Abbey Road
BeatlesA remarkable record, I can't decide what my favourite song is on this album, some of the greatest songs ever written, and I love the medley of short songs towards the end, Golden Slumber into Carry the Weight is beautiful.

Not a big hip-hop fan but I do enjoy the 90s stuff, some great songs, Hill in particular is a remarkable talented
Very creative album, like a fusion of jazz, funk, soul and more. Very experimental, it must have been groundbreaking when it was released
First time listening to this, more familiar with Pink Moon, interesting to hear him with a full band, very complex musically yet so easy to listen to, Northern Sky stood out most for me, also some nice instrumental interludes.
The argument against AC/DC is all their songs sound the same, but the formula works, this record is back to back hard hitting rock songs, it's just fun to listen to.
Overall good album, would listen again, 3.8/5
No bad songs 5/5
Production and musicianship outstanding. So clean for something recorded in the 70s. Didn't think I'd enjoy this one so much, another 5 star for me
Sampling and production is great, not my favourite genre of music but this is definitely the type of hip-hop I'd go for. Gonna give it 4 stars, more than likely will give it more listens again
Just not my thing, I appreciate he is talented but it's not something I'd listen to again, found the album too long as well, 12 tracks are enough, one or 2 moments I liked, Andre 3000s short cameo being the stand out
First time listening to this, more familiar with Pink Moon, interesting to hear him with a full band, very complex musically yet so easy to listen to, Northern Sky stood out most for me, also some nice instrumental interludes.
Definitely a mood album, all sad songs, I didn't dislike any just can't imagine listening to this album very often
Thrashy and grungy, nothing polished here, long sprawling solos and a pure live garage rock feel. An album I've listened to lots before, one of the reasons Neil is called the Godfather of Grunge
Classic southern rock, no bad songs on the album with 2-3 all time classics
Not the biggest fan of double albums so made sure to listen to each side with a break in-between. Really good record, first time listening to this band, no bad songs on the record. Solid southern rock
Great album, only downfall is the length, feel like it would be a stronger album if it was a bit shorter
Excellent album, Nile Rodgers is metronomic on Guitar, the bass is some of the best I've heard
Definitely enjoyed the second half of the album more, will definitely need more listens, great production, Purple Rain is a phenomenal song
Liked the album overall, will probably listen to certain songs again, just didn't love it, not my favorite genre
Found the album really easy to listen to for the first time, pop songs with a sinister raw vibe
Very enjoyable album, easy first time listen, quintessential punk/ new wave sound of the time, lots of nice guitar riffs, feels like a lot of 2000s indie bands would have been influenced by this record
Beautiful record, first time listening to it, ethereal dream pop that I'd imagine is hugely influencial within the genre, lyrics are hard to decipher but really the vocals are there to create layers and melody. Very much a mood record, one to listen to all the way through while chilling on the couch with headphones
Gotta love some funk, nice happy record throughoy
Enjoyed the record more than I thought I would, perfect for headphones on the couch
Probably a little too short, and that includes the song San Quentin being played twice in a row, on the other hand it's a nice quick listen and Cash's interactions with the crowd is very funny at times
Conflicted by this one, I didn't hate it, found it relaxing, vocals and production are excellent, definitely a mood album, I listened to it on the couch with headphones. On the other hand I'm not sure if I'd listen to it again, I can see why it's been described as lounge music, it's relaxing to have on in the background maybe, there's very little change from song to song. Is it an essential album, I'm not sure, maybe within it's genre
Nice blend of experimental guitar noise and melody, have listened to some Sonic Youth in the past but never this record, will definitely be replaying it
I've never been the target audience for this record, in fairness there's some big hits on it, just not the kind of thing I'd listen to out of choice
Minimalist Indie-Pop, probably takes a few listens to appreciate. Didn't blow me away, they have an interesting sound but no song really stood out bar the intro. Not bad, just not brilliant either for me.
Innovative Brazilian music, nice album, worth a listen
This may be my favourite Neil Young record, some classic rock songs on it. Very raw in it's production with some really nice guitar solos
Really enjoyed the record, never knew that most of the second half was instrumental, found the music very atmospheric
Pretty good blues rock record, reminds me of the Stones, overall not bad, feel some of the songs aren't as good as others. What I do like is the live feel the album has, certainly the singing and playing are very good
Some very good rock songs and some forgettable ones, solid singing and playing, will come back to some songs probably not the album as a whole
Hypnotic music, very chill listening, not sure how often I'll come back to it though
Not something I enjoyed
So many great guitar riffs, love the raw feel to this album, hits hard, very iconic
I love this record, funk with psychedelic guitar
This one surprised me, found myself getting more into it as the album went on and had to listen to it again. Really nice 90s alt rock/pop.
Excellent musicianship, great mix of blues rock and some bluegrass songs
They have a huge lush sound, pop vocals backed with dance music. Every song had a hook that draws you in, enjoyed the album a lot
One of my all time favourite records, an easy 5 star
Had 2 huge hits, rest of the album is pretty good, worth another listen
There is a lovely balance between the softer and harder songs, some very big hits on this album, Corgan's vocals are so unique. The main issue is the length of the album. 28 songs and 2hrs long. I feel it would have been a much better record of it was shorter.
It's an ok album, nothing too exciting. Not going to be on repeat any time soon. Coldplay are a band I've struggled with and really don't like anything I've heard of them from recent years. This is probably the best I've heard of them.
Enjoyable first listen, definitely worth coming back to. Gave me vibes of Father John Misty
Trying to have an open mind for every album but this really isn't for me. I don't normally care too much about lyrics but they are really bad on this record. I'm not sure how it made this list, maybe within it's genre it is deemed essential but I won't be returning to it or any of the songs.
It's a nice listen, perfect background music for a cafe or bar. There's no reel shift in pace from one song to the next, it's great advantage is it's short length. Definitely an album with a certain vibe to it that grew on me, however it's probably only worth 2 stars as it didn't really have any songs that blew me away either
One of my all time favourite voices, phenomenal singer. Such an enjoyable record of classic soul hits. Easy 5 star
Raw Proto-Punk rock and roll music, keys remind me of the Doors and vocals are a little Lou Reed. First time hearing them and really enjoyed it
Album is a bit imbalanced, all the hits at the start and a weaker second half, however I enjoyed the whole album
One of my all time favourite records
Very theatrical, musically very interesting, probably wouldn't listen to it very often but not bad
Punk meets rockabilly, high energy easy enough listen, album is a nice short length
I'm not the biggest fan of modern pop, especially overly produced stuff with auto tuned vocals. This isn't that though, production is great and her voice sounds natural. I've never listened to a Taylor album before, usually shy away because she is overly played on the radio, I actually found the songs I didn't know more enjoyable. Will never be a go to listen but appreciate the talent
One of his best records from a very prolific decade, love the change up from the softer more acoustic first half of the record to the loud thrashy second half. Lyrically brilliant especially on Powderfinger
Not a genre I'm familiar with but really enjoyed this, perfect background music
Near perfect record, so many classic rock songs it's hard to believe it's not a greatest hits album
Got Creedence two days in a row and both are 5 star albums, I'm not sure there are too many songwriters as prolific as John Fogarty was in CCR.
Excellent record, there's a great balance throughout, definitely an album to listen to front to back
A decent listen, wasn't blown away by it either
75 albums in and the second Missy Elliott one I've gotten, both getting a 1 star, it's just not my taste, nothing on this record makes me want to come back and listen to it. I guess it's just lost on me. Also it was too long
It's a short album full of catchy songs very much of its time. Probably a little dated now but I enjoyed it very much, Buddy's singing is excellent and the guitar solos are all very good. I'd imagine it was hugely influencial.
Thought I wouldn't enjoy this but it actually exceeded my expectations. I've never been much of a fan of The Specials or anything Ska related. Will certainly listen to this again
Before starting this project had never listened to a full record by the Jam, knew their big hits but that's it, 78 albums into this project and this is the second record by them that I've gotten and have loved both. Production on this record is great, guitar, drums and bass all brilliant. Weller is a fantastic front man and songwriter. An album strong from start to finish with no filler
Cornerstone of 60s psychedelic rock, theres a great balance between raw energy and some softer acoustic sections. Somebody to Love and White Rabbit are great songs helped by Grace Slicks vocals. It still holds up today as a great album.
Huge Springsteen fan, for me his work in the 70s and 80s are the best. This album is good and probably the best since that era but not as good as his first 7-8 records. Having said that there are some excellent tracks on this record, could probably be a bit shorter overall.
Raw and energetic, solid 4 for me. Talking Heads have a unique sound, Psycho Killer is the standout track. Definitely something I'll listen to again
Atmospheric soundscape to this music, giving it a 3 although I think maybe it's the type of record that would grow on you with more listens
Solid record, very much a 90s punk record. Maybe a little repetitive but worth a listen
Just a great rock record, will be on rotation.
Genuinely thought I'd find this a bit of a grind to listen to, but actually enjoyed it, musically quite interesting, giving it a 3 as I don't think I'll listen to it again any time soon. Maybe the kind of record I'd sit through every few years
Yet to finish due to its length, I would argue this isn't an album and shouldn't be on the list, I'm glad I've discovered Ella though because her voice is amazing and the music is too. Giving it a 3 as I don't ever see myself listening through all this again but the music is great
Really enjoyed this, found myself singing along to most of the songs, not as repetitive as some of the other reggae albums I've had so far. Will definitely be listening to it again
Good album, worth another listen. Singing is a little weak but songs are catchy
Lush disco music, great production, very enjoyable.
Had it on whilst cooking, perfect music for the background
Was going to give this a 4 but bumped it to a 5 after another listen. This is a brilliant record, perfect mix of soul with some funk and jazz elements. Singing is great, bass guitar is fantastic throughout. Definitely an experimental soul album that lands perfectly
Was not expecting to see this album on the list, the least sounding Irish band from Ireland, if you didn't know better you would assume they are from California. The big hits definitely carry the album, not a bad listen overall. Pretty good indie pop. Vocals do grate a little after a bit.
Very creative album, like a fusion of jazz, funk, soul and more. Very experimental, it must have been groundbreaking when it was released
I'm familiar with some Pulp songs but have never listened to this album before, one of my favorites on the list so far, excellent songwriting, Jarvis is a unique and brilliant frontman. Love the production as well, would definitely look to get on vinyl
Enjoyed it more than I thought I would, not my favourite genre. Some decent songs, thought it was a bit long
Album #100 and I really liked this one, not a Pixies album I'm familiar with. Has the quiet loud quiet elements of their first 2 records but the sound seems bigger, a really good listen from start to finish
I like their sound a lot, very moody and atmospheric.
Just a great listen, the way songs segue into one another makes this a great sit down and listen from start to finish record. His voice is sensational.
Great energy to this record, a band I'd like to see live, not something I'd listen to frequently but when in the mood I'd play this again
Difficult listen, I appreciate it's different and creative, just not something I'll come back to
Part of my ratings are based on the likelihood of me listening to an album again, I'm not very likely to sit and listen to this again hence the 2 stars. However I do appreciate the music is good, it's creative and relaxing, it's just not something that I'll come back to I don't think
Not the biggest Metal fan, songs hit hard enough, may come back to it
I wasn't sure I'd enjoy a Leonard Cohen album with synths but this was great, love the balance between his deep vocals and the backing vocalists through out
First half is more punk than I would have expected, second half would be more the sound I'd associate with the Pretenders, either way and excellent record, Chrissie is an excellent lead, can sing punk, pop, rock, etc. Great selection of songs that have replayability
Music is going, album is too long, still getting through it
Not familiar with Big Band and Swing, but this was great.
I enjoyed it, not sure it's something I'd listen to all the way through again, some good songs though
Definitely the type of album to grow on me after a few listens, musically it's a hypnotic dreamy wall of sound that blends melody and distorted noise. Certainly not commercial and not for everyone but something I'll come back to.
Album is pretty good, synth-pop with plenty of catchy hooks, will probably give it another listen
All round a pretty good album, hard to nail down their genre exactly, definitely alt rock, elements of punk and funk. The album definitely shifts through the different sounds every few songs. A 3 star for now but I feel it's close to 4 for me. I think the second half of the album is stronger.
The argument against AC/DC is all their songs sound the same, but the formula works, this record is back to back hard hitting rock songs, it's just fun to listen to.
Has that sparse synth driven 80s pop sound, very sleazy thematically. I enjoyed it, maybe not something I'll come back to and listen through again, some songs carry the album and other I found a bit forgettable
Complex but accessable listening at the same time. They are all outstanding musicians, not an album I'll probably listen to often but will definitely come back to.
Very experimental and innovative for its time, lots of phaser/flanger effects, the bass and drums are great, love that sixties production. All round great record with a mix of blues and psychedelic songs
Excellent album, nice length, Al's voice is amazing. The kind of soul record to listen to on a chill Sunday morning
The range and power she has in her vocals is impressive, and the song compositions are very interesting, worth another listen probably
An album full of singles fit for big stadiums, one of his best records even if I do prefer his 70s work better. As a Springsteen fan I love the record but I am biased.
Solid album, very experimental, has a blend of styles, first half more energetic and the second half a bit slower, Perry's vocals I found a little grating. Will come back to it though
Sort of what I expected it to sound like, not a genre that will ever be a go-to-listen for me, however it's genuinely very good, some great compositions and her voice is excellent.
Folk rock with a really rootsy feeling to it, wonderful song writing, love the live feel and raw vocals and harmonies.
Nice short listen, a little dated and repetitive but pretty good all the same
It was ok at best, I'm familiar with Nico from her work with the Velvet Underground, I quite like the sound of her voice even though she isn't a great singer, I just think the album is a little repetitive and lacks a bit on the production side of things.
Masterful songwriting, first time listening to this album in full and I would say it's essential listening
Tom is his own genre, felt like listening to the soundtrack of some movie, I really enjoyed it
High energy electronic music, found it enjoyable throughout, worth a listen
Enjoyed the album, again Marr's guitar work is intricate and excellent, Morrissey's vocals at times is a little grating, but overall some very good songs
A struggle for me to get through, very generic beats, I didn't care for the lyrical content. But to be honest I knew I wouldn't like it, she gets way too much radio time and nothing of hers has ever encouraged me to go listen to one of her records before, what was most surprising I didn't recognize one of these songs. I'm just not the audience for this type of music
There's a lot going on in this record, a blend of so much, at times there was Wilco vibes, other elements was like the soundtrack to a western, then there was the mariachi/Mexican influence, yet somehow it all works, so well put together and certainly they can't be accused of sounding repetitive
Beautiful musicianship and singing, really nice listen and nice to be exposed to Cuban music. Felt the first half of the album was better and possibly it was 10-15 minutes too long, but definitely something I could see having on in the background again
Haunting, experimental, not something that's an easy listen, definitely an album for a particular mood, but certainly shows what a master Bowie was
Nice blend of punk, blues and rockabilly. Gets a little repetitive and maybe lacks a really good standout track, all in all a good listen, I like their sound and will probably come back to it at some point
Very immature, hasn't aged the best, not something I'd listen to out of choice, some ok songs
Giving it 3 stars, it's a strange listen, I like the production, I kind of like their sound even if the vocals get a bit grating. It's certainly one of the more unique albums I've gotten so far, a little too long maybe. Not sure what the genre is, some kind of Soviet military sounding industrial music.
Chill sunny day lounge music, not essential listening for sure but a nice record for a certain mood
Really liked the glam rock side of this record, fuzzy guitar licks mixed with a boogie sound comparable to T-Rex, and then the record can be less energetic with the more experimental jazzy songs. Overall pretty good listen.
A remarkable record, I can't decide what my favourite song is on this album, some of the greatest songs ever written, and I love the medley of short songs towards the end, Golden Slumber into Carry the Weight is beautiful.
The musicianship is excellent, it's meditative and hypnotic at times, just not something that I'll listen to fully again, in the right time and place this music is brilliant
Perfect album to have on in the background during dinner, there's no real shift in tempo from one song to the next, the songs tend to sound the same, her voice is excellent. Unlikely to listen to this in full again.
The sound is more dated than their later work which is timeless, most of the better songs on this record are covers, having said that it's a great listen, something easy to listen through again and again, such talented musicians, particularly Lennon's vocals on this record
A band I knew nothing about but pleasantly surprised by how good this was, definitely has the Sticky Fingers era Stones-y vibe, but there's a bit of rockabilly there and definitely a proto-punk energy. Plenty of great riffs, will have this on rotation for sure
Similar to the other Aerosmith album, it doesn't excite me that much, technically very good musicians and the vocals are good but lyrically not great and I just find the songs blend together, nothing stood out. Middle of the road rock album for me.
Smooth easy listening, something that would suit a lobby or cocktail bar. Nice relaxing tempo throughout with beautiful playing, just not something I'd have on rotation
Not a big hip-hop fan but I do enjoy the 90s stuff, some great songs, Hill in particular is a remarkable talented
Solid enough listen, felt the songwriting was strong throughout, very 90s sounding.
Stark and beautiful, every song for me was great, something I'll have on rotation for sure
Enjoyed the record, definitely hearing the similarities to Wire, particularly some of the guitar riffs. Found the album enjoyable throughout with some great post-punk energy mixed with 90s rock.
Such a relaxing listen, giving this a 5 even if it's not something I'd have on heavy rotation, definitely needs a particular mood to listen to it, but love the fusion of Jazz/Rock, whole thing feels like it was improvised on the spot, great musicianship
Hadn't huge expectations for this but I really enjoyed it, mix of Latin music, jazz, and psychedelic rock. Mostly instrumental, has a live improv feel to it. It's strength comes with the mix of styles, it never gets boring or repetitive. Most definitely an album for a particular mood.
Certainly one of the more unique albums I've gotten so far, probably needs a couple of listens to appreciate, a fusion of psychedelic, jazz, eerie chants, and jungle like rhythms. No standout track, not a commercial album for sure, interesting to say the least.
Great blues playing, harmonica work is excellent, a little repetitive maybe
Not something I'd usually listen, never heard of these guys before. It grew on me as the album went on, very ambient at times, at times it felt like the soundtrack to a film, nothing too standout and a little long but unique compared to the list so far.
One of those albums I don't hate or love, not something I'd pick myself, and truthfully probably will never listen to again, it's strange but interesting, definitely some great parts, would work well as a movie soundtrack. Didn't care too much for the vocals.
