First Band On The Moon

I was hoping to like this one. But baby voices are annoying and the music isn’t good enough to compensate. Boring, uninspired pop crap. Men love that sexy baby sound.

The album is kind of boring. Lovefool is the obvious standout but it seems to me that this song is overplayed everywhere and I am pretty sure I would be happy if I never heard it again. Iron Man cover is sort if interesting but nothing to write home about. One star.

One okay song and the rest is a bland soup.

Hard no. The 90s gave us some great albums. Just not in 96. It was a spectacularly crappy year for music. If it wasn't for The Fugees it would almost be a complete wash. "First Band on the Moon" is a great example of mid-90s garbage rock. No, that's not a typo. It's not garage rock. It's garbage not because of technical or monetary reasons. One can only assume it's garbage on purpose. Like, that was their aesthetic. Utterly pretentious trash... with an ever-so-slight rock tinge. It's a collection of parse, poorly-mixed songs lead by whispery, too-twee, fairy-garden vocals and stuffed full of pseudo-intellectual lyrics. It's just garbage. I'm not even going to give it credit for "Lovefool" because there are a dozen covers of it that are 100x better than this garbage original. Did I mention that this is garbage? Because it is. Utter garbage.

Could’ve easily gone my whole life without listening to this album. The vocals are lovely but the music is so dull. Was interesting to read that The Cardigans are Swedish tho - so much famous music from Sweden !

Weird, unique sound but songs quickly got fluid in that they sounded like one another. I think the album could be in any order and would still work

Twee beyond twee. Each song seems to include a break down ending over spaghetti mixed guitars, pretending punk chaos after frankophile bile. The teo highlights are the bizarre malicious cover of Black Sabaths Iron man and that the album mercifully is only 39 minutes long.
