Great composition, new wave in its full form. Compression was too intense at times making it sound very loud
Love the hard sabbath-style rock, but the slapback effect on the drums gets very old. Hadn’t heard a single track on this album before somehow. Baby Strange was the standout for me.
Three all-timers on one album
Really grew on me after a few listens. 1999 is not my favorite prince track, maybe because it reminds me of 7th grade when it was overplayed (y2k, etc). The back end of the album rips, and is sufficiently weird to merit multiple listens with prince’s high pitch squeals and bizarre lyrics
4.5. so many bangers.
I guess this is what prog rock sounds like. Excessive and comical at times, probably (Spinal Tap clearly parodied this sound), but great instrumentation overall. I can see the influence on Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, and other rock greats - all in an album released in 1971.
Classic.
All time greatest.
Weird but also not that weird. Couple of catchy tunes. A few hilarious tracks the one about zoo creatures. Not sure I’ll ever listen to it again.
Not sure why we are promoting the music of a murderer
Great texture, love morrisey’s voice. End to end the tracks sort of blend together but it’s overall a great sound.
Insanely talented musicians. Especially for punk rock. Only weakness is the vocalist who doesn’t quite do it for me. If I had any history with this group I’d prolly love the album more.
liked this a lot more than I expected. a many genre-bending jazz/indian/afro tracks with retro 60s/70s swagger
Classics. I am a little sick of most of these songs but it is still an epic album. Bonus points for a new vocalist somehow crushing it on the first album.
Southern rock in a single album. I Ain't The One is underappreciated.
Surprised at how much I enjoyed this album. Talented musicians that successfully ripped off Metallica and added punk elements. Unfortunately "rap rock" comes to mind so there's an automatic -2 stars.
Not terrible, love the piano rock, but bruce's voice gets annoying as fuck to me after awhile.
Didn’t listen to it enough but Rescue stood out. Too much compression and overall shit production. Kinda sounds like a bad bowie album which is a compliment.
Definitive era rock album with glorious vocal harmony. So many hits. Not sure why Spotify won't let me listen to half of them. the CAAARRRYYY ONNNNNNN break is magical. "Woodstock" and "Our House" are hippie bangers and "Teach your children" is just classic.
Incredible follow up to White Blood Cells. Took their own garage sound and made it just a tiny bit more accessible. Has some of the worst technical drumming I've ever heard but JW embraces it. They ended up with fucking international soccer anthem. one of my all time top 50 albums.
Mary’s place was the one song I liked. Otherwise bullshit pandering USA lover tracks. Very obviously post 9/11. Into the fire sounded like Christian rock.
At some level, hearing irish dudes whine about parliament is abrasive and privileged as hell, but on another level it's punk as fuck.
Not really the most accessible album, but it made for pretty good background noise while I worked.
Couple of genuine bangers on here, and the mix of genres is def unique but most of his rap flow sounds like summertime girls by LFO. The unironic fuck boy lyrics get very old after a few tracks. Also automatic -2 for rap rock.
Idioteque/National Anthem are all-timers. Still mindblowing that this came out in 2000. On good headphones, the textures are super overwhelming (esp Morning Bell and Everything), and i notice something new with every listen. it upended the shitty ass place that pop rock music was in (Hoobastank) by lacing in IDM & techno. Don't think we would have Tame Impala, LCD, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, or similar risk-taking modern rock as we know it today.
Very nice, not my favorite genre but I still loved the vocal mix on timeless, and the quirky, high end synths scattered throughout. Can see the influence on modern techno/breaks. Reminds me of a lot of eris drew.
a rare one-album-wonder
Jaunty
Thrash ma dick
Solid, but not my favorite 80s rap. The production quality is poor, the mix is weirdly low. Might be Spotify.
Very nice
One point for creativity
whatever
God I love this album. Gets better with every listen. Nude is up there with the best songs ever. Thom’s voice makes me wanna cry. Jigsaw and weird fishes have amazing instrumental builds that are classic Radiohead.
I happen to love Can bc of the huge kraftwerk influence but he uses an annoying number of instruments on this album. Still some catchy tunes and nice vibes.

Hell yeah. Bag lady is so good.
It's like if bohemian rhapsody were a whole album. Had only heard two songs on this album before, and they made no sense as singles. Grew on me a ton by the third listen through
so fuckin good. every track. raw, bizarre beats and clever raps.
3.5 - appropriate fuzz levels, a couple bangers, a couple duds. If I ever got into dino jr. i might feel different.
prettyyyyy pretty good. starts very strong, kind of gets monotonous after awhile
The hits are bangers but the album has a shit ton of filler tracks. They also don’t do thrash metal too well.
its aight. the first track sounds like a sitcom theme and I like that.
3.5 - was blindsided by the hella psychedelic post-punk fuzz, but got into the vibes by the second playthrough. the "call me the breeze" cover was mad unexpected. will def come back to this.
Why would I listen to a fuzzy, muddy recording of a band with muddy ass fuzzy music anyways. All the depth and fidelity is gone
3-4 big time hits on here. They don’t age super well but I still love em. I love the kool Kieth appearance, was a huge surprise for me
2 much brit pop
yup
Starts strong, gets repetitive toward the end. NWA without Dre and Easy and the other guy.
cool ass country. johnny cash with some polish.
loved this album. super chill, nostalgic, listenable
Banger
4 feels low, 5 feels high. This is the era where the Beatles start crossing into “unbelievably good”, but I still hate the shit like “drive my car”
very cute
all the hits
right banger
one of my least fav steely dan albums. my old school is and your gold teeth are the most likeable tracks, but there are just some very weird genre decisions (bodhisattva, king of the world, pearl of the quarter)
jazz legend. gets a wee repetitive after awhile but it's a good repetitive. like i'm perpetually at a dinner party.
far from the best stevie album. lots of sappy songs. still a couple of slaps though, he can't miss.
First time listening to an REM album e2e. Great lyricist, loves talking about people talking.
4.5, so many many bangers. only knock on T. rex's sound is that it doesn't have much of a dynamic range to it. gets old after 30 min.
a few awesome tracks, but the b-side gets REAL shitty
dope dope dope
