Coles Corner
Richard HawleyThis whole album felt like a cigarette with a cup of coffee. 5 stars
This whole album felt like a cigarette with a cup of coffee. 5 stars
I’m not familiar with the rest of their discography, but this album just sounds like a poorly produced Oasis copycat
Little Richard > Chuck Berry
This album has a few very memorable songs and the rest are more or less forgettable. Sounds like 2 potheads that had to write 7 filler songs
Spent years thinking that Roundabout was the only good Yes song. This album has proved me wrong
Wasn’t expecting a dance album.. It’s not really my thing, but it is a 52 minute long banger
One of my all time favorite albums. The deluxe edition has an extended version of Wasted Hours that is incredible
Great album, I’ve never really listened to REM outside of singles but this is a beautiful album
I stopped at D.S.M.R. Prince is one of the greatest musical minds of all time. He was an incredible multi-instrumentalist and an absolute legend in every sense of the word.. With that said, I hated this album so much. I didn’t even finish it, and even skipped a couple songs. All of the tracks seem to be at least 2 minutes longer than they needed to be. I’d rather scoop my eardrums out with a cocaine spoon than listen to this ever again
Even though I’m not really into soundscapes, this was really good. It’s mostly 2 tracks but they have so many dynamics that it was fun to listen to
This is the first Chili Peppers album I’ve listened to cover to cover, and I’ve gotta say I loved it. It’s great driving music but they’re all bangers too
This album is fine, but the tracks are almost out of order. Why Starlight is not in the middle of the album, I’ll never understand. Muse has better albums
Perfect album cover to cover. Nirvana isn’t one of my favorites, but listening to this makes their huge success understandable
Such a dramatic album but still only getting 4 stars because of all the skits
This was really good. It reminds me of Beach House if they were a 90s band.
This was a non stop intensity from beginning to end. My first time listening to them and I definitely get the hype
I’m not sure why this is on this list. It’s listenable and not a bad album but every song sounds more or less the same
Love this album, not sure why it’s on this list
This is one of the most epic, timeless albums I’ve ever listened to
I don’t get it. Had some good songs, but by and large it’s a bunch of drunk friends trying to play the blues
A bunch of catchy, clever songs from an almost unknown indie band
I doubt I’ll ever listen to it again as I’m not a fan of her voice but this was still really enjoyable
This reminds me of a middle eastern Massive Attack. I recognize that it’s good but it’s just not my thing
This sucked. There’s no other way to put it. A majority of the songs are just 5 minutes of them saying the song title over and over and over again. Hated it
This whole album felt like a cigarette with a cup of coffee. 5 stars
This was absolutely explosive. Even though there was some unnecessary jamming, I could tell that they were just full of energy and locked in together
I’ve never understood the Lou Reed hype. Adding Nico to this only made something I already don’t like worse. Not a fan
This was a good album with some great harmonies and really nice instrumentation. It was also tastefully psychedelic. My only complaint is that it’s very much trying to do what the Beatles were doing at the time
I didn’t have time to listen to the full thing. Will listen tomorrow
Easy to listen to, but ultimately it’s 70s porn music
This is 22 minutes of the 12 bar blues and other people’s songs. Jerry Lee Lewis was also a piece of shit. Fuck this guy and fuck this album
This album is great cover to cover. Bonus points for the go-go beats
This sounds like a great driving album. Didn’t know the theme song for That 70’s Show was a cover. Pretty cool
I would love to revisit this while flying. It’s beautiful but the album title describes it perfectly. This would be perfect to listen to while people watching at the airport
This album has some amazing textures and is a perfect blend of electronic music with a full band. I love Radiohead so much
I’m so glad I got this one the day after Hail to the Thief. Much like Hail to the Thief, Kid A is a work of art
I’ve never been a huge fan of the Smiths but this album was awesome
This album is really pretty and it has a lot of different textures, but ultimately it sounds like something hippie chicks listen to when they brush their armpit hair.
ALL BANGERS
Sounds like empty nester dad poetry
Never liked the Talking Heads and this didn’t change that
I’ve heard Another Piece of my Heart before and all of these songs sound like drunks at a BBQ. 3 stars for Janis though
I’m shocked that I liked this as much as I did
I hated it. I really don’t care for this style/genre/microtonal singing
This album sucks. “Let’s just play out of tune! None of us can sing, might as well moan whatever the song title is.” What an awful piece of shit this album was
This was fun
Elton John is the master of piano ballads, but it gets exhausting when it’s a full album of them
I like The Who a lot but this was exhausting to listen to
I’ve always loved The Joshua Tree, but I never listened to War outside of the singles. Awesome album, aggressive drum sound
I’ve listened to this a few times in the past. Not my thing but it’s a great example of how to make odd time signatures easy to listen to
I’ve never cared for the White Stripes aside from a few songs. Listening to this album changed nothing
This album means the world to me. I know it makes me sound like a redneck, if anyone ever says anything bad about Lynyrd Skynyrd, I would quickly direct them to this masterpiece
This was my first time enjoying something with Jeff Tweedy, Billy Bragg was great too. I’ve never heard of him before this
This was incredibly boring. Just strings and synths behind someone who listened to far too much Bob Dylan.
I’m going to finish this tomorrow, but it’s so good. I can’t see myself changing the rating
This was alright but it all kind of ran together. Interesting version of Heard it through the Grapevine
I recognize it as good but it’s not my thing
Before this, I had only heard of Husker Du. I really didn’t like it at all
DJ Shadow is so awesome. This is one of my favorite albums
I’ve never been a big fan of The Offspring, this changed nothing. The singles are the only unique songs
This is fine. Not a huge fan of The Police
I love Randy Newman but this was my first time listening to a full album. This was a great listen, highly recommend to anyone
This sounds like you’re in a Starbucks and the only thing they’re serving is MDMA Not my thing
This wasn’t bad or anything, I just couldn’t finish it. It sounded like the music they play during intimate scenes in Lifetime movies
One of my all time favorites
Do the Japanese only clap on the 2 and the 4??
I didn’t finish it but I’ve listened to this before. It’s a solid pop album
She’s a national treasure but ultimately not my bag
I’ve smoked every day for almost 15 years. I still hate stoner culture and songs about weed. Considering that, this album was controversial at the time and Peter Tosh is a reggae god
This is entertaining. Definitely a good chill road trip album
I love the blues, but because of the production choices of the 80’s, this sucks
This is worlds better than 1999. Thoroughly enjoyable
French NIN. I really liked it
Come on.. it’s Dark Side of the Moon. No review needed, but I do hope Animals is on this list
Fuck Green Day
This was pretty good, very relaxing
I honestly thought this was boring and everything sounded the same
Dynamic but incredibly boring
I’ve never listened to a full Eagles album. I really enjoyed this
I’m in the middle of this but it’s pretty good. I’ve always like Peter Gabriel but have never listened to this
I get that this is a great album. I can totally hear it, I’m just not a big R&B guy and I took away a star for having skits between songs
Do people actually enjoy listening to music like this? It sounds like circus music for handicapped people
This was a good listen. Had no idea she was British
I’ve never been a big Neil Young fan, and this didn’t help. 1. Why does anyone like this 2. He sounds like a little old lady singing in church
This was really good, but lost a star for unnecessary falsetto in a few songs (in my opinion).
Love Bonnie Raitt. Hate 80s blues
I’m not familiar with the rest of their discography, but this album just sounds like a poorly produced Oasis copycat
Fuck fuck fuck the police
I thought this was good a few songs in but by the time I got to the last couple songs I realized they all sound the same. What has 7 arms and sucks?
Poorly mixed and boring even if it’s arranged really well. Also, fuck flutes in this application
I take back every bad thing I’ve said about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This shit slaps
Such a classic album
This was surprisingly incredible
Much like Sticky Fingers, this just sounds like a bunch of drunk Englishman playing shitty blues
Everything sounded the same
I’m not typically into jazz, but this was enjoyable. Good reading music
Previously I was only familiar with London Calling, but I loved this album. Solid hooks and great songwriting
This is more listenable than most Lou Reed stuff that I’ve heard but I still don’t like it and don’t understand the appeal
This was ok but I feel like it’s the kind of music you hear at a CBD store
This was very relaxing to listen to. 10/10 would listen again
This is one of the greatest metal albums of all time. My only complaints are: 1. The mixing in the remaster is awful. I know they (Lars) cut the bass out of the original mix but the remaster is all kick drum as a direct result. 2. Half of these songs don’t need to be 7 minutes long 3. Kirk Hammet’s largely unorchestrated guitar solos. It sounds like he’s just winging it through most of his solos
This was good, but still not my gateway into jazz. Will try again with scotch and a cigar
This seemed really mediocre. I love reggae but didn’t care for this
British guys doing reggae stopped being cool after The Police dabbled with it. How did this make it on this list, this was awful. I regret ever hearing it or even knowing of it
Little Richard > Chuck Berry
I’ve never actually listened to a Soundgarden album cover to cover. I loved the dynamics
I know DK may not be for everyone and that’s ok. For me, this album is perfect from cover to cover. The perfect balance of surf guitar and punk
This was pretty but it’s really not my thing
I’m shocked at how much I liked this. It’s still country, I’ll probably never listen to this again, but I enjoyed it
Hipster Bruce Springsteen
Such an epic album. I knew most of the songs but the album flows really well and adds more context
I really hated this. Didn’t even make it through a full song. “Let’s make jazz, but instead of instruments, let’s synthesize them” 1 star
I’ve always loved The Roots and my old band actually got to open a show for them back in 2008. This is an incredible album that could easily be appreciated no matter what type of music you like
I’ve never been a fan but it’s not bad
Not sure why this is here
A perfect album from cover to cover. I actually found this album years ago in the 1001 Albums book
This reminds me of a tolerable Bright eyes. Beautiful album
While this is not my style, you can’t deny that it’s an incredible album. There’s a reason that he was the king of pop
This album surprised me. It was pleasantly chaotic with a. Lot of different textures
Such a classic. There are some filler songs but ultimately worth listening to cover to cover
She was a great singer, but I’m realizing that I don’t like her voice
The Doors are the most overrated band of the 20th century. Prove me wrong
So far, I was only familiar with Low Rider, but this album was very complex and a fun listen
This wasn’t bad, but I feel like it would translate better live
This was good, but his voice was wearing on me after a few songs. Would still be interested in listening to some of his other music
I made it 3 songs in. This sucks
How is Lou Reed as popular as he is/was. This is awful
I really wanted to enjoy it but it ended up just being annoying
I liked this, but it just made me want to listen to The Smiths
I loved this. Perfect album from cover to cover
I knew the singles on this album, but I’ve never listened to the whole thing. It’s absolutely perfect.. finally, a British blues album on this list that doesn’t suck
Automatic for the people is better but this is still good
Not my thing
Super boring, not this smokers delight
This was a fun listen, but I’m deducting a star for the worst version of Across the Universe that I’ve ever heard.
I don’t typically like music like this, but this was different and slapped so hard. DC!!
I really liked the music but wasn’t into the vocals
I love some of Jimi’s music, but he is a good example that even an incredible musician can be a disappointing songwriter
It’s fine
I liked the music but the vocals were too whispery for me
This was ok but got annoying very quickly
I wasn’t expecting this but long form soul music slaps. The only thing I didn’t like was how long the closer was and it’s mostly him telling a story that the song is written about
I’ve always loved melancholy but this album was great!
I originally hit the “Did Not Listen” button on this because I’ve always hated the Grateful Dead. I decided to go back and give it a listen because that’s the whole reason why I’m making my way through this list. I’m shocked at how tolerable this was. I’ll probably never listen to it again, but it was nice
I didn’t finish it but this was way more enjoyable than I expected it to be
I’ve always loved this album, although it’s not one of my favorite Gorillaz albums
There are 2 types of people in this world. People who enjoy listening to Queen, and liars
Love this album. Possibly has the best opener of all time and also has my favorite Zeppelin song, Since I’ve been Loving You”
I really enjoyed this! I had never heard of this Damon Albarn side project, but it’s like a mellow Gorillaz
This might be nice to listen to while fine dining but it’s not my thing
This was fine but not really my thing. Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood when I played it
I liked this but by the time I got halfway through the album, it all seemed to blend together
One of the greatest rap albums of all time. Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothin to fuck with
I liked the music a lot, but I felt the vocals were unnecessary. I also realized at the third song that they were all structured the same
This was borderline unlistenable
I never tried to listen to Devo because I always hated Whip It.. listening to this album changed nothing
I’ve never heard of her, but I really enjoyed this. The music was great and she has a great voice.
I typically like Bowie, but this was not my favorite.
I love singers from the 50s, but her voice got annoying after a while. Beautiful music
This has a few songs I like but I’m not really into Bob Dylan
This slapped with the exception of Milky Cereal
I really liked parts of this album, but the out of key bass parts weren’t fun
This shit will always slap
Spooky Ziggy Stardust. I’m here for it
There are worse things to listen to on this list
I’m just not a big Rush guy. After many attempts, live and otherwise
This was a good one. This band has grown on me a lot in the last decade
I don’t think I’ve ever listened to this, but I really enjoyed it
This was vaguely like Primus but less listenable
Not a big Beatles fan, but this album is perfect from cover to cover
Has some good songs, but I’ve never been impressed by the Stones
One of my favorite bands from the 60s and 70s. Absolute classic with an unexpectedly awesome groove
I’ve never been a big Pantera fan, I can’t stand Phil Anselmo. That being said, this album was awesome. Not five stars because they were/are racist pieces of shit
At first I thought the songs were all gonna sound the same but I ended up really liking the production on this
Man, I really hated this
I made it a few songs in and it’s what I expected. Music for old white men to pay their bills to
One of my all time favorites
I hated this. It would’ve been better without vocals
One of my all time favorite albums, and probably my favorite 80s album
I’m gonna just file this under, “not my thing”
Not as good as Abbey Road but it’s still my favorite Beatles album
I’m just not super into British white dudes playing reggae, it’s just not that good
This was trash
I recognize it as good, but just not my thing
90’s hits to smoke opium to Not great
Personally, I just don’t like music like this
I was hip to Steely Dan, listening to this made me realize I do not like Steely Dan
This had a good feel to it, but I wasn’t in a mellow mood and didn’t finish it
How could a band with a name like T. Rex have music this soft?
Perfect from cover to cover. Great selection for Thanksgiving
I’ve listened a few times. Still meh
Love punk, and I know this might be sacrilegious but this was kinda repetitive and not great
I enjoyed a lot of it, but there were parts that were annoying
Man, I really hated this. It sounded like the music from an 80s movie, but a shitty 80s movie
This album was a lot of fun to listen to. I really liked that the simple acoustic rhythm guitar had a part in every song
I’ve never cared much for Cream and listening to this again did not help
I get why this is good, and I typically love classic hardcore. This was a surprisingly difficult listen
Some songs on this album that I love, but not everything Yellow Submarine fucking blows
Just not a fan of moany female led grunge bands
Perfect album cover to cover
I enjoyed what I was able to listen to, but I do want to go back and finish
Incel girl grunge. Didn’t care for it
I expected this to be a lot better than it was. The idea was great, but they didn’t adjust any of their songs to tastefully fit the orchestra. It just sounded like an orchestra trying to play in the same room as Metallica. Also, Lars just blows. He sucks so bad
