Billy JoelHighlights: "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" and "She's Always a Woman"
Highlights: "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" and "She's Always a Woman"
Great Bowie album. Highlights: “Watch That Man”, “The Jean Genie”
Definitely one of the best debut albums of all time, and one of my favs. Great record. Highlights: Honestly, the whole thing. Standouts for me are "Alive" and "Release"
Had never listened to this one all the way through, but enjoyed it. A little jammier than I expected from CCR, but still good! Highlights: "Travelin' Band" and "Long as I Can See The Light"
Recognized a lot of these tunes. Great Sunday morning record to put in. Really enjoyed it. Highlights: "Girl from Impanema" and "Corcovado"
Love this album! Still remember listening to this the for the first time in 7th grade, life changing. Incredible debut album, never tire of it. Highlights: "Know Your Enemy" and "Take the Power Back"
Fun folk album and some great guitar work. Highlights: "Strolling Down the Highway" and "Needle of Death"
Solid Eagles album. I love “Hotel California” and “Life in the Fast Lane”, but can take or leave the rest
Great debut from the Stones.
I don't know what to make of this album...seems like a mediocre mixed tape of the most popular 90s genres. Feels a bit uneven for me. I didn't hate it, but don't think I need to listen to it again.
Never heard this one before, but enjoyed. Some great guitar picking.
Really enjoyed the first half of this album. The second half drops off a but for me and feels a little uneven, but still a solid 90s album. Highlights: “Country Sad Ballad Man” and “On Your Own”
Great, mellow album. Highlights: "Pale Blue Eyes" and "I'm Set Free"
Love this album. Sweet Thing is probably my favorite Van Morrison song. Highlights: “Sweet Thing” and “Cyprus Avenue”
Great album! I feel like you can hear Paul Simon fully taking over the songwriting on this one. Some amazing songs on it - "The Boxer" is one of my all time favorites. Highlights: "The Boxer", "Only Living Boy in New York" and "Cecilia"
Never been a fan of Tom Waits. I appreciate him as an artist, but he’s not for me.
This album grew on me a bit as it went on. Enjoyable listen. Highlights: "Rhymes of Goodbye"
Great live album, could have used more talkbox! Wasn’t a big fan of the “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” cover, but, the guitar solo on “Do You Feel Like We Do” is great. Highlights: “Show Me the Way” and “Do You Feel Like We Do”
I remember listening to this years ago and wasn't crazy about it. But listening to it through again, I really dug it! Great musicianship, fun album. Will be listening to more of his stuff. Highlights: "O Filosofo" and "O Plebeu"
I'm a huge Bruce fan, so of course this is getting 5 stars. What an album from start to finish, so well written and crafted. Love it. Highlights: "No Surrender" and "I'm Goin' Down"
I had never really listened to Muse outside of hearing them on the radio, and always kinda put them in the "poppy Radiohead ripoff" category, but this album was pretty good. Definitely had a few great moments and brought back some Guitar Hero memories. Highlights: "Starlight" and "Exo-Politics"
I appreciate him as a songwriter, and mostly enjoyed this album. But, in all honesty, his songs never really grab me in a way that make me want to listen to more. Highlights: "The Beat" and "Radio, Radio"
Had never listened to Motorhead before, and don't see myself doing so again. Nothing against them, just not my thing.
Great harmonies, arrangements and songwriting. You can hear the growth that will eventually lead to Pet Sounds. I will say some of the vocal and vocal arrangements sounded different than versions I remember, but that could just be my age, haha. Highlights: " Help Me, Rhonda" and "Dance, Dance, Dance"
Alright - everything about Kanye as a person aside, this is objectively a great album. The samples, the beats, not to mention the great supporting cast he has with him make this an incredibly fun album. Highlights: "Power", "All of the Lights", "Runaway"
Love this one! Probably my favorite Neil Young record. Highlights: “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, “After the Gold Rush” and “Southern Man”
This album is really interesting. An alternative album that also has instrumental interludes with experimental, electronica and eastern influences. Definitely more sitar than I expected, but I enjoyed it overall. Highlights: “Brimful of Asha”, “Funky Days are Back” and “Good Shit”
Fun alternative rock album with some good moments. Highlights: “Words and Guitar” and “Buy Her Candy”
Solid album with a lot of driving bass and reverb on the vocals. Robert Smith’s vocal sound is still iconic. Highlights: “The Hanging Garden” and “Cold”
A fun, upbeat, poppy album with witty lyrics (i.e. “It’s just a simple metaphor for burning love” on “Forest Fire”). Definitely of a time, felt like I was in a John Hughes movie, not in a bad way. Highlights: “Forest Fire” and “Are You Ready to Bleed”
Bluesy, psychedelic and some great 60s rock. This is probably my favorite album from The Doors. Highlights: "Roadhouse Blues" and "You Make Me Real"
Great genre bending album. Hip hop, rock, salsa, latin rock vibes throughout. Really enjoyed this one and loved the horn section! Highlights: “(Who Discovered) America” and “Saturday Night”
Damn. I remember all the acclaim this album got when it came out, but this is the first time I’ve listened to it all the way through. What a groove it has and Lauryn Hill’s voice is amazing. I’m torn on how I feel about all the classroom interludes, but overall, loved the whole album. Highlights: “Lost Ones”, “Doo Wop (That Thing)” and “ Everything is Everything”
Solid album with some choice samples. Highlights: "Footprints" and "Public Enemy"
Interesting mellow album with some cool vocals. Highlights: "Used to Be" and "Better Times"
Never really go into Jefferson Airplane, and never liked "White Rabbit", but this album has some good songs. Highlights: "Somebody to Love" and "Embryonic Journey"
Great follow up to “What’s Going On”, but not quite as good. Highlights: “Let’s Get It On” and “Just to Keep You Satisfied”
What a powerhouse trio! Their voices work so well together. Highlights: “Wildflowers” and “Telling Me Lies”
Another great Bowie album. A little darker and more industrial than previous Bowie albums. The long instrumental interlude of "Moss Garden" always throws me off a bit, but he more than makes up for it with "Heroes" Highlights: "Heroes" and "Blackout"
This album sounds incredible! Feels like you are at the Vanguard. Love the music too, it's taking me down a jazz road I haven't gone in a while. Highlights: "Gloria's Step" and Solar"
Honestly, just too many songs. There are some great tracks on here, and some also not so great tracks. While I get the idea, I think they would have benefitted from some editing, there is a good album in there, in just gets bogged down by the pure number of songs. Highlights: "I Think I Need a New Heart" and "Nothing Matters When We're Dancing"
Really enjoyed this one. Have not ventured much into the Afro-Beat genre, I do know how much of an impact he had on a lot of other music. Highlights: "Zombie" and "Observation is no Crime"
Incredible album from start to finish. My favorites on this one always change, but it's hard not to listen to anything but the whole album. Highlights: currently "Optimistic" and "Idioteque"
Definitely hear some influence from Muse and Phoenix, not in a bad way. Some good tracks on this one. Highlights: "Opener" and "Shortcomings"
This album has a very distinct mood and her voice is very smooth and calming. I enjoyed a lot of these songs. Highlights: "Coyote" and "Refuge of the Roads"
A decent rock record, sounds very much like early Bowie, and it's hard for me to hear anything else. Highlights: "Whizz Kid" and "Violence"
One of my all time favorites! Incredible album from start to finish. This was my introduction to Arcade Fire, and I still remember the first time I heard it. Such an original, full sound, really love this album. Highlights: "Wake Up" and "Rebellion", but the whole album is great.
Some decent 90s rap, not really my thing, but not a bad album.
Great Stones album! So many good tracks on here. Highlights: "Gimme Shelter", "Midnight Rambler" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want"
Quirky, melancholic album. Has some interesting moments. Highlights: "Sigourney Weaver" and "Leopard and Lamb"
Samba! Enjoyed this one a lot.
Hadn’t listened to a lot of Algerian music before, but there is a lot to like on this album, although not sure it is something I will return to often. Pretty good cover of “Imagine” Highlights: “C’est la nuit” and “Melha”
