to. Guess it would be fine as background music.
Paul McCartney and Wings
2/5
It was no big deal.
PJ Harvey
3/5
Like it. So much to hear and feel. Seems a bit raw and mixed poorly at times, leaving the lyrics secondary to the instrumentation. But overall I like it.
Dire Straits
2/5
some highs and lows. Most of it went on and on and didn't go anywhere. Sleepy for me but some would say it was soulful.
Jazmine Sullivan
1/5
I hated it and the messing around with the production made it even worse. Sorry this is not good. no no no
Fleetwood Mac
4/5
Love me some Fleetwood Mac.
Bob Marley & The Wailers
3/5
Love the rhythms and his vocals. Some sad stuff.
Lupe Fiasco
1/5
I have nothing to say
Pearl Jam
5/5
What an amazing voice that makes you FEEL and the lyrics that express so much. One of the best bands ever in my opinion. Sometimes really dark but very real.
The Jam
2/5
It was ok. Nothing special or original. lalalalala lalalalala
Eagles
3/5
OK I don't hate the f'in Eagles. I don't hate this album. It no longer blows me away but there was a time when it did.
Janet Jackson
1/5
just awful. Unless you are a 13 year old girl in the 80s and thank God they grow up and want more from music that a stage show. yuk.
Kings of Leon
4/5
Has it all. Love this album!
Manu Chao
3/5
Makes me want to dance and smile. Great music for a party.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
It's been way too long since I wrapped myself in this album of my youth. Growing up in the midst of the Vietnam War, civil rights unrest and changing music bringing light to the issues. Thoughtful and beautiful collaboration.
Johnny Cash
1/5
Felt like a TV special soundtrack. Not very good.
David Bowie
2/5
Love all the piano on this album...although some of it seems too theatrical... like the ending of old movies.
Radiohead
3/5
so good and so much originality and emotion. Excellent album for Radiohead.
Sabu
2/5
a cultural immersion into some spirited music. Not for my repeated listening but I enjoyed the flavor of the music and percussions.
Crowded House
2/5
It is ok but is also totally forgettable. Not much to get excited about. Everything seems muted and broken down to basics.
Metallica
2/5
Not my thing. Good for head banging but not for me to enjoy a listening session. Just not that hyped by Metallica. Manic and sometimes feels unfinished.
David Crosby
3/5
Early album with evidence of style that fully develops thru the years. Not my favorite collection but respect the harmonies and mystical instrumentation.
Marty Robbins
2/5
Roots of country music. Western ballads. Not my thing but enjoyed the south of the border flair.
Bee Gees
2/5
Liked the Bee Gees before the disco days. Easy and very nostalgic for me. Not compelling to take the trip back in time but it did kind of feel like a warm blanket of familiar sounds.
Deep Purple
3/5
Classic rock and roll. No tricks or mechanical synthesizing. Just some pretty great music and instrumentation.
Snoop Dogg
1/5
This didn't take long. I only lasted minutes. No chance I would spend time here. nah nah nah
The Magnetic Fields
1/5
Too long, simple and lyrics that sound like a child wrote them. It is not smart, interesting or original....so, a no for me.
Beatles
4/5
So much on this album. Love love love some of it. I never really cared for the frivolous silly songs but there is so much brilliant stuff with such diverse influences that this has to be rated well.
Dennis Wilson
2/5
Some familiar sounds and well crafted instrumental mastery. Maybe if I spent more time with the lyrics I would want to revisit this but it just isn't compelling to me and I doubt I would ever listen to this again.
U2
4/5
Still holds up musically with superior drums, guitar and piano. Massively creative and lyrically meaningful even today. Some of their best.
Belle & Sebastian
3/5
Easy listening and melodic, indie-ish sounds. Some of it was pleasant but the lyrics all seem bland... coming of age school days material.
4/5
David Bowie
1/5
OK I get it, he is a legend. The band was noticeably excellent. But I am just not a Bowie fan. His weird voice only annoys me. Always feel like we are in outer space.
Marvin Gaye
4/5
His vocals are amazing and he has an original sound that so many try to imitate. And then there are the percussion instruments.
Peter Frampton
4/5
Do you u feel like I do? soo good guitar
Ill Give you money.... guitar and drums amazing
and this was live years ago. What a show!!!!

1/5
Oh Please. Really?
The Beach Boys

Kind of my growing up soundtrack. Gotta love it.
R.E.M.
3/5
Some really good music that holds up. Love the instrumentation. Lyrics still stick with me. Orange Crush and Inside out.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5/5
One of the best. I wore it out back in the day. Would still play it and love it!
Ice Cube
1/5
Hate it.
Slipknot
1/5
I hated it....and it's a shame cause there are glimpses of great instrumentation and even better vocals. Then the manic screaming happened. Really desperate sensationalism.
David Bowie
2/5
OK
Queen
2/5
Something is off on this album. Desperation to put out an album when they didn't have what it takes and filled in with tracks that should have remained empty.
Stevie Wonder
3/5
More laid back tempos and prayerful. Beautiful Stevie sounds and words.
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
A poet, a mastered falsetto.
Leonard Cohen
2/5
Can I appreciate this? Yes. Does it really qualify as music? Probably not.
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
An amazing time for music and for living. It was really something and this was the music playing. One of the all time best albums nostalgically
SAULT
2/5
All over the place. High school choir singing to club music and the Janet Jackson sounding stuff. Trying to make too many points in too many ways.
Tina Turner
2/5
She's simple the best but not for me. Fun and energetic music but not something I would play for myself.
The Doors
2/5
I was tortured by this album being overplayed and turned up as loud as possible. It made me hate the Doors. It still isn't something I would ever select to hear.
Leonard Cohen
4/5
So respect his eloquence and his beautiful way of looking death in the face and creating such reflections for us to share. This may have been his best.
Jane Weaver
2/5
This is pretty ok. Vocals and drums are good. Not impressed by the lyrics or the mood being clear expressed. What's the point?
The Sonics
2/5
I'm not a fan of the Jerry Lee Lewis style of jitter bug and screaming. I wont be listening again unless I need a soundtrack for 60s themed party
Sinead O'Connor
2/5
It was good but a little boring
Peter Gabriel
4/5
Peter Gabriel was amazing and his music holds up. Games without Frontiers is an example of 40 + years of relevance. Genesis was one of my favorites.
Sly & The Family Stone
2/5
In my memory they sounded better. Is it me?
Steely Dan
2/5
This doesn't make it for me like Aja. Just something missing.
Deep Purple
3/5
Really fine live performances.
Black Sabbath
3/5
Unquestionably spectacular. The dark sided themes as well as the heavy influence of drugs and alcohol started to make it hard to be a fan. That aside, this is still something special.
Gene Clark
3/5
Enjoyed this. Easy listening and pleasant.
ZZ Top
3/5
What a fun listen!!! Fun live too.
Sebadoh
2/5
The songs that I liked seemed to be on some kind of slow mo speed. Most of the vocals are just not good. Only a few songs made this album worthy of a listen.
Beck
2/5
Expected to like it more. Kind of inconsistent.
Ella Fitzgerald
4/5
So good and nothing synthetic here. Even heard 2 tunes I never heard before. Ella was masterful. Gershwin songbook was a reminder of my parents playing music on the Victrolla. The albums all lined up on the circular table rack.
Fleet Foxes
4/5
Really liked this. I'll be looking for what else this band has done since this album. Really enjoyed this.
The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
2/5

Joni Mitchell
4/5
yes I love listening to Joni Mitchell's unique voice. Timeless.
Radiohead
3/5
Enjoyed the listen. So much in this album. Great percussions and also dreamlike vocals. It has it all.
Garbage
2/5
Well I like the voice and the instrumentation. Lyrics seem like they would appeal to a 16 year old. It is alright but I probably am not coming back to this.
The Rolling Stones
2/5
A few good songs and then the rest is pretty boring. Live this band was amazing, but this album isn't.
Joni Mitchell
3/5
Really love this album and Joni's unique voice.
The War On Drugs
3/5
Never listened to this entire album before now. I like it. Will revisit.
Arcade Fire
3/5
Love the sound on most of the songs. Drums are great on many of the tracks. It feels like the band is holding back to make space for the vocals on a few songs. That bothered me. ie City with no Children.
Def Leppard
2/5
Band was excellent but I am not of fan of screaming in place of singing. Never was a fan.
Tom Waits
1/5
Miriam Makeba
2/5
Musical storytelling in a foreign language. Interesting

If you make me listen to this genre, then this is the album I would select. I enjoyed Common's voice more that I imagined but wont be listening again.
Stephen Stills

The The
1/5
Manic. Repetitive. Some of it is really terrible.

classic R and B live performance. Wish I could see him dancing during this!
Sepultura
1/5
Haircut 100
3/5
This passed me by in the 80s but I'm not sure why. I liked it. Vocals are interesting and sound new. Some cool sounding instrumentation. Horns and percussion/ drums are excellent. almost a 4
The Smashing Pumpkins
4/5
so good. Im crazy for the drumming and the unique quality of the guitar diversity. The vocals are kind of off but it works in a way that may not mesh with stronger vocals.
The Prodigy
3/5
Granted this is a great album. Just not one I would choose on my playlist. It is compelling. Hard to turn off.
Bonnie Raitt
4/5
So talented! It's so eclectic! Soulful and country and jazz and awesome guitar playing!!! Telling stories. Love her.
Skepta
1/5
It is kind of hilarious to hear rap with an accent. lol. Terrible but made me laugh.
Stan Getz
2/5
It was OK but reminded me of Mary Tyler Moore doing the dance scenes on the Dick vanDyke show when my parents watched it. I wouldn't ever choose this for myself.
CHIC
3/5
It was ok
Tom Tom Club
2/5
A mixed bag of a few good but nothing exciting.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy
2/5
Pretty dull musically. Interesting lyrics sung with simplistic vocals.
Supergrass
3/5
I like their energy and upbeat sound. Seems very 90s
Gillian Welch
2/5
Great voice but the arrangements didn't move me. Seems like original mountain music played bare bones. Has it's worth but wouldn't be my choice
The Psychedelic Furs
2/5
too dated for me. I wasn't a fan then.
Janelle Monáe
4/5
Didn't know much of this album but really enjoyed it. Pretty diverse and unexpected. Love her voice.
Joni Mitchell
4/5
The voice and the lyrics of a poet.
Chicago
4/5
Saw them the summer of 71. What a great night. Have seen them since and always took me back. Love the drums and the horns. Good stuff.
Cheap Trick
2/5
Fun, good time band. I just don't think it holds up over time. Just ok. Great drummer though
The Cure
2/5
Great band but so dark and depressing....all the time. And I always hated Robert Smith's voice. Sounds like screaming from a distance in a tunnel. Not a fan.
Basement Jaxx
1/5
Club music without much merit. I couldn't listen to all of it.
N.W.A.
1/5
Never choose this. ever.
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
1/5
Musically the band isn't bad but this voice is not for me.
System Of A Down
1/5
One bad album after a worse album. This is awful.
Bill Callahan
1/5
One arm drummer and 3 chord guitar for this karaoke singer in the Cracker barrel. No I didn't like it.
Khaled
2/5
May be culturally enjoyed by some. Not for me.
