Cold, impartial, repetitive, soulless, relentless, endless, etc etc. Void of all human emotion.
One PSB song (not on this album) is enough to last me my whole life.
Perfect soundtrack for the times. Still relevant.
Scathing soundtrack to the violence of the time. Fear, unfairness, uncertainty and at the end, hope.
Iconic operatic glimpse of love, lust, coming of age.
Landmark album for the Peppers. Good listen all the way thru.
Very difficult to listen to. Couldn't do it.
Fantastic album of collective dissonance, upbeat rock tunes and introspective songs that are diverse enough to keep you interested yet cohesive enough to present a sense of place throughout the album. A must listen all the way thru.
Classic Sinatra but gets pretty tedious by mid-album. Better arrangements of some of the songs can be found elsewhere. But, sets the mood back to the 50's and 60's for dancing, boozing, and smoking.
Not my preferred genre of music, but I get it. I especially like the music intermissions with the classroom recordings. I hope Lauren found what she was looking for.
Excellent collection of roots rock classics. elements of american blues and rock and roll. this one should be listened to over and over.
One of the finest Live Albums in Country Music. The audience was "captive" throughout the performance.
Brilliant album start to finish.
17 songs of over-dramatic screaming negativity.
WTF? Incomprehensible. Thought I had an open mind about music but I couldn't get into it.
Swingin' music of the times.
couple of great songs here, rest are forgettable. because my girlfriend in HS had this cassette and listened to it all the time. I don't remember any of the songs but 2.
Great album. Classic Dylan
Love the Pixies, love this album.
Great live album performed by a captive audience.
Sorry. Bored as hell listening to Morrissey's monotone. This album sounds like 1 song played over and over. Sorry, don't care how deep his lyrics are, if the music isn't interesting, it gets 2 stars for valiant effort.
Waterfalls is catchy--until the nasally rap-then falls apart quickly. A few nice harmonies, but not enough to keep it interesting. The interludes were the best part.
Glad this album was suggested. I've never explored Phair's music before. Girl power all the way. Songs are paired down to the bare minimum using only her voice and a single instrument but they could easily be paired with a full band to produce a bombast. Good job Liz.
Solid rock album. Should be on the Top 100 of all time.
Technically beautiful but mostly forgettable. Production is late 80’s so sounds like everything else that was put out during that time. Glad to re-live it, but I’ve moved on.
Smooth jazz. Not my jam since early 90's. But they've got it going on. Just not goin on my playlist.
Brilliant. Ahead of its time. Wonderful start to finish. Bowie.
A steady drone of boredom. You must be way stoned to perceive any satisfaction from this album. A song starts, you expect it to build over the next 3-10 minutes, but it doesn't. Then you keep listening to see if it could get any better, but it doesn't. Then you fully expect some sonic release by the end of the song, but you finally realize you've been duped, you're left unfulfilled, and disappointed in yourself for wasting an hour of your life. Can't get it back BTW. 1 star for the fact they actually get this stuff recorded and 1 star for a few riff ideas that could be made into real songs.
Was a dancing good there that night I bet
Filled with interesting driving organic percussion beats and typical newer Radiohead vocalizations, this album is interesting at times, but exciting very seldom. It's not their best effort, not an album to listen to over and over. I love Radiohead but this one I only pulled a few track and pitched the rest.
Catchy. interesting lyrics
Weird. Thanks for suggesting, but I won't listen again.
Excellent examples of NY from acoustic to hard rock. An important listen.
Pleasant enough, but I don't feel like sleeping right now.
Nice one. Didn't know this existed.
Is this supposed to be some groundbreaking R&B album? I must be ignorant.
Sorry, couldn't listen to this even part of the way through.
I like Prince. I do not like this album. Awful.
Top 100 albums of all time. Classic.
For an album listed as a top 100 of all time, i'm not sure. Yes, some fantastic grooves and interesting tracks, but as a whole it would be down on my list. I'll listen again and maybe I can find that collective album spark.
Never listened to this album all the way through. Blew my mind!
Masterpiece of a live concert by one of rock’s greatest bands.
Brilliant guitar work, dark and brooding lyrics. An interesting listen but not something that needs to be on my playlist.
I want to scream and smash things. I guess I like it.
Different from other MD recordings. Brilliant grooves that ebb and flow bring the listener along on an interesting journey. While most MD recordings leave me bored, this album kept me waiting to hear “what’s next!”
The Cure. Nothing different. But, The Cure.
Glad to give this a listen. Some old Pixies in there, but otherwise a basic alternative/garage band album. A few cuts were worthy of downloading but the rest were average an forgetable.
Using all stellar artists for a backup band, it was hard to tell who was in control of this album. Most cuts were messy instrumentalists vs intramentalists vying for attention. In one song, it sounded like 3 guitar solos going on at once while pitted against the harmonica. A bit of a mess. I don't think this is the Muddy Waters that I want to be associated with.
Madonna is talented. This record doesn't reflect that. It's basically an autotune irritation. But, as I was quickly dismissing track after track, I came upon "I Deserve It" which is an acoustic guitar backed track featuring her voice. Nice. Why doesn't she do a whole album like this instead of that crappy electronic poppy bullshit? Couple of other tunes that bear mentioning: "Paradise (Not for Me)" has a dark and brooding vibe with a really cool backbeat groove and the ending tune "Gone" is a quiet, self-reflection that closes out a 3 song album. The rest is noise.
This may have been a groundbreaking electronic album when it came out 47 years ago, but it didn't age well. Sounds silly and juvenile. Probably a must listen if you're really into electronica but there's so much better stuff out there.
Girl don't waste that, swallow it all! Terrible and disgusting.
Couple of stellar tracks here, the rest gets tossed into the "old music no one listens to anymore" bucket.
classic 60's pop. haven't really explored their dark side yet.
Hard to believe this band took itself seriously. Or maybe I just don't get it. Or maybe they don't take themselves seriously and this is all a silly joke. I remember hearing about the band back in the day but never really knew who they were. This app forced me to take a listen. I hadn't missed much.
Brilliant masterpiece by one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time.
This album is a gem. A museum piece of Americana. Stories of youth, love, desperation and hope. Superb musicianship and storytelling, this should be in your top 100.
Love this! Can just put this on and you've got a groovy reggae beat and soulful tunes that just glide across the air. Good suggestion!
I've never listened to this album all the way thru and this was no exception. Despite the fact that MJ was a talented artist, the album title says it all: BAD! This album is reaally bad. After the 15,000th breathy hiccup, my eyes rolled back so far in my head I couldn't see. My ears were suffering from such disappointment. MJ was trying really hard, WAY TOO hard. While there are some popular songs on this album, that doesn't mean it has any lasting value. the sound the songs, the lyrics--nothing aged well.
Brilliant! A giant eff you to the establishment saying I've got your attention now, so listen to what I've got to say. No more boxed into a corner, Dylan just lets his mind go where it wants to go. Brilliant!
Not terrible, just not my thing.
I hear some hints of old time R&B/Soul and nice use of horns.
Monster of an concept album. Exciting from start to finish, this is a must listen.
All of psychedelia all wrapped up into 1 album. It's all in there. Groovy.
Influence for New Wave? I don't know, but lots of bands did this style much better.
It's a collection of annoying Christmas songs that I never want to listen to again.
2 hits on the record, both classics. A mostly upbeat, positive album. Won't likely hit my "listen again" list though.
Well, as elevator music goes this is pretty good. Fell asleep about halfway thru the first tune but I'm sure the rest was good too.
In the vein of The Cure and Depeche Mode. Dark and brooding, heavy bass and droning vocals.
Classic Springsteen. Americana at its best while also protesting America. Brilliant.
Another classic by Springsteen. A cathartic collection of songs dealing with grief, anger, hope.
Early Queen was quite special. Rock opera specialists. Love this.
I hear this was groundbreaking at the time it was released. OK for some background noise, interesting in parts, relaxing in others, exciting sometimes.
Soulful tunes from the R&B master
Hard to be negative about John Lennon, but this album doesn't grab me like one would if he were part of the Beatles. Sure, Imagine is a meaningful, classic song, but the rest of the album just doesn't give me anything but partial vibes, fuzzy musical landscapes, and OK lyrics. I may be off the mark--haven't read what everyone else posted here, just my take.
Punk/rock/garage, not sure. Dudes hopefully learned a few more chords later in their career.
The name "Melodrama" basically sums up this album. It's exactly what I would expect a 14 year old girl would want to listen to while she cries about her girlfriends being mean while her boyfriend won't keep asking her for a handjob in the car, then quietly cutting her wrists just so she can feel something.
If you want to listen to an album that is basically the same song for 11 songs. I just couldn't.
this is some awful bitch-ass shit. Can't listen to much of it with all the autotune whale cries but the message I got was "girl power." That got her a second star.
3 major classics here, the rest is filler. Not their best album but it was a preview of the greatness to come.
Brilliant album from a Texas treasure. She blew us all away with this album!
Some cool stuff in there, just got to wade through it to find it.
WTF is this? XTC wasn't listenable in their heyday and they're still difficult. Very odd. They get an extra star for the multilayered sounds using strings and horns and everything.
The most annoying and beautiful voice at the same time. Incredibly talented but her style and vocalizations did not stand up to the test of time.
This is the type of music that you hear but don't hear during a movie. Not needed on this list.
nothing offensive, nothing exciting. Not bad, kinda lost interest. So many bands do this sort of style much better.
