Popular Reviews

Man what a tough listen. It is pretty long and there is not much happening. It’s a load of nothing, really. The only thing there is a lot of, is mumbling. Very easy to rate. 1/5

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson

Fair album, but I was just incredibly quickly bored with it. Afterwards it felt pretty forgettable. Nothing really wrong with it, just very boring. 2/5

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5

I found myself pretty confused while listening to this album. I really struggled to understand what this album was trying to be. It obviously is a hip-hop album, but it seems to be really stuck between ages and unsure which one it belongs to. There is nothing really bad about it, but the confusion ensured a not very high rating for me. 2/5

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies

Unremarkable, this could have played in the background in a waiting area and I wouldn't have noticed the music at any point during the album. 2/5

The Yes Album by Yes

Well, this is just a bit too much out there for my taste. I don't mind a bit of progressive rock, but I couldn't find enough to be happy about on this album. There isn't anything bad really, but it is just a bit too estranging. 3/5

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Aug 25 2025

Generally just a bit samey and boring, 2/5. Opening and closing tracks were the highlights of the album for me.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Aug 26 2025

Nice album, given the current status of the world. Good flow between songs, nice theming 5/5

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Aug 27 2025

Very strong beginning with obviously great guitar work, however, the second half drags on a bit too much for my taste. 3,5/5

Aug 29 2025

Not a big Dylan fan. Not much on here that is horrible however just not really anything that sticks out either. 2/5

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Sep 01 2025

Not a prog guy, but a reasonably accessible album with minimal complications. The title track is a nice and enjoyable song. 3/5

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Sep 02 2025

A lovely country album that contains all the things a country album should have. Furthermore, how can you hate on Dolly too much? 4/5 since it is not my favorite genre.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Sep 03 2025

One of the best all-girl R&B albums I have ever heard. To be honest, there haven't been many, but I really liked this one. The hit song 'Waterfalls' was, in my opinion, one of the weaker songs. 4/5

american dream by LCD Soundsystem
Sep 04 2025

The fewer words written about this album, the better. 1/5

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
Sep 05 2025

Quality recording of a very well-performed live show. Cash has a great voice and a great storytelling voice throughout the songs. Compact, with many great songs. 4/5

Abraxas by Santana
Sep 08 2025

Good album, Santana's musicality is, of course, excellent. The album could have been better with some more lyrics throughout the songs. 3/5

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Sep 09 2025

Classic albums with an undeniably massive impact. However, the band sounds like it still has to find its footing a bit; therefore, it lands at a 4/5 rating.

Sep 10 2025

Just an unremarkable country album with a voice that I personally really cannot stand. Just way too nasal. 2/5

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Sep 11 2025

First album where I was totally unfamiliar with any work made by the artist. Many country albums were generated recently, so there is some material for comparison. Not as good as Dolly Parton´s 4/5 album, but better than Dwight Yoakam's 2/5 album, so the rating of 3/5 is easily determined. Just a good country album, with not too many positive surprises, but no negative surprises either. 3/5

Sep 12 2025

Favorite album by one of my favorite bands. Top 3 album of all time, in my opinion. No more words needed. 5/5

Horses by Patti Smith
Sep 15 2025

Really tough listen. Patti Smith´s music is more art than music for me. And it´s an art form which just doesn´t resonate with me. Was waiting for the album to end pretty early on. 1/5

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Sep 16 2025

THE blueprint for a pop album, delivered by the Wilson brothers in 1966. The big hits are, of course, universally beloved; however, the entire album is a crash course in what makes a great pop song. 5/5

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Sep 17 2025

Though Jazz isn't exactly my taste, this album starts excellently with some very strong tracks. Towards the end, however, there is just a bit too much fat on the album, and I found myself losing some attention. Still, however, one of the better Jazz albums I listened to, but I remain not a very big fan of the genre. 3/5

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Sep 18 2025

I'm totally unfamiliar with this band and, therefore, this album as well. I was positively surprised, as it gave me strong CCR vibes. However, there were not enough positives on this album to warrant a higher rating. 3/5

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Sep 19 2025

Second Johnny Cash album for me, after the San Quentin album, not too long ago. This one is more famous, I believe; however, I thought it was pretty unremarkable compared to the San Quentin album. Still good, though, just not as good as the 4-star San Quentin one. 3/5

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Sep 22 2025

Fair album, but I was just incredibly quickly bored with it. Afterwards it felt pretty forgettable. Nothing really wrong with it, just very boring. 2/5

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Sep 23 2025

An interesting album by a band with many bigger hits in its catalog. However, it is very Talking Heads and is pleasant to listen to. A big hit or two could have lifted this album to a 4 out of 5; now it falls just short of that. 3/5

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Sep 24 2025

Good, yet unremarkable album, especially from the time period it is from. There are many similar-sounding albums. There isn't much wrong with it, but I can't give it any higher than a 2/5.

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Sep 25 2025

One of many Beatles imitators around at the time. However, this attempt to copy the Fab Four has been quite successful. Many songs appear to be catchy, with some surprising hooks, and a nice variety of songs throughout the album. I wasn't that convinced before listening to it, due to the mixed reviews; however, it scored much better for me than expected. Been doubting between giving it 3 and 4 stars, but will give it the benefit of the doubt, so 4 stars it is. 4/5

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Sep 26 2025

Bring back swing music! While it won´t be my favorite genre in music, the world can definitely use more swing. This album is a great example of the power of swing, getting me moving in my seat throughout. The hit ´Buona Sera´ was familiar, but the rest I did not know. 4/5

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Sep 29 2025

Not a great Stones fan, and this album is not one of my favorites from them even. I found it quite monotonous and except for the first track, the big hit ´Sympathy for the Devil´, there were not really any highlights on the album. Not bad however, so 2/5.

Disraeli Gears by Cream
Sep 30 2025

Unnecessarily complicated album, fitting very much in the era during which it was recorded. Recording quality appeared to be high for the time, however, the songs were just way more complicated than necessary in my opinion. Just giving it the benefit of the doubt by giving it three stars, due to the excellent individual qualities of the musicians. 3/5

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Oct 01 2025

Amazing, not overcomplicated rock album. This one just makes me want to drive off in a nice old classic American car into the sunset. However, I think it might be better that I don´t do that, might save me quite a few speeding tickets. 5/5

Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Oct 02 2025

The title of the album really fits my impression of the music: some nice background music in a club or coffee bar on a Tuesday night. While it really isn't that bad anywhere, the highs just really don't lift it towards anything more than a 2/5.

So Much For The City by The Thrills
Oct 03 2025

My goodness, this record is a drag. It is meant to be an attempt at the ´Sunny California´ records from the sixties. But it falls well short of achieving that, just like it falls short of accomplishing anything else. How on earth did this album end up on this list? There is really nothing standing out on this album. A well-deserved 1/5

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Oct 06 2025

It´s jazz, it´s instrumental, it´s pretty well played according to my untrained ear, it´s not my style but it´s not bad. 2/5

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Oct 07 2025

Nice album, fitting into the timeframe it came out into. The voice of Jack has always been mesmerizing to me and the song 'We're Going to be Friends' was a nice throwback to a song I have long forgotten. All in all, the album falls well short of a perfect score, but is way better than mediocre. 4/5

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Oct 08 2025

My goodness, what a horrific album. It seemed to never end. It very much is a product of its time. The industrial sounds just cannot interest me at all. Very easy to rate this album. 1/5

Tommy by The Who
Oct 09 2025

Having heard about the album, but not having heard the album, I was very enthusiastic about this album. I really like rock operas in general, and so I was looking forward to finally listening to it in its entirety. However, it was very underwhelming to me. It felt very samey throughout the entire album, and I found myself bored with it quite quickly. The music is still good, and the songs can be enjoyable separately. Therefore this album cannot score any higher for me than it does. Was expecting at least a 4/5, but it falls short of that. 3/5

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Oct 10 2025

Came into this album with zero expectations, since I am completely unfamiliar with this artist or any of his songs. I was very positively surprised by this album, even though it is not one of my favorite genres. The entire album was very pleasant to listen to. However it could have trimmed just a tiny bit of fat of the album to make it perfect, not it falls just short of that perfect score. 4/5

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Oct 13 2025

A really tough listen. The singing style really is not to my taste. There is also just a lot of fat on this album; it could have been much shorter. As a big Harry Potter fan, hearing the last song was a nice memory, but that really was the only highlight for me. It saves it from the lowest rating. 2/5

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Oct 14 2025

A classic, old-school hip-hop album. I like the aggression in the Beastie Boys and this album in particular. It doesn't beat around the bush with its anger, directed at a plethora of things. It was concise and packed a lot of power, however it missed the peak moment taking the album to an absolute top rating. 4/5

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Oct 15 2025

The definition of a ´just fine´ album. The music was very good, though not extraordinary. I am not a fan of the singing style of Jack White; however, this album was pretty good. Overall, pretty enjoyable without major highlights. 3/5

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Oct 16 2025

Man, what a tough listen. I am just not a big fan of Nick Cave's singing style. This is also the second Nick Cave album this week, which does not help this rating. But I feel this album is significantly worse compared to the Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus double album. This album features a lot of heavy religious lyrics, which also do not appeal to me at all. Easy 1/5 unfortunately.

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
Oct 17 2025

A good album, though not a lot more than that. I personally do believe this album could have been left out of this list, since there are many better albums like this one on the list already. Fred Neil has a pleasant voice to listen to and the music itself is also pretty good, it just does not stick out at all in this list. 3/5

Fragile by Yes
Oct 20 2025

Nice progressive rock album. The song 'Roundabout' is of course iconic, I am mainly a fan of the bass playing. Overall strong album. 4/5

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Oct 21 2025

I started out as really not a fan of Kate Bush, however this album was better than expected. Still, her overall voice is not to my liking but listening to an album in its entirety places it in a much better context, so an unexpected high rating for this album. 3/5

Oct 22 2025

Third album by Cash in my first 50 albums here. I was not a fan of the artist and genre in general, however, these three albums made sure my opinion of him has improved. This album was the best of the three. Fragile, honest and some great cover songs on this album. 5/5

Emperor Tomato Ketchup by Stereolab
Oct 23 2025

French language and some odd sounding experimental music? It started out as a simple 1/5 for me. However throughout listening to the album it grew on me, with some interesting listens. The title track was an interesting piece of music and throughout I found it oddly fun to listen to. 4/5

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Oct 24 2025

Great album by an all-time great artist. Starting out very strongly with a classic song, and building upon that throughout the rest of the album. However, in my opinion, the album is a bit too monotonous. It could have been a bit better with some more variation. Therefore it falls just short of a 5/5. 4/5

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Oct 27 2025

A very important Glam album historically, however the glam movement doesn't really do it for me. It all just sounds a bit samey. This is also the case for this album, it doesn't really go anywhere in my opinion. The hit song 'Get it On' is by far the best song on the album and the only reason it does not score 2/5. Final score 3/5

Oct 28 2025

A good hip-hop album with some strong songs, however it is a very early rap album and is very rough in some parts. The DJ is a bit too trigger happy on the sound effects for my taste and also the raps just don't have the depth some later albums do. You do however hear the potential in the group and it is no wonder this group become as big as it did. 2/5

The Last Of The True Believers by Nanci Griffith
Oct 29 2025

Really, why was this album chosen to be on here? I don't really like country in general, but this is not even a good country album. The voice is too nasal for my liking and the songs are very unremarkable. It was short, but still too long. 1/5

Oct 30 2025

An all-time classic. Is it too edgy and angry? Yes, but it is very much an excellent product of its time. There are misogynistic lyrics in this album as well, but due to the sometimes absurd lyrics it is hard to take too serious. 'Stan' is one of the greatest rap songs of all time and very inventive, along with just a great cohesion in the album. 5/5

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Oct 31 2025

What a complete nothingburger of an album. In my opinion, all the music made by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, both collectively and individually is very redundant with only a couple of exceptions. It is not bad in any way, but it just very quickly becomes background sound to me. There aren't really any things standing out on the album. It was pretty long but it did not feel any longer than it did, so I cannot give it a 1/5 rating. It will be a very very low 2/5.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Nov 03 2025

Perhaps the best album of the 00's. There was no escaping this record back then, and for good reason. The album is packed to the brim with hit singles. And even outside of those are a couple of excellent songs, like for example 'Some Unholy War'. Amy's voice takes you on an excellent journey. 5/5

Nov 04 2025

One of the most important albums of all time, so I feel almost guilty to not give it full marks, but I just can't. The beginning is just excellent and 'With a Little Help From My Friends' is one of my personal favorite Beatles tracks. However the middle part is just a bit weaker to me, with the low point being 'Within You Without You'. It just sounds annoying to me. The ending is strong again, however there are just a couple too many points in the album I did not really enjoy to give it the highest rating. 4/5

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
Nov 05 2025

I am always a big fan of horn sections in music, and this album has plenty of that, so that is a big plus. The first half of the album is great, however it slips a bit in the second half, as the horns take more of a back seat as well. Really the first 4 songs are the highlights for me. 4/5

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Nov 06 2025

Just another country album, nothing really standing out for me. It isn't bad, there is just nothing special. It is really full of clichés lyrically, which even stood out to me who never really pays much attention to lyrics. 'Hillbilly Highway' could have been a parody song and then I would have said it was a bit too obvious. It just makes it past the minimum mark since it was at least somewhat enjoyable to listen to. 2/5

Welcome To The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Nov 07 2025

For me the definition of a 'good' album. It is overall good, has some highlights but not really that many. Some weaker points but they are easily ignored. Some massive hits on there as well. And an interesting concept behind it. It just doesn't really do anything exceptionally well in my opinion. Therefore I can't give it any higher than what I do here, compared to the 1000 other albums on this list. 3/5

Different Class by Pulp
Nov 10 2025

How very British. This album is full to the brink with Britpop. Lyrics are very horny, which is kind of off-putting. However towards the end of the album my attention quickly faded, hardly noticing when the album was over. Not a lot of really bad stuff, but not very enjoyable either. 2/5

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Nov 11 2025

This album fits very well into its time frame, however it falls a bit flat in every characteristic for the time. It isn't really upliftinglike The early Beatles, it definitely doesn't sound like the Beach Boys, by far not as experimental as the late Beatles. It just doesn't really do anything. 'California Dreaming' is however an all-time classic hit and will never be forgotten. It is easily the best song on this album as well. It almost lifts it to a 3/5, however it falls just short of that. 2/5

Nov 12 2025

My goodness what a drag. Not helped by the fact that this is the second Pulp album in two days I've had to listen to. This one is even more a load of nothingness. I wouldn't know how to describe this album. It is a pretentious Bowie album, but there are no highlights on this album at all. The never-ending outro on the last song is symbolic for the pretentious load of horsedung on this album. Easy 1/5

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Nov 13 2025

Strong start, slightly weaker ending, however overall a pleasant listening experience with a bit of everything in there. 3/5

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Nov 14 2025

Not a big fan of Neil Young's music, but this album was surprisingly pleasant to listen to. Some very sharp commentary as expected from Young, but accompanied by above expectations music. I however remain not a big fan of his singing style, which for me drags this album down quite a lot. I was doubting a lot between giving this album 3 or 4 stars, but ended up giving it the benefit of the doubt. 4/5

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Nov 17 2025

Very nice record. The overall feeling of the album is very upbeat. We got the Beat is of course the big hit and makes me feel pretty happy overall when hearing it. Just short of a perfect score. 4/5

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Nov 18 2025

A beautiful album full of covers, Willie Nelson's fragile yet beautiful voice shines in it, yet there is not a lot in it for me to make it really stand out. It is an honest but unfortunately slightly unremarkable record. 3/5

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Nov 19 2025

I don't really know what to think of this album. It is definitely not an easy listen. On one hand there is not a lot going on, on the other it is very complicated. It tries really hard to be one thing, but is not really anything at all to me. A very mystifying album. I thought it was good, but somehow not very enjoyable. A real odd ball and therefore tough to judge. Let's be safe and put it slap bang in the middle. 3/5

White Light by Gene Clark
Nov 20 2025

Little notes about this album, just 50 minutes spent on an album that could very easily have been removed from this list. This never felt like an album someone really should have listened to, there are many albums like it that are way better. 1/5

Nov 21 2025

This music may be amazing for loads of people, it just isn't for me. It might be my fault, but I just hear a lot of noise that doesn't make any sense. 1/5

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Nov 24 2025

Very enjoyable listen in my opinion. The mostly upbeat and happy songs work really well, in particular the two hit songs from this album. But with the other songs this trend is continued as well. The album is remarkably devoid of weak points. I never expected it, but this album definitely deserves the full marks. 5/5

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Nov 25 2025

Not a big rap fan, but an enjoyable album to listen through. Some songs I was already familiar with, though I am not sure where I heard them before. Yes it is offensive at times, which reminds me of the more classic rap albums of the 90's. Which is a good thing in this case. Has it made me a bigger rap fan? No, that it definitely did not do. But was it one of the most enjoyable rap albums to listen through? Yes, sir it was. 4/5

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
Nov 26 2025

Just a bunch of background noises to me. It was not really annoying, but it wasn't really anything to be honest. Someone who studied music will undoubtedly say this is some amazing piece of art. But I listen to be entertained, which I very much wasn't with this record. 1/5

The Trinity Session by Cowboy Junkies
Nov 27 2025

Unremarkable, this could have played in the background in a waiting area and I wouldn't have noticed the music at any point during the album. 2/5

Kimono My House by Sparks
Nov 28 2025

A pleasant oddball of an album. An atypical glam-rock album with some very pleasant sounding songs. Personally, a full album of this is a bit much, but the songs individually are well written and performed. 3/5

Moondance by Van Morrison
Dec 01 2025

Very good album invoking a feeling of coziness and warmth during a rainy nighttime car drive

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Dec 02 2025

Very pleasant album to listen to, with a little dull middle part unfortunately, it was well on its way to full marks. Now it unfortunately falls just short. 4/5

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Dec 03 2025

Yeah, another country album, like many others. Jennings' voice is better in my opinion than most I've heard before, but in reality the songs are a bit of a nothingburger to me. I really would like to give it 3 stars, but cannot really think of many reasons to do so. 2/5

Violator by Depeche Mode
Dec 04 2025

Good album with several highlights, but it really drags along too much in places. Just short of a 4/5. 3/5

GREY Area by Little Simz
Dec 05 2025

Really not my genre, but this album is surprisingly good. The artist is very sharp lyric wise, there is quite a lot of variety on the album as well. It just misses the slam dunk highlight on this album which would raise its appeal even higher. I could really recommend this album. 4/5

Odelay by Beck
Dec 08 2025

A fine album, just missing a couple of standout moments to really elevate this album up to a higher rating. Furthermore it is also a bit too monotonous for my taste, it could have had a bit more variety on the record. 3/5

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Dec 10 2025

Who actually dislikes Bossa Nova? This album just makes you very optimistic and upbeat. The album flows nicely from one song into another and before you know it, it unfortunately is over already. Could listen to this over and over again. 5/5

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Dec 11 2025

Good album, few highlights but Jack White's voice just isn't for me. 4/5

Liquid Swords by GZA
Dec 12 2025

Incredibly boring in my opinion. I wouldn't be able to name anything that stands out on this album if you asked me tomorrow. Not really violent, not really connecting, not really angry. What kind of rap album is this trying to be? 1/5

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Dec 15 2025

What a load of pretentious BS. Can anyone tell me what they actually like about the album? Because I couldn't really find anything. 1/5

Dec 16 2025

Not a big Dylan fan, however this album is quite well done by him. It just is a bit too monotonous for my liking. The hits are there and stand out because they are well known, but the rest of the album lacks standout moments for me. 3/5

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Dec 17 2025

Very good album, just missing some highlights for me to really put it at the top. But enough variety and pleasant songs to listen to. Only song I didn't really like was the title track, ironically. 4/5

Achtung Baby by U2
Dec 18 2025

When I saw I got a U2 album, I got pretty exciting. However this one was a big disappointment. It really falls flat, with little excitement along the way. 2/5

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Dec 19 2025

Pleasant listening, mainly upbeat vibes. Not enough highlights for full marks, but a well deserved 4/5

Marquee Moon by Television
Dec 22 2025

Pretty boring, not really going anywhere. I guess there are many better albums like it and lots of better albums in other genres as well. 2/5

21 by Adele
Dec 23 2025

I am not really into her music, but when looking at the tracknlist, man was it full of well-known hits. But the album tracks really make this album sound like a singular unit. Never thought I would give an Adele album this high of a rating. 4/5

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Dec 24 2025

The definition of a timeless classic. The total runtime is slightly long, but the time flies by when listening to it. The songs on here could have been made last year and I would have believed it. Stevie is flawles. Just fabulous all around. Easy 5/5

Dec 25 2025

Man what a tough listen. It is pretty long and there is not much happening. It’s a load of nothing, really. The only thing there is a lot of, is mumbling. Very easy to rate. 1/5

Dec 26 2025

I feel like it is tough to rate a Christmas album, especially around Christmas time. The songs are well-known, well-executed and well-produced. But I feel as though it is hard to do anything special with it, which it therefore didn’t do. 3/5

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Dec 29 2025

I am really not a Simon and Garfunkel fan, but this album made me appreciate the artists a lot more. It was a pleasant listening experience, with all the songs nicely coming together as a unit. 4/5

Dec 30 2025

When I started my vinyl collection a couple of years ago. This was among the first five albums I bought. Is it any surprise this scores any lower than he full marks? 5/5

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Dec 31 2025

Pleasant to listen to. Nice to hear the original of a song I only knew in my native tongue. The emotion in the voice is very audible and nice to hear. However it is a dated record which drags it down a bit. 3/5

1989 by Taylor Swift
Jan 01 2026

Fair album, however I feel like there are many better albums by Taylor Swift that didn't make this list. But it's a middle of the road poppy album, but very well executed. Not the biggest fan of her music, but it always is enjoyable. 3/5

NEU! 75 by Neu!
Jan 02 2026

What a complete airball. This album isn’t going anywhere, isn’t doing anything at all for me and therefore isn’t pleasant to listen to at all. It just keeps going in a samey tempo for about 45 minutes without anything special going on. 1/5

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jan 05 2026

A very good album, but very much a product of its time. However it made me think: was this album just following the trend at the time or did it set it? I am more inclined toward the second option. However the weak interludes detract a point from this otherwise great album. 4/5

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Jan 06 2026

There is quite some pretentiousness on this album, but somehow it fits the vocal style of Robert Plant like a glove. Great debut, with lots of very nice songs on it. 5/5

Jan 07 2026

Do I need this record in my life? Absolutely not, that’s for sure. But was it unpleasant to listen to? No definitely not as well. I therefore cannot give it a 1 star review. But it would have been a killer album on the list ‘1001 albums with unremarkable background music you should listen to before you die’. Because it does that really well. 2/5

Jan 08 2026

Yeah this is definitely an album... Not really much to say about it. Just very unremarkable. Should I have listened to this before I die? Apparently so, but I wouldn't agree. Just a very unremarkable album scoring just above the lowest mark, since it isn't bad but really not good either. 2/5

Soul Mining by The The
Jan 09 2026

Very much a product of its time. It is just very early 80s in every bit. There aren't a lot of things on this album that jump out of that frame. But maybe this was one of the key albums in constructing that frame, I am not familiar enough with the music to say so. I was very much doubting about the rating for this album, but it falls just short of a 4 mark. 3/5

Power In Numbers by Jurassic 5
Jan 12 2026

I found myself pretty confused while listening to this album. I really struggled to understand what this album was trying to be. It obviously is a hip-hop album, but it seems to be really stuck between ages and unsure which one it belongs to. There is nothing really bad about it, but the confusion ensured a not very high rating for me. 2/5

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Jan 13 2026

A very good album, but I just don't really understand what it tries to be. That is probably on me, but it scores an average rating for now. 3/5

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Jan 14 2026

Close, really close to a perfect score here. The album is upbeat, fun to listen to and Cyndi Lauper has a pleasant singing voice to listen to. There are some absolute well-known classics on here but the other tracks aren't much worse. Why am I not giving this five stars? I don't know, let's give it 5 anyway. 5/5

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Jan 15 2026

Yeah, it is unclear to me what this album wants to do. It is very pleasant to listen to this music while in the sun on a festival field somewhere. I can tell from experience. But is it really memorable and moving? Well not to me. 'Under the Pressure' is a really nice song though imo, moving it up from a 2/5 to a slightly higher rating. 3/5

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Jan 16 2026

Unremarkable, not very memorable. Only the second song stood out a bit to me, the rest is just unrecognisable background music. 1/5

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jan 19 2026

Positively surprised by this. A very rich, varied sound throughout the entire album. 4/5

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jan 20 2026

What do they excel in? Nothing really, but they do everything right and made an album which is very pleasant to listen to. 4/5

Go Girl Crazy by The Dictators
Jan 21 2026

Not very good, not very bad. Just an overall nice punk rock album. It is a bit monotonous overall, with most songs being samey in terms of tempo and theming, but since those things are overall chosen quite well, it is not a big drawback. 3/5

Locust Abortion Technician by Butthole Surfers
Jan 22 2026

I have never done any drugs, but I imagine this is what being on a bad trip whilst having done three different types of drugs feels like. There is some musicianship hidden very deep underneath the noise, but my goodness what a horrible execution. 1/5

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Jan 23 2026

There is just simply too much Stephen Stills on this list. Is this album bad? No definitely not. Is it noticably different from the other ones on this list? No definitely not. There are some nice songs, but many monotonous songs you have heard before from him. Won't give this one a listen in its entirety again. 2/5

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jan 26 2026

Artists wanting to make an interesting longer album, take notes. This album is on the longer side, but keeps the listener interested by varying lots throughout the entire album. However I am just not a fan of the singer’s voice, costing this album the perfect rating. 4/5

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 27 2026

Easy five stars, didn't even need to listen, but of course I still did. This album is in my personal top 5 albums of all time. Pretty much all songs are killer in my opinion. The best debut album for any band of all time (excluding supergroups). All members are terrific in their craft and showcase that on this record. I can keep going, but it is an easy rating. 5/5

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jan 28 2026

Very very generic album, nothing standing out. Just really boring. Some tracks I was familiar with, but definitely not memorable. 2/5

OK by Talvin Singh
Jan 29 2026

What on earth have I been listening to? I guess the only positive thing to say about it is that is unique. Really really not my type of music. 1/5

Duck Rock by Malcolm McLaren
Jan 30 2026

Odd album, but I personally really liked it. But I can't really give it any higher than I did, since it isn't my favorite genre and the oddities were a bit too much in the end. 3/5

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Feb 02 2026

Well sung, some nicely written songs on this album, but it really doesn't stand out that well. What makes this album special? 3/5

Feb 03 2026

Yeah, I am not a big Talking Heads fan. This album is just coming up short on a lot of things for me. Is it really bad? No not really, but it just is slightly annoying, slightly nothing really. 2/5

Germfree Adolescents by X-Ray Spex
Feb 04 2026

Surprisingly good album. Really fun music, with quite some variation in it as well. Just misses the exclamation point somewhere to really elevate this up to the highest mark. 4/5

Feb 05 2026

While I certainly don't mind a sharp, witty and rough-around-the-edges rap album, this one is just really a bit too much in all directions. It's taking its anger a bit too far, using too many profane words to the point of them losing their effect. It just isn't that great to me, Ice Cube has done much better. 2/5

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Feb 06 2026

Just so incredibly boring. What did really stand out on this album? I honestly don't know. This one will be forgotten very fast. 1/5

Be by Common
Feb 09 2026

One of the more positive surprises of the journey so far. Didn’t really know what to expect of thiamine but it was an allround good album. Just missing some exclamation points to give it top marks, but a very well-deserved score anyways. 4/5

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Feb 10 2026

Definitely not a fan of the artists, but this album was better than expected. It was quite a nice listen and I somehow wasn't bored listening through this album, which happened with most other albums by any of these artists. Some nice variation going on. 4/5

The Yes Album by Yes
Feb 11 2026

Well, this is just a bit too much out there for my taste. I don't mind a bit of progressive rock, but I couldn't find enough to be happy about on this album. There isn't anything bad really, but it is just a bit too estranging. 3/5

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Feb 12 2026

Boring, just very boring. Not good, not bad. 2/5

Central Reservation by Beth Orton
Feb 13 2026

While the music isn't my taste and quite boring in my opinion, her voice was very pleasant to listen to. The songs could have been a bit shorter if you ask me, some were dragging on a bit too long. 3/5

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Feb 16 2026

Man that first half is just heavenly. And it doesn't really let up after that, but it is just impossible to beat the first half. Two of those first halves would have made it a 6/5, now it is just stuck at the perfect mark. 5/5

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Feb 17 2026

Yeah it wasn't a bad listening experience, but it was just lacking lyrics imo. And I am not particularly a lyrics guy, but this album didn't really get a message across while the message is one of the most important things in hip-hop to me. 2/5

Feb 19 2026

If there is one word to describe it, it would be ‘rough’. The music is rough, the recording quality isn’t great either (though I realise it is an older record, but still) and therefore it is a very rough listen. 2/5

Ramones by Ramones
Feb 20 2026

Simple, monotonous, but a great classic. If it knows what it can be doing well, why change it? 4/5

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Feb 23 2026

Nice to listen to album, although maybe a bit too much easy listening, holding it back from the perfect marks. 4/5

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Feb 24 2026

I personally really dislike Radiohead and this album is no exception. It just feels as something too complicated for me to understand, and I don't feel like I want to understand it either. This album is not the worst out of the Radiohead albums and isn't completely horrible however. 2/5

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Feb 25 2026

Pretty good, just not outstanding in any way. With the exception of the final track, the album is pretty forgettable but amusing to listen to. 3/5

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Feb 26 2026

A model album for me. Short and to the point with its songs. Songs are well put together and great individually as well as collectively. Just lacking the exclamation mark and the variety for the highest score. 4/5

Kid A by Radiohead
Feb 27 2026

Radiohead music isn't for everyone, and it definitely isn't for me. What a load of noise and random sounds. 1/5

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Mar 02 2026

While the album is pleasant to listen to and has some good songs on it, it is unclear to me what this album is trying to achieve. It's just there in its place being good, but it's not trying to really be anything. 3/5

Imagine by John Lennon
Mar 03 2026

Decent album, some nice songs on there. Of course it has the iconic title track, but there were some nice other songs as well. Just not enough sticking out for me to warrant a higher rating. 3/5

Murmur by R.E.M.
Mar 04 2026

Musically it is a very solid album, but I just really dislike the singer's voice. I cannot help it, it is just very annoying to me in any song by the band. I wish I could ignore it, but it is dragging this rating back. 3/5

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Mar 05 2026

What a classic. A massive collection of hits on this album, and the other songs are excellent as well. A nice coherent album, with various way of interesting the listener. 5/5

Abbey Road by Beatles
Mar 06 2026

I mean, come on! 5/5

Garbage by Garbage
Mar 09 2026

I was only familiar with one song before listening to this and I wasn't a fan of it. However this album has pleasantly surprised me and was much better than anticipated. 4/5

Mar 10 2026

I somewhat like my Irish folk from time to time, however it seems that my limit is around 35 minutes, after that it becomes to repetitive. At least this album has taught me that. So it is hard to rate this album, but I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. 3/5

Mar 11 2026

Is this a bad album? Not at all. Should you really have listened to this album? Not at all either. 2/5

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Mar 12 2026

Jazz is a difficult genre for me to judge. It is not very accessible and since I am not the most avid listener, I tend to not really like most of it. However the stuff I do like, I like a lot. This however falls into the first category. I don't really understand the aim of this album and its music. It is likely on me for not understanding it, but I cannot give it a higher mark than I am doing now. 2/5

Mar 13 2026

This list asked me to spend over an hour listening to this album. Time I won’t be able to get back, but I very much wish I could. What a waste of time. 1/5

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Mar 16 2026

Tough album to rate for me. I don't have any strong connection to the mammoth figure that is David Bowie. His music just didn't click with me, perhaps if I was around when it was released it would have been better. This however is a relatively good Bowie album in my opinion, it is quite enjoyable, especially in the first half of it. Later on he starts losing me a bit, with some of the typical Bowie weirdness which just isn't for me. 3/5

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 17 2026

Wow, what a journey this album is. This album is on the long side, but with the exception of some small moments, it managed to maintain my full attention throughout. There are not enough highlights for me to warrant the max rating, but only just. 4/5

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Mar 18 2026

Really just an album. Overall good vibe, but it has some good, some bad. Not too long, not too short. Really middle of the road album with a middle of the road rating. 3/5

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Mar 19 2026

To me it is a pop album which tries to be more than that in a lot of different directions, but failing in all of them as well. The end result therefore is an album with little to no direction. 2/5

Wild Gift by X
Mar 20 2026

A fine punk album, but not really much more. It is a pretty pleasant listen, but it lacks the highlights to really earn the higher marks. 3/5

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Mar 23 2026

Yeah this one doesn’t really do much to me. A bit of a safe middle of the road album for me, with a safe middle of the road rating. 3/5

All Directions by The Temptations
Mar 24 2026

I love this genre and it always leaves me wanting to listen to it more, so it really cannot score very low here for me. However it just misses the final bit of oomph to put it in the highest category. 4/5

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Mar 25 2026

Pretty enjoyable album, even though I generally zone out when listening to this kind of music. When I am looking back at my ratings in a couple of months time I probably don't know why, but I really like this record and give it a higher rating than I think I would have done with many similar records. 4/5

Sea Change by Beck
Mar 26 2026

Pretty boring. It gets your attention at the start, but doesn’t really take it anywhere, making the experience fall flat. 2/5

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Mar 27 2026

There aren't too many rap albums on this list and so far all I have listened to have been really good. This one unfortunately falls a bit short of that. Maybe it is just the voice that is putting me off slightly or the fact it isn't as lyrically sharp as others I have listened to, but it will be an average rating for this one. 3/5

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Mar 30 2026

Very middle of the road. I didn't feel any strong emotions any way while listening to this album. The beginning was sort of exciting in my opinion but it faded toward the end. 3/5

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Mar 31 2026

Great album, I love this genre. However it just misses the absolute exclamation point for me to give this one the highest mark. 4/5

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Apr 01 2026

Fair album, just a bit too rough around the edges for my liking. 3/5

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Apr 02 2026

Usually I don't really care about lyrics much, but this album's lyrics raises it up to an acceptable rating for me. The music itself isn't much special, but its very sharp societal commentary makes this a worthwhile album for me. 3/5

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Apr 03 2026

The starting point and inspiration for so many albums on this list. Its impact alone warrants a high mark here. It however is a bit too monotonous for my liking to give it the highest marks. Thoroughly enjoyed listening through the entire thing however. 4/5

B-52's by The B-52's
Apr 06 2026

Nice upbeat music. 4/5

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Apr 07 2026

What a great listen. I was really dreading it beforehand, given its enormous length. But Ella's voice is something I hardly could get enough of. The only thing detracting from this is the instrumental part, this wasn't really necessary on an already pretty long album. 4/5

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Apr 08 2026

The opening track is of course very well known and lures you in, thinking you will have a good time, however it gets monotonous very quickly with just a load of organ all over the place. It even roughly repeats the first track later on on the album as well. Very underwhelming after a really great start. 2/5

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Apr 09 2026

I feel like the only reason this album gained any prominence, is due to the fact it came out in the only window when there was any interest in this kind of music. It feels very bland and generic for its time, with little to no songs standing out on the album. It isn't really bad at all, it just feels like a cheap effort to write according to what is popular. 2/5

Low-Life by New Order
Apr 10 2026

Yeah this was exactly what I expected from this band. Not really surprising therefore, but pretty nice to listen to overall. It lacked a bit of variety but overall it was a good listen. 3/5

Apr 13 2026

A bit too much of all the stuff I don't like in old school rap albums for me. It is somewhat too vague, too angry and the music isn't really standing out at all. 2/5

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Apr 14 2026

Good album, but it was just somewhat unremarkable, especially for Bowie's standards. Nothing really standing out here, but the quality is still pretty high. 3/5

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Apr 15 2026

Man, why does this man have 5 albums on this list. This is my second one and it sounds like absolute garbage again. What even is the aim of this music? 1/5

Femi Kuti by Femi Kuti
Apr 16 2026

Nice album, and finally some variety again in this list. Which it should definitely have more of. Not 5 Tom Waits albums for example, but more of this, music from around the world represented. 4/5

Apr 17 2026

In general a good yet unremarkable pop album. It is pleasant to listen to but doesn't really stand out much. Of course George Michael has an excellent voice, though it could be showcased more throughout. A bit too safe for my liking. 3/5

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Apr 20 2026

Fair Dylan album, not much standing out from this one compared to the others I have heard. I feel it is a lightly muted or toned down version of him. 3/5

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Apr 21 2026

This is the quintessential early 90’s rock album to me. Yeah some might have bigger hits on them but this is the complete product. A guide to the rock music at the time neatly packed in one apbum. 5/5

Beautiful Freak by Eels
Apr 22 2026

It started out beautifully, but it grows stale quite quickly. There is just one emotion with this band and all the songs are written with that emotion in mind. The songs are very well written though, just a bit monotonous. 3/5

Low by David Bowie
Apr 23 2026

There are many David Bowie albums on this list. Many of them are deservingly so, but for 'Low' it feels to me as if this list could have done without it. There is just too little on this album which is standing out. Tomorrow pretty much all of this album will be forgotten. 'Sound and Vision' is the most famous track on this album and the most memorable one. In addition to that one there is not a lot here. 2/5

Exile In Guyville by Liz Phair
Apr 24 2026

Great concept album. It really made me hate men, even though I am one as well. But this is no criticism of the album, it just proves that this album is very good at driving a point across. 3/5

25 by Adele
Apr 27 2026

I mean, this album was everywhere when it came out, so a lot of songs were well familiar to me. It feels a bit safer compared to the other Adele albums, keeping it between the lines. The album could have had a bit more variety for it to be even better. 3/5

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Apr 28 2026

I mean, the massive critical acclaim it has received wasn't for nothing. What an excellent trip of an album this is. It just doesn't take me to that amazing place for me. It really falls just short of the maximum rating. 4/5

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Apr 29 2026

Fine album, just a bit too safe in every possible way for me. 2/5

Whatever by Aimee Mann
Apr 30 2026

Yeah just album just sort of went by. Not really a lot of remarkable stuff on here. It is an album which is also a product of its time. The singing style of the singer also didn't really appeal to me. 1/5

Very by Pet Shop Boys
May 01 2026

It started out different then expected, but the album really improved during the course of the record. In the end a very enjoyable listen. 4/5

This album is of course one of the best known of all time, but David Bowie has never really done it for me. Not that this album is bad at all, it actually is pretty good, but I just don't really see the hype like most other people seem to do. 3/5

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 05 2026

I wasn't familiar with the artist or the music that much, but I was very positively surprised by it. It was generally pretty upbeat and the singer's voice took some getting used to, but in the end was also pretty pleasant to listen to. It just missed the exclamation mark for the full points. 4/5

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
May 06 2026

Very pleasant listening experience. Just a little too much organ for my taste and it doesn't really splash out anywhere. It stayed a little too much within the lines. 3/5

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
May 07 2026

Utterly forgettable. What makes this album stand out from others coming out at the same time? Nothing really. 1/5

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
May 08 2026

Pleasant jazz album, though I have heard more outstanding ones. It is a really easy listening one. 4/5

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
May 11 2026

A Classic, it immediately takes you to a nice little café in Havana where they serve the freshest of Mojitos. I like being in a place like that, so I like this album for that reason. 5/5

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
May 12 2026

Most of the songs form albums on this list are about love. And to me this is the essential album about making love. Therefore this has to be one of the top albums on this list. 5/5

Back In Black by AC/DC
May 13 2026

One of the most iconic rock albums of all time and for good reason. Many songs from this album have become iconic on their own and you can easily hear why. This is the blueprint for a killer rock album without too much bullshit on it. 5/5

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
May 14 2026

Quite forgettable. This album really is all over the place, there is just too much of everything on here, its lacking focus. 2/5

Dare! by The Human League
May 15 2026

Of course the dynamite is saved until the very end here with the big hit. But overall this is a fair album. Mostly upbeat and pleasant to listen to. It lacks the real exclamation mark, with the exception of course of the final song, but it takes a bit too long to get there. 3/5

May 18 2026

Well this album has aged. I don't really know whether I think it is really good or not. It definitely is not bad, but very much a product of its time. Pleasant to listen to, but I think it will fall just short of 4 stars here. 3/5

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
May 19 2026

Enjoyable, but not very much more than that. Probably down to me, but I personally expected a bit more from this artist. 3/5

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
May 20 2026

The signature album by my favorite band of all time. Perhaps not my personal favorite, but it easily deserves the 5 stars for me here. 5/5

May 21 2026

Yeah this one just passed by. There is of course one big hit on here but other than that no songs really stuck with me after listening to it. 2/5

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 22 2026

My expectations for this album were very low. It did surpass those, but not by enough to make this one really good. 3/5

May 25 2026

Great listen. It starts out as an all-timer but slacks off just a little bit too much towards the end for the full marks. 4/5

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
May 26 2026

Perfectly fine album to listen to. McCartney has written some beautiful songs which are performed well. However it falls a bit flat to me in general. It goes and goes well, but it doesn't really excite enough. 4/5

Vespertine by Björk
May 27 2026

Yeah this just isn't for me. It's well executed and the songs are pretty nice, but I'm just very bored quickly throughout the album. 2/5

May 28 2026

Wow, I didn't really know much about this album but it blew me away. Very powerful lyrics about meaningful themes at the time. Themes which are also still relevant today. Yeah it sounds somewhat dated musically, but the message stands out very strongly. 5/5

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
May 29 2026

It is probably down to me, but I expected a lot more from this. I was quite quickly somewhat bored with it. Of course Nina Simone isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination but it just fell a bit flat. 2/5

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jun 01 2026

For me Prince is an odd artist. I either end up being a fan of an album or just finding it extremely boring. This one definitely falls in the first category. Man this was a blast to listen to. The title track and ‘The Cross’ were the highlights for me but for a max rating from me it needed one more exclamation mark. 4/5

Jun 02 2026

Man what a blast to listen to. ‘Gimme three steps’ is one of the most positive surprises I’ve heard in this list so far. Great fun, it really places you around a big ol’ American barbecue with a ton of friends. 5/5

On The Beach by Neil Young
Jun 03 2026

I wasn't looking forward to listening to this album, since I don't really like Neil Young in general. In that regard this album was quite surprising since it wasn't as bad as expected. It just wasn't very good or memorable either. 3/5

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jun 04 2026

A really interesting blend of musical styles. A truly unique album on here, which is not easy when there are 1001 on the list. There is much to like, and really nothing to dislike here. It just misses something to really make it stand out among the many really good albums. 4/5

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Jun 05 2026

Yeah this is absolutely not an album you should have listened to before dying. It's not inherently bad, but the voice is very annoying in my opinion. It's a question of 'How British can you get?' which is very off putting. The low recording quality also makes it tough to listen to the craftmanship of the musicians. 2/5

Dookie by Green Day
Jun 08 2026

Perhaps the album I listened to in its entirety the most times of all. So of course there can only be one correct rating for it. 5/5

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Jun 09 2026

Very nice and funky record. It doesn't stand out as much to me as other similar records on this list, but it still is a blast to listen to. Only the 13 minute instrumental feels a bit too much for me, that could have been a bit shorter, the album feels draggy there. 3/5

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jun 10 2026

I really dislike Jack White's voice when singing, but the album is well put together musically. There are some interesting compositions on this album. Lyrically also the album just isn't very strong in my opinion. A mixed bag, so a mixed rating for this one. 3/5

Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits
Jun 11 2026

Well this was the least bad Tom Waits album I have listened to so far, but with the empasis on least bad. It was just barely listenable in the background. 2/5

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Jun 12 2026

I really want to like those albums that are a little more 'out there'. This one is, with both a rare language and cultural background. But I really cannot like this album. There is just a bit too much weirdness. It seems like it really wants to send a certain message, but it doesn't come across to me. 1/5

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jun 15 2026

I am a big fan of soulful music, but this one was just a bit too much of the stereotypes often used with this music for me to enjoy it any more than I did. 3/5

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jun 16 2026

I am about to see The Cure play at a festival next weekend, so that is a nice coincidence. I was largely indifferent toward them until recently. I became a bit of a fan, but nothing too crazy. Which I feel you can say about this album as well, nothing too crazy. I feel this is a rare occasion in which an album is a bit too short for my liking. There are definitely some highlights, but just not enough to warrant a higher rating. 3/5

Space Ritual by Hawkwind
Jun 17 2026

Man, this was a trip far into outer space. I guess I am more comfortable with staying on earth. This is just too trippy for me. Musically it is really very interesting, but just not very appealing. Excellent musicians, horrible songwriters. 3/5

The Rise & Fall by Madness
Jun 18 2026

Man what a disappointment. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I am very fond of Madness live, but this album was just very boring. I don't know what could have made it better but this just wasn't it. 2/5

Phrenology by The Roots
Jun 19 2026

Just not for me. A bit too ‘difficult’ of an album for my taste. 2/5

Document by R.E.M.
Jun 22 2026

Yeah I remain critical of the voice on R.E.M. records, It really isn’t my taste. But relatively speaking this is an okay record, the songs are well written, balancing the annoying vocals. 3/5

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Jun 23 2026

Unusually good britpop album. I really liked it and the hit song is always a right fit for a party. 3/5

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Jun 24 2026

If smoothness could be described in one album, it would be this album. What a gentle, joyful ride. All the way from the beginning until the end. 5/5

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jun 25 2026

Yeah this album just passed by. Not a big fan of Nick Cave's voice and style of music. This one was definitely not his worst, but far from good as well. 2/5

Ray Of Light by Madonna
Jun 26 2026

Well I am not really familiar with Madonna's music outside of her main hits, but I am surprised this album is included. When looking at the biggest songs she has had there is not really much on this one, which makes me belliever there could have been better choices for her in this list. Still not a bad album, so an average rating for this one. 3/5

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jun 29 2026

Pleasant to listen to, but just not my vibe in general. 3/5

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jun 30 2026

Gorillaz just never clicked with me. I cannot really find much to be excited about on this record. It isn't bad anywhere at all, but it isn't taking me somewhere either. 2/5

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Jul 01 2026

I really tried to look past the human being that created this album and expected it to be a pretty good listen. But it was very disappointing. Apart from a little while in the middle of the album the whole thing felt pretty disjointed. I could not really get into this album throughout. 2/5

Life Thru A Lens by Robbie Williams
Jul 02 2026

It's just so generic, like a run of the mill pop album. Which it is, so no surprises there. It's not really bad and 'Angels' is a guaranteed hit in any pub, which is a very big plus. I am giving it medium marks, which is probably more than it deserves, but Robbie's charisma in live performances I've seen drives it up a mark, which is totally unrelated to this album but he's just such a good showman. 3/5

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Jul 03 2026

Did not know what to expect at all from this album, but it can really be described in one word: 'cool'. An unexpected high rating for this one. 4/5

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Jul 06 2026

Man, what a nice record. Just all-around good vibes. 'Take me Out' is one of the all-time festival favourites for me. It just takes me out (sorry...) to a festival field, jumping around to that song when I hear it. The rest of the album is very nice as well. 5/5

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jul 07 2026

In my opinion the album that changed the music world the most. An amazing record, going from one highlight to the next. The second half may not have any hits anymore, but still has amazing songs. 5/5

All Mod Cons by The Jam
Jul 09 2026

Completely unknown album and band to me, but was pleasantly surprised. I guess you could just say it was very decent all around. Nothing too crazy happening, but just good songs put together on a nice compact album. It could almost be boring. 3/5

What's That Noise? by Coldcut
Jul 10 2026

Yeah this one just went by. It definitely is something different compared to most albums on this list. But my attention wandered to other places pretty quickly. 2/5

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jul 13 2026

What a blast! A fun blend of musical genres comes together for an album that flies by. 4/5

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jul 14 2026

There is a very good reason this album sold as well as it did. It just goes from highlight to highlight. Personal favorite: ‘Wanna Be Starting Something’. 5/5

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans
Jul 15 2026

Pleasant to listen to on a nice summer day. Of course the big hit 'Lovefool' carries the album, but there are some nice surprises on here. Like the cover of 'Iron Man' which was positively surprising to me. Just not enough to carry it to a higher rating. 3/5

Will The Circle Be Unbroken by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Jul 17 2026

I love me a bit of country/Deep South music, but this is a bit too much. 2/5

Jul 20 2026

It starts out with an all-time great quality, but just drags on a bit too much for my liking. 4/5

Jul 21 2026

This album was part of the major Britpop trend in the 90s. But with those albums the question is always: Does it follow the trend or did it set the trend itself? It feels as though this album set the trend and therefore can be considered a major influence in 90s music. There are many great songs on here and the entire album feels whole. 5/5

A Seat at the Table by Solange
Jul 22 2026

This one didn’t really do much for me. The general message throughout the album was good and necessary, but it doesn’t drive the point home enough for me. 2/5

Diamond Life by Sade
Jul 23 2026

It might be a corny remark given the name of the biggest hit, but one word to describe this album would be 'smooth'. It flows by easily and is over before you know it. 4/5

Jul 24 2026

A relatively strong country album compared to others on this list. Unfortunately it isn't really my genre and there is just too much country in this list in general in my opinion. 3/5

Is This It by The Strokes
Jul 27 2026

Good album that set a trend with all the 'The' bands in the 2000s. Overall pleasant listening experience with enough variety, just not enough exclamation marks for the full rating here. 4/5

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Jul 28 2026

I grew up in a household with a Fleetwood Mac hating parent, so I had a lot of assumptions about this album. But it blew me away completely. It is a beautiful composition of songs, themed nicely. Full of hits and great album tracks. An excellent blueprint for any music album. 5/5

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jul 29 2026

This album is just fine, nothing special. But it really doesn’t need to be on this list. I could have very well gone on without listening to this album. 2/5

Aja by Steely Dan
Jul 30 2026

Like all the other Steely Dan albums, it is absolutely joyful to listen to it. Time passes quickly when you listen to this album. It deosn't really change pace much, or genre for that matter. But all in all they are the masters of providing a pleasant ride for anyone who wants to listen to an album in its entirety. 4/5

Jul 31 2026

Forgettable is the term that first comes to mind. There are many more interesting albums from this time period, even within the genres it has on there. 2/5

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Aug 03 2026

I mean, they just don't miss, do they? All great songs on here, and the total package in itself is also marvelous. Just misses one or two more absolutely great songs imo to put it in the highest category. 4/5

1999 by Prince
Aug 04 2026

All albums by Prince are of a very high standard. Some of them exceed those lofty standards and are all time greats. In my opinion however, this is not one of them. Prince has made some better albums, though many many artists would have given up a lot to make an album like this I believe. 4/5

Aug 05 2026

The album title is a very accurate description of what is going on. It matches the vibe of the album perfectly and I love it for it. 5/5

Pink Flag by Wire
Aug 06 2026

Personally, this really felt like 'just an album' to me. There are many better Punk albums on this list, but there are also definitely worse albums. All in all, I think this one is fairly middle of the road, so the corresponding rating seems to be correct. 3/5

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Aug 07 2026

Fine album, just a bit too flat for the King here. Not enough for me to really help it stand out among the many great albums on this list. 3/5

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Aug 10 2026

Just not my favorite kind of music, and this one drags on a bit too much. 2/5
