Popular Reviews

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails

An absolutely perfect album and one of my all time favourites. Giving it only five stars feels like a disservice. Plus, it contains the only version of 'Hurt' worth listening to. A masterpiece

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra

This is the album equivalent of watching paint dry. Scientists should study this to figure out the secret of time manipulation. Apparently it's only 49 minutes long but I'm certain that I was listening to this for a week. By day 3, everything sounded the same. I was sure that I'd accidentally put one song on repeat, but no. By day 6, I'd given up all hope of ever seeing the other side. I'd accepted that my life would forever consist of listening to this album. At the end of day 7, when the sweet release of silence came, I emerged from my audio prison and blinked into the sunlight. All I wanted to do was hug my family. I had an overwhelming appreciation for how Andy Dufresne felt when he crawled out of the sewerage pipe and stood in the rain in The Shawshank Redemption. There's no denying that Frank has a great voice, he just put it to use in the most bafflingly boring and unenjoyable way possible.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel

Side 1 is definitely stronger than Side 2, but this is a fabulous album. There are some all time worldies on this It has to be 5 stars

Frank by Amy Winehouse

Worse than Back to Black. This wouldn't even make a good album if you took away the vocals. No

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

Listened to this twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I wasn't. This is average.

All Ratings (225)

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Jan 04 2026

Not bad, easy listening and a couple of good ones The Murder Mystery was the highlight. 3/5

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jan 05 2026

Full of bangers. I had no idea DS did so many songs that I know. Really enjoyed this.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Jan 06 2026

Good, solid jazz. Nothing stood out to me individually but I really enjoyed it.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Jan 07 2026

A couple of decent tracks, one great track. I thought this was mostly pretty forgettable. I wouldn't listen to the whole album again.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jan 08 2026

Really funky. I enjoyed this and there was a lot I recognised. Lots of famous stuff on here and I didn't realise the pipe smoking legend 'Duck' was in the band. Good stuff

Jan 09 2026

An excellent album. Really, really enjoyed it. If I was being ultra critical, the only think that mildly grinds is the constant YEEEEAHH BOIIIII from Flava Flav. It still doesn't stop it being a five star album though. Brilliant

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Jan 10 2026

It's fine, background music. Nothing to get excited by, but nothing to dislike either. Just...ok

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Jan 11 2026

The highs are absolutely stratospheric, which is why this is getting a 4 I enjoyed it a lot, but I think there are a few tracks that are just 'good' which stops it being an all timer

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Jan 12 2026

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I enjoyed the piano playing in particular. Wouldn't rush to listen to again, but a decent album

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jan 13 2026

I forgot what a good trip hop album this is. The punkier ones aren't quite as good but inject the trip hop and dub into my veins

S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things
Jan 15 2026

Meh. Not my thing. Tapped my foot once or twice. Wouldn't listen again

Smash by The Offspring
Jan 16 2026

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The music is great and there was a couple of stand out tracks for me (Self Esteem, It'll be a Long Time) I've never been a big fan of the vocals but yeah, this was pretty good.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 17 2026

This would be a brilliant instrumental album but for me, it's ruined by the vocals. I do not enjoy AW's singing voice and found myself trying to block it out.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Jan 18 2026

I enjoyed this, but not as much as I thought I would. Not really sure what else to say about it really. Pretty good

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Jan 19 2026

Worse than Back to Black. This wouldn't even make a good album if you took away the vocals. No

Jan 20 2026

This is good, really enjoyed listening to it. I've never really listened to Pink Floyd before outside of the really famous songs. I would definitely listen to this again and give their others a go

The Sun Rises In The East by Jeru The Damaja
Jan 21 2026

This album is great. I'd never heard of Jeru before but there are some cracking tracks on this. I was convinced that that was going to be a 5 star album after the first few but I don't think the later tracks were quite as good as the first ones. I'll definitely listen to this again and I might like it more and more. It's a peach.

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Jan 22 2026

A bit nothingy for me. Ok background music but nothing to get excited about

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 23 2026

Pretty good this. I tapped my foot a lot. Didn't get too excited but I quite liked it

Is This It by The Strokes
Jan 24 2026

I was sure this was going to be a one star album because I really didn't like it at first, particularly not the vocals There were a couple of tracks later on that are a bit better. Not my bag, but not a total disaster

Car Wheels On A Gravel Road by Lucinda Williams
Jan 25 2026

I enjoyed this. Nice, enjoyable easy listening. I'd never heard of her before and this was a nice surprise

Jan 26 2026

You can't deny, U2 have written some good songs. There are a couple of stinkers on here too but overall it's ok

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jan 27 2026

This is a very, very good album. I liked it when it was released and it's still a cracking listen

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jan 28 2026

This was a very, very good album. I'd never heard of them before and thought this was great. The lyrics could have been written for now and would still be relevant. Very close to a 5 star album but I can't see myself going back to it much. A really nice surprise though, great stuff

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Jan 29 2026

This feels harsh, because I like Randy Newman, but I didn't really enjoy this. I like listening to a Randy Newman song, but a full album is too much

The Specials by The Specials
Jan 31 2026

Sets the bar for how bad an album in this book can be. I didn't enjoy any of it, at all.

Done By The Forces Of Nature by Jungle Brothers
Feb 01 2026

This is a good, solid album. It got better towards the end but not a huge amount stood out to me. Very decent, won't be on rotation

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Feb 02 2026

This is the album equivalent of watching paint dry. Scientists should study this to figure out the secret of time manipulation. Apparently it's only 49 minutes long but I'm certain that I was listening to this for a week. By day 3, everything sounded the same. I was sure that I'd accidentally put one song on repeat, but no. By day 6, I'd given up all hope of ever seeing the other side. I'd accepted that my life would forever consist of listening to this album. There's no denying that Frank has a great voice, he just put it to use in the most bafflingly boring and unenjoyable way possible.

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Feb 03 2026

This is better than I thought it would be, especially because I really don't like 'Alright' The faster, punkier songs are pretty good

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Feb 04 2026

How's that for a slice of fried gold. Dream Pop perfection

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Feb 05 2026

Some of these are ok, some of them are not. Not a bad album to have on in the car though

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Feb 08 2026

What a sexy album. I should have dimmed the lights and lit some candles to listen to this

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Feb 09 2026

An absolute worldie Being recommended to listen to things like this is why I started the Album Generator. Belting. An easy five stars

Feb 10 2026

Found it difficult to separate the art from the artist when listening to this, but I tried my best. There are two very, very good tracks (Power, All the Lights), but almost everything else is absolute shite

Feb 11 2026

This was ok. Passed me by a bit and won't be on regular rotation, but I kind of enjoyed it

Lost Souls by Doves
Feb 12 2026

This was alright. The dream / space rock and pop were the highlights. Definitely better than the straight up indie songs. Not bad lads

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Feb 13 2026

Not bad that. I really enjoyed the beginning but got a bit bored. I liked almost every individual track but a whole album was a bit much

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Feb 14 2026

Not what I'd normally listen to, but there are some proper bangers on this It would be criminal to rate it less than a 3

Honky Tonk Heroes by Waylon Jennings
Feb 15 2026

I can tell that this isn't terrible, but just isn't my thing at all

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Feb 16 2026

A real surprise and a very good album. I'd heard of the band but never listened to them before. This is a belter

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Feb 17 2026

I really didn't appreciate how good the White Stripes were when they first came around. This is superb

If You're Feeling Sinister by Belle & Sebastian
Feb 18 2026

Loved the music from the start but couldn't get on with the vocals. As it went on, I got used to the singing and started to really like this. I'll definitely be listening to this again and diving into their back catalog. Cracking stuff

Arular by M.I.A.
Feb 19 2026

Not my jam There are bits that are legit, but they come in small bursts.

Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
Feb 20 2026

An easy 5 stars Lightning Bolt are masters of noise rock and I listened to this 3 times in a row Now I just need to see them live again to see the madness go up to 11

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Feb 21 2026

Great fun and full of bangers. You go Cyndi Lauper

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Feb 22 2026

Listened to what I could because Spotify didn't have the whole album. I thought it was a bit shit, but in a weirdly enjoyable way. Bang down the middle. Can't give 2.5 stars, so they can have 3

At Budokan by Cheap Trick
Feb 23 2026

The sound of the crowd is unbelievably shrill, but when you get over that it's ok

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Feb 24 2026

What an absolute peach of an album. I never felt like it outstayed it's welcome and it's packed full of belting songs, including a few stone cold classics. This has to be five stars

High Violet by The National
Feb 25 2026

I wasn't sure at first but got better and better. The 2nd listen was belting. The National are definitely one to listen to more. Cracking stuff

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Feb 26 2026

I really expected to like this but my head dropped at the end of the opening track, that wasn't good. It got a bit better but overall, I didn't think it was very good. American Girl was the best track by a long way

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Feb 27 2026

Spotify didn't have all tracks, but I heard enough. Not the sound for me

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Feb 28 2026

This is fine. Foo Fighters have some absolute bangers, but most of it is just fine

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Mar 01 2026

Wow I hadn't heard of her before so this completely took me surprise and it was incredible. Catchy, varied, full of heart and soul, absolutely superb. Loved it

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Mar 02 2026

Meh I thought this was a bit boring but wasn't offensive. The song with Santana was rubbish. Could be a 2 or 3 depending on what mood I'm in.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Mar 03 2026

This was ok. Some of the songs were 3s, a few were 2s but I'm feeling generous so I've rounded up for the whole album

Let It Be by The Replacements
Mar 04 2026

There were tracks on this that were really quite good, it started off as a nice surprise. But then there were some absolute dumpster fires on here too which completely ruined it

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Mar 05 2026

This ranged from ok and inoffensive to mind numbingly boring 2

Unhalfbricking by Fairport Convention
Mar 06 2026

Couldn't wait for this to end. Not because it's offensively unlistenable, but I was bored senseless. I won't be revisiting this

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Mar 07 2026

Not my thing, but listenable enough. Neil Young won't be on regular rotation for me, but I also wouldn't jump out the window if he comes on the wireless

Mar 08 2026

I really thought I'd enjoy this, but just didn't find it interesting at all

Mar 09 2026

This is ok. Something I'd quite happily put on in the background Nothing stood out as fantastic, but I enjoyed it enough. Dead Bodies was the highlight

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Mar 11 2026

What a nice album this is. Another one that I'd never heard of but will definitely revisit. Well played Sufjan

Odelay by Beck
Mar 12 2026

A very, very good album. It upsets me that it's 30 years old because I remember buying it I need to listen to more Beck

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Mar 13 2026

How much Bob Dylan is too much Bob Dylan? This much Most of the songs are ok, but I was desperate for it to end. The last song was the lowlight

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Mar 14 2026

I really expected to enjoy this. The vocals aren't for me and overall there was nothing that interested me.

Konnichiwa by Skepta
Mar 15 2026

It was good this One track really lets it down in the middle (Ladies Hit Squad) but I enjoyed the rest and there were some belters on there

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Mar 17 2026

Overall, pretty rubbish. A couple of them were listenable enough. Will not listen again

Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Mar 18 2026

I had low hopes going into this (the 60s has been my lowest rated decade on this), but it was ace. Varied, funky and just loads of fun. Sign me up

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Mar 19 2026

There's some ok stuff on here, but it's punishingly long and I got bored. I completely tuned out at points. As an album, it's fine. 2 would be harsh but 3 seems generous

You Are The Quarry by Morrissey
Mar 20 2026

Ok, wow. When I saw this come up I thought I was going to have to find a way to allow the system to let me give it 0 stars. I've never enjoyed a Morrissey song and never liked his voice. Against all the odds, I really quite enjoyed this. It won't be on regular rotation, but it was a surprise, so fair play.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Mar 21 2026

A lovely, relaxing album. Really enjoyed this

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Mar 22 2026

This album makes me wish you could give half marks. Some good, some bad. A 2 seems harsh but a 3 seems generous. I'm going for 2, purely for how shite 'I Had a Dream, Joe' is

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Mar 23 2026

A very, very good album. I enjoyed this a lot. I'd heard the name but couldn't remember listening to her before. Brilliantly varied and thoroughly entertaining

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Mar 24 2026

This was like being stuck in a lift or waiting on hold for 40 minutes Would have been better without the vocals

xx by The xx
Mar 25 2026

Intro was the highlight, but the rest was ok. I'm not 100% sold on the vocals, but this would be decent background music

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Mar 26 2026

Listened to this twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I wasn't. This is average.

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service
Mar 27 2026

Had this on twice and my brain largely ignored it twice. Not one to revisit. The instrumental tracks were better than the ones with vocals. The album artwork is a thing of absolute beauty though

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Mar 28 2026

It's...ok. Completely middle of the road I just don't get the Black Sabbath obsession. Sure, I can understand how ground breaking they must have been at the time, but it doesn't click with me. And I know this is heresy, but Ozzy's vocals just aren't that great

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
Mar 29 2026

I really enjoyed this. My cup of tea. I'll definitely listen to this again and dive into the back catalogue.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Mar 30 2026

I've found this quite difficult to rate. I'm a big Slipknot fan and compared to their best albums (ST and Iowa), this isn't great. It's their 6th best album out of 7. I do enjoy this album, even though there are a couple of stinkers on it - I'm looking at you Dead Memories. The absolute bangers are going to push this rating up, Butchers Hook and the title track stand toe to toe with some of the best they've done. This is better than a 3 when put in the context of other albums on this list, but a 4 does feel a bit generous. It's what I'm going for though.

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Mar 31 2026

Very good this. Had it on three times in a row and will definitely listen again

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Apr 01 2026

It's Kate Bush, and she's ace Not listened to this before but I'd be amazed if she's ever released anything that would score less than a 4

Rain Dogs by Tom Waits
Apr 02 2026

Weird, but not weird enough to be good

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Apr 03 2026

From reading the reviews and description, I was convinced I was going to like this. On first listen, I didn't. The second listen was much better, but I'm not sure it'll become a favourite. It's ok

Ten by Pearl Jam
Apr 04 2026

Banging This popped my Pearl Jam album listening cherry and I thought it was ace I'll definitely be diving into the rest of their albums

Risque by CHIC
Apr 05 2026

Not bad Starts great with Good Times and then fizzles to something listenable, but a bit forgettable

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 06 2026

This is excellent and full of absolutely classic tracks. I went into it being pretty determined to not give it a 5 because it felt like following the crowd, but I can't deny that it's what it deserves

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Apr 07 2026

Absolutely, completely, unbelievably, shockingly, outrageously, mind-bendingly, crazily average

American Gothic by David Ackles
Apr 08 2026

I breathed a sigh of relief when this was over. An easy one star, never to be revisited

Sound Affects by The Jam
Apr 10 2026

Started out as hot garbage, but then got a lot better Listenable enough

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Apr 11 2026

Side 1 is definitely stronger than Side 2, but this is a fabulous album. There are some all time worldies on this It has to be 5 stars

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Apr 12 2026

Started bad, got worse. The last song was the best of a bad bunch, but by that point I'd checked out I'd actively avoid this album

OK Computer by Radiohead
Apr 13 2026

A masterpiece It makes me want to go back in time and slap teenage me for thinking that Radiohead were the wrong genre for me to listen to

War by U2
Apr 14 2026

Sunday Bloody Sunday is pretty good, and then it goes quickly downhill from there. I really hope The Refugee is the low point. A dreadful song. Turns out it was the low point. All in all, a pretty naff album really

Apr 15 2026

Some of these aren't bad at all, good fun and had me tapping my foot. There are a couple of times in the album where it got a bit dull but overall, this is ok

Goo by Sonic Youth
Apr 16 2026

I didn't find this interesting in the slightest but on the whole I wasn't deeply offended by it The main thing that got my attention was how shite the Goo song was. Oof

Apr 17 2026

I could have sworn that I liked Talking Heads before I put this on I listened twice and can't remember any of it. Nothing stuck out at all

Van Halen by Van Halen
Apr 18 2026

It was good this Ain't talkin bout love is the highlight, and it's an absolute peach. The downside was the cover of You Really Got Me, but overall it's a goodun

Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Apr 19 2026

I liked this Took me a while to get used to the vocals, but the music got me from the off Good stuff

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Apr 21 2026

I don't think I'm ever going to be a fan of The Smiths, particularly because I struggle with the vocals But the music is pretty good, and the bass is excellent

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Apr 22 2026

This is fine. It's just Motorhead isn't it. Well, everything is fine apart from Jailbait. Oof, that wasn't an easy listen

Boston by Boston
Apr 23 2026

Well, this massively exceeded expectations. I thought this would be another example of an album dropping off after starting with the big hit, but it's packed full of bangers. I do think side one is better than side 2, but on the whole, this is a cracker

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Apr 24 2026

Individual songs are 2s and 3s The album as a whole gets a 2. It was fine, but I was relieved when it ended

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Apr 25 2026

It's a difficult one to rate, this A truly amazing voice (5⭐), some ok songs (3⭐) but some shite songs (1⭐) Overall, it's just punishingly long (1⭐), but you can't deny that incredible voice (5⭐) Good for having on in the background, but not an album to actively listen to, certainly not in one sitting

Nixon by Lambchop
Apr 26 2026

It amazes me that in the vast ocean of music we have available to us, this album in particular has stood out enough to people to be included on this list. I listened to this while out with the dog and I think it was alright, but can't completely remember. It just kind of passed me by in a weirdly enjoyable and totally forgettable way.

Teenage Head by Flamin' Groovies
Apr 27 2026

Not a sound that I'm ever going to get excited about Can't really say anything more than that. I'll forget that this even exists in a couple of days

Blackstar by David Bowie
Apr 28 2026

A massive surprise. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this much, but it started brilliantly and then just got better. This is a corker

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Apr 29 2026

This was ok, I quite enjoyed listening to it. I definitely won't remember anything about it though. No songs, not the band name, nothing. But it was ok. That's the main thing.

The Clash by The Clash
Apr 30 2026

Turns out I don't like the clash as much as I thought I did But this is ok

Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
May 01 2026

I really like this. It's an ideal amount of weird and an absolute treat

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
May 02 2026

Not really my jam, but listenable enough

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
May 03 2026

This made my teeth itch and was genuinely difficult to get through. Appalling

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
May 04 2026

This was ok, but got worse towards the end. The last two tracks were a bit of a dumpster fire

Murmur by R.E.M.
May 05 2026

Unexciting, inoffensive and absolutely fine

London Calling by The Clash
May 06 2026

I bought this years ago and was sure it was going to be a five star album. It's not, but there are some good tracks on here It's better than the self titled, so it gets a 4

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
May 07 2026

An album that I forgot how much I loved. Absolutely brilliant

May 08 2026

Not really interested in this The last two minutes were the best bit of the whole album

All Directions by The Temptations
May 09 2026

The sort of dish that I gobble up and then ask for seconds This is ace

Traffic by Traffic
May 10 2026

My heart sank when this started, the opening track is a stinker It quickly got better though. It's not bad this

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
May 11 2026

I'm just not that interested in the Sonic Youth sound And I definitely didn't need over an hour of it

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
May 12 2026

Not my usual cup of tea, and nothing on here changed my mind Not bad though

Repeater by Fugazi
May 13 2026

A name that I've heard many times but not listened to before I wish I had, this is class

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
May 14 2026

I'm pretty sure I've just listened to the same song on repeat for 70 minutes, but it's not a bad one Decent enough background music

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
May 15 2026

I loved this as a 16 year old and played it to death Listening to it in my 40s, it's not all aged well and made me dry my teeth a few times. You sure can't deny Eminem's ridiculous amount of talent. This bought back good memories

Station To Station by David Bowie
May 16 2026

Not massively interested in this and I won't be revisiting, but overall it's not too bad

May 17 2026

Meh There was too much faffing about on this for a 30 minute album The small upbeat sections of music would raise my hopes, only to be dashed as being an intro to another slow song I was disappointed by this

1977 by Ash
May 18 2026

I didn't realise how well I knew this album but I must have listened to it a massive amount back in the day Bough back memories of being a teenager and it's full of bangers. This is a peach

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
May 19 2026

Yeah, this is good I'm never going to be the biggest Zeppelin fan and can't get over excited about it, but you've got to recognise game

Picture Book by Simply Red
May 20 2026

I didn't expect to enjoy this and overall, I didn't It started off ok but the longer it went on, the more I remembered why I've been convinced that I don't like Simply Red for the last 40 years It's not a complete train wreck, but it's not for me

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
May 21 2026

A brilliant album, full of brilliant songs sung by a legend with a brilliant voice What's not to love? An easy 5 stars

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
May 22 2026

It was good this. Blusey and funky

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
May 23 2026

The Prodigy's third best album, but still an absolute masterpiece that deserves at least 5 stars Part of the soundtrack of my teenage years. It really is a perfect album.

May 24 2026

Apart from the title track, nothing really interested me too much on this. Pretty average

May 25 2026

A difficult one to rate I've listened to this hundreds of times over the years but couldn't tell you a single song title or really remember what any of the tracks sound like This is however, brilliant background music that I thoroughly enjoy and will continue to do so. Here's to listening to this another few hundred times in the future and not remembering any of it

25 by Adele
May 26 2026

I think this is the first album I've listened to on this list that made me agitated The different writers and producers on every track make it a jumbled, irritating mess Some of the individual production is ok and it can't be denied that Adele has a good voice when she's not wailing like a banshee, but the whole is so much less than the sum of its parts. I'll be actively avoiding this album in the future and it's mind bendingly irritating lyrics and themes

Protection by Massive Attack
May 27 2026

This really doesn't need the 'Light my Fire' cover at the end. Heat Miser would have have an ideal closer. Either way, it's an absolute peach that sits in Massive Attack's opening trilogy of god tier albums. Love it

Bad by Michael Jackson
May 28 2026

He might have been a shapeshifting wrongun, but you can't deny that he wrote and performed some absolute worldies

C'est Chic by CHIC
May 30 2026

This was very cool and had me bobbing along throughout the whole thing Thoroughly ace

#1 Record by Big Star
May 31 2026

This didn't click with me and never really got me interested at any point

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jun 01 2026

Some amazing musicianship and a good album overall There were points that it faded into the background, but it was good

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 02 2026

Love the toned down nature of this record It's a belter

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Jun 03 2026

Not interested in this at all. Too good to be a 1, but I'll not be revisiting...ever

Snivilisation by Orbital
Jun 05 2026

An absolute belter that's as good today as it was when it was released Timeless electronic brilliance

Sheet Music by 10cc
Jun 07 2026

My brain ended up tuning this out. Nothing grabbed my attention at all

Jun 08 2026

Man, this was weird It had bits that I quite liked, but then it would switch and be absolutely horrific. There was no telling when the pain would come, but it was always round the corner It's a bit like being fed gummy bears but then randomly getting punched in the face while getting through the bag. An overall terrible experience.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 09 2026

A classic, and a beaut Made me wish I had a convertible lowrider so I could cruise around town blasting this... ...but I'm a middle aged nerd from the midlands, so I'll just enjoy it while updating my spreadsheets

A Seat at the Table by Solange
Jun 10 2026

I won't remember any of this, but I quite enjoyed the listen

Pornography by The Cure
Jun 11 2026

Yeah, this is fine

Jun 12 2026

The Prodigy's best and one of the greatest albums of all time A game changer for me when it was released and (along with Experience) part of my musical awakening. Back then was when I first realised how incredible music could be

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jun 13 2026

Nah, I don't vibe with this sound at all This was a bit of a struggle

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Jun 14 2026

Perfectly fine music to have on in the background, but nothing got me too excited

Rio by Duran Duran
Jun 15 2026

I was certain this was going to be a 5 when I started it as I used to listen to it so much when I was younger It's not as good as I remember, but the singles still slap as hard as they always have The rest is fine too

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jun 16 2026

Meh This is fine, but that's about it

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Jun 17 2026

Weird, wonderful and wacky brilliance Keeps you guessing in a good way, you never know what's going to come next Top drawer

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Jun 18 2026

Man o man, this is dull as balls and far too long It didn't pain me to get through, so I don't think I can give it a 1, but I was glad when it finished

Dr. Octagonecologyst by Dr. Octagon
Jun 19 2026

It's good this. I'm all in for scritchy scratches and wicky wacks

Jun 20 2026

I'm not normally a big fan of live albums, but this is class Being at that show must have been brilliant

Jun 21 2026

I liked this The final track is superb. Even if the rest of the album was cack (which it's not), it would still be worth 4 stars

Tapestry by Carole King
Jun 22 2026

A very, very good album that I thoroughly enjoyed and will listen to again. Credit also goes to the cat on the cover photo

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jun 24 2026

If it wasn't 6am, I'd pour myself a rum and coke and listen to this in the garden Cracking stuff

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Jun 25 2026

Not bad Wasn't a fan of the vocals at first, but it got better as it went on

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Jun 26 2026

60s music for the 2000s crowd Not interested

The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
Jun 27 2026

An absolutely perfect album and one of my all time favourites. Giving it only five stars feels like a disservice. Plus, it contains the only version of 'Hurt' worth listening to. A masterpiece

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Jun 28 2026

60s folk rock with lots of added tambourine Every song sounds the same, and that sound is cack I started getting agitated 3 songs in because of that damn tambourine As individual songs, they're a 2. As a collective, it's a 1

The Score by Fugees
Jun 30 2026

I I bought this on release as a teenager and absolutely loved it, but it's been a good 20 years since I last listened to the whole thing. When this popped up today I thought there was no way that I would still like it as much as I used to. Turns out I do, it's an absolute classic. It's as fantastic now as it was back then.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jul 01 2026

I haven't listened to this in 25+ years and was surprised how well I remembered it A very, very good album. Stay away is Nirvana's best song. Fight me

Live At Leeds by The Who
Jul 03 2026

This is alright, and The Who are good But I'm rarely interested in live albums

Play by Moby
Jul 04 2026

I bought this on release and absolutely loved it back in the day It's still a very, very good album and has some absolute bangers on it The looped samples of old singers can take the shine off at some points, but this is a very solid 4

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Jul 06 2026

A up, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I saw that it was 60s rock and had my finger hovering over the 1 or 2 buttons Not bad

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 07 2026

Fine Not a patch on Exodus

Let England Shake by PJ Harvey
Jul 08 2026

This is ok Stories... is the superior album, but I didn't mind this

Jul 09 2026

An absolutely superb, masterpiece of an album. And it's not even their best one (take a bow Wu Tang Forever) 5 stars, no hesitation

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Jul 10 2026

A short, fun, toe tapper Pretty good this

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Jul 11 2026

A class album Not quite as good as 'It Takes....' but it's definitely a high 4

Pictures At An Exhibition by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Jul 12 2026

I enjoyed this. I don't really see the point of live albums but apart from a couple of times, the crowd noise wasn't too grating and the band sounded ace

American Idiot by Green Day
Jul 13 2026

For some reason I always convince myself that I'm not a Green Day fan, but it turns out I'm wrong I'm not the biggest fan of the title track, but the album on the whole is ace. I thoroughly enjoyed it

The White Album by Beatles
Jul 14 2026

I honestly can't believe that this is considered one of the best albums of all time. Surely no one is listening to Bungalow Bill or Piggies and thinking what a classic it is? Sure, there are some decent songs buried in here, but you have to search for the gold nuggets in a river of shit. I don't think it's a 1 because of the occasional goodun, but what a slog. A 2 feels generous. Bloody hell

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Jul 15 2026

I liked this a lot It could have gone on for a lot longer and I still would have been happy

Jul 16 2026

This would make a very good instrumental album But it's not one, so it's a 3. Pretty average

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Jul 17 2026

This started off at a 2, but then when 'Next' came on it really got grating. I had to grit my teeth through the rest of it. This is absolute shite

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jul 18 2026

Not the most exciting album in the world, but I liked it Would definitely listen again

Gris Gris by Dr. John
Jul 19 2026

Not really for me, but also not completely offensive

Jul 20 2026

Another Byrds album, and yet more absolute tripe This has followed the same process as the Tambourine one. Each of the songs are pretty bad, but as a whole album it's awful I really hope there aren't any more of their albums on this list

Marquee Moon by Television
Jul 21 2026

Absolute junk The lead singer's voice stripped the enamel off my teeth

Stardust by Willie Nelson

Different Class by Pulp
Jul 28 2026

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jul 29 2026

Good, but falls short of being great

Kid A by Radiohead
Jul 30 2026

Teenage me was an idiot back then when it came to some bands. Radiohead was one of them as I didn't give them a chance and was convinced I hated them. This is brilliant, Radiohead are brilliant and I'm glad I've finally woken up to that fact

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Jul 31 2026

I've tried over the years, but I just can't get into RATM I nodded my head throughout this, but nothing on here gets me pumped

Harvest by Neil Young
Aug 01 2026

I think I've come to terms with the fact that Neil Young is a bit shit Heart of Gold is pretty good, but that's as far as my appreciation for this album goes

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Aug 02 2026

Very good, I enjoyed this Three cheers for Jorge Ben

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Aug 03 2026

Just a bloke chilling with his guitar I liked this

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Aug 04 2026

Over the top, theatrical nonsense. Using nearly a quarter of the run time for the first song is a baller move. Cracking stuff

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Aug 05 2026

I like the music on this. Not crazy about there vocals, but they're not bad enough to ruin it

Aug 09 2026

I didn't enjoy this, but what made it worse was the fact it just went on and on and on Would definitely avoid in the future. I was desperate for it to end

The Band by The Band
Aug 10 2026

Not really interested, but I did like the piano on Jawbone

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Aug 11 2026

This was very good. Perfect music for a wander in the summer sun

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Aug 12 2026

Banger, after banger, after banger

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Aug 14 2026

This is fine And that's all I'm going to say about that

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Aug 15 2026

Mercifully short, but that's as far as the praise goes A grating sound, awful lyrics and an overall abomination
