First album and review on this platform
Got this album, am aware of the musician have never gave him a chance. Upon the first track, was greeted with great production for the time, twany guitar and tight music. However holy hell are the lyrics ever cornball shit. We get it man, you're a ladies man.
Highlights: Sweet Surrender, fun little track, like the Flamenco licks, and the general atmosphere of the song. Enjoyable experience
Lowlight: Get in Top and Nighthawkin' repetitive and wasn't prepared for the cornball lyrics.
Right little album that's 7 tracks and 39 minutes.
Would have rated it 4/5 but because of those lyrics it's a 3
What a fantastic album, seeing Bowie shift to a more piano/rock style is a fun listen.
This album has multiple incredible piano sections. And some other songs people don't like(Andy Warhol, which is a solid track)
What is there to be said about Life on Mars that already hasn't been said?? Some amazing storytelling, perfectly completed by the music in a non didactic way, building into climax which is the best chorus on the album where the lyrics are working in the opposite direction of the verse. *Chefs kiss*
Then you have Changes, Then Pretty Things, Quicksand, Andy Warhol and The Bewlay Brothers.
Favorite track, Queen Bitch, straight punk rock in vein of The Modern Lovers
Solid 4/5 stars those 41 minutes just roll by
First two tracks - can do without
World of Pain - an actual fun track with some interesting arrangements, kinda catchy.
Dance the Night Away - trippy, creepy, great guitar tone and some interesting riffs, is there a 12 string guitar in this track??
Blue Condition - kinda of a boring track, great bass riff and tempo just does nothing for me.
Tales of Brave Ulysses - the most interesting track of the album so far, great guitar work, might be the first song with a wah-wah pedal. Like the down tempo changes in the song. Great story telling and atmosphere
SWLABR - just doing their thing, kinda a typical cream song, guess it breaks some of the weirdness up at this point. Good vocal work, bass arrangement, solid drumming. The drumming shines in this track
We're Going Wrong - some of the best vocals in the album
Outside Women Blues - maybe the best riffs on the album, good storytelling, catchy, groovy, psychedelic, some good rock here on this track, but it's a cover by Blind Joe Reynolds, just listen to the original.
Take it Back - very blues oriented, decent track, sticks out on the album, not my favorite however appreciate what they are doing here. Would have loved some Silver Apples simeon sound on this track
Mother Lament - by far the funniest track on this album(is it about a baby going down the drain??)it's goofy, fun piano going on. Glad they ended the album on this note. Just wish the track was maybe a minute and thirty seconds longer with some wild piano. Why hasn't ween covered this??
Overall, it's much better than the debut album, however CREAM doesn't do it for me. There's no OOMPH in this album, that would make me return to it. The classic tracks like Sunshine of your love, does nothing for me even though it's part of pop culture. Don't really like their take on psychedelic, the album is just okay. There are some stand out moments however overall, doesn't do it for me.
Best tracks, Dance the Night Away, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Mother Lament
First off gotta say, that STEM freak can kick rocks; doesn't know what they are missing with this album.
Am completely aware of this album, bought it in the 10th Grade and the CD magically disappeared and never revisited it since. So when it popped up, I knew immediately I was in for a treat.
Fantastic record that's full of soulful jazzy productions by two of the greatest hip hop producers, J Dilla and his laid back beats and Kanye West with his vision. This album is Kanye's "Donuts"
Album kicks off with a huge bang with Be, great conscience hip hop with some boom bap. Backpack rap died and Kanye rose from the ashes. Fantastic sample, great verses and a catchy hook. How can the song not put you in a good mood??
The Corner has some of the smoothest performances on the album. Like a hot knife cutting through butter.
Faithful, Chi-City and the first part of It's Your World are some highlights on the album that show soul, a great mind, killer flow and wordplay, dope rhyme schemes and some killer beats by J Dilla and Kareem Riggins
Easy 4/5 stars
This album didn't do it for me. Great sound for a live album, but man, I can't stand his voice or his lyrics. Dude is a cornball. Phenomenal instrumentals, like really tight everything else didn't work for me. It also felt longer than 49 minutes.
Gentle on my mind was a fun track, also reminded me a lot of Towns Van Zant.
In the Ghetto was another fun track which I enjoyed. Great storytelling
All in all, might be blasphemy to say, it's only a 2/5
Came into this not knowing who this band is or anything about them. Did a little search on the band and came across the story of Richey Edwards. Suffice to say was super interesting and was pleasantly excited to this album.
The first song kicks off with great vibes very early 90's ATL rock, get some emo vibes specifically Jimmy Eat World.
The rest of the album gets nasty, heavy, angry lyrics. We're this guys in pink bands as teenagers??
Ifwhiteamericatoldthetruthforonedayitsworldwouldfallapart is the best track on the album.
Tough messages, beautiful melodies, fantastic lyrics just check out these titles:
Of walking abortions
She is Suffering
Die in the Summertime
The Intense Humming of Evil
Got to check out more of these guys, clearly they had critical success and commercial output but this album seems unlike anything else they have done.
Highly recommend!!
5/5 stars
Credit goes to the person who created the track listing for this album. This album could have been a dud with its repetitive beats and general lowlights on the album.
Groove is in the heart is clearly a banger of a track.
Overall, didn't enjoy myself listening to the album
Solid jangle pop with some post punk influences with a sprinkle of shoegaze cool album to listen to while it's raining.
Went away from their noisy debut to make an accessible pop album with interesting melodies with beautiful atmosphere. Lyrical content that touches some bases of longing, introspection, pessimism, romanticism that deliver a cerebral/ethereal response.
Favorite tracks: Happy when it rains, Nineillion Rainy Days bleeding into April Skies, Fall and On the Wall
Enjoyable experience 4/5
One of a kind, always an attempt to duplicate, never replicated. Eccentric though her creative journey. She's ambitious for her strange blending art rock, pop hooks, theatrical twists, complex beats with a beautiful vocal performance as always. Is a one of a kind.
This album is the bases of a sub genres called witch house. Fight me on this :)
Favorite tracks are Hounds of Love, Cloudbusting(guess who used this as a sample) Under Ice to Waking the Witch is completely unexpected but holy hell that's shit is metal as fuck and finally top it off with a beautiful Celtic beat in Jig of Life
5/5 easiest rating so far
No denying the cultural impact of this album in the 90's is just been played out
This is an album I didn't need to listen to before I die. Dated, repetitive and failed to interest me in any way shape or form. I can usually find some kind of redeeming quality to art however came up empty with this one.
Sounds like music that would be playing at the beginning of Blade.
1/5 stars
Was eagerly awaiting a new album and saw R.E.M pop up and was immediately disappointed; an audibly sigh. Thinking to myself, alright let's plow our way through this.
First track pops up, Radio Free Europe. Was pleasantly surprised by the jangly guitar and upbeat vibe of the track and tight composition
Pilgrimage, Laughing, Talk About Passion were kinda let downs. Went right back to the mindset at the beginning before playing this album. This is just a whinny band for the dorks of the 90's
Moral Kiosk kicks in, back to that jangly guitar tone, with fun, catchy harmonies.
Perfect Circle, eh, alright it's doing it's thing.
Catapult, second favorite track on the album. Back to that jangly guitar tone, tight drumming and the funniest harmonies on the album. Catchiest thing on the album. What a fun track.
Sitting Still is solid.
9-9, my personal favorite on this album. Dark, gloomy, bass is just riffing. Sticks out as a artistic endeavor on this album. They should be proud of that track.
West of Fields is a great closer. Does the fun jangly guitar with a pinch of what 9-9 is all about. Dark, gloomy, tight drumming.
What a debut! Glad this medium made me listen to it with a different ear because at the beginning wasn't expecting much but there's a lot of heart, energy and tight compositions. Enjoyed the back end of the album more than the first half. Wish they would do more of the jangly guitar.
Favorite songs: Catapult, Moral Kiosk and 9-9
3/5 stars
Never really liked The Beatles, kinda a love hate relationship. No denying Peppers is a phenomenal album but this is just whinny, bell aching pop music. It flowed right I guess. Just not for me
2/5 stars
Maybe Kanye's greatest accomplishment, raw, unapologetic, bold, emotional, packs creativity. The lyrics are personal, honest that tells the story of fame, love and self destruction.
After listening to this album, all the song sound the same. It's boring and repetitive nothing special. Without tracks like "Yellow" and "Trouble" it would be a forgettable album
What I like about this is how raw and unpolished it is. Has a post-punk vibe going on with the scratchy guitar playing. The second half of the album kinda falls flat but there's enough good will built up at the beginning that it's fine. Bono has a lot of charisma on this album, was kinda shocked at that.
3/5 stars
Disk 1 can go away, everyone's already heard most of those tracks either on the radio or movies.
Risk 2 is phenomenal, no filler tracks just straight grunge with beautiful musicianship. Just wish 1979 was on Disk 1 and sub it out for Jellybelly, Cupid de Locke, Galapagos or Muzzle. Doesn't matter.
Best tracks on Disk 2 are Bodies, Stumbleine and my personal favorite X.Y.U
Also don't understand why Beautiful and Lily haven't been sampled yet on a hip hop track. Could totally are J.Dilla(R.I.P) or Alchemist pull it off.
4/5 stars
For the 80's R&B, it's probably one of the better produced albums. Very smooth, mellow and jazzy. Unique voice and song writing on this album. At times, the album gets cheesy, a little lazy, and a few cliches like the track "Cherry Pie" "Smooth Operator" and "Frankie's First Affair" are absolutely bangers on here. Awesome storytelling, with some unique concepts.
The album has solid, occasionally social conscious subject matter. The best track is a long song "Your Love is King"
4/5 stars
Groovier than it is funk but that's a distinction that doesn't need to be made when the album is that good. First 3 tracks are spectacular, kinda dies out till "Maggot Brain" which just grabs you by the ears and pulls you in. Then P.E Squad; nothing needs to be said besides fried ice cream is a reality
These are the kinda albums I needed when joining this group. Would have never went outta the way to check this out but it forced me to listen with a clear conscience, an open mind and enjoyed most of the 59.36 minute time length.

Fun moments, middle of the road America, didn't dislike, just didn't do much for me.
2/5 stars
This album is a straight banger. If you're into hip hop so many people have taken samples from this album from Madlib, J Dilla, Apollo Brown, Nujabes. Higher Grounds is a fun ass track. The closer track is hilarious. Had a joy listening to this. If it wasn't for this platform, would have never listen to this album.
5/5 stars
Ugh, this is the first album I didn't make it through, gave up with three tracks remaining. Can generally find some redeeming qualities from an artistic perspective but this didn't have many. The synth was cool in track two but the cool moments were far and few between.
1/5 stars
Fun album, great melodies, solid compositions, think the man might be tone deaf. At least in Streets of Fire he's trying to sing
Favorite tracks: Something in the Night, Candy's Room, The Promise Land
Just judging from this album, they seem like they would be a better cover band. Appreciate the proto-punk, power pop, garage rock style and normally like those genres but this album was kinda all over the place.
Best Tracks: Whiskey Women, High Flyin' Baby, Have You Seen My Baby
2/5 Stars
Solid beats, good flow, phenomenal production.
Went into this album not expecting much, came out pleasantly surprised. The first three tracks are your typical reggae sound.
No Sympathy and Why Must I Cry are phenomenal tracks and really showcases what Peter Tosh is a lyricist.
Igziabeher is alright, that piano is fun. Surprised someone hasn't sampled it and looped it into a beat
Ketchy Shuby is the best track, shit is so damn catchy
Till the Well Runs Dry is the second best track.
4/5 stars
Had a blast listening to this album, great prog rock.
Favorite songs: Hide in Your Shell, Rudy and Crime of the Century
4/5 stars
Wasn't a bad album, stylistically is all over the map, there's some 00 indie rock, 60's garage rock and psychedelic, moments of post-punk.
Best tracks: Slow Night, So Long, Milk, ...Four Kicks.
3/5 Stars
Didn't expect much going in, first two tracks reminded me of something out of the early 2000's movie Human Traffic where I'm British, rounding up my friend for a rave party.
Third track Shellback was phenomenal. About a minute in, it turns into a banger.
Every track with MC Det was a let down.
Favorite tracks: Shellback, The Rough and Quick, Alaskan Street
The Rough and the Quick put me through a loop
Overall, very original, sounding fairly fresh considering it came out in the year 2000 *Conan O'Brien's voice* IYKYK
Super high 3, not quite. 4
3/5 Stars
The first half of this album is straight dope, every track is killer. Parental Distraction Iz Advised has a smooth, bumpin baseline. MC Ren on If it Ant Ruff is the highlight. Second half kinda dips, guess it's hard to live up to the first half. I Ant the 1 is the highlight.
Had a blast listening to this, brought me back to my adolescents when I was skateboarding and throwing tags up in the town.
This album is as serious as you want or need it to be depending on your current standing with the law.
Classic Temptations with classic vocals, hip funk for the time and a ton of soul. Papa was a rolling stone is clearly the highlight here. Run Charlie Run is a jarring, shows the racism at the time with lyrics that smash you over the head. Mother Nature is a smooth lil number
You can't truly appreciate Kid A unless you have a masters degree - it's just too elevated. First time I listened after getting my online MBA from DeVry, I was like "WOW! Now I get this"
5/5 stars would recommend
Some really good prog rock here. Every member is spotlighted on the album, the song structures are complex yet pretentious and hit the ear right. Rick Wakeman rips a couple solos.
Best tracks: Southside of the Sky, Long Distance Runaround, Heart of the Sunrise
4/5 Stars
Appreciate everything that's happening on this album, the story is killer; just kinda died outs towards the end. Zombie is a straight banger of a track. If you can find it somewhere Monkey Banana is solid. Would much rather listen to The Best of Black President 1/2
Had a blast and appreciate this was recommended.
3/5 stars
A Krautrock classic, this album is as pure as can be. There's elements of Avant-Garde, Psychedelic, Drone and it all mesh perfectly. An experience one needs to have. Closing track It's a Bit of a Pain blends it's all together in a nice little package that's only 3:06
Best tracks: Krautrock, Jennifer, The Sad Skinhead, It's a Bit of a Pain

The greatest CIA funded band in history, recruited him for his psychical attractiveness. Something, something MK-Ultra. Something, something CIA circus music playing. Something, something, I eat more chicken than any man ever. Something, something, she gets high. Something, something, eat more pork, beans and chicken because I'm the back door man. She poops everywhere, Hol up the bathrooms are clear. Something, something about Indians and Snakes. Thank you Jim Morrison for some truly groundbreaking music.
This is gunna be a no for me dawg
The songs are well fleshed out, upon listening it seems they have less in common than I thought. They are both enamored with Woody Guthrie's lyrics, it's evident while listening who's turn it is. It turns out not bad, and kinda enjoyed myself.
Best tracks: Way over Yonder in the Minor Key, She Came Along With Me. At My Window Sad And Lonely, One By One, Eisler On The Go
So many better Brit bands, if they didn't do song 2 this band would have fall of to the waste side.
WOO-HOO!!
Just don't get this album or the appeal of it. To the ears I have attached to my head all I hear is bland ass yacht butt rock attempting to be deep and emotional without actually get there. Just want to add it's the most rated thing I've ever heard...have a nice day🤮
Da-Faq! Madonna doing Bjork for a last ditch attempt of feeling reliable and relevant in her seventh studio album in 1998🤢🥴
No one takes this shit seriously right...RIGHT??
Nah, just nah, fuck this dude, not because of his fame but because of his music. Boring as shit.
If it wasn't for the manic pixies and weird vampire girls, this band would slide into obscurity.
It's like you're in a hellscape and someone released a swarm of pissed off wasps by the thousands and your on a rollercoaster ride to hell. What a trip! Fantastic noise rock.
Best tracks: Assassins, Dracula's Mountain, 3 Towers
