Maybe the best pop album of the 80s next to Songs From The Big Chair. Still sounds amazing. Hounds of Love can be overwhelming at times, it's more like a record for a special occasion.
Not a fan of double records per se, this one is unfortunally no difference. Yes, it is really well put together and has almost no filler, but in this case, the lyrical content especially towards the end is too much for me.
CSN could be considered a one trick pony, but that one trick is something special. Yes, the songs sound the same. But in its core the s/t of Crosby, Stills & Nash shows three songwriter at the peak of their craft.
I see why there are fans of ska, but I'm still not one of them. The songs are well written and are without a doubt fun, but over the runtime of the entire album the listening experience can only be labeled as grating.
It's close to perfect, some mixing choices aside (Where are the drums?). Yes, it has flutes. Yes, they are very present. But they are, for me, what makes Aqualung to something special and to way more than a run-of-the-mill prog record.
Absolute classic, cannot recommend it enough. Lush sounding, with drive and stunning lyrics. A meticulously crafted masterpiece.
Definitely a very seasonal album, but surprisingly fun. Infectious groove and overall great composition.
One of the greatest albums of all time, easy 5 out of 5. I personally enjoy Fear of Music a bit more, but that does not take away from Remain in Light's greatness.
Came in expecting the worst and was positively surprised. It is - to me - nothing too special, just a slightly more abrasive, but overall relatively normal punk record.
Loved the other albums of them, but this was just alright. Didn't have a bad time listening, but it's really nothing to write home about.
Great and overall round album. Doesn't overstay its welcome and is fun to listen to.
Liked the jazz, but wasn't too keen on the more classical elements. But nevertheless a great way to start a weekend.
Started a bit bland but alright enough. After the third song however I audibly sighed at the prospect of yet another hour of Wal-Mart Wilco.
This kind of jazz has been memed to death, but it's still fun. Do I like it? Yes. Would I like to listen to more albums, that sound like this? Hell no.
Just the right amount of weird to be interesting but not grating. Some more mellow songs I could do without, but a more than decent album nonetheless.
This is fine, but most of the time feels like a showcase of individual skillsets and not like a coherent composition. If one is into elaborate solos: Go for it. I, however, am not.
Not a fan of funk music. I can understand the importance of the record, but I coundln't wait for it to be over.
Absolute classic. It sometimes leans a bit too much into ska for my liking, but 5/5 nonetheless.
I honestly don't know why this obscure album - that even its artist's Wikipedia article fails to mention - should be deemed "required listening". Not my thing anyways, it felt like being stuck in an old-timey lift for almost the entire runtime.
A couple of hits and a couple of songs I do not care about. It's alright, but that's about it.
I don't know. It sure got energy. But so does a nuclear power plant. And I'm not a fan of that either.
I thought 10cc would be hit-or-miss (since I came in knowing only "Im Not In Love" and "Deadbeat Holiday") but this was no-hit-all-miss. Anoyingly so.
Positively surprised. I really liked the jazz elements.
I feel like I should love this more than I do. I can't put my finger on it. Something just feels off.
It might be sacrilegious, but: I don't really like it? Yes, some songs are timeless classics, but others are, well, just there.
Not every musical idea worked, but nonetheless a good record.
Haven't put that on in ages, but it immediately felt like meeting an old pal. Is it the pinnacle of songwriting? Probably not. Did I listen to it three times on repeat? Yes, I did.
This coat has two colors, which are country and western. It starts strong but ends up being quite samey. If it was any longer I would have been annoyed by it, but as it is it was still a good time.
In all fairness: If I was tasked to compile a list of 1001 albums you should listen before you die, there would be some utter garbage on as well.
I really enjoyed this. Yes, it has almost no choruses, but who needs them anyways?
It starts strong, but becomes quite samey. Solid effort nonetheless.
Well made, but nothing too special. Would listen to again.
Overstaying its welcome: The album. It starts fine enough, but could easily do without three or four songs less.
Not my favorite R.E.M. record but a great record nonetheless. I could do without Hairshirt, but that is my only complaint.
Certainly a skilled musician, but nit my cup of tea. The Album is not bad by any means, but alright at most.
The whole thing sure is well made and Chic know how to play. But man, I do not care about that kind of music.
>We want to do something different and hope you like it
>continues to make the most basic yee-haw country ever
It was alright. Did I care about music like that before? No. Do I care about music like that now that I've given it a listen? Still no.
Fun, but quite samey. It felt like Get It On stretched over 40 minutes.
I swear to god if I have to listen to that orchestral hit one more time, I go completely insane.
How on earth is this required listening? The album is alright but that's about it.
Unfortunately one of my - if not the - least favorite Beatles record. Does that mean it's bad? No. But their output has way stronger records.
Energetic fun, doesn't overstay its welcome. Would listen to again.
Knowing only Don't You Want Me going in, I was looking forward to an album full of synth bangers. Unfortunately I was disappointed; most of the songs lack in energy and are clearly worse in overall production quality than DYWM.
I'm torn: On the one hand I love this record to bits, on the other hand I never want to listen to it again start to finish. It's good, it really is - but its a challenge every time.
I came in expecting to hate it, but in the end it was just music that I didn't care about; which is somehow worse. The songs itself are alright.
When I started my journey I believed that any record would deserve a review that is at least two sentences long. So here is another one.
Music to fall asleep to. Not bad in any way, but not a necessary piece of music either.
The record was a bit overwhelming. I appreciate the energy, but it is not an album I would listen to on a daily basis.
I like The White Stripes but must admit: This is not the album you should listen to. Not even top 3.
I get it, the man had sex. I knew it before, he has a son whose music I enjoy way more.
The album is fine, what can I say? Fuck Morrissey though (not sexually)
What can I say? It's Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Great songs, the best album - production-wise speaking - since Abbey Road. Rightfully labeled a timeless classic.
Not great, not terrible. For the first time in my life I couldn't wait to hear Every Breath You Take, after that I couldn't wait for the album to be over.
I feared to not like it, but had a great time. It doesn't overstay its welcome, which helps.
Unfortunately I had David Crosbys If I Could Only Remember My Name just yesterday, which I personally prefer. After The Gold Rush is still a great album though.
Sadly the Big Lebowski joke has already been made. Anyways, hate is a strong word, but I don't care about the fucking Eagles, man.
Hated it in the beginning, but came around and ended up really enjoying it. Greenman is pretty much a proto King Gizzard song, which is a plus.
It was fun to listen to, but basically a Dylon cover project. Wouldn't mind putting it on on a sunny day.
Long but fun. Was kind of afraid that I would dislike it, but that fear was unfounded.
Great as a background on a sunny morning, a bit boring as it is. A mixed bag.
Bland country rock. VERY samey. An annoyance.
Usually I am no fan of live records but this one is different. The setting is special and the energy is really great.
Just the right amount of weird. A truly fascinating record.
I understand the importance of reggae, but it's not for me. It's glorified background music.
It is really great. Deceptacon towers a bit over everything else, but a great record nonetheless.
Solid alternative rock effort. Haa it's length unfortunately.
I see why people dislike it but to me this is a really great record to listen to. Yes, its a slow instrumental effort where not much is going on, but it somehow manages to never be boring.
Not the biggest fan of this kind of jazz. Did the mistake to listen to the full two hour set, an experience I can only describe as grating.
This is my kind of jazz music. Laid bsck yet intricate
Very beautiful record, but I rarely listen to it from start to finish. Not because it's bad, it really isn't, but because it's often too much.
Perfect if one's into the more pop side of new wave. Enjoyed it quite a bit.
Kinda fun but also kinda annoying. I'm just not the crowd for funk.
As much as I like Blur, this is NOT an album I return to. It's solid, but that's about it.
Fun, but a bit too long. Did like it, but wouldn't listen to in full in the foreseeable future.
I've been promised electronica, which I love very much, but all I got was a supercut of cheesy 80s/90s rompler sins.
