Some good singles off the album, some of the other songs were more fillers
He's not a bad songwriter and plays guitar well but he can't sing. Every song was dirgy! The last one Joan of Arc was bearable but I'm not sure if that's because I'd made through the album!
Not as strong as their slightly later album Doolittle. But interesting as you can see their development between the 2
I've not listened to much of this music but I quite enjoyed the first CD. It was good background to work to. The 2nd CD was a but more of a struggle
Really enjoyed the album. Good songs, well crafted. The guitar in This is Love really reminded me of Captain Beefheart!
From the first iconic note to the end, practically every track is a well known favourite! I think its the first one where every song is an original Lennon/McCartney song. Really enjoyable to listen to
Some tracks were pretty good, she has got an amazing voice. It felt quite seasonal to be listening to it in December. Other tracks were a bit too avant garde for me. But I'm tempted to give it another listen - could be an album that grows on you! But for now...2 stars
Not what I usually listen to but I didn't mind it. Lyrically ok and any album that has Michael Kiwanuka on it can't be all bad!

Jazz isn't my thing but a couple of the tracks were easy listening. Hes definitely talented. Ideal music to listen to in a smoky jazz club at 3am!

A few well known tracks on this album, but quite a few I didn't know. Can understand how some of them didn't make the Best Of albums! But good all round production, and what else can you say about the vocalist and musicians!!

Typically Bowie, some good tracks, others not so. Mick Ronsons guitar is great though. The album generator missed a trick putting this up on 7th January, it should have been the 8th or the 10th.
Okay, not the best vocalist but such a good album. I'd forgotten how much Climbing Up These Walls reminded me of the Comsat Angels

I should like Coldplay more than I do. Musically they're pretty strong but vocally Chris Martin can sing at a pitch bordering on something only dogs can hear

I can see how she's trying to vary her style and experiment so I've given the album an extra star for that. She's got an amazing voice but sometimes it would be nice if she sang something softer rather than belting it out! I had to listen in 3 parts as the album was so long and a bit full on at times

Couldn't get on with this album when I first heard it around 2009/2010 but love it now.
I struggled with this. If you say in a song you're not a misogynist does it then make it okay to spend the rest of the album calling women whores, harlots, bitches, and a whole lot more? Am I missing something?
