Popular Reviews

California by American Music Club

At least it was better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Parachutes by Coldplay

That was not good but it was significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath

One of the best ever. Easy 5.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues

I liked this. I did myself a disservice by looking up the genre before listening. Seeing it listed as ‘desert blues’ set up wild expectations that it was not able to meet. Maybe a future album will include Brant Bjork and John Garcia.

Scum by Napalm Death

People out here giving this a 1 when I had to listen to that bullshit Mariah Carey album.

1-Star Albums (21)

All Ratings (234)

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 08 2026

Better than expected. Very charismatic and catchy.

A Hard Day's Night by Beatles
Jan 09 2026

The singles are decent. Mostly filler. Later albums are much better.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jan 11 2026

Great album. Distinctly remember repeatedly listening to the cassette back in the early 90s and watching the Jeremy video on repeat at 9 years old, even though my mom denies that happening. I’d give it a 4.5 if I could so I’m rounding up.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Jan 13 2026

I used to frequent pool halls in my early 20s and the only stuff I liked even a little bit was Meat Loaf or The Doors. I’d stack my money on the long songs from both and one time this guy got in my face because he was upset his Disturbed and Papa Roach songs were taking too long to play.

All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah
Jan 14 2026

Definitely better than I thought but good grief, needs an editor for sure. Should be 35 minutes max. Some good songs but a ton of filler.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 15 2026

This makes me feel incredibly old. When I was a kid I’d have called it dad rock. Now that I’m a dad I guess I’ll call it grandpa rock. Some good solos but way too long and boring.

The Good, The Bad & The Queen by The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Jan 16 2026

It’s a 2, but a stronger 2 than Dire Straits. Sounds like If Murder by Death wasn’t very good.

Smash by The Offspring
Jan 17 2026

Not bad. Would be better as an EP because it gets old about halfway through.

Arular by M.I.A.
Jan 18 2026

I have no idea what I just listened to but I liked it.

Vivid by Living Colour
Jan 19 2026

Great classic rock album. Love the guitar tone and the vocals.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 20 2026

I had never heard of this before and didn’t know what to expect. Really enjoyed it. Great voice and the music compliments it extremely well.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jan 21 2026

Afrobeat is a new genre to me and I really enjoyed this one, especially the drum solo.

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jan 22 2026

I liked this. I did myself a disservice by looking up the genre before listening. Seeing it listed as ‘desert blues’ set up wild expectations that it was not able to meet. Maybe a future album will include Brant Bjork and John Garcia.

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Jan 23 2026

Why in the world did I need to hear this. This was bad.

Treasure by Cocteau Twins
Jan 26 2026

Dreamgaze!

The Clash by The Clash
Jan 27 2026

Way better than London Calling.

Close To You by Carpenters
Jan 28 2026

This is some of the whitest shit I’ve ever heard.

The Rolling Stones by The Rolling Stones
Jan 29 2026

Had never heard a full album before, just the hits. Better than expected, though I much prefer The Doors if we’re talking rock of this era.

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jan 30 2026

Not bad but was expecting something different from the word ‘tubular’ #TMNT

Marquee Moon by Television
Jan 31 2026

Always meant to listen but never did. Next level guitar leads here. Love it.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Feb 01 2026

Jack White rules. One of the best guitar tones in popular music. It feels like a blanket on a cold winter night.

Spiderland by Slint
Feb 02 2026

Post-rock royalty. Easy 5.

Fear Of A Black Planet by Public Enemy
Feb 04 2026

Hell yes. Love this album but if we’re being real it could be 20 minutes shorter. Would probably be a 5 then.

The Score by Fugees
Feb 07 2026

Wow The Fugees. Who knew? Dig it but could be 20 minutes shorter.

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Feb 08 2026

I waited 58 minutes for some 🔥🔥🔥 and it never came.

Haunted Dancehall by The Sabres Of Paradise
Feb 09 2026

Perhaps the best yet of the albums I don’t like. Very solid 1.

Back In Black by AC/DC
Feb 10 2026

The hits are good (really good) but about half the album is average at best.

Django Django by Django Django
Feb 11 2026

I liked about half of this.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Feb 12 2026

Now this is jazz that I can get down to. Insane leads.

White Ladder by David Gray
Feb 13 2026

I am not old enough or white enough to like this.

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Feb 15 2026

Pretty good, especially for the era.

There's A Riot Goin' On by Sly & The Family Stone
Feb 16 2026

First album from Sly. I liked it but didn’t love it. Interested in hearing more.

Pretenders by Pretenders
Feb 17 2026

Had never heard this before. I liked it quite a bit. Good early 80s UK punk.

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 18 2026

I like The Boss and his million dollar blue collar haircut. I’ve only heard this album and ‘Nebraska’ though, and Nebraska is much better.

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Feb 19 2026

I was excited when I thought this was going to be Gary Numan.

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
Feb 20 2026

Better than expected, but the guitars could use some fuzz.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Feb 21 2026

Had never heard them before. I dig it. You can definitely hear where they influenced bands that would come later.

A Northern Soul by The Verve
Feb 22 2026

I really enjoyed the first and last songs. It was like eating an Oreo with no stuff.

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Feb 23 2026

I like Stephen Stills. I do not like 72 minutes of Stephen Stills.

Feb 26 2026

I am pretty skeptical of modern albums deemed ‘you need to hear before you die’ but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Had never heard of Sault before but I’ll be looking into their other stuff.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Feb 27 2026

One of the best ever. Easy 5.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Mar 01 2026

I really liked this. Certainly one of the better albums of the era. Wish it had more originals and fewer covers, since I think they’re significantly better.

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Mar 02 2026

I like the title track. But the rest, woof.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Mar 03 2026

Very talented player but I didn’t particularly enjoy it.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Mar 04 2026

I liked this but if it were any longer I wouldn’t.

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Mar 06 2026

AND YOUNG.

Technique by New Order
Mar 08 2026

Shadows cast loud and clear. Tell the world the New Order’s here.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Mar 09 2026

Not quite at the level of Ride and Master, but Blackened and Dyers Eve are top 5 songs in their discography, so rounding up from a 4.5.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Mar 10 2026

Hmmm. I guess I like Elvis.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Mar 11 2026

I had never heard them before. I dig and will definitely be checking out more.

All Directions by The Temptations
Mar 12 2026

I had never heard them before. I dig and will definitely be checking out more.

Mar 13 2026

I liked the songs that were mostly instrumental. And then Spotify auto played into Ill Communication, which was even cooler.

Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Mar 14 2026

For a band with ‘war’ and ‘drugs’ in their name, this was some of the most vanilla shit I’ve ever heard.

Truth by Jeff Beck
Mar 15 2026

I always saw Jeff Beck albums when looking for Jason Becker as a kid but never listened to him. Wish I would have, quite enjoyed this one.

Lost Souls by Doves
Mar 16 2026

This one was much better than the other English indie BS we’ve listened to so far.

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Mar 21 2026

I really dig it but it’s a bit long.

Mar 22 2026

While I tend to prefer the barbed wire gargles of Swordfishtrombones and later, this one is absolutely a 5. No better storyteller in music.

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Mar 23 2026

Somehow have never heard these guys. Love it! Slacker rock rules.

Harvest by Neil Young
Mar 24 2026

Easy 5. The Needle and the Damage Done is an all timer.

Doolittle by Pixies
Mar 25 2026

Who knew there was more to The Pixies than Orange Cassidy’s entrance theme?

Butterfly by Mariah Carey
Mar 26 2026

This is the first album I thought about skipping. I had a terrible time. Why doesn’t she stop singing and gurgling?

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Mar 27 2026

Good, but a couple steps down from their others. I would normally give it a 3 but it gets a 4 since it came the day after that Mariah Carey bullshit.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Mar 28 2026

This was incredible. The minimal music and the way his delivery plays with it is excellent. And the lyrics are very thought provoking.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Mar 29 2026

One of my favorite albums of all time. Cantrell and Staley were unbeatable. Such a heavy album for the mainstream attention it got.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Mar 30 2026

It wasn’t bad. Pretty surprised honestly.

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Apr 02 2026

I’d love to hear her sing over some RIFFS.

Meat does suck, but KD isn’t much better.

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Apr 04 2026

Hell yeah.

Rapture by Anita Baker
Apr 05 2026

It wasn’t as bad as Mariah Carey but damn thus was bad.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Apr 06 2026

Hell yes. Most important album of all time.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Apr 09 2026

It’s like if the first few Beatles albums were good.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Apr 11 2026

Best Purple album by a mile. Bonus points for Child in Time being a major influence for Rob Halford.

Scum by Napalm Death
Apr 12 2026

People out here giving this a 1 when I had to listen to that bullshit Mariah Carey album.

25 by Adele
Apr 13 2026

This was very boring but at least it wasn’t as bad as Mariah Carey or 50 Cent.

Apr 17 2026

This album does not deserve that cover or that name. But it’s better than Mariah Carey.

Purple Rain by Prince
Apr 18 2026

Where are The Time?!

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 19 2026

WAY too long.

Better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Apr 21 2026

Listened to this before going to see Sunn O)))

Traffic by Traffic
Apr 23 2026

It was fine.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Apr 25 2026

Wouldn’t it be nice to get good albums every day?

Brothers by The Black Keys
Apr 28 2026

This was much better than I thought it would be. Would be a 4 if it were 20 minutes shorter.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Apr 29 2026

At first I thought it was going to be pretty good. It got old quick though and wasn’t very into it after 3 songs. Still significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
May 01 2026

Insane album. The guitar work is top notch.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
May 03 2026

This was not good but it was at least twice as good as that Mariah Carey bullshit.

May 04 2026

I know someone who loves this band and I should have known it would be bad based on his other music taste. Still better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit though.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
May 05 2026

This made me want to listen to Akuma No Uta so I did.

California by American Music Club
May 06 2026

At least it was better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
May 08 2026

I wasn’t so sure about this one to start but it was want had. Even kind of liked it.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
May 09 2026

Even if Stairway is overrated, this is still the best Zep album.

Cross by Justice
May 11 2026

This was very bad. It’s better than that Mariah Carey bullshit but not enough to get over a 1.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
May 12 2026

Even though Clutch’s Proud Mary cover is better, this album is still excellent.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
May 13 2026

Apparently I’m a pretty big Leonard Cohen fan.

The Rise & Fall by Madness
May 15 2026

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
May 16 2026

5 star! 5 star! 5 star!

90 by 808 State
May 17 2026

This was awful but it is still better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

The Doors by The Doors
May 19 2026

Great album. Love Crystal Ship and The End even though they made me almost get in a fight with a Disturbed fan at the bar.

The Next Day by David Bowie
May 20 2026

David Bowie is more than just Ziggy Stardust - who knew?

My Generation by The Who
May 21 2026

Frank by Amy Winehouse
May 24 2026

Not bad but not quite as good as the other one.

Good Old Boys by Randy Newman
May 25 2026

Of every album ever recorded, did we really need 2 Randy Newman albums in the top 1001? Should have subbed one out for Gary at least.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
May 26 2026

This was bad. I liked the first one we listened to but this doesn’t do it for me. Still better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit though.

Now I Got Worry by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
May 27 2026

I had never heard of this before and it rules.

Sea Change by Beck
May 29 2026

That was much better than I thought it would be. Wish it was the one with the sweater song though.

Blood And Chocolate by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 31 2026

I gave Coldplay the same score, but if we’re talking rounding, Coldplay was a 1.75 and this was a 2.25.

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Jun 01 2026

I’d give it a solid 3.5. Not as good as the album with Sunn though.

Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk
Jun 02 2026

Pretty good for background noise while relaxing.

Signing Off by UB40
Jun 03 2026

Way different than I was expecting based on what I’d heard from them before. I like it but it could definitely be 20 minutes shorter.

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jun 04 2026

Better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit but not by much. Woof. One of the most boring things I’ve ever heard.

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Jun 05 2026

That was fun. A few ear worms. Sigourney Weaver rules.

The Band by The Band
Jun 06 2026

That was boring, but way better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Jun 07 2026

Pretty solid for chilling.

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band

Whipping Post could have used another 10 minutes.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jun 09 2026

I didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t prog. This rules.

I haven’t listened to Green Day on purpose since Dookie so I’d never heard this one. It was much better than I was expecting. And 7 minute songs?! Who knew.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jun 15 2026

I’d only heard Carrie and Lowell and some other tracks before, but nothing from this one. This was great. John Wayne Gacy Jr is one of the most unsettling songs I’ve heard.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jun 16 2026

That was pretty boring but significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Dog Man Star by Suede
Jun 17 2026

Sheet Music by 10cc
Jun 18 2026

Not overly memorable but not bad.

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Jun 19 2026

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jul 04 2026

Rip It Up by Orange Juice

That was solid and I’ll likely revisit it at some point.

Peter Gabriel by Peter Gabriel
Jul 09 2026

Not good but could have been worse.

Thriller by Michael Jackson

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Jul 12 2026

That was decent chill background music.

Hotel California by Eagles
Jul 13 2026

Jul 14 2026

Mis pantalones es un fuego. Quien es tu papa? Donde esta la biblioteca?

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds

The Wall by Pink Floyd

Aug 02 2026

Not bad. The instrumental tracks were the best part but I still enjoyed the whole thing.

Metallica by Metallica
Aug 03 2026

So there’s a nostalgic spot for this album for me because it was the first metal album I ever heard. That said, it absolutely does not hold up. The first 4 songs rule, so does Nothing Else Matters. But the rest? Woof. I’ve long said if you took the best songs from this, Load, and Reload you could have a solid 45 minute album. Giving it the benefit of a round up since it was my first.

Much better than the other album of theirs we listened too. Still way too long though.

Pump by Aerosmith
Aug 09 2026

I have a lot of nostalgia for the hits on this one, since I listened to their Best of album Big Ones a ton in elementary school. The hits definitely carry this one. The others aren’t bad but aren’t super memorable.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Aug 11 2026

This was not at all what I expected based on the album over. Still significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

Aug 12 2026

This would have been a decent 40 minute album, had absolutely no reason to be 65.

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Aug 13 2026

Pretty good but not super memorable.

Aug 14 2026

That was some bullshit right there. But much better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Aug 16 2026

I thought I liked this album. Don’t know what I was thinking. It’s so insanely long and less than half the songs are good. Loses half a star for the length. Still significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit though.

Dummy by Portishead
Aug 17 2026

I had listened to this before because I have several friends who love it. I liked it but it didn’t really click with me. Today, it clicked with me. Great album.

1984 by Van Halen
Aug 18 2026

EVH is an excellent player but not a good song writer. DLR sucks all around. Still significantly better than Mariah Carey’s bullshit though.

Was it really necessary to be that horny?
