Big StarFor a 1978 album, it has misses and hits. Instrumentation with strings doesn't stink too bad and the vocals range from ok to meh. This would not have been on a mixtape for me in 78.

80's wasn't all disco, thank the goddess. Synth and drums on point for the time. Would watch the videos again, if MTV played music.. And Duran was reportedly Princess Diana's favorite band, so there is that vote. And I found my CD, so will put it back in rotation when I load up the old CD changer. Bob Dylan. I always need lyrics for some of his work. On this listen, I appreciate lyrics (some seem poignant, some seem silly). Harmonica breaks work well but his voice and delivery is not my taste. I did tag a couple songs but they will not be much in rotation on long car rides. Given it is 2025 the one lyric from 'It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' that made me go EWWWW! "But even sometimes the President of the United States must have to stand naked".. Get that visual out of my head NOW. Else the lyrics still resonate lo these many years. Listened before? Not gonna lie, my vocal cords hurt listening to the screaming lyrics. Not my scene, as this tries to be metal / rap. Listened before: No Saved to library: No Favorite tracks: In the End
Not for me at all. Not my genre, whatever genre(s) this might fit. Based on the music, 2 stars Based on my listening preference- 1 star Listened before: N Saved to library: N Favorite tracks: ⭐ That's all folks
This one surprised me from first track. Musically intriguing with intelligent lyrics. Some of the instrumentation was a wee grating or it would have been 4 stars. Previously listened: N Saved to library: M Favorite track (s): Sissyneck, Ramshackle Saved tracks : None ⭐⭐⭐ Worth another listen
It gets 2 ⭐ based on relevance of the lyrics in their time. The vocals were hard to listen to, and the music itself was repetitious and nothing really special (not good, not bad). Listened before: No Saved tracks: No Favorite tracks: Straight ⭐⭐ Being generous
Noise. Penance or Punishment Party? Didn't love, can't hate. Previously listened: N Saved tracks: N Favorite tracks: none ⭐⭐
Finally my kind of music!! Music/Lyrics - Chef's kiss. Vocals - Also Chef's Kiss. Guitar, synth, harmonies. Love Love. Listened before? Y - long ago Saved to library? I liked the blues aspects of several tracks. Clapton is one of my fave guitarists, in spite of his politics. I did like the instrumental track HIDEAWAY. Some of the tracks with their 1966 era lyrics were cringe when listened to with a 2025 sensibility. Previous listened: N Saved to library: N Favorite track(s): Hideaway ⭐⭐: Didn't love but didn't totally hate it. Don't have to hear it again. Didn't save any of it.
Track 1 needs more cowbell. Didn't relish this one at all on the whole. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): None ⭐: Ambiguous on this one
Listened while on my vibration plate this morning, and the beat did make time go... Good dance beats. Rap isn't my fave genre by any means, but I love that Latifah opened doors for so many women artists....and she was so young. 19? Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Come into My House, Evil That Men Do, Princess of the Posse, Latifah's Law, Ladies First ⭐⭐⭐: Would love a half star option..
Punk is a nope. I can live with the instrumentation (guitars and drum lines were nice) but the singing....just nope. . Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐: Didn't like it.
Iconic 60s album. Somewhat repetitive in sound but fun to reminisce to my early early music memories. Tutti Frutti is a classic. Listened before? Y Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Tutti Frutti, Have Some Fun ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it.
Punk and some alternative are just not my cup of tea. For The White Stripes, I have liked other songs over the years, but this particular album didn't win me over totally. There were a few tracks that resonated with me. Musically, I do like the melodies, guitars, and drums. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s)? "The Same Boy You've Always Known" (it's a little Beatle-esque), "We're Going to be Friends" ⭐⭐⭐: I somewhat like it; didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.
It's ok but the lyrics are confusing at best. Artist notes indicate there are biblical stories as inspiration (I did at least get the Samson reference). Another album that is rated high by the powers that be, but not for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): La La Love you, Silver. ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. More classic Neil Young; I am not mad at it. I prefer this one to Rust Never Sleeps overall, so thanks for this add. Songs are 'simple' with somewhat repetitive verses, but that was sort of record style in the early 70's. Orchestral arrangement of MAID is lovely though the lyrics need an explanation. The Needle and the Damage Done is poignant in its simplicity.. addiction sucks. Neil's voice is like an IPA- it's an acquired taste. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Old Man, Heart of Gold, ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved no tracks.
Classic Van Morrison. Totally loved the vibes and instrumentation (who doesn't love great drums, horns, and was that a harpsichord?) Listened before? A couple songs familiar as singles Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Astral Weeks, The Way Young Lovers Do ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it.
Excited for this one out of the gate. I love Neil Young and his annoying voice. My My Hey Hey versions opening and closing...chef's kiss. Didn't love all the tracks but will listen again. Given how prolific Neil was, these aren't his best tracks, but I love the feeling of this album. Better to burn than to rust! Listened before? N Saved to library? Not excited for this one out of the gate. II love blues most of the time but not jazzy-jam-sessions. The artists are excellent at their craft; it's jusst not for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): ⭐⭐ Didn't hate it; didn't love it. Saved no tracks.
Couldn't really listen... it's just not for me. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): ⭐ Didn't like it.
I had previously heard a few tracks, but had no clue how much I would actually love the album. After The Cisco Kid opening, came the funk, and the groove, and the jazz (that I actually liked), and an organ, and so on, and so on. Had me hooked. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Cisco kid, City Country City, The World Is a Ghetto, ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Really liked it.
Classic Stones. Woo woo woo woo woo woo... did he find out his name? Country influences and latin percussion hints were nice (Mr Richards is the penultimate guitarist). Liner notes were needed for a couple tracks for me to be able to follow the lyrics. Not my fave Stones album, but I enjoyed bits of it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Sympathy for the Devil ⭐⭐⭐ Liked it. Saved one track
Sung partially in Punjabi. Sitar was nice but was there also an accordion? The lyric "Everybody needs a bosom for a pillow" is an interesting observation. Overall, the instrumentals were distortedly grating and noisy to me, though I suppose there was an artistic meaning therein that I just missed. "Norwegian Wood" was good 😊 Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): N/A ⭐⭐: Didn't like it, didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.
“The Cutter” was an outstanding opening track. It set the tone for this album perfectly, with its guitar, bass, and drums; then bring in the strings. “Back of Love” and My White Devil were my other faves. Xylophone in there? The singer gave me maybe a little Bono vibe in a few measures now and then. Listened before? N Saved any tracks? N Favorite tracks? The Cutter, Back of Love, My White Devil ⭐⭐⭐⭐: Liked it. Saved no tracks.
Moody and trippy and just disturbed/disturbing. I used a lyric app to follow along. As poetry goes, some tracks made sense. Others just left me blank. Need another gummy onboard before I give this one another go. Please don't let this artist appear on this list again... my anxiety cannot handle it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Love You. Here I Go. ⭐⭐: Didn't like it. Didn't hate it. Saved no tracks.
I do like Bono and the gang. Musically they are rock enough but some ballads shine as well. I am separating musical Bono from his political/huge ego Bono to give this 3 stars. Listened before? Y Saved to library? Y Favorite track(s): Mysterious Ways. One. ⭐⭐⭐: Liked it! Saved no tracks.
Strings in the opener. Chef's kiss to Bitter Sweet Symphony. The Rolling People was good rock&roll times. Listened before? Partially Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): Bitter Sweet Symphony. Rolling People, This Time ⭐⭐⭐⭐ really liked it! Would save a bunch of tracks if that was a thing I did
Harmonies of the backup singers. Symbolism in the lyrics are lost on me. Leonard C wasn't played in my growing up house that I recall. Songs are too melancholy for a rainy-ish Sunday morning. Awesome Spanish Guitar? on Teacher. Master: meaning evades this listener; the Reddit discussion gives this song deep religious meaning, so.. OK to that. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): The Stranger. Teacher. ⭐⭐ Didn't like it. Didn't hate it, Didn't understand it.
A Band ironically? named The Band. So happy to hear this one!! Instrumentation, vocals, and melodies. superb. Blues and Rock with harmonies. Listened before? Classic Genesis sound with what seemed very experimental tracks. This double album was daunting to get thru. Peter Gabriel vocals with Collins drums on the version I sampled were great. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Nope ⭐⭐⭐ Liked it. Saved no tracks
Boy band member goes solo. The vocals started sounding similar out of the gate, and reminded me of MJ. I am not a fan of JT overall, but some of the 2002 lyrics gave me cringe. Listened before?
