Great debut from the Stones.
Primal Scream
2/5
I don't know what to make of this album...seems like a mediocre mixed tape of the most popular 90s genres. Feels a bit uneven for me. I didn't hate it, but don't think I need to listen to it again.
Devendra Banhart
3/5
Never heard this one before, but enjoyed. Some great guitar picking.

Never been a fan of Tom Waits. I appreciate him as an artist, but he’s not for me.

I had never really listened to Muse outside of hearing them on the radio, and always kinda put them in the "poppy Radiohead ripoff" category, but this album was pretty good. Definitely had a few great moments and brought back some Guitar Hero memories.
Highlights: "Starlight" and "Exo-Politics"

Motörhead
2/5
Had never listened to Motorhead before, and don't see myself doing so again. Nothing against them, just not my thing.

Great harmonies, arrangements and songwriting. You can hear the growth that will eventually lead to Pet Sounds. I will say some of the vocal and vocal arrangements sounded different than versions I remember, but that could just be my age, haha.
Highlights: " Help Me, Rhonda" and "Dance, Dance, Dance"

Alright - everything about Kanye as a person aside, this is objectively a great album. The samples, the beats, not to mention the great supporting cast he has with him make this an incredibly fun album.

Love this one! Probably my favorite Neil Young record.
Highlights: “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, “After the Gold Rush” and “Southern Man”

Sleater-Kinney
3/5
Fun alternative rock album with some good moments.

A fun, upbeat, poppy album with witty lyrics (i.e. “It’s just a simple metaphor for burning love” on “Forest Fire”). Definitely of a time, felt like I was in a John Hughes movie, not in a bad way.
Highlights: “Forest Fire” and “Are You Ready to Bleed”

Bluesy, psychedelic and some great 60s rock. This is probably my favorite album from The Doors.

Highlights: “(Who Discovered) America” and “Saturday Night”
Lauryn Hill
4/5
Damn. I remember all the acclaim this album got when it came out, but this is the first time I’ve listened to it all the way through. What a groove it has and Lauryn Hill’s voice is amazing. I’m torn on how I feel about all the classroom interludes, but overall, loved the whole album.

Another great Bowie album. A little darker and more industrial than previous Bowie albums. The long instrumental interlude of "Moss Garden" always throws me off a bit, but he more than makes up for it with "Heroes"
Highlights: "Heroes" and "Blackout"

Highlights: "Gloria's Step" and Solar"
The Magnetic Fields
3/5
Honestly, just too many songs. There are some great tracks on here, and some also not so great tracks. While I get the idea, I think they would have benefitted from some editing, there is a good album in there, in just gets bogged down by the pure number of songs.
Highlights: "I Think I Need a New Heart" and "Nothing Matters When We're Dancing"

Great blues album, and a great showcase for how talented a guitar player Eric Clapton is.
Highlights: "Hideaway" and "Steppin' Out"
Cat Stevens
4/5
Really enjoyed this album. Had listened to Cat Stevens before, but never a whole album. Solid songwriting all the way through.
Highlights: "Wild World" and "Father and Son"
Minutemen
4/5
Great punk rock album that sounds a lot more current than when it actually came out. Really in your face sound that reminds of Geese, but from 40 years ago. And it has the theme from Jackass amongst its 40 odd tracks.
Highlights: "Shit From an Old Notebook" "Maybe Partying Will Help" and "Corona"
The White Stripes
4/5
What a sound these two put out. Great album, and has probably the most recognizable guitar riff of all time.
Highlights: "Seven Nation Army" and "Ball and Biscuit"
Willie Nelson
3/5
A great collection of standards by a legend. Really enjoyable album.
Highlights: "Georgia on My Mind" and "Unchained Melody"

I can always get down with a little Fugazi. Great hard rock / punk album.
Highlights: "Blueprint" and "Reprovisional"
Nina Simone
2/5
I love Nina's voice, but not the biggest fan of this album.
Highlights: "Lilac Wine"
The Beta Band
3/5
Very indie rock of the early 00s feel to this record. A little reminiscent of Beck, but a chill record with a good groove.
Highlights: “Human Being” and “Eclipse”
Orange Juice
3/5
A poppy brit album with some Bowie influence. Not bad, but not a huge fan.
Harry Nilsson
4/5
Great record, so many good tunes!
Highlights: "Gotta Get Up", "Coconut" and "Let the Good Times Roll"
Don McLean
2/5
A decent folk record that without the presence of "American Pie", is a bit forgettable to me.
Highlights: "American Pie"
Slipknot
1/5
Not for me. Can't get into the scream speed metal genre.
Fatboy Slim
2/5
There are a few really good tracks on here, but not sure I'd ever find myself listening to it all the way through again. It gets a little repetitive for me.
Highlights: "Praise You" and "Soul Surfing"
1/5
Did not like this. A few notes over some noise and some off key singing.
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
Great album! Soulful, jazzy with some incredible themes. Kendrick has such a unique and iconic flow.
Highlights: "King Kunta", "These Walls" and "Hood Politics"
Skepta
4/5
Another great rap record. Strong start and strong finish, with a little bit of a lull in the middle for me that feels a bit generic. But, overall, some great and timeley (2016) rhymes with some good beats.
Highlights: “Konnochiwa”, “Lyrics” and “Man”
Kate Bush
3/5
A very 80s album with some good tracks that has been revived thanks to Stranger Things.
Highlights: “Hounds of Love” and “Cloudbusting”

Better for me than their first album, but still not really for me.

Not a big electronica guy, but this has some great tracks.

3/5
An interesting folk album that has some Broadway and Vaudeville feels to it.
Highlights: “Waiting for a Moving Van”
Herbie Hancock
3/5
"Chameleon" is such an iconic song, and this album is great for the jazz jam session it is.
Highlights: "Chameleon"
TV On The Radio
3/5
Good debut album from TV on the Radio. Definitely an original sound and groove.
Highlights: "Staring at the Sun" and "Poppy"
Fiona Apple
4/5
Wow. Somehow I slept on this album when it first came out. I remember not liking "Criminal" because of how much it was played on the radio, but this album is great. Dark, moody, brooding with some great vocals and on point string and piano arrangements. Big fan now.
Highlights: "Sleep to Dream", "Shadowboxer" and "Never Is A Promise"
Pixies
3/5
Pretty great alternative album from the 90s with some iconic songs.
Highlights: "Gigantic", "Where is My Mind" and "Brick is Red"

Has the feeling of an 80s pop-celtic bar band. Some decent tunes on here, but nothing I need to revisit.
Highlights: "Hard to Be Human Again" and "Last Dance"
The Beau Brummels
3/5
A mostly generic folk record with of course some hints of Dylan and little Lou Reed.
Highlights: "Nine Pound Hammer"

Interesting hard rock album. Most of it was hit or miss for me, but enjoyed some of the tracks.

Great (and I think, lesser known) Simon and Garfunkel album. Really enjoyed it.

Prince
4/5
I still have not seen this movie, but love the album.
Highlights: "Let's Go Crazy", "When Doves Cry" and "Purple Rain"

Not for me. Sounds like the generic background music in a coffee house or a fancy spa
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

4/5
Hard to believe this was his debut album. So good.

From the very first note, this is a masterpiece. One of my top ten favorite albums of all time, and probably objectively one of the greatest albums of all time. Love all of the tracks and it gets better each time I listen to it.
Highlights: All of it.
Teenage Fanclub
4/5
A fun early nineties alternative album that sounds like what would have happened if Elliot Smith had been in the Gin Blossoms.
Highlights: “Pet Rock” and “Alcoholiday”
SZA
2/5
Enjoyed some of the tracks on this album, but got a little repetitive for me.
Highlights: "Drew Barrymore" and "Anything"
Coldplay
5/5
I'm not sure why Coldplay gets such a bad rap, they are a great band. This album, from beginning to end is incredible. I forgot just how good the whole thing is. "The Scientist" is one of my favorite songs of all time, and the rest of the tracks on this album are almost as good.
Highlights: "Politik", "The Scientist", and "Green Eyes"

3/5
Great album of early 90s rap with one of the OGs.
Highlights: "Mama Said Knock You Out" and "To Da Break of Dawn"
Radiohead
5/5
One of my all time favorite albums. Can't say enough about how good this album is and what a giant step forward it was for Radiohead after Pablo Honey. This is the one that really got me into the band and probably my favorite of their albums. This is definitely one that is best listened to from beginning to end.
Highlights: All of it.
Supertramp
3/5
A decent prog rock album with some good tracks, but overall a bit meh for me.

4/5
Love a good big band jazz album! Some great hits on here from an iconic voice.
Highlights: "Jump, Jive An' Wail", "Night Train" and "Buona Sera"

Highlights: "Hate to Say I Told You So" and Supply and Demand"
The Auteurs
2/5
Yea, this is just a very mediocre album. Sounds like it was recorded in a basement and probably should have stayed there.

One of Dylan's best. Hard to beat a record that has "Like A Rolling Stone" on it.
Highlights: "Like A Rolling Stone", "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Desolation Row"
The Kinks
2/5
Never really go into The Kinks. This is an okay album, didn't really connect with me.
Highlights: "Harry Rag" and "Waterloo Sunset"
The Streets
3/5
This is a unique album, and perhaps the most British sounding hip hop record. Seemed more like someone telling me a story backed by music than actual rap, but it kinda grew on me.
Highlights: "Blinded by the Lights" and "Empty Cans"
Les Rythmes Digitales
3/5
I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. Not a big Dance genre guy, but this was an upbeat, fun, happy album that is so incredibly 90s.
Highlights. "Dreamin'" and "Take A Little Time"
The xx
3/5
I mostly remember the XX because of their song in the Sin City trailer. The rest of the album is decent, much of the same, which is not to say a bad thing.
Highlights: "Intro" and "Stars"
Stevie Wonder
5/5
Always been a big Stevie Wonder fan, but this was my first time listening to this album all the way through. So good, big fan. Had a couple of my favorites of his and then everything else was great too. Very political, and a lot of funk.
Highlights: "Living For The City", "Higher Ground" and "He's a Misstra Know-It-All"
Sade
2/5
"Smooth Operator" is a classic, and some of the other tracks on this album are mostly in the same in vain. A decent soft rock album.
Highlights: "Smooth Operator"
