The great songs frustratingly end too quickly. Undoubtedly unfairly hurt by the “Seinfeld effect” for the most famous songs. Fast songs generally stronger than the slow ones. Track 2 big momentum killer. Enjoyable

Too many standards. Piano isn’t as loud in the mix as it should be.
American girl is a classic. Not much interesting beyond it. 2nd half is stronger than the first.
Fantastic performance with limitless energy. An all time great live record even in its original abbreviated form. Never get tired of it.
Boring on the first listen but gets better each time. Some astoundingly beautiful tracks that are weighed down by a bit of electronic noodling at points. But not nearly enough to make it anything less than a 5 star record.
All time great. Every track is an adventure. No notes
Fun bookend songs but very repetitive in the middle. I like it more than Kraftwerk but not by a whole lot.
The verve did successfully what Oasis were attempting to do with “Be here now”. A few songs in the first half drag a little longer than they need to but the record is a britpop classic that I won’t soon get tired of no matter how overplayed Bittersweet Symphony is.
Men will literally make an album with Phil Spector instead of going to therapy.
Love everything about this album. You never quite know where it’s going to go next. Perfectly produced as always from Prince. Extremely easy 5 stars.
The best Pavement album. They were never the same without Gary Young. Very warm sound and reminiscent of The Fall. Indie rock classic.
Probably the quintessential cock rock album. I don’t want to be unfair to it because of how overexposed a lot of these songs are in 2023 but man am I tired of hearing Running with the Devil on every clear channel classic rock station.
A somewhat flat production brings this one down a little. Classic originals mixed with some well done covers and standards. Very fun listen
My favorite kind of album that’s an adventure from start to finish. I love GBV because they more than any other group prove that songwriting is king. They pumped this shit into a hand held tape recorder and it still shines through perfectly. Bee Thousand is still my favorite though.
Some great songs but a bit too similar for me. Lots of very standard swampy stuff.
Excellent first 3 songs but loses momentum in the 2nd half. Fun listen but not in the top tiers of the genre.
There’s very few non English albums that I can connect with and this is not one of them. It’s really unfair to judge the record without knowing any of the lyrical content but the songs just blend together too much for me to get in to.
Pretty interesting. Not a huge fan of the vocals but pretty pleasant 80’s pop. Very ok
I don’t know why blues based jam bands of this era had so little faith in their own original material that they felt the need to fill an entire record of a live album with noodly covers from the 1920s. The instrumentation is obviously great but man is it boring hearing the same 12 bar blues for 40 minutes. The 2nd half is much better but still has a bit of an overindulgence problem that is a staple of the genre.
By far the best of their full band era. Every song fires on all cylinders with that distinctive sharp production quality that was unmatched for the era. 34 minutes blows by quickly.
Dre and Easy E should have just fucked and got it over with when they had the chance.
A few classics but largely boring. Wasn’t expecting the mean Bob Dylan parody. I’ll give it 3 because 2.5 isn’t an option.
So much more than I had always given it credit for. Very emotional and beautiful throughout.
A step above elevator music and not much else. Only memorable song is a cover. Not feeling this one whatsoever.
I love Queen because all 4 songwriters have such different sensibilities that you’ll be jumping around through wildly different styles every album. This one is probably the most consistently hard rock of their catalogue but it’s damn good hard rock.
Pretty ok. I like Jack White’s production sound but his songwriting has never done much for me. Most of his songs just make me want to listen to the artists he’s inspired by.
I admire and appreciate the hell out of these guys for having the courage to commit this shit to tape back in 1978. It inspired a whole generation of industrial rockers and had a large say in the future of electronic music. Is it enjoyable to listen to in a vacuum though? No, absolutely not.
It was honestly easier to get through the Throbbing Gristle album because I haven’t been unwillingly listening to Throbbing Gristle almost every day for the past 12 years. Another one where overexposure probably makes the artist sound way worse to me than she normally would on a first listen but my god am I tired of hearing Adele’s voice. Just does nothing for me. Sweetest Devotion was a nice surprise but it’s not enough to save this one for me.
One that I definitely thought I was already tired of going into it but I found even more to love about it. As overplayed as the hits are on this one the context of the whole album makes them sound so much better. Still a few too many and too long blues covers to be a full 5 stars but a classic for sure.
The best singer of all time in my opinion. This album like most others of its era has a problem with having too many covers and standards, but the performances are just too great to care all that much.
Post hardcore is a bit boring for me but I really got into a few songs. Little too long.
This one blew me away. Even the “bonus disc” of instrumentals was great. It’s a serious compliment to hold my attention for 106 minutes and at the end I’m disappointed there’s not even more. Best Beatles solo album by a landslide.
Starts off strong with bye bye love but then it’s almost nothing but covers of ballads. Did nothing for me.
The total chaos of the music is so refreshing compared to his strickly acoustic stuff. Obviously an immortal classic all the way through.
An album I enjoyed much more in my teenage years than I do now. Still has moments of brilliance like the end of Washer and Captain but is largely pretty boring and abuses the idea of build up.
Really fun rock opera. Huge fan of the kinks so this was a no brainer.
Fantastic. Like Gil Scott Heron but with 90’s style production. Really clever lyrics. Might be the best surprise of this project so far.
Learning that they fired their original guitarist because the Clash told them that she didn’t “look cool” really soured me on these girls. Album is ok.
Really enjoyed this one. A shame this group wasn’t around for very long.
Lots of nostalgia for this one but it doesn’t hold up as well as it did when I was 12. Production is so clean it hurts my ears and doesn’t have much interesting going on musically. Still an ok album.
Really really really long but pleasant. Drum and bass is not a genre I have a lot of fondness for but it’s good zone out music.
I’m a sucker for post punk. This one was a tiny bit repetitive but not enough to kill the enjoyment. Fun time.
Really great. Made me a fan of the whole band.
A few good tracks but largely forgettable mid 90’s alt rock.
Some phenomenal singles and solid tracks but a little too boring to really be put over the top. Pleasantly surprised though.
“Call the police” might be the best song they’ve ever recorded but in general it isn’t nearly as good as their earlier work.
I love this era of hip hop where everything was so fresh and cool. A ton of fun from front to back.
Don’t see the appeal whatsoever except as a movie soundtrack. Doesn’t stand on its own one bit in my opinion.
Big missed opportunity with the production on this one. Would have loved to hear these songs recorded in the funhouse style. Still pretty good but the least of the Stooges original work.
Easily their best album. Feels like this is what Nirvana was always intended to sound like but this only came together once due to budget and creative restraints. Classic.
Nothing really stuck out on this one. Really missed the rest of the pixies.
The first of 4 straight practically flawless albums from Roxy. Never stops surprising and delighting.
An old favorite of mind that played out just a little bit. Corbin Tucker remains an all time punk singer.
This album will rid you of your mental poopoo.
Was an all time favorite in high school. Still holds up today.
On the lower end of their classic era but still a great time.
I really don’t get the complaints from people who say this is too commercial. They just hate fun.
Really love the horns on this one. Reminds me of the bosstones.
Wasn’t feeling this one at all.
Their best studio album. So much to love.
An absolute tour de force
This one was a really nice surprise. Was not expecting British white boys to make good funk.
A really underrated band in general on account of Billy Corgan’s personal life. Making a 2 hour album you don’t get tired of is insanely impressive.
Father and Son and Wild world are classics but not too much else interesting on this one.
