Raw, abrasive and with pummelling percussion. I prefer Shellac, but cool to hear what Albini came up with first

As many others have said, it's far too long and the skits are generally pretty terrible. But it contains loads of bangers, it's hard to hate on it. Probably the Outkast album I reach for the least (after Idlewild, obviously), but still a lot to love

Really reminds me of Bowie at times

It gets VERY samey after a while, despite being sonically interesting. But fuck Bambaataa, man. The paedo fuck!

It would definitely be a five if Surfer Rosa didn't exist. It's almost perfect, just wall-to-wall bangers. But "La La Love You" and "Mr Grieves" just drag it down a bit. Not bad songs by any shot, but just a little too silly amongst the big hitters

I wanted to rate this higher, but really it's two stand-out songs (Never Let Me Down Again and Strangelove) and lots of simply, "good" songs. They've got much better albums

More of a 2.5 really. It's too long and samey, but some of that sameness is really good.

Listened to this a lot when it was released, but didn't go back to it for a while. It's a fantastic album. Feels timeless, flows beautifully, sonically rich. A true gem!

Did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I'm too old for the grime scene, and it's not in any way aimed at me. But the beats went hard and Skapta's flow is infectious. Will I listen to it again? Unlikely, but no regrets from giving it a blast.

A perfectly fine if completely inessential, country pop album. I remember liking this a lot more when it was released, but it just feels too "fluffy" and "polished" to these ears now. "High Horse" still slaps though

Like a lesser Scott Walker. Ackles can only dream of having the songwriting chops of Walker. It's not shit, but it's quite boring for something seems to want to be grandiose and bombastic. Not for me

It's just toooooo country

It's a beautiful, floaty, spacey joy. But. BUT! I'm more into Jason's more grandiose, bombastic works, so I can only give it four stars.

Would probably rank this as my favourite Cave album. It's a 5* all day long
