Popular Reviews

Urban Hymns by The Verve

That one song was good tho

Sail Away by Randy Newman

I might have enjoyed this album more if I was not snowboarding. It was too slow for snowboarding

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar

I am not much of a lyrical man but this album gives the feeling of the struggle of inner city cycles via alternatives to lyrics such as gun shots ending songs soon. I will have to give damn another listen it it won the pullitzer over this album.

Had some fun alternative riffs with like a spring sound but I can remember one song so not my favorite

I liked the first song a lot so I was hyped but it was the only one on there with that groovy little guitar note hook.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jan 04 2024

Honestly not my favorite. Has some classics but overall feels messy and a little more grungy than i would want

Jan 05 2024

Smooth, thoughtful indie rock.

Low by David Bowie
Jan 06 2024

Techno sad boy

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Jan 07 2024

Forgettable. Sad ass lyrics tho

Jan 09 2024

Same old radio head, not much my jam. Also did this song have songs off of kid a? That or they sound the same

Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
Jan 10 2024

80s vibe. Seemed more lyrical and I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jan 11 2024

Indie rock vibes, but like didn't stand out to my ear.

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Jan 12 2024

easy to tell this one is from the 80s. I thought it was kinda experimental in its rhythms and instruments.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Jan 13 2024

10 minutes of killer guitar to open. Funky and emotional. Power to the pussy

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Jan 17 2024

Pretty solid 90s hip hop. Not my favorite genre though so middling review.

Mott by Mott The Hoople
Jan 18 2024

70s rock. Kinda had the vibes of the rocky horror picture show to me. Definitely atleast one shredding guitar part.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 19 2024

Made me feel like I was in the bayou. Also I think the ccr singer was born with a voice for 70s rock, it's so iconic.

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Jan 22 2024

Seemed like some good straightforward punk rock. I would probably like this more some other day. Yesterday was not a punk rock mood.

Tapestry by Carole King
Jan 23 2024

Groovy classics

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Jan 24 2024

did he stay together with this girl? IDK i dont listen very intently, but at a surface level he definitely was spitting some game

Liquid Swords by GZA
Jan 26 2024

Classic 90s hip hop/rap. I liked the amount of samples and skits, did not feel it was overpowering.

Jan 28 2024

Early hip hop and dance combo. I liked a few songs but not all. I did like a few of the skits, like the radio call in leading into the next song

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Jan 30 2024

Had like one banger. Generally too slow for my liking

Penance Soiree by The Icarus Line
Jan 31 2024

Surprisingly small band to make this list. Seemed like some classic rock/metal with maybe some emo influences in tone and lyrics? Overall a fan!

Fromohio by fIREHOSE
Feb 01 2024

I liked the funky little guitar lines but otherwise not memorable

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Feb 02 2024

forgettable 60s

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Feb 03 2024

R&b and country and rock all rolled up into some tight, groovy ass songs.

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Feb 04 2024

I might have enjoyed this album more if I was not snowboarding. It was too slow for snowboarding

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Feb 06 2024

Voice like the 80s. Which also means it blended in with all other 80s music for me.

Debut by Björk
Feb 07 2024

Ethereal pop. I listened a full time through and it didn't catch my attention much.

Feb 08 2024

One song is 20 minutes long. Prog rock meets 80s was a chefs kiss.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Feb 09 2024

Punk meets alt rock. It was pretty good but I think I still prefer punk and alt rock

La Revancha Del Tango by Gotan Project
Feb 16 2024

Great work music! I don't think it had any vocals, more of a latin EDM style I would say.

Green by R.E.M.
Feb 17 2024
Third by Portishead
Feb 22 2024

Fun ethereal trap pop. I think they have some catchy drum and bass lines and I like the vocals, they remind me of being in a 1920s speakeasy. I ended up listening to dummy a bit more instead of third. That one will get 5 stats.

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Feb 25 2024

80s girly pop. Straight up my alley, I was singing along.

1989 by Taylor Swift
Feb 27 2024

Pivotal 2010s pop album. I think it might experience the Seinfeld effect where it was so important as to become the norm, and now does not sound distinct.

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Feb 28 2024

The sound of this album is what I will associate with the genre speed medal. I would qualify it as a defining album of that genre.

New Wave by The Auteurs
Mar 04 2024

Interesting alt rock is how I would describe this. Kinda reminds me of radiohead a bit.

Parklife by Blur
Mar 05 2024

Indie pop rock. I have never heard of this band but this album was a jam! After listening, I wonder if one of my other favorite bands (tally hall) drew some inspiration!

Kenza by Khaled
Mar 06 2024

Im very glad this album was recommended, I would've never known about ria otherwise. I have no idea what they're saying but the instruments sound great!

Mar 07 2024

Tom waits has a beautiful voice but I didn't much enjoy the stand up aspects of this album. There was a lot of crowdwork

Mar 09 2024

Has some very good songs and iconic eminem rap parts, but I don't think many of the skits or some songs aged well. In general I'm not a huge fan of skits in albums anyways.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Mar 12 2024

Glad I discovered this album, it feels representative of disco! I wonder if there will be more disco albums chosen or if none compare?

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Mar 13 2024

Pleasantly surprised that while this is generic 70s/80s rock, it also slaps.

Mar 14 2024

Had some fun alternative riffs with like a spring sound but I can remember one song so not my favorite

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents
Mar 15 2024

1970s album that definitely felt ahead if their time. This is the first album I did not finish because i didn't enjoy the first 14 songs.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Mar 16 2024

Gorillas pushes all types of genre lines while making fantastic music. More popular virtual act that hatsune miku tho?

Club Classics Vol. One by Soul II Soul
Mar 18 2024

I liked one or two songs but otherwise don't remember others. I think this album could grow on me more.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Mar 20 2024
Urban Hymns by The Verve
Mar 22 2024

That one song was good tho

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Mar 23 2024

Obviously war pigs smacks. But I also liked one kf the later songs ln the album, which was an open sound space almost jazz like drum focused song. Cool to see the depth of the band!

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Mar 27 2024

Solid rock but I don't think it stands out from other rock that much

D by White Denim
Mar 28 2024
Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Apr 02 2024

This album fused funk like elements into the famed herbie Hancock jazz. I liked the inclusion of what I think are synthesizers? Thus guy has a long career of pushing the genre and I would like to listen to more.

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Apr 03 2024

I like steely Dan a lot but this isn't my favorite album by them. I listened to this for a while then swapped over to aja

The Renaissance by Q-Tip
Apr 04 2024

90s hip hop with a little bit of soul. I should listen to the lyrics more

Songs Of Love And Hate by Leonard Cohen
Apr 05 2024

Only not 1 star because one song his voice was fukn raw. Folksy poetry type lyrics, but I struggle to listen to lyrics so I didn't like it much

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Apr 09 2024

Has Mr brightside but also the entire album is very good. I like the sound of the vocals, it brings a cohesive feeling theme to the album.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Apr 10 2024

Non offensive folk poppy stuff, but not memorable

En-Tact by The Shamen
Apr 11 2024
Funeral by Arcade Fire
Apr 16 2024

I liked the instrumentals of this album, did it have an orchestra? I should revisit this one with more attention

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Apr 19 2024

A bit too eclectic for my tastes

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Apr 20 2024

I just don't listen to lyrics enough to enjoy Elliot Smith

Kala by M.I.A.
Apr 25 2024

Club dance poppy. I also love her voice. I should give this one another listen, might become a 5?

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Apr 30 2024

I feel that this album represents rock transitioning from blues and folk. I didn't enjoy it much but it could be worth another listen

Goodbye And Hello by Tim Buckley
May 03 2024

Maybe a 3.5. I enjoyed it but I don't think it stands out from rock of the same era

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
May 04 2024

Metals best known flutist

evermore by Taylor Swift
May 09 2024

I like the folks vibe

m b v by My Bloody Valentine
May 10 2024

Wasn't a fan personally. Too much distortion

May 15 2024

Kinda folky and also swing. I liked it. Made me listen to some Johnny cash

May 16 2024

I think this was one song, or atleast I couldn't find this album on spotify

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
May 21 2024

I like the emotion in her voice. Some songs are good but some are forgettable enough.

Post Orgasmic Chill by Skunk Anansie
May 23 2024

I liked the more metal focused songs. Overall I was a fan but this leaned more on the side of just an ok album for me.

Sex Packets by Digital Underground
May 29 2024

I enjoyed it but also I don't feel that it stood out from 90s sound much. I ended up listening to Tupac after this because I think it's the same vibe but I enjoy it more.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
May 30 2024

Heads will roll is a classic but I listened to this album a few times through and can't remember a single other song.

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
May 31 2024

I think I don't like post emo and goth music much. This is like third album like this and I'm sure it's genre defining but I didn't like the sound much.

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Jun 01 2024

Has some fantastic singles but also more range than you immediately think of by linkin park

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Jun 04 2024

I like the blues a lot, I'm a sucker for harmonica. I listened to more muddy waters after this and liked some other albums more (getting hard or something)

Youth And Young Manhood by Kings of Leon
Jun 06 2024

I listened a little and didn't much like the vocalist but the other parts were good.

Water From An Ancient Well by Abdullah Ibrahim
Jun 07 2024

I think this was mostly instrumental and was nice but didn't stand out to me much. Kinda felt like elevator music

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Jun 08 2024

Could be a 3.5. Easy going and nice to listen to but not something i would seek out.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Jun 11 2024

Very melancholy. If I were a lyric man I would probably like this more but it was too slow and folky for my taste

Skylarking by XTC
Jun 12 2024

British pop. Kinda ethereal and light, reminds me of tally hall which I like

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Jun 13 2024

I liked the guitar lines, got my head rocking a few times. I could see this rating being higher if I listened more

Jun 14 2024

This queen album had more focus on guitar which was cool.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Jun 18 2024

Allegedly fully improvised piano concert. The skill for that is incredible. There is one reoccurring section of notes (motif?) That feels so familiar I could swear I've heard it before. Doing that while improvising is incredible.

Odelay by Beck
Jun 19 2024

Did not catch my attention but also was not hard to listen to

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jun 26 2024

Seven nation army saved this album in my eyes. The rest was pretty forgettable.

Django Django by Django Django
Jun 27 2024

I liked the synth. Fun alt rock type vibes

Jun 28 2024

I want to rate it higher. And I took another day to listen. But it just didn't catch me.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Jul 03 2024

I liked the one song that is extremely popular off this album. I did not like the one about eating chips in her house. Overall kinda groovy and funky but if only 2 songs stand out and one is because i don't like it, I cant rate it very highly.

S&M by Metallica
Jul 06 2024

I may need to listen to this more but I like the concept of metal band meets orchestra

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Jul 09 2024

I liked this album a lot. I do think it was quite long and could have done better in my review if it were cut down more to the essential songs.

Jul 10 2024

I love the vocalists voice. I also like synthetic pop. A few songs (the singles) I liked a lot but others did not stand out so not a 5.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jul 30 2024

Love a good jazz album. But also this faded to the background for me, so can't be 5 stars.

White Light by Gene Clark
Aug 01 2024

Probably a 3.5. I like the steel guitar and harmonica, but it was a bit too slow style folk for me

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield
Aug 02 2024

I liked his voice and it was cool that it was a soundtrack, but because of that I feel the instrumental portions felt out of place from the rest of the album.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Aug 06 2024

Not unpleasant, would probably go up with a more attentive relisten but it's not my current vibe

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Aug 10 2024

THE jazz album. I also have it on vinyl so today's album was special!

xx by The xx
Aug 20 2024

Simple, chill, elegant

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Aug 21 2024

The skits make it feel very 90s. Some good songs I hadn't heard here before.

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Aug 27 2024

Not a bad album buy didn't prefer it over another of hers recommended here.

Aug 28 2024

Like a 3.5. I liked the titular song but the others never caught my attention.

Black Metal by Venom
Aug 29 2024

Call it a 2.5. Surprisingly clear lyrics. I'm middling on the assortment of noises in addition to instruments.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Sep 04 2024

Thought this would be a 5 but didn't catch me. Could maybe listen more and score higher.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Sep 05 2024

Got me moving and grooving in a few songs. Also i feel his spanish intonation is good so could be cool to try to study the songs and understand them for learning spanish.

Phrenology by The Roots
Sep 06 2024

Generally liked but do not foresee myself putting this on again

The White Album by Beatles
Sep 21 2024

Honestly probably doesn't break my top 3 favorite Beatles albums.

BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Nov 07 2024

Is this the og bad bitch pop? So horny. Pretty good tho!

American Pie by Don McLean
Nov 08 2024

It's got that one song tho

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Nov 20 2024

I think this was a really cool rock album with horns, flute, and a general psychedelic vibe. My favorite song was Ted, just admit it

Live! by Fela Kuti
Nov 23 2024
American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Nov 27 2024

I like it but idk that I would call it an instant classic. Plus I think the dead is best live (or on their live records)

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Dec 17 2024

Odd album because it had some of the best stones songs but also really a lot of songs I would skip.

Make Yourself by Incubus
Dec 18 2024

Good album if looking for some 90s/00s rock. Has some hits. Doesn't beat daughtry tho

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Dec 30 2024

The only time this album caught my attention was him repeating about her eyes and hair over and over again. Uninspired, not groundbreaking as the spotify artist description declares.

Jan 04 2025

Whatever genre this is is kinda growing on me by being forced down my throat from the algorithm

Smash by The Offspring
Jan 07 2025

Had some fun grunge and Ska like elements. Not a 5 as there was some songs I didn't care for, like the 10 minute one that goes silent for a while

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Jan 09 2025

I kinda liked it because it was jazzy. But I could see the complaints from the artist description about the artist being a little on the nose with his social complaints in music.

Roots by Sepultura
Jan 10 2025

Not personally for me though I am not a huge metal head. My favorite song was the very sparse soundscape called something to do with canyons. A bit too industrial for my tastes

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
Jan 12 2025

Close to a 4 star. I enjoyed a lot of this but it was more raw of an album than I like, though I could see that part being a plus to others. Proto grunge

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jan 14 2025

A rap classic. You could maybe argue 4 stars because I don't love the skits but his its catchy. He has good flow, and the beats are good too

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jan 15 2025

Subtle and atmospheric. I could stand to revisit this closer

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Jan 20 2025

BLACK HOLE SUN WONT YOU COME WASH AWAY THE RAIN

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Jan 22 2025

Kinda jam band type vibes but still those catchy stones guitar lines

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Jan 23 2025

This one is like a 3.5 for me. I liked some songs and his range of voice is incredible, but over all I think the album was too slow of folk music. K like it a little more up beat

It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
Jan 24 2025

Feels like a sound track to an early 20s coming of age movie

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Jan 25 2025

Deserves more listening. Nonvocal jazz with a focus on I think synth? Could move up for me.

Boston by Boston
Jan 29 2025

Honestly could be a 5. A lot of bangers on here, both vocally and musically like foreplay. Reminds me of steely dan or Fleetwood mac.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Feb 01 2025

Felt like more poppy grateful dead with harmonica. Maybe this will convince miles the grateful dead weren't gods green gift to this earth

Ys by Joanna Newsom
Feb 05 2025
Disraeli Gears by Cream
Feb 06 2025

Started really strong with the first 2 songs but the rest of the album was forgettable, including some skippable songs

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Feb 08 2025

Imo one of the best folk/country albums ever

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Feb 11 2025

Idk that I like this style of 80s music much tbh

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Feb 13 2025

I am not much of a lyrical man but this album gives the feeling of the struggle of inner city cycles via alternatives to lyrics such as gun shots ending songs soon. I will have to give damn another listen it it won the pullitzer over this album.

Dummy by Portishead
Feb 20 2025
The Message by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five
Mar 05 2025

Mixed feelings on this. I think it had some iconic bass lines and catchy hooks but I didn't really enjoy it much. It feels like a goldmine of samples

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Mar 06 2025

Could be maybe a 3.5. The album is fine but it doesn't really stand out from other 50s music. I feel like Elvis big innovation of music was sex appeal

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Mar 07 2025

I could stand to listen more. Could be a 5. I like this guy, second high rated album.

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
Mar 10 2025

Irish folk punk. I would put this more on folk than punk. Not to say it didn't have punk, but the overall vibe of the album was less energy than I expect from just punk. I think lyrics may be important to this band, and I do not typically understand lyrics well until many more listens and more in depth listens so this album was a miss for me.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 11 2025

Mega chill

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Mar 12 2025

Did not catch my attention

GREY Area by Little Simz
Mar 13 2025

I like the distortion and horn elements

Goo by Sonic Youth
Mar 14 2025

In terms of preference from me this is probably a 3. I liked some songs, skipped some others. However it's a 4 because i think the sonic youth distortion sound is instrumental in their genre and this album brought it more into the mainstream

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Mar 16 2025

Too religious

1984 by Van Halen
Mar 17 2025

Had popular hits on it but honestly didn't care for this album much. It's not bad, and an easy listen, but I don't think I would ever intentionally come back

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Mar 18 2025

Is this prog rock? Idk. Chill, atmospheric, easy to listen to. Would revisit.

Blur by Blur
Mar 19 2025

I like blur. Also song 2 has got some grunge to it. Not a 5 though, only a few memorable songs

Guero by Beck
Mar 22 2025

Reminds me of Manu Chau. Beck kinda fucks in an alternative way

Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Mar 26 2025

Jazzy but also synthy. Spotify description called it Jazzy rock so i believe it.

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Mar 27 2025

Quite fun! Not perfect because I think this album shined on its hits for me and had some filler. Definitely better than Elvis tho, this was more exciting 50s.

Dookie by Green Day
Mar 29 2025

Surprisingly mid. Good guitar hero music tho

Dirty by Sonic Youth
Mar 30 2025

I should listen to all the recommended sonic youth and pick my favorite. I am a fan but I could see it getting old in long format, seems mlre like a singles to Playlist type band for me

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Apr 01 2025

Couldn't find this on spotify. I listened to the one his most popular songs were on and enjoyed it less than expected tbh

21 by Adele
Apr 02 2025

Piano, sad girl, strong vocals, milfy at 21. What's more to want? Also damn this album is straight uo half top 10 hits.

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Apr 03 2025

Mid. Took a long time to gain popularity because it doesn't stand out. Bass fucks tho

The Rise & Fall by Madness
Apr 04 2025

Couldn't find on spotify so I listened to a different album but overall didn't like

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Apr 05 2025

Powerful voice

The Doors by The Doors
Apr 07 2025

The hits are hits and the rest are forgettable. 1/3 of the album is one song.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Apr 15 2025

Very similar to adeles albums. Laiona says both are sad but this one actually feels sad, which I can agree with in the vocals. I liked it but I can't say I liked all the songs so much to call this a masterpiece.

Giant Steps by The Boo Radleys
Apr 16 2025

Did not enjoy this one

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Apr 17 2025

One song was way too much static noise which turned me off the whole album

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Apr 18 2025

I would say this is between a 3 and a 4. The album has 4 interviews which I don't love. The songs are good though, but I'm not sure what is original vs covers

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Apr 22 2025

I really like the blues harmonica combo. Would need to listen to the live album again to decide which I like more

Call of the Valley by Shivkumar Sharma
Apr 25 2025

I am not against instrumental but this didn't really catch me. Bonus points for the artist using an indian instrument that is not mainstream in western media tho

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Apr 28 2025

I think I liked this more than the last led zeppelin. Could maybe bump to a 4 with more listening

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Apr 29 2025

Liked it less than the other doors album

Heroes by David Bowie
May 01 2025

I liked this more than other David bowie. Honestly if this album were the full instrumental songs it would be a 5 for me.

This guy kinda sounds like the radio head singer

Ananda Shankar by Ananda Shankar
May 15 2025

Good vibes. Is this like a sitar pop cover album? Probably won't play actively but could be good as just chill background music for hanging out or whatever

May 16 2025

has the problem of a lot of 90s rap albums where I think there are too many skits. Love the vision of the group though, a financial collective

OK by Talvin Singh
May 17 2025

Electronic Indian music. Cool album i probably otherwise never would have found!

Nowhere by Ride
Jun 11 2025

Artist description says shoe gaze. I think this is some of the most consumables shoe gaze I've listened do. I would say it doesn't have that rough polish of someone like sonic youth though

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jun 19 2025

There's one song in here that uses trumpet. I wish i knew the name I'd play that one more. Im gonna learn to play money for nothing guitar riff as my like 6 month goal. Idk if that's reasonable.

Maxinquaye by Tricky
