I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe.
Seems woke for the 80's but a bit boring soz. 2.5 stars rounded down to 2.
Sultans is a jam but... The rest is OK. Won't be going into the rotation. Prefer Brothers In Arms.
Parts of this album got a bit tiresome.
Some of it was okaaay as background music.
I was surprised by a few bangers.
Countdown To Not-quite Ecstacy
Giving this a pity second star. Mostly bad.
Psycho Killer best song on the album by a fair bit.
Pretty bad sorry Bee Gees.
Can't relate but not bad.
Sorry Brain couldn't get into it
There only one Elvis and he's the king.
But we don't like him either cos he was a creep.
Next please.
As an album... Too long and a bit over done. Some songs work well.
Sorry David, not a great listen.
Didn't quite get into this one but I'm giving it 3 stars for sounding like it sounds and being from the 60s.
I'm very clever I like jazz man
Chill instrumentals. Not a great overall listen with vocals.
Not bad old school psychy proggy rocko
Texas is hot, I can be cold
Grandma cried when I pierced my nose
I'm gonna give this one a miss.
Makes me regret staying in school.
3/5 feels generous but whateva
Little bit of yeah but more yeah nah.
Probably deserves more than a 2. Better than I thought it would be. But I'm giving it a 2.
Interesting background. Original album tracks are... Alright.
Had some good moments... The Grateful Dead still haven't clicked for me. Maybe I need to listen to the right performances. As an album, this one is not amazing. Inclusion of Feedback was a bad call.
Best crowd 1968. Prison sounds like a sweet deal.
Couldn't really get behind this dad rock.
Even worse than the other Missy Elliott album. I did sorta try though.
Jane says the rest of the songs aren't as good.
Old school punkyness. Dig the female vocals.
Didn't find this that great. Granted I'm not English or over 50.
Good tunes AND anti-establishment? Nice.
Moody broody. Good to listen to on the bus. Not my fave Radiohead album.
I got Radiohead yesterday but I'm not mad.
Sounds very aged but hey it was listenable.
The War On Drugs Spotify description:
"The history of rock ’n’ roll is a story of splintering. Stop here for 10 seconds, and think: How many niches can you name without even trying, without having to pause for just a split second? They seem infinite and, already the better part of a century since rock’s bastard birth, still ceaseless, each new form defined by the mainframe’s perpetuity of flux. But over the last 15 years, The War on Drugs have steadily emerged as one of the mightiest counterweights to this endless division, reconnecting rock’s manifold hyphenates with an ardor and ease that suggest they were never split far apart in the first place..."
The album isn't bad. But holy shit what a load of bollocks. Minus one star for that is fair I reckon.
I don't think this has aged well.
80s punk. Decent energy on some tracks but nothing amazing.
Weird but kinda interesting.
I'm gonna go with 3 starts for appreciation not necessarily enjoyment. Not that it was bad.
Background music I guess. Had to break it up though. No one's got time for pianisting for an hour sorry old fella.
Kanye being a massive bellend aside, this album is overated imo. Some catchy parts but also lots of cringey bits.
Better than it really should be.
Probably could have died peacefully without listening to this.
Wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Early 2000ish hip-hop cheesiness is getting to me.
Average. I'll round up from 2.5 because I'm feeling generous.
Found a better recording on YouTube. The Spotify version is not it. Nice to do work to.
This was fine but not really my cup of tea.
Too repetitive and long to be an enjoyable listen
Not even my strongest urges to be contrarian helped me enjoy this one.
Love me some pinball wizard but this was too long without enough going on to really get into.
Contextual points given. Some songs were vibin.
I've got soul but I'm not a soldier
I wasn't listening too intently but it didn't do much for me after the first song.
Sounds aged and drags on a bit, sounding very samey... But there is some interesting stuff in here.
Had to skip a few tracks due to high levels of annoyingness.
Nothing special with today's lens.
Didn't really click or feel memorable after a few listens.
I guess it hasn't aged well.
Weird but mostly not in a good way.
Remarkably listenable considering it's nearing 60 years old, but largely unremarkable.
Goes on a bit long but fairly palatable. Summer beach vibes.
Album you must hear before you fall asleep
I don't think I'll ever listen to this again but yeah, I get it. Pretty depressing vibe.
Kinda fun. Bit long though. What were they thinking with Free Form Guitar...
Not really my thing but it was pleasant enough.
The old school cheese doubled back around into being kinda fun.
Actually kinda fun. Quite nostalgic. Chester vocals are best Linkin Park vocals.
I didn't hate it. Some of the spoken word stuff was a bit wierd and meh.
Sort of charming but also not
Straightforward driving punk. Short and punchy.
I can appreciate it but it didn't do much for me
Banger. Got it in the car in CeeDee format.
Imagine rock-'n'-rollin' to this in '67 🤠
Found myself quite enjoying some songs. Angry music +1
Not amazing, not terrible.
Only realised this was from 73 after listening. Fair play. Interesting.
I enjoyed it. Didn't overstay it's welcome and you can't beat smoke on the water
Banger. I'm about 20 years late to this shoegaze thing but hey. Worst thing these guys did was call themselves my bloody valentine.
I'm glad this one isn't on Spotify so I'm not tempted into trying to listen to it again. Yeah, it's weird, but yeah, it's bad.
Never heard of this. It was great.
Didn't bother listening to the extended version, it's hella long. Had it's moments
I can't remember much about this album, I was doing something while listening and now it's been a few days. Must not have been too bad.
Upbeat 80s synth pop. I'm here for it
A refreshing surprise that this made it amongst the dad-rock.
Some good vibes. Some weird vibes as well to be fair.
Eh, I wasn't in the mood for dad rock today.
Liked this one. Not as cringey.
Could probably be anywhere between a 2 and a 4 depending on how honky tonky I'm feeling. Today it's a 2.
There are some bangers on this album. If there were more bangers, I would rate it higher. It is what it is (which is pretty good).
You know what it's not bad.
Found this a bit dull. Lyrics were meh.
God awful album art. But I liked the music. Sounds like CAKE, but, darker?
U2 is U2 but this is a good enough listen
Not very good tracks amongst horrifically bad interludes and skits.
I could bop to this. In fact I did bop to this.
Better than average dad-rock
Pleasant, nothing too much that jumps out.
Bellends can make good music.
Good stuff. Great musicianship.
Funky masterclass. Shame it's not on Spotify.
I won't rate it too low as to not seem uncultured. This was fine as *background jazz* but didn't make much of an impact to my 21st century ears (but a break from dad-rock is always appreciated, of course).
The lyrics to Brown Sugar are abhorrent. The rest is good enough to listen to.
I got too irritated to finish it.
Jesus loves you more than you will know
I don't really like James' vocals but eh, it's a classic
Better contender for an album you don't need to listen to before you die.
This would be good for when I want to listen to honky tonk blues (which is never).
Hard to argue with dat synth
Fine listen but never really feel like listening to too much of The White Stripes.
Plenty more fish in the sea mate.
Yes but less skits next time please
Generally enjoyable but didn't blow me away or anything. Little bit tepid feeling at times.
I enjoyed this, I think, but it was tricky to find.
Found the CD at an opshop a few months ago. Been in the car CD player since. Great album.
Again, plenty more fish in the sea mate.
Full of white people bangers
Good ol' fashioned Satanism
Soft religious metaphors for days.
Pity 3 stars cos it's kinda alright but I can't really stand the vocals for long.
I think this is as bad as it sounds, but also I'm not sure. I liked the instrumentation.
I think I enjoyed some of it
More mostly-boring dad rock
Not all dad rock is born equal. Imagine hearing freebird for the first time in 1973 and ascending to guitar heaven.
Gets old pretty quick sorry ☘️
No one needs to hear this before they die
Their best work is yet to come
Not sure what to make of it. Not the best prog but alright
Listened to this album while eating humus and carrot sticks on the deck in the sun. Surprising good listening for when you're eating humus and carrot sticks on the deck in the sun.
Is it Oasis' fault that wonderwall is overplayed? 🤔
Generally good but who are these guys???
The songs that were on Spotify were pretty good stuff. But not good enough to go hunting for the songs not on Spotify.
Hadn't heard of these guys until earlier this year. The album is pretty cool at times and I'm feeling generous.
First Bowie album that made a bit of sense to me
Had its moments but was maybe a bit long/meandering?
I bought Urban Hymns at an opshop and thought it was rubbish other than bittersweet symphony. So this was a surprisingly decent listen tbh.
I wouldn't recommend this to someone if I knew they would die at some point in the future
Weird but not in a good way. Not aggressively bad though.
Pitty 4 stars.
OK it's not bad.
Haven't listened to the Rós before, but I think I will again soon
Much better than the name and cover makes it out to be
Generally inoffensive. Decent listen
Never heard of em but I kinda like it
Yes, there are some absolute classics. But, it meanders for too long with uninteresting filler tracks.
Quite long, but generally pretty good 👑
I think he was trying to do a thing while being aggressively offensive, but it sounds well overcooked... Sorry Slim
Prog goes brr. Pretty cool but not my fave
It's got some bops no doubt. Also some fairly uninteresting tracks tbh
Grunge machine goes brrr
RIP
Very good. Not as good as Doolittle imo, but very good.
Not bad. Won't listen again though.
Some pretty good tracks but not particularly sold on the whole album. The best of the Gorillaz was yet to come.
Nice to have a break from dad rock with some *hard* dad rock
More enjoyable than I thought it would be I suppose
Man can write a tune. Some duds in the album though.
Few cool tracks but you can probably die peacefully without listening to this one.
California dreamin' was not good enough to redeem my interest in the rest of the album.
Enjoyed the instrumental stuff
Legendary but kinda drags
Inoffensive but also inoffensively not that interesting
Didn't feel like LCD Soundsystem's best.
Nice, cheesey and dated but nice
Started off slow I think, but picked up somewhere in the middle with a decent run of tracks. Some good stuff here. Feels a bit long though, and that's before getting to the extended edition...
Didn't get me like Doolittle does
