This and Disintegration are the best albums made by anyone let alone the cure. Strange Days is in the running for my favorite song ever. The Cure is too important to me to be objective so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I do not have the patience needed to engage with this. I don't like syd's voice, especially when he tries to get out of his range, I don't like the arrangements. I can't help but think this was a bunch of friends indulging someone who had clearly began to stop being able to function. I kind of feel sad, and I don't understand why this album is on this list.

White Winter Hymnal is amazing.
in a less than generous word: twee. The distortion is the same in every song. I like it, all of it. It soars when it works, and when it doesn't, it is still a warm sweater of an album. The songs belong in as many indie films as they can fit in.

This is so outside my experience. I've never just sat down and listened to Miles Davis before. My first impression is that this is hard to listen to and do other things, which isn't bad. I don't ordinarily engage with music like that is all. That being said, it isn't anything I'd seek out on my own, and I don't feel compelled to listen again.

This is an Elvis Costello album. It has none of the singles that Elvis Costello is famous for. It is about as Elvis Costello as you would think if someone told you that Elvis Costello wrote an album and here it is. I was not surprised because it sounded exactly like Elvis Costello. On the bright side I like Elvis Costello in general.

This is my first 5 star album. It's so iconic I can't separate it from the miasma of music that is just in my head all the time. That it was this polished and hook filled in 1978 just puts it over the top. Moving in stereo, even without its association with Fast Times, has a tense sense of menace to it that gives me chills. Every other track is either good or flawless. The only reason it isn't a 10/10 is that I'm not compelled to own a physical copy, but it's close.

There is a point at which deconstruction isn't interesting. It's annoying and while I'm sure Mr. Cat had a nice time, I was not invited to his wavelength. update, after the noisy beginning it started getting interesting. it has a post jazz feel that is oddly regimented and is smooth without putting me to sleep. boring. Fever is a great song and he just drones it like his quaaludes just kicked in. sounds like he has an actual fever and is sipping soup while singing. What the fuck, why this guy?

Its just plain wrong to call this ethereal or dream pop, its far too atonal and discordant. Shoe gaze is a technique more than a genre and this qualifies at that. That being said, I dislike this and I have shit to do. Not really, but I'd rather find something to do.
I know this band and album are important to people, but holy shit guys.
