Great rhythm section! Bass was there but not overplayed. Hardest working drummer I’ve heard.

I would rate lower, if I could. There has to be a better way to discuss real or perceived racism than to create a racism rant against racism, especially in a format as repetitive and artsy as this tried to be.

Parts of it sound like surfer Pink Floyd. Not your typical Beach Boys. I really enjoyed “Student Demonstration Time” though.

5 of 8 songs are classic rock staples. Billy Powell is amazing.

An interesting listen. The well-known songs are the best ones. With a few exceptions this album is like a long EP.

Great album. She really shines on the songs she sings with a gritty voice or a strident tone.

Great album. Broken/Head Over Heels/Broken is fantastic! Good sangs I already knew, but the rest of the album was varied and excellent.

Band was OK - vocals had too much Patti LaBelle going on.

Dark. Put together well, but a live show would be better, I think. Overall, very good.

Great album - several classic rock staples here. Innovative use of synth, for the time.

A couple good tracks

This is one album that has not aged well. I can see where some of the later bands (Metallica, for one) got their inspiration, but hindsight is not kind to this one. That being said, it was surprisingly musical. If you listen to this with nostalgia, it is probably great. But the genre left these baby steps (and my tastes) behind long ago. It needs a remix. Still a good album, just not my thing.

TikTok versions of songs that are only slightly longer than most contemporary TV show theme songs. Not for me.

Don’t You Want Me just proves that even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.

A good record, but this could have been awesome it they all had only played the same song at the time.

I really enjoyed this one. This may be country but it’s just on the verge of rockabilly. I’m going to listen to the next couple records, as well.

Fun, if overly commercialized, album. Blues-flavored pop that cannot be played live. I can’t help myself - I like it despite the “Modern Music” aspects.

Great album!

The arrangements, instruments, and vocals are great. The pathos is overbearing, but maybe it was cathartic. Schadenfreude is the nature of this beast, unless you’re going through the same thing, I would guess. Still, very good overall.

I never really knew much about this album, and I didn’t care much for what I heard at the time. Album-oriented FM was no longer the soundtrack of my daily routine. But listening to it now, and having learned its back-story, I can appreciate it for what it is, even if it isn’t an album I’m going to play over and over.

So not my thing. A depressed existential crooner - perfect for the beatniks in smoky coffeehouses, but did not age well.

A little twangy to get a 5, otherwise excellent. A young Emmylou Harris really shines.
