One of my favorite albums when I was in college, a millennial folk dream. Super creative and influential songwriting
last time I listened to this I gave it a 5, today it is a 4. I think it's a very cool concept and there are some great tunes on here as well :)
I'm really surprised, but I liked this. They have a comforting, nostalgic sound and I was impressed. Don't know if I'd ever put it on again but fully enjoyed it while it was on.
I love Sam Cooke. And these songs are great. But live albums from this era are just not my favorite. The banter with the audience almost feels unreal and the audience almost sounds like they’re not listening to him. Then the songs are mostly played very quickly and it’s just a list of them. Musically I enjoyed this and I would have loved to have been there, but from the perspective of listening as an album, it’s not my favorite.
How do I say this kindly? It's inoffensive. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. They have a nice sound but it's a little white bread to me.
Such a unique vibe, a mixture of so many styles and a very sunny listen. Gave it 4 and not 5 because it went on a little long but I liked having this one on.
Look, it's nice. The songs are all very similar, and they were amazingly groundbreaking and influential at the time, but now I think I only need one or two songs.
This album is a force of nature and I know it deserves a 5, but I’m not a huge fan of the “singing” the entire time. Patti Smith is a total rockstar and she deserves better than this (my rating)
Just not my cup of tea. I’m sure it’s someone’s.
Look. Just because you can play polyrhythms doesn't mean I wanna listen to it
Nick Drake is always a breath of fresh air. I prefer his other albums, but his voice singing to me on my.mornimg commute is always welcome.
I really liked the song Limelight. I think they have a nice sound, but I'm not really drawn in enough to want to be a fan. Also his voice is kinda nasal
A great album. What else is there to say??
Well made, but makes me feel nothing.
I like James Brown, he’s fantastic. I think the recording of this isn’t my favorite, I don’t love the constant audience screams and I always feel like the crowd interactions are very staged, even if they’re not. I wish I had been there, and I love the studio versions, but I’m not dying to listen to the live album.
Pleasant, but did nothing for me.
There's better metal than this. Also the production is atrocious and most of the riffs are just Motorhead
For what it is, it's good. Wouldn't choose to listen to it
MY FAVORITE MAN!! maybe besides my husband but maybe not
Not as bad as I thought! The good songs are great and the bad songs are pretty terrible but overall I was into it
Good but not my favorite Dylan
A great album, but very long
Only the hit. The rest not so much
I like their sound, but didn't care for any of the songs
Better with every listen. The king of songwriting and his voice is still in good shape in this album
Really good. I have to be in the mood for it though.
Very much of it's time, which I like! This is a cult I would probably join
would be even better if they left out all the weird mouth noises. Also it's pretentious
A joy to listen to. Sometimes the songs go on a little long but who doesn’t love a little disco
One song clearly better than the rest. Not my favorite type of music but it’s listenable
A great sound, very nostalgic
I hate this less than the first time I heard it
Of its time. I certainly didn't need to hear this before I died.
I respect it. Not something I'd want to have on and listen to but the sound is nice and the concept is solid
Reading about this concert helped a lot. I had a similar experience (though I'm not Keith Jarrett) when I travelled overseas for a show and they presented me with a keyboard that was literally a toy. 4 octaves, plastic, no pedals. I completely freaked out and didn't want to play. Had to rework my whole set and it was terrifying. Hearing this concert in it's mastery and knowing that it was an incredibly stressful case of improvisation.. it's IMPRESSIVE
Pleasantly surprised! Holds up well after 20 years, nice mix of hip-hop and r&b, a nice listen!
Dated but fun. Buffalo stance is by far the best song
I cannot believe I didn’t hate this but I did not. It’s like dirtier strokes or the white stripes
Loved finally listening to this one
Listenable, but not mind blowing
Better with every listen. I love the clean, very bopable music behind the rapping itself, and any hip-hop album under a hour and a half is already well rated in my book
It's okay. There's better britpop out there.
Was really surprised by this! It aged well
It’s.. fine. The accent is killing me tho
this is such a great album. so unique, so catchy
I like the songs more than the way they sound
It's admittedly old fashioned but girlie can saaangg
Doesn't sound like anything else whatsoever. She's a bit of a weird person BUT this is pretty good
She’s got the most beautiful voice. It’s a little one note for a whole album but I enjoyed it
Perfect new wave. But sadly I don’t like new wave.
Not my favorite style but well done
I mean there are so many good songs on this
It’s alright. Don’t hate it, don’t love it
This was the HOTTEST shit when I was in middle school and therefore I feel it is cool to like this
rough. and a little racist
I mean what can you even say? This sets the bar for heavy metal
yeah. a classic, better with every listen
There’s nothing like it really. Something about his sound
The groove is immaculate. Every once in a while I was thinking that they also all sound the same, but it's a killer sound so who cares
Morissey is annoying but his band rocks
I was expecting to just be waiting for the last song, but this was a fun listen all the way through!
Stevie's a genius and it's a pleasure to listen to this
Insane. I feel like I am inside a film.
This album feels dated to me. I liked listening to it (and I LOVED the song Sweet Dreams of course) and I like Annie Lennox, but I don't need that much 80s synth in my life
what is it about this band? is it nostalgia? I love it so much.
Fantastic. Grace is amazing
The best britpop. By a mile
Every time I listen to this it gets better. They may not be the most groundbreaking, but they have a great sound, and the arrangements are lush. A pleasure.
One of my absolute favorite albums. The concept is genius, the songs are devastating, and only sufjan can arrange using the weirdest instruments and yet it’s gorgeous. Ugh
Some nice songs, but it’s dated as hell and VERY cheesy
how did I never listen to this before? It's really everything Indie Rock should be. fantastic
A masterclass in creativity. I'd be curious how much it helps to be into jazz already, because it's not an easy listen. But it changed the musical world.
Just dreary. All of the songs have a small chord progression that loops for 5 minutes at a time. I understand that there is some poetry going on but without any vocal inflection at all, I don't care about the poetry. Just dragged on and on and on and made me feel depressed.
Put me in a wonderful mood! The kutis are a talented bunch.
I really enjoyed this, Prince's extreme horniness aside. However; every song could benefit from being a good two minutes shorter, and then maybe another song thrown in there? But yes. Completely danceable
This in theory could be nice, but nothing stuck. It felt a bit lifeless to be honest. If I need to hear this before I die... Well
how to describe this? fun noise. don't know if I'd relisten but it's certainly different in a way I respect
I mean, I wish I had been there
Just did not stick. I did not hate myself while listening to it, but it sort of washed over me and was gone, and I looked at my phone a few times hoping it would be over and yet also did not notice when it had ended.
Fine. Classic rock is classic rock, I don’t know how you could be obsessed with this
Okay, first time I gave this 2 stars, but I get it now. Listened to it on the road and felt it.
As everyone has said, a punky version of the stones. Not what I expected, and a fun listen
It's insane that the first three songs are the opening of this album, such heavy hitters. The rest is "nice"
I can't deal with this album. It doesn't do it for me AND it doesn't sound good.
Every second I hate it more. Like being abducted by aliens and the sound itself is also shit
Everything about this is genius
They are so cool. This is so cool.
Fine! Pleasant, but too many blues tunes at the back half that just sound like.. the blues. He deserves credit for being considered one of the best guitarists of all time but the songwriting is not much more than just pleasant
The first time I listened to this I gave it one star. And I was absolutely wrong. A masterpiece
Too long, but groovy as hell. The playing, oof
Reggae is not my favorite but if I’m going to listen to it, it’s gonna be this
They’re great together. One of the bands where my ideal situation would be a greatest hits album but yeah, I’m into it
The best Dylan album. I refuse to elaborate
