I never listened to a full rock'n'roll album before, but this was a easy and enjoyable album to listen to. The vocals go really well together with the guitar rythms. Song 7 - Love Hurts was a song i somehow recognized (but not really), turned out this was the first appearance of the later famously covered Nazareth version. Overall the album was not outstanding for me personally, but still quite good.

Excellent
nice guitar solos, but the singing is not my kind of tea
The first four songs are awesome, the funky groove is just amazing. I also love the length of these songs, because i think that vibe really needs the time to fully build up. In the end you want just more of it. The drum solo on the other hand, felt a bit unnecessary for me. 4,5/5
I am not really into singer/songwriter music, but her voice is really good. I also like the topics of her songs, although they are quite serious and not fun at all.
Never listened to industrial music much, but i was surprised how good this sounds. I like the distorted rock music and also the electronic influences really fit good in it. Also the music embraces the overall theme of the album, as in some songs the music does tell parts of the story. The topic of the album is quite brutal and depressing. Reading the wiki first helped me here to understand, that all this part of the concept. Some songs like "Big Man With A Gun" are quite disturbing. That it then ends with the og version of "Hurt" is the cherry on the top. I wanted to give 4 out of 5 stars first, but after thinking a bit longer about it, i am going to give it the full 5 star rating. Very well thought out album!
I liked Airs Moon Safari already before i started with this project, so i was happy to have this album (which i did not know) on the list. There a few really nice songs on it, but as with every soundtrack there are also some songs which only seem to fulfill a purpose for the movie and dont feel right when listening to it just like that.
I know it was a different time back then and it probably is also part of this genre, but can't she sing once about something else than how terrible her husband is?
Great album overall.
I am an electronic music guy, so i was pleased with what first seemed to be a classic house album. Unfortunately it was more R&B and overall quite low energetic, i have the feeling this did not age very well, compared to todays standards.
Really liked this one. The instrumental parts are awesome, i love how they included instruments like the flute for example. The guitar solos could have been a bit longer sometimes, but overall great album.
Very nice instrumentals, loved the long guitar solos and the groovy rythm.
Half of the album sounded quite uninspired and boring, like an interlude. But there were also some nice songs on it, which i liked.
That's a solid 5/5. Every track just perfect!
"Our House" is a cool song, but the rest is really not good imho, the longer i listened to it, the more annoyed i got from it.
Not even 30 days in and already my second Van Halen album. It did not enjoy the self-titled album that much, so i was quite surprised by this one. The instrumentals were again very strong, this time i did also like the vocals.
Insanely good album, so many great songs on it - no weak spots on this album.
Never heard of this project before, but when i saw that Arctic Monkeys and Simian Mobile Disco are involved, i was excited. Was a bit disappointed in the end, since it felt like a movie soundtrack (James Bond vibes right here), but most of the songs were quite forgettable for me.
I listened to LTJ Bukem before, but did miss this wonderful album, because it is not easy to find. I listened on youtube to it, where some songs are missing, but nevertheless i heard enough. First of all, it is not really an album, the first CD is a compilation with songs from other artists too, the second CD seems to be a complete DJ-mix. What we get is wonderful presentation of peak 90s early Jungle/Drum & Bass, or how some people call it "Intelligent Drum and Bass". The drums are tight, the samples and vocals are chosen precisely to create a nice and chill atmosphere. The first CD has more vocals and also a great track with MC Conrad, the second CD is naturally more party-like, but keeps the same feeling and atmosphere throughout. Many tracks here that stood out for me, especially on the first part, my favourite song on it probably Chameleon - Links: "I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it."
this album aged insanely well
Very cool beats and all, but the lyrics are often beyond cringe...
third Bowie album for me and still not a fan of his style - but the ambient part of the album was really enjoyable
Very nice vibe. Somehow reminds me of Leftfield.
Some really good songs, but some are also so forgettable. And the best songs are not even part of the original version of the album.
Music is pretty enjoyable tbh, but the lyrics are abysmal, the misogyny is unbearable.
pretty good stuff, altough musically quite unusual sometimes the vibe of this album is really nice - i love the female vocals
