Jane Weaver
5/5
Digging the vocals and the synths. Very good music to get lost in. Very Stereolab-y. Pretty harmonies and backing vocals.

A Tribe Called Quest
4/5
Love how the tension builds throughout the album. The music seems sparse at first, just vocals and beats, but it allows the background/additional sounds (guitar, synth, horns, etc.) to stand out when they occur. Lyrics are pure poetry.
Deep Purple
4/5
This is my jam. Extended guitar solos and dirty organs. Peak 1970s live music. And a long drum solo! When does that happen nowadays?
Jane Weaver
5/5
Digging the vocals and the synths. Very good music to get lost in. Very Stereolab-y. Pretty harmonies and backing vocals.
Air
5/5
YES! I love this album. So chill and beautiful. Great music to work to.
The Smiths
3/5
Mopey music. Not bad, just not my favorite. Dig the guitar effects, tho. And Cemetry Gates is a bop.
4/5
The "hits" on this album really stand out. I'm also noticing how full Bowie's vocal range was. I'm digging the 2nd half more than the 1st half...perhaps because of the pianos?
Terence Trent D'Arby
4/5
Oooo, very soulful. Love the 80s sounds (drums especially). Huey Lewis meets Marvin Gaye.
Aretha Franklin
2/5
Aretha has an amazing voice, hands down. But I'm not that into this album. I find it a bit boring.
The Byrds
3/5
Some really beautiful songs on this album. Love the harmonies.
Missy Elliott
4/5
Very melodic. Love the harmonies and the background sounds...horns, pianos, etc. And the rapping is excellent.
Anita Baker
5/5
Oh my God, I love it already! Reminds me of my childhood. 70s sound with 80s production.
Pink Floyd
2/5
I don't know. I think Pink Floyd is kinda boring, overall. There are some good tunes and some good guitar playing on this album, but I find it mostly meh.
Frank Sinatra
2/5
I just...find this music so boring. Like background/elevator music. Maybe because I've heard it so often.
Miles Davis
3/5
Like this more than I thought I would. Rhodes and organ work well as background for the trumpet, and the songs just move and breathe like they're alive.
The Kinks
4/5
Love the harmonies straight off. Feels like it was inspired by Sgt. Pepper.
Kendrick Lamar
4/5
Very melodic and complex. Not sure how I feel about this yet, but I think I like it. Modern jazz. The more I listen, the more I really like this.
SZA
3/5
Good music. Not necessarily my taste, but I do like it.
Silver Jews
3/5
Like Wilco and Pavement had a musical baby. Simple album.
Blur
4/5
Very bouncy album! I really like it. Melodic punk.
Johnny Cash
5/5
I mean, what can you say? Fantastic artist, fantastic album. Beautiful swan song.
Bruce Springsteen
3/5
Classic Springsteen. Not really any upbeat songs, so kinda boring after a while.
David Bowie
4/5
Digging this right off the bat. Great 70s guitars. 2nd half of the album is sick.
Tim Buckley
4/5
Soulful and sad. Perfect for my mood today. Happy blues? Especially love the vibraphone.
Wu-Tang Clan
4/5
Melodic and rythmic. Love it!
Van Halen
4/5
As a synth lover, this album slaps. And rocks at the same time. Very energetic album.
Bob Dylan
5/5
Brilliant Blues.
Lightning Bolt
3/5
The definition of Noise Music. Not sure if I like this. Math rock/math metal. The songs are getting more melodic as the album goes on, which has improved my rating.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions
5/5
Love, love, love this. Fun, bouncy music with cutting lyrics. And that organ!
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
I find CCR to be pretty boring, TBH. It's pretty basic Rock & Roll. John Fogerty's voice is the only unique element.
Randy Newman
3/5
Not my bag, but solid songwriting. Randy Newman has become a bit of a joke, but cool to see where it all started.
Erykah Badu
5/5
Yes! Funky, smooth, unique voice. Musical poetry. Love this so hard!
Frank Zappa
3/5
Psychedelic jam music. Early prog-rock. I like the fullness of the instruments; horns, guitars, synths.
Belle & Sebastian
5/5
Very British, very twee in the best way. High school drama lyrics with bouncy music.
Pentangle
4/5
Renaissance Stereolab? Very traditional and haunting.
Curtis Mayfield
3/5
Good, solid funky soul.
Amy Winehouse
5/5
Strong beautiful voice with retro music.
Sparks
4/5
Very unique sound. Not sure how to describe...
KISS
2/5
There are a few decent songs on this album, but the rest are...like a bunch of songwriters attempted to write rock songs for a rock & roll musical but failed miserably. Just...bad. It's hard to take this seriously as real music and not a joke. The Monkees were a fake band with much, much better music than this "real" band.
Antony and the Johnsons
4/5
First impressions: modern Tiny Tim. Layered vocals are very powerful. I'm not really sure how to rate this yet. I can recognize the genius, but I don't know if I like it yet.
Sonic Youth

The War On Drugs
4/5
Very moody. Bob Dylan mixed with Bruce Springsteen mixed with Wilco mixed with the 80s echo sound. Would be a great road trip album.

Heavy metal Beach Boys? All hail the drum solo!
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
4/5
Classic. Full, beautiful harmonies.
Garbage
5/5
Bad ass!
Pantera
3/5
I'm not a fan of yelly music. It's hard to take it seriously; it comes across as comical to me, like a bunch of little angry boys raging. But I guess this album isn't the worst of the yelly music.
Arcade Fire
1/5
Doesn't matter how good this album is, the lead singer is disgusting, so I can't give it a high rating.
Roxy Music
3/5
The Temptations
4/5
Love the Temptations, but not my favorite album. Still, excellent music.
