1001 Albums Summary

So I listened to this when I was at work. It was catchy, and classic. It reminded me of some of he earlier works that I was exposed to when I took a class titled "The History of American Jazz" in the early 90's. Realistically this is not my genre of music....but this album was interesting to get through. 3

Got the full album experience while doing data sorts at work. I am familiary with Radiohead but this was not what I was expecting. Really did not impress me. It just was there. I would probably not listen again.

This came out when I was in high school. This was circulating around with my friends while my playlist was experimenting with hip hop, rap, and hard rock and metal. It was a nice visit down memory lane during my Junior year. Orange Crush and Stand are the two stars in this album.

A fun romp through a famous album. Brought back lots of memories of listening to that album on my portable record player in my basement growing up…trying to scratch like a rap DJ. You can’t get more classic Beatles than this one.

Was just as I remembered from the 80's. Still didn't move me much. This album was heavy on the instruments and very few lyrics. Early in their evolution as a band, this album didn't move the needle for me.

Some good musicianship going on throughout. I lived through the Disco era so I remember the music....and I really don't want to go back. This is a good album for nostalgia, but the music is pretty simplistic with the lyrics....and complex with the music. They do like saying "freak" and "chic". Now please go back to the 70's where you belong.

An album I know well. This was a part of the soundtrack of my youth. You weren't cool unless you listened to Simon and the crew. This was one of my favorites....and you can find this in regular rotation in all of my play lists. Wow what a great album.

Very surprised that I had not heard of this band. The album is full of angst and anger. I can see how this was a pioneering album in the punk movement.

I remember when this album came out. Catchy tunes from a unique personality. Great album that gave us at least 4 hits. Cant tell you how many times I listened to this album while working the Sunday morning shift at KRFS.

Talk about wash, rinse, repeat. I gave this one a closer look because my dad liked the Everlys....but this was 27 minutes of repeated riffs. The only song I was aware of was Cathy's Clown....If this was what it was like to grow up in the 1960's, it was pretty bland.

Glam Rock....I have heard a couple if these songs. Get It On (Bang a Gong) is the best on the album. It's got some unique sounds and an interesting vibe. Not bad...

Just odd....the tunes were somewhat catchy....but the lyrics were dark. Nothing really got me excited. Sorry.

Is this the soundtrack to the new Letterkenny season? I get that this may be cutting edge. But again this is a "wash, rinse, repeat" style of music that makes my mind numb. I like music that has innuendo, intrigue, and variety. Unfortunately this album fails to deliver on all levels.

Such a great combination of electric guitar and the blues. The original version of Voodoo Chile is probably the best I've heard....although this album also included the "Slight Return" version. I listened to this twice it was so good. A musical genius who's star was extinguished too soon. My favorite album we have rated so far.

This transcends generations. A great album.

These guys use the AC/DC formula of making all their songs sound similar. It was hard to get through the entire album without feeling like I had already heard this song before. Not really my style.

Haunting at times. I was in college when this came out and the whole Biggie situation played out. I never got into the whole story. I just liked the album. A solid listen.

Interesting album. I was familiar with some of the songs so it wasn't completely unfamiliar to me. Not a bad listen.

Great album. Very unique voice. Even snuck in a song with Kate Bush who has had a resurgence in popularity over the past few years. A great listen.

Interesting Album

Came out the first week of my Sophomore year at UNL and ushered in plaid flannel and great music. This was one that was in heavy rotation for me. I played it on the stereo that my parents had bought for me for my high school graduation in my dorm room. This album hit me like a steel toed boot to the face and ushered in a run of great bands to grace my rotation (Soundgarden, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains....the list goes on and on...).

Not bad. Listened while at work and it blended in with the background....so nothing really stood out. It was a worthy listen.

Very "Big Bandish".....interesting.....nice album.

I think this is the music that is playing when you take the underground walkway between terminals in Detroit. Interesting listen....but not for me.

First song was the only one I had heard. Every song sounds the same.

This is what you would expect to hear from an early 80's British pop group. It is pretty much the same format as all the other groups. You will hear hints of Duran Duran with the sax...the catchy beats with the bongos and drum fills. Pretty much on script from 1982.

Miles Davis....again? This is the 3rd Miles Davis album I have reviewed. I actually listened to this one quite extensively in my "History of American Jazz" course that I took back in college. A good listen.

Yeah Boi! I had this poster on my wall when I lived in the dorms. This is one of my all time favorites. Chuck D puts everyone to task with his lyrics while Flavor Flave is the court jester. Great album with cultural significance.

Classic Metal. Good listen.

Interesting album. Not sure where they got the intercut samples....but it gave it an interesting vibe. Not a bad listen.

Classic rap. This album is interesting when compared to modern albums. This is so measured and methodic with the delivery. You can definitely tell that rap has evolved since 1984.

Classic rock....a little too "folksy" for me.

What I would expect from an album that was recorded in the 1950's. Then it got to the songs like "Knoxville Girl" where they sing about murdering a young girl. Then the songs kind of turned a little morbid....followed by a run of religious songs. I can't really see anyone sitting down to enjoy songs like that.

I am familiar with this album. My dad had this when I was growing up. Typical folksy album. Not a bad listen.

Definitely one of the best albums I have listened to since starting this daily project. Strong alternative album rooted in blues. Some great songs on this album. Jack White makes his guitar sound like it is from another planet. Great album

One of my all time favorites. I listened to this as a kid, and will often pull this classic out when I need something to get me focused. There is not a bad song on this album. One of the top 10 of all time.

With the exception of "Connection" I had really not heard any of their work before. This was a decent album. Very much cookie cutter songs that sound the same...but they had a decent groove.

Disco....some catchy stuff but this is really a phase of music from my life that went out with body suits and rhinestones.

What an album. This came out my Junior year of high school. It completely threw things for a loop. "Cult of Personality" shreds and is completely relevant in today's news cycle. Vernon's guitar work and Corey's voice are electric on this album.

Some classic 80's angst.

Not a bad album....for really only two songs. Everybody Hurts was a decent song. I thought Man on the Moon was the best song on this album. To be honest this was a little underwhelming.

Balls to the wall from the first chord of "Enter Sandman" to the last note of "The Struggle Within." This came out while I was in college and was the standard bearer by which all future metal albums was measured against. This blew my socks off then....and it still does.

Great album. This came onto the scene and didn't sound like anything else. "Come out and Play" painted a grim picture in a funny light. And "Self Esteem" highlights the nature of that relationship you just cant escape. Dexters voice (and intelligence) makes this a band to listen to.

Jack White is able to make his guitar sound like it is in pain....which makes their music so much more enjoyable. Good album.

Saw him in concert. One of the best I have ever seen. The man can make that guitar sing.

Hard driving. This was my first exposure to Metallica and it blew my socks off. Such a cerebral song in "One". Its so scary that a soldier thought to be a "vegetable" could have full faculties and no way to communicate. Great album.

Second day in a row with a banger of an album. Purple Rain is a once-in-a-generation statement of style, substance, and sound. It’s a bold, beautiful fusion of genres that showcases Prince at his most inspired—emotional, erotic, spiritual, and electrifying. It’s not just an album; it’s an experience.

One of the original albums I listened to from Def Lep. A great album from start to finish. Photograph, Too Late for Love, Foolin', Rock of Ages....this album has some of the greatest early hits.
