Parklife
BlurI’m not British enough for this album
I’m not British enough for this album
I get it, but not for me. It probably says a lot that my favorite song was the one that sounded like a Bob Dylan parody.
Definitely one of the more unique things I’ve ever listened to! I was working through most of it so I want to listen to the lyrics more closely next time. I hear that’s where Cohen is best.
I enjoyed Keith Moon's drumming throughout, and quite enjoyed Pete Townshend's acoustic guitar. Overall though a little long and self-indulgent for me, but I feel that way about musicals in general. Pinball Wizard is still one of the all-time great rock songs.
I had fun listening to it, but is it one of the greatest albums of all time? I would have liked more tempo changes. Everything started to sound the same after a while.
I had so much fun listening to this one. A lot of old hip hop *sounds* old but this still felt fresh. Will definitely listen to this one again.
It all started sounding the same to me after the first few songs. I get that it’s a landmark album for thrash metal, but it could have been half the length for me.
This fits right in with the type of stuff I listen to when I’m coding. Flow state!
Some parts were decent but overall kind of boring for me.
The story around the album was really intriguing but the music itself didn't really connect with me.
This album always hits me with a wave of nostalgia; it just reminds me of my dad. But even trying to hear it with fresh ears, I know I would still be absolutely floored. It's crazy to think this was their first major-label release. A straight-up classic from beginning to end.
Radiohead for theater kids. At the time, this was the album I felt signified Muse selling out. Some of the songs are still kind of fun though.
I can admire his influence on the hip-hop genre, but this ultimately isn't something I'll come back to. Funnier than I expected.
Hairspray, stale cigarettes, and cocaine. I recognize EVH as one of the greatest guitarists of all time but I just can't stomach David Lee Roth. I'll Wait is my favorite song on the album - figures it's the one where they aren't as bombastic.
Man, she could sing!
Surprised by how much I enjoyed it!
They picked the most interesting songs for radio singles. The rest of the album wasn’t bad… it was just forgettable.
I’m not British enough for this album
I couldn’t wait for this to end
Just good fun
Not my genre. The first song and April 14th were my favorites and I wish the rest of the album had more of those types of songs. The rest sounded like they came out of the brown hymnal.
It was fun!
This album didn’t convince me that I was missing out on ska
Not bad!
A couple of good songs but mostly pretty monotonous
I thought I didn’t care for Iron Maiden going into this album, but I’ve realized that maybe I just don’t like Bruce Dickinson. I really enjoyed the gritty, raw sound and the punkier, less operatic vocals. I also appreciate how high up the bass guitar is in the mix. I’m still a sucker for twin guitar harmonies!
Some songs were great! Some songs didn’t age well.
Pretty interesting. Under the right circumstances I’m sure it’s awesome!
Kind of interesting, but not something I see myself going back to again
Very interesting to hear their early sound compared to what I know.
A bunch of song ideas and demos disguised as an album
The one song I recognized was the best one of the bunch
Pretty one-note
You Can Call Me Al is still a great song. The rest of it was okay, just didn’t resonate with me.
Enjoyed it!
Could not finish it
Inoffensive; occasionally great
Overall pretty forgettable musically. Please stop whispering in my ear.
A good album for a specific mood
Held my interest the whole way through
I barely made it
I really appreciate her voice. Not the target audience for the lyrics haha
Needs more snare
Generic Hallmark Movie: The Soundtrack
Too long. Some fun songs and a lot of nostalgia but one I’m unlikely to revisit.
Better than the other pulp album but not by much
I enjoyed the live band energy
Wow, what a nice surprise!
No thanks
Better than Parklife. Still fairly boring.
I was the ideal age for this album when it came out - a moody, angsty preteen. I knew every word and every riff. This was the heaviest thing I had ever listened to at that time. Then I grew up and started noticing how cringeworthy the lyrics actually are. And I discovered better and heavier metal sounds. Linkin Park suddenly didn’t seem so awesome anymore. Listening to it now is a huge nostalgia bomb for me, but objectively I still think this aged into slightly better than average nu-metal.
Virtuosic playing all around. But after Roundabout it sounded to my ears like a group of people trying to show off rather than make interesting music.
An interesting listen, especially given what else I've heard from the Arctic Monkeys guy. Probably not something I'll listen to again, though.
Not my thing but tolerable
