Wow ... that was pretty awful! I love how Wikipedia states that this album was released to Universal Critical Acclaim! What!? I can already see this album has a solid 3 star average rating which means people either give it 5 stars or 1 star. Well I am definitely giving it 1 star. Absolutely nothing happens in this album. It's like they come up with some simple riff, and then just play it over and over none stop for 3 to up to 7 minutes. I just have to wonder, when you think of a band going into a studio, there has to be a sense of excitement creating a record. We're these guys actually excited creating this album, because it sure doesn't translate onto the finished product.

Was just not in the mood for this, and skipped most of the songs half way through, when it was clear it just wasn't something I liked.

I didn't care for this album
just not a fan, the lo-fi was really hard to get into specially after listening to violator... a decent listen but was hard to get into it , right afte the first 5, we have the first 1 !
Dreary
halfway through i figured id just say "painfully average" and give it a 2/5, but it got worse somehow? its so fucking bland and boring and repetitive, maybe 3 songs on this album are any different from the grey mass of whining and sad fucking guitars god the guitar riffs sound like shit, this isnt music, this is angsty fucking losers jamming together anyway the 2-4 songs that are different arent good different, they still fucking suck. god whats a waste of fucking time NNN

I was sooooooo bored. Bands that take themselves this seriously and without any joy or whimsey really have no place in any musical lexicon. Let alone a list like "Must Hear".

Some music is so bad it’s offensive, and you just want it to stop. Some music is just so boring that you don’t want to listen to any more of it. This one is much more of the latter, with a touch of the former.

Oh jeeeez is this dull. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't even see this as being influential or anything. It just feels derivative and a slog. It was hard to finish. Boo!
I actually like the first couple dreamy songs but the rest of the album is boring tame impala wanna be indie man music trash.
Was there a Producer for this album? It doesn't sound like it. The band also appear to have given up after the first three tracks. They couldn't be arsed. And neither could I.

Man - not gonna lie, this album is just dreadful... With albums like these, I used to say "what warranted them getting onto this 1,001 list in the first place" - BUT now I'm looking at it in terms of what potentially great albums got left off because of this trash... There were 2 songs that I flagged in "Desire Lines" & "Helicopter" the first-time through - but upon subsequent listening - it's NOT that I sorta like them, it's just that they sucked less than everything else... "Basement Scene" is by far the worst song on the album... Sorry - no redeeming qualities in this swill that I can find... This gives true "indie" a bad name, as this is just lazy and self-indulgent all-the-way-around...
Not for me. It may be well done but what do I know. Not enough depth of sound in the instruments or voices.

In what world was this, "released September 27, 2010 to universal critical acclaim."?!? There is nothing here. It's a total waste of time and the band should be ashamed for having made this. This is 46 minutes of filler.
Oh my god. I don’t know how I’m supposed to get into music that sounds like the musicians are bored out of their minds even while making it. There are two tracks that DON’T do this and they’re nothing special. (Prior listen)

Someone please pull me out of this dream pop hole in the ground that I've been shoved into. I didn't like Cocteau Twins bullshit dream pop from the 80's yesterday, and I don't like it any better flashing forward 30 years into the '10's today. The album cover tells me absolutely nothing about the band, I hate that, and it's not even a good photo, it doesn't mesh with the actual album content in any way. Annoying. Pretentious tripe.

It's indie music. It didn't make my ears bleed but I may need to go to an audiologist. Not the worst album on the list but it is not really a two.
My heart sinks when I get a recent album I've not heard of and this is no exception. A baffling entry into any list of any albums. It’s ‘OK’ and no better than that

I imagine people have sacked this list off because this was the first album they were generated and thought if this can make it why the fuck am i going to bother with the rest. It's just such a boring album for a band that describes themselves as 'ambient punk'. If this can be labelled punk then punk is dead. Fair enough if you like this stuff, but within the 1001 albums to listen to before you die? Behave.

One of the more tedious albums I have had the misfortune of listening to. Thought it had finally got interesting but then discovered that Spotify had moved me on to other artists ...
It's probably an overstatement to blame the death of rock music on rock music becoming this...ignorable? But after 46 minutes of this that felt like 46 hours, it doesn't feel like THAT much of an overstatement.
I don't like this at all. Now it's finished I couldn't even tell you what the difference between one song and another is. The lasting impression this leaves me with is 'why?'. Not for me.
